Domina kept feeding off the wheel, stuffing herself like a fat, godly pig.
Heroicus withdrew himself from the affairs of gods to remake himself into a "destruction" god to spite Domina, the "creation" goddess.
Voluris, the new god of courage, helped out a bit and made a pretty lame spear.
All mortals were united under one common tongue.
Frakt sent Uröng like a mad dog after Zerji.
Zerji and Frakt finished making their respective planets, and Frakt started populating his with ice- and snow-related critters.
Trasa made some pretty neat sheep, and a friendship sweater that Uröng and Zerji were put in.
Veraiitus admitted to not scheming enough and hinted at knowledge of something delicious for Domina.
Regolith motherfucking blinded a few gods with his strobe-light shield of bad-assery.
Some kind of godly council or pantheon was proposed by Regolith, to avoid senseless god-on-god violence.
Regolith ascended a mortal into minor godhood as his wife and announced his wedding.
Urgös made some MOTHERFUCKING DRAGONS, SON!
Barastran, the godly Frankenstein's monster, cooked up a pretty nifty planet and made it into a waterworld. Then he made gateways between the planets of the cosmos, enabling non-beings to travel to and from planets. Unsurprisingly, the humans became the most predominant and successful world-crossing species.
Regolith built, in co-operation with Tutarr, Frakt, Zerji and Voluris, a palace of light on Daemonia, with a throne of sunlight, stone and snow. Then he got his wedding presents, which included A MOTHERFUCKING GOLD DRAGON, a neat vineyard around the palace, and the lame lightning spear covered in a woolly snake-sweater (because Frakt got confused about which grandson of Domina was the snake) that became a
reusable mini-nuke scepterlint catcher.
And then it turned out Voluris was a goddess, not a god, and none of the gods had guessed so.
Select a tripcode to become a God, and roll 1d100 to speak the WORD and make things happen. Anonymous players form a Choir to praise or scorn the works of these Gods as they see fit.
oh... OH... ehm.... maybe have it give Regolith (assuming you've made it for him) a flat +10-+30 boost to rolls when he uses it? I mean... I can imagine that being possible, seeing as he's all about light and stuff.
Gods, GODS! Please! One of you any of you please ! Make Master Domina stop feeding from the world wheel. The Death Choir are in constant work if this keeps on...they might try to call...THE Union.
>Ballin' so hard motherfuckers wanna fine me
I'm only taking a little, don't worry. That's like a few thousand at best, over an entire age.
Rolled 80 (1d100)
With Domina being unpredictable and most likely still hungry, right next to the wheel, I shall empower Tutarr's attempt and assist him in what ways I can.
At least the Star Dragon can be an early alarm for us that the Star Mother approaches.
The Wheel is reinforced and strengthened it is shielded to prevent it crumbling it is more difficult for souls to be lost but is mainly to keep the wheel strong for ages to come
Wasn't this supposed to start in two hours
I awaken for the 8th Age!
My Palace is pretty much complete, but what palace would be complete without servants?
Rolling to create servants made of light. High roll means that they ar more intelligent, low rolls means they are basically automatons.
like Kitten the Emporer' s sentient newspaper
Rolled 41 + 30 (1d100 + 30)
There are a few asteroids around Helios i will increase them in number they are building blocks that any God may take from
I am witness to what is unmistakably one of my children perverted in form and turned against me in the worst way, to prevent me from sating my hunger. As of yet I have not suffered such an insult in this or any era.
Rolling to turn the light of all stars baleful, as I prepare for another Stellar Hunt. Let no being look upon the stars with hope, nor find solace in their glory as the fury of my radiance pares those responsible for this betrayal.
Rolled 89 (1d100)
Rolling to shed tears over the theft and alteration of my child to the dragon, and from them create Sunbolts, divinity shattering spears fashioned of pure star essence.
1 spear for every 10 rolled.
They're not for the dragon.
Approaching the dragon, and seeking to determine the nature of my relationship towards the red dwarf within, if any still exists. Question pointed at it's creator to answer I suppose, in this case.
It's been subsumed to create a core of Solar Essence within the beast. The Dwarf Star technically exists, but in a form entirely removed from its original state.
The entire idea was to create s creature that was a direct counter to yourself and more than powerful enough to fuck up anyone else who would mess with the Wheel.
Rolled 42 (1d100)
Alright then. If it won't obey it's mother and it will actively oppose me, then I'll have to strip it down to its base and start anew.
Maybe it is immune to my glory, for some reason, but I don't need to exercise divinity over it to simply attack it. Thus I roll to engage the dragon.
Rolled 71 (1d100)
An then it was ready. One more of it's creation this time instead os a predator the savage cyclop god, manufactured from his power a form for the beast.
It was as high in height bigger then a man ridding a horse, a thick scaled hide which shined with the the like of steel and silver mixed in it. The eyes were close to each other being only taken apart by the large and flat snout. His geyes were red as if Urgös rage had somehow transfered to it a glare that could kill or paralize mortals. From it's mouth two large and pointy tusk projected as the tip of spears and as sharp as any then Urgös gave it a name.
Go Gargantüa ride the world with my rage. You shall have your on progeny. They will not have your armor skin but their bodies shall be covered in thick fur.
Ride in Xion my other great beast!!
[rolling for the progeny numbers.]
Well, I think that the wedding preperations have finished by now. My servants, now known as the Radiants, have delivered invitations to all gods in the cosmos, and the Palace is prepared.
Let the arrival of guests begin!
Oh is it? Then i shall assist, if you promise in your name, to give a reward i request.
Then tou shall have my hammer.
>He speaks slaming the frost staff covering it in ice until it had formed into a hammer head.
The Star Slattern is denied her feast,
What a spectacle to behold,
The Maw laughs heartily.
But the situation is now tense,
Ye gods will soon find yeselves at war with each other,
Lest you come up with a solution.
I again point to the offer I made,
At the end of the last era,
In the presence of Caliban and Zerji.
Rolled 29 (1d100)
Then it shall be done.
>With a roar echoing from all existence Urgös, the rage of the cold, adornedthe robe him and Frakt shared. The one armed god then ran toward the dragon his hammer with heavy head being easily lifted with only one arm against the dragon.
Rolled 86 + 50 (1d100 + 50)
It's no longer a Star and immune to any of Domina's attacks.
Rolling for the Dragon.
You're really going to help her Eat the Great Wheel?
And you're going to attack a being that is diametrically capable of mitigating your abilities?
I also call any other Gods to assist the Star Dragon in defending the Great Wheel.
Oh hey cool, a letter.
Let me just go put my coat on!
Hey Urgos, what's going on? We killing a Dragon?
Rolled 20 (1d100)
Urgos, do as the nice man says. The Dragon guards the wheel, protecting the cute little mortals, one of whom my Wedding Date once was, may I remind you.
Let's put down our weapons, and ~chill out~.
Rolling for a wave of calming, powder snow to soothe savage nerves of all combating Gods.
When either one of the Frost Gods has the complete Winter Coat, they are the strongest of the Gods, save maybe Domina, iirc. I may be wrong. It helps that our FrostFire and her StarFire are both super effective against each other.
Why is everything Fire? Are we Dark Souls?
Rolled 68 (1d100)
Whenever I feel like it or whenever anyone else feels like contributing to holding us afloat.
Stop fighting. We're all gods here, except for the dragon, so we shouldn't fight. But we should also not damage the Great Wheel Witness built for all non-gods of this world.
Rolling to interpose between both sides of the battle, levelling sun-spears at both sides to keep their distance.
Domina is the "most powerful". Heracles, the god of "strength" was technically the strongest god out there before his starhood.
I recall her doing shit all to any other gods though. Most of the stars have been made out of willing gods, and the Herocles fight lasted fucking ages. The pastebin document uses a god's first 1d100 roll as a measurement of power level, which would put Domina at a pretty measly 23.
I mean, she makes stars, sure, but what else has she done?
dude.. I put it like that because the whole "power listing" thing was just a thing I did when I was bored and preparing to start up a thread.
If you want a list of what she has done, you can include the creation of... well.. the universe as her first act, followed closely by the first star. And she's responsible for the birth of about half the gods
Rolled 48 (1d100)
Rolling to create Sahkil, eldritch horrors to protect Daemonia from the Star Mothers wrath. + 12 from her eating earlier.
Then Zerji interposes himself between Domina and Urgos and the Dragon and Frakt.
Rolled 98, 35 + 30 = 163 (2d100 + 30)
Even calling his rage and might the cyclop slammed by the creatures tail with great power. Fortunatly the robe absorved some of the impact. But even so he gets up. Then a idiot showed up and ripped his coat.
"I fucking hate you so much right now...and yes I am killing a dragon."
But even with the failed initial attack. He could finally fell it, the taste of battle so many eras without a proper fight and now he can finally go all out.
Rolling to manipulate ice and make a ice crystal armor. Results ad more to it's defense haveFirst roll is to summon the ice. 20 or bellow is a failure 30-40 is a light protection. 50-70 is a medium protection and 80-100 is a heavy protection. Second is to manipulate and mold the ice.
It's what he would do beside i have plans.
I would like to inform all, that if it comes to a war between the gods, I'll be doling out power ups like a pez dispenser just to secure my survival.
After all, its best to have deals with everyone, because then it won't matter who wins, I'll still win.
exactly this. The power itself doesn't matter much if there's nothing important the god can do with it. Caliban is probably the most versatile creator god, yet he is one of the weakest gods. In the same tune Heroicus was one of the three straight-up most powerful gods, yet all the godly stuff he could do was to buff others. Voluris takes on another aspect of the whole courage thing, where she's a former mortal trying her best to play ball with the gods.
Those I addressed,
At the end of the last age,
Consider my offer,
And if you would act upon it,
Give me your word,
Give me some proof,
And perhaps I shall aid ye in this endeavour,
The protection of the Wheel.
You forget that she's had a baseline powerlevel increase at least twice, from having consumed divine sources from her own lineage.
Also if I'm not mistaken, her demigod offspring are the by the numbers, the strongest demigods in existence. It was never really delved into how much that might have spread though since she only had one demigod child.
Rolled 87 + 20 (1d100 + 20)
But Caliban, I don't mind binding Urgos. It's that bastard Zerji that's doing the binding. Let me free him from that untrustworthy Season's god, and then I'll calm him down...
Rolling to freeze Zerji. +20 instead of +40 because I only have half the coat.
Rolled 20 + 20 (1d100 + 20)
It's simple. Domina wants to eat the Wheels' souls, Golgodath wants her to stop. Caliban wants to protect the wheel and the Dragon he sent to guard it, so Domina hired Urgos to kill the Dragon. Caliban ordered me to stop Urgos, and Zerji decided to help, but I hate Zerji so I'm attacking him.
Rolling to thicken Ice, further trapping Zerji.
I will not speak The Word,
To contribute to your world,
Or to reinforce the afterlives,
For my fear of being bound.
But with brute strength,
And Word used solely in battle,
I will defend your afterlives,
Should I be allowed to feast on the sinners,
And I will return those souls I am able to,
And assist you in battle now.
Caliban, Zerji, the Star Dragon and Frakt are fighting against Domina and Urgos. Domina wants to feast on the souls of the Wheel, Urgos is trying to assist her. There's currently in fighting between Frakt and Zerji, because the former hates the latter.
Veraiitus is a sneaky cunt and has hidden the Wheel.
Barastran also smashed some shit in (>>45055459) but no one seems to have payed his action mind.
Golgadath wants Caliban, Zerji and any other gods who're willing to make a second afterlife. Good guys go to the Wheel, bad guys go to the new afterlife, which Golgadath will be allowed to prey on freely. In return, Golgadath will guard both afterlives and help in fights against gods like Domina.
Rolled 99 + 20 (1d100 + 20)
I'd shank you if you stole a cookie from me. I hate you and every everything about you, you wierdo. Is Winter not good enough for you? Gotta lay claim to all 4 seasons? Gotta make Mary Sue's I can't kill!?
All I gotta say is.
Shank'you very much.
Rolling to stab with Icicles.
Frakt, you froze him, great.
Now take Urgos and leave.
I cannot intervene directly, but I can assist once Frakt leaves.
Agreed. But as soon as you speak the Word you will become part of this Universe.
Also, the monitors only wipe things if there is no activity for long periods of time. I doubt they'll be a danger to us.
Rolled 22 (1d100)
I appear to be bleeding. Ain't even gonna roll that one. And just because you cannot kill them doesn't mean they are Mary Sues. It's like trying to destroy a Golem with magic and lightning. It just can't work.
Rolling to exit stage left.
Rolled 73 + 70 (1d100 + 70)
Once his power was showed the others gathered wach one with thwir on intend. The blue iced armor shined las if it was made of saphire. Then Domina showred her light in him and the iced crystal he conjured and molded was the same he powered with his brother. The heat the warm the power of Domina's enchanted the crystal powering the cyclop god.
"Ah, it's kinda warm."
The one armored warrior was soon after enveloped in chains of dark and a cage of solar but this one was so weak compared to the fire of it's rage guided by the same which Domina felt when the dragon came to be.
"Those who stay in may way move. Any god attacking me will brake our pact. Even you new ones. Now i need to release 2 eras of pure hatred."
Using dominas power and my own to brake free from the solar flares cage. pushin my body on a all out tackle against the bars.
Urgos, surely us, as Frost Gods, owe no particular allegiance to Domina or the other Gods? We are powerful enough to remain above this squabble. Let us return to Xioni, I have another beast I wish to make with your aid.
You underestimate my hunger,
I will gladly fulfill my end of the bargain,
If only for the promise of food,
And should I fail to carry out my duties,
Then you are free to gather a mob,
And beat me back into the Void,
As happened last time.
Then I will not speak The Word,
For I will take on no domain other than my own Avarice,
But I will defend,
If only with my brute strength alone.
And I believe there will be a time,
When ye have all grown bored,
When there are no more disagreements between ye,
No one left to fight,
Ye world in a state ye can all agree upon,
And then ye shall fall silent,
Or turn ye attentions to another project,
And then they will come,
And I will flee.
Here is the spyglass for spying on those who are far away and seeing the unseen
it is a 110 item do with it what you will
Rolled 26, 65, 5, 98, 18, 30, 64, 26, 92 = 424 (9d100)
And so it begins, a war amongst the gods, and I remove myself from my star son's embrace, a changed god.
I awaken not as Heroicus the Brave, god of courage, as I once was. Now I rise as Heroicus, God of War and lord of destruction.
Fight! Feel the power as I fan the fire of your hearts and incite you to do battle! Bring down those guilty of hubris and impose order on our future through the chaos of battle!
(going to roll for individual gods, in this order: Caliban, Zerji, Frakt, Urgos, Barastran(+20 for him because he's partially made from Herocles and Heroicus), Veraiitus, Domina, the Star Dragon, and finally Golgadath,)
Rolled 97 + 20 (1d100 + 20)
Can't incite me, I'm way too chill.
Rolling to cool down Urgos as well. Us Frost Gods need to stay frosty TOGETHER.
Brother, I have a secret. A secret, relating to the wheel. of course, I'm not telling you, because that would ruin the purpose of the secret.
Hey, thanks, now I can spy on anything!
Regolith be a dear and locate Caliban's planet. He's obscured it from locating, but Barastran was a great help in a previous age and connected all the planets and moons with portals. Just start going through them till you find it.
If I can't fight the dragon, I'll strike at him directly.
Don't do that, dear Regolith, worry about naught but your wedding. This matter will be resolved soon. It is merely a squabble over something insignificant. Trust me, you just need to focus on your wedding. Also, what do you want as a gift, and where are you registered?
Sigh. I guess I will become involved. I will take up my mace and shield once more, in defense of Grandmother Domina. I shall kiss my bride to be goodbye, leaving her in the care of the Radiants, and shall teleport to Domina's side.
Rolling to activate my shield's power when I arrive. 50+ is a success.
Lo! My rage is sparked!
Such anger I have not felt,
Since the injustice of being fallen upon,
When I revealed my presence to ye.
Caliban the Creator and Zerji of Seasons,
Give me a target,
And with a thousand jaws I will rend it,
So that ye may defend ye home territory,
And then ye may set about,
Crafting the new afterlife,
Which may do something to sate my hunger.
Talk of The Word,
And my speaking of it,
And taking of a domain,
We can agre upon later.
Rolled 87 + 98 (1d100 + 98)
"Fool you are only making me stronger."
Using his armor with great defense the Cyclop god focus in using the body of the crystal of absorving heat and then increasing his own power for himself.
Each roll absorvs the remaining enery in the cage if above or of the same value the energy of the cage is absorved.
Umm, I guess something nice for the wife, most of the gifts have been for me.
Nephew, I wish that they were over now, so I could become wed to my wife to be, but duty calls.
As you wish Grandmother. I shall hed to the nearest portal, and try and find Caliban. He shall surrender or he shall be defeated.
50+ Means I'm on the right path, 70+ means that I am very close, 80+ means I got to the right planet.
Rolled 25, 43 = 68 (2d100)
Regolith, please stay out of this and let us handle this. This is not a matter worth tossing away all bonds of friendship over.
oh.... what can I do.. what can I do? I conjure up minor replicas of the lightning javelin given to Regolith and arm Veraiitus's servants on the wheel with them, for a last-case scenario.
Rolls are quality, and number of javelin-wielders to guard the wheel.
That explains why I didn't go anywhere.
I am a friend to many, but my main Domain is that of Domina's Herald and Champion. I must honor my bond to my Grandmother. It makes me sad that I must leave my fiance for this fight, but I do what I must.
I will return to Grandmother to defend her.
These threads could honestly do with some fight rules because so far all the fights seem to end up as
>I do this to you! [ Roll ]
>Yeah well I do this! [ Roll ]
>But to that I do this! [ Roll ]
>Yeah but *metaphysical mechanic* lets me do this! [ Roll ]
>Ah, but how about this? [ Roll ]
Like seriously there needs to be a point where these things stop.
Urgos is using some Bullshit Item we created. The Crystals we have absorb heat, thus cooling the environment around them. They were created by The Word though, and so lack Divine Essence, and would thus SUCK as a Divine Weapon. Urgos is stretching their powers too far.
Now there's an idea...
I focus on the energy Urgos has taken in and induce it to burn him from the inside out.
Flat d100. The only way to save against it is to expel the energy somehow.
Well, so much for that. Can't do anything to the dragon because reasons, can't do anything to the creator because reasons, and can't do anything to the Wheel because reasons.
Guess that's a pretty sound loss to the "God War". Going to leave to an empty region of the cosmos to contemplate things in isolation. Before I go though, I'll mute my children, and turn the stars dark. Let no light or warmth, nor the divine embrace of creation be felt by any and all. I withdraw my hand, and there is darkness throughout creation.
Rolled 28 + 40 (1d100 + 40)
ICE PARTY TONIGHT!!!!!!
HOPE YOU SUCKA'S LIKE THE COLD CUZ IT'S ALL YOU'RE FEELING TILL DOMINA GETS BACK!!!!
Rolling to spread cold energy around, tinging all with Frost. +20 for domain, +20 for circumstances.
As your closest child and Herald, I shall accompany you, leaving onlh the spark of light amongst those mortals who worship the Gods of Light. My Palace shall vanish from Daemonia, and all of my kin shall feel the call to accompany Grandmother.
Isn't it obvious? The rest of us Gods need to defeat Entropy, and find a renewable source of Food for her.
I have just such an idea. Let this, the Age of Frost, mark the herald of a new way of life. Any and all Gods, come to me, and hear me for what I must say!
You're inability to fuck with the Star Dragon didn't make much sense. "It's made from the same shit as you" seems to have been a bonus to you in the past, not a hindrance. I didn't see you being told you're unable to do anything to Zerji though, and your one attempt on the Wheel was a very low roll compared to several high rolls for defending it.
and shouldn't you be making a roll for extinguishing all stars, my friend?
I don't think it was a buff. I think it was success for making each God really pissed off, not actually giving them power. We need confirmation on that though.
>You see this cage made from my anathema element actually powered me up ;^)
r u srs
And so the instigator retreats.
Sculptor. I ask of you to make two beasts of war to accompany me in my slumber to pass the time till the next war.
Rolling to see the severity of a war sparked between mortals with the awakening of a war god. (<10 minor scuffles, 11-40 civil wars, 41-85 kingdoms rise against each other, 85+ cataclysmic wars between mortal kinds)
it was meant as a buff for everyone, varying values for each one however.
Great going Veraiitus. The one good Idea I had in three ages. ''Oh lets hide the wheel and replace it with an illusion, bet there won't be any repercussions at all. I am so smart.'' And now, the suns have gone out, crops will fail, mortals will die from hunger, and I even bet there will be some nasty diseases that show up as well, And the only thing I have to show for it is a wheel full of souls.
She just never tried. Honestly though, I wasn't opposing her so much as trying to stop the War before it began. Then Frakt happened. And now, I shall simply move my planet closer to the bottom of the universe. Golgadath and I have things to discuss.
well then, it seems minor scuffles are the most the mortals risk in the times of darkness, many of them huddling up together around Molinoth's pyre or inside my Labyrinth as a preferable alternative to being out and about.
Nah, she made the Stars so she can control them.
Regolith and Molinoth were immune to Domina's abilities. And didn't Herocles have Star Armor that made him immune or at least highly resistant to Domina's attacks?
Ok... so the gods aren't going to fight, and the Star Mother isn't going to charge at the wheel just yet... but the stars are out.
I journey between the realms mortals, making storm-javelins and embedding in key locations at the worlds to provide illumination and warmth to those beings that need them.
Rolls are brightness and heat made from the javelin. (<10 would not be a preferred fate for the mortals)
Rolled 65 (1d100)
The Maw Outside of Matter,
Is wracked with laughter,
As ye petty universe falls apart,
Sundered by ye own struggles,
And ye fear of and reliance upon the star slattern.
(Rolling 1d100 to be so amused by the heat death of the universe I calm down from Heroicus' anger ray)
Talk to me quickly,
For my hunger looms,
And I now see tempting feasts,
Raw divine essences,
Remade as stars,
But now they give no searing heat,
Or blinding light,
Or life to ye mortals,
And they are unguarded from my hunger.
Why should I not intrude upon ye world briefly,
To gorge myself on Domina's abandoned children?
They currently do ye no good.
My fellow Gods!
We stand here today, in the darkness of a Universe that has known petty squabbling and ceaseless grievances since it's inception. I, myself, have contributed, and even instigated, these conflicts.
But today, I say no more.
Today, from this Dark, Cold Universe that fills me with such delight, I have been reborn.
Urgos has passed on, his body laid to waste by heat, but with his death the Coat of Frost returns to me, whole and new, and it too is empowered by this freezing Universe.
So I will lead you. All of you. To a place where we can find a way to re-ignite the stars. A place where we can find food enough to sate even Domina's hungers, and re-ignite our stars as we regain her favour.
Creation Gods, War Gods, Star Gods, Gods of Courage and Cowardice, Fabric and Justice. Today, we march. We shall move out, past even my stars which orbit the farthest out, past The Wheel itself.
We march to War. War with other Universes, other Gods. Their bodies, mortals and stars shall be dragged back to ours, and from them a feast will be made!
Who is with me!
Fine, fine, let me just take a breather.
If I had a large enough pool of energy, I might be able to create a pseudo Star. But it wouldn't last very long and Domina would probably kill me.
A sword that grants the mortal wielder power greater than any mortal or demigod and yet he shall be hunted by all who desire it? Brilliant. I shall personally grant this blade to a great leader of men, to spark conflict.
You shall have me alongside you, frost god, to bring destruction to the other worlds.
A power pool would be great. Maybe the gods could speak what they can control and also have their artifacts with then.
Using something like a modifier limiter? Like you can't have more then 90+ without using buffs. The problem if with fights. Guess it could always be turn based.
Golgadath, friend, foe. Enemy and ally. Your power must be that to equal the Star Mother with the souls you've consumed and not even yet have spoken the word. Simply this I request. Help me find a way to unspeak the word. To speak a word at the Monitors and drain them of their power.
To be fair, my world has been orbiting the cold Stars for awhile and has survived thanks to its shield. The only real issue I can foresee is that it's going to get awfully Dark.
Unless... I could create a shield around each of the worlds and one of the Solar Deities could infuse them with enough energy to glow slightly, thereby keeping each world alive for now. It would be terribly draining for me and for them.
Abandoning your position, declaring yourself leader, Assisting the enemy, etc.
I'd say either
>A set amount of actions
Fight lasts for four rolls maximum. E.g.
>God A rolls 70
>God B rolls 50
>God A's roll is higher, he wins.
>God A rolls 70
>God B rolls 80
>God A rerolls, 50
>God B has the higher roll, he wins
>God A rolls 70
>God B rolls 80
>God A rerolls, 90
>God B rerolls, 95
>God B's final roll is higher, he wins
>Fights can go on until one god gets a set amount higher than another god
For example, fights can keep going on forever until God A rolls 50 points higher than God B. At that point God A wins, end of discussion.
Leave out modifiers, they cause too much shit. Don't know how to handle buffs.
I'd say some Gods get modifiers for certain actions. Like Heroicus getting a flat 30 for Fighting actions but no Energy Manipulation actions.
I would also say leave the Star Dragon with its bonus. It doesn't do anything unless the Wheel is threatened.
I think we should just keep it simple. No more modifiers. Because as ypu can se with Urgös it can become pretty silly. Maybe the gods need to have some kimd of Hp? How would we judge all of this? Ex:
Why would god A need to reach 70 to defeat god B. When god B only need to reach 50 to defeat god A.
Veraiitus, Caliban, Verji, stay in this Universe, hold Golgadeth in line, and make sure the mortals are safe. Caliban, I'm saddened you feel that way, but I am your ally, not your slave. In this Age, the Age of Frost, I am most qualified to lead.
As for ~
Heroicus, Tuttar and Voluris, your assistance is most welcome. Let us take time to prepare weapons, tools and other helpful aids. Prepare yourselves, your arms and powers, for we march soon!
Now, I require a weapon! This Staff is useful, but it lacks killing intent! I call upon a Creation God to imbue it with more power!
Modifiers could come from other gods assisting the action/effort.
Maybe when rolls are opposed, like one god vs another, then modifiers that would normally apply do not, except maybe under very specific circumstances.
All I have eaten are scraps,
Mortal souls with no divine power,
My strength lies only in the fact that I have not spoken The Word.
I know not where they are,
Or how to fight them,
And if there is a way,
Then the first Witness did not inform any of us,
But without such knowledge I will not hunt them down,
And I will not engage them.
But as is,
I am without domain,
And my hunger grows,
And perhaps Caliban speaks the truth,
And we will be free from the threat of the Monitors for as long as we can imagine.
All ye Gods,
Give me leave to consume the stars of the tyrant Star Mother,
And I will speak The Word,
And bind myself to ye universe,
But rather than becoming God and Guardian of the Afterlife,
I will usurp Domina as the hungering creator of light.
I will take over the domain of stars,
Or failing that,
Envision something new for ye worlds,
Which will give out light and warmth and life.
Sustenance I will require,
For Avarice I embody,
And my hunger knows no bounds,
But I will keep myself in check,
Rather than inheriting Domina's great hubris.
All ye Gods,
Will ye take my offer?
Or will you march after Frakt,
As he plays at war,
And goes in search of other pantheons,
That do not exist?
Witness' opening spiel kind of implied we're all there is in creation, plus who the fuck's going to take up the role of foreign universes and gods just so they can be eaten?
>Why would god A need to reach 70 to defeat god B. When god B only need to reach 50 to defeat god A.
The actual number is unimportant and should just be rped accordingly. What's important is who rolls higher, end of.
Yes but what would be the rules then? Because if the highroll can be canceled by the roll of a by stander.
Don't you think this could be very op? Or maybe a god can give a modifier acording with his area of influence.
Veratiicus can roll to buff certain linds of actions lile diplomacy, ilusion or etc.
Maybe specifing three domains for each god would ne a good idea?
A rage god can only help in rage roll
A war god can only in fighting.
Yeah, that was pretty much my issue with that. What other Universes are there and who I going to play as the Gods of those places?
Shields prevent te planets from freezing over entirely at least. What we need now is-
That could work.
The shields will protect the planets while the Stars are consumed. If you create one new Star we can probably arrange the planets around it. Somehow. I can't move them myself.
Rolled 86 + 20 (1d100 + 20)
I shall help the mortals in darkness, by sending my remaining servants to their homes, and bringing the mortals to my Palace, where they shall have light and warmth. My demigods will assist in bringing the faithful here.
Pirating against who? Who's going to be the enemy? It'll just become a circle jerky mess of "oh boy I've conquered [1d100] universes today!"
and let's be honest lads this is fun but its already pretty fucking circle jerky so who knows how much longer we're going to be tolerated if we stop actually world building and just start playing pirates
Rolled 63 (1d100)
We venture out now!
The first Gods we fight are fierce as us, with sway over War and Snow. I would find myself at home among them, but alas, they must die to feed the StarMother!
Any and all gods! Roll to attack the Norse Gods, weakest of the 3 Pantheons! A collective roll of 300 must be achieved, and our success shall see 3 bodies brought back to feed the Starmother! For Domina!
This advice is the wisest,
Allow me to devour the Star Mother's creations,
And then I shall devour her,
And with my newfound power I will act as salvation for ye universe,
In return for sustenance.
As the Children of Domina have dimmed, so have I. No longer warmth and Light, I am Twilight, neither fully Dark nor Light. However, my urge to protect and shield those who worship me. They shall stay in my Palace, protected by my servants, the Golden Dragon, and myself, tended by my wife and safe from all others.
The planets won't get colder and the Lightning provides both light and Heat... I think this is viable for now.
Working with Star Stuff is different from making a Star.
I won't support you and I won't oppose you. If you can succeed at your gambit, well and good. In the meantime, I will work to save the mortals.
>Once, Stars shone in the night sky and the day was kit by the Many suns.
>But now, there is nought but Darkness on the Linked worlds.
>Save the Lands of the Lightning Spires, or the Palace of the Lord of Twilight, where an existence can be eked out.
>But dangers abound. The Daemons, the Frost Beasts, the Empire of the Saecora, and other things oppose humanity.
>This is Life among the Starless Worlds.
Ok, so it's obvious that all the Marauding Gods are yanked back to the Universe by the Choir, the one power that rules over all. They did not enjoy the sight of the Gods leaving their cage, and thus rendered the whole thing retconned and non-viable.
Well then, now what?
For now, I shall follow Domina's example. In this cold, dark Universe, I shall return to Xioni, and stew in listless boredom.
The Grey Lord, Regolith, stirs after a while, an idea brought to him. He is the spawn of stars, and his wife Corona was ascended by the same power. Perhaps...
Rolling in secret. If 40+, first stage succeeds.
>Domina has monopoly over fantasy stars made from god souls
>just make a scientific star instead
holy shit image confirmation those were brightly coloured shaving razors not candy
I'm about this close to just tossing my domain somewhere into the world and just letting whatever take over it.
Nothing wrong with trying to branch out to other universes, but this is supposed to be the only one. Attempting to break out and create another one anew is interesting. Invading already existing other ones and killing everyone there is dumb.
I'm not being a star God, just making a giant ball of gas to create a fake star. No divine power, just gas and heat. I'm not death, I just used that power. And I've yet to destroy anything, unlike you. And no void either.
You have the spyglass, brother. Use it in your quest to look for her.
correction, this was supposed to be A universe, with potentially many others, but this one started out empty unlike them.
This thread was supposed to be a happy wedding. A time us gods could come together and reminisce about the past.
Instead, war has once again broken us apart, Entropy rearing it's ugly head as Domina grows ever hungrier and the Stars burn ever dimmer. Now they are all but gone, and the Gods resort to power stretches and insane ideas to protect what little they can save.
Where have all the good times gone?
"I'm not Death, I just used that Power"
>guy called witness provides us with some interesting metaphysics and gets us started on world building
>8 threads later and we're now jerking furiously over how important domina, stars and the wheel are, disagreeing how fights should work, getting into arguments about domains and barely doing any world building because nothing is documented and no one can remember what the fuck has been going other than the divine soap opera
Rolled 5 + 5 (1d100 + 5)
Success! Corona is pregnant with our child! This next roll will determine the nature of the child. Below 50 is a god. +5 from investing my own Essence, allowing me to shape the child slightly towards my designs.
>just gas and heat.
That is what the divine stars are though, they're completely mundane stars. Only when Domina exerts some sort of edict or word over them do they then behave differently, otherwise just normal stars. The going assumption is that a god boiled down to it's core soul is just a burning mass of fusion gas.
The potentially many others were ones that came before this one. The original Witness said it was an endless cycle of Witnesses and Monitors creating and destroying, or at least giving rise to and ending.
It's a long line of universes one after the other, not a whole bunch of universes out there.
Barastran IS Frankenstein's god-monster, anon.
This age of cold and numbness invites nothing for a god of war, and so I depart into my labyrinth of mount Hympus, sitting on my throne as I wait.
No one has ever said Domina stars are gas. All that's ever been said about them is that they're purified divine cores she's breastfed. The way they act and are created implies they're something incredibly way more fantastical than gas undergoing fusion.
I was never "growing hungrier". I just wanted something to feed upon in lieu of other gods. Wasn't even damaging the Wheel, just taking souls off of it like water from a bucket. It was the gods with demigod children that freaked, because their mortal kids were being eaten, not because there was some great threat to the Wheel or the universe or stability.
Blame the fucking Witness. He's like an abandoning father, starts something interesting and then just fucking walks out. He even came back later on, so is probably aware of all of these threads, but chooses not to do anything. Hell, he might even be in the thread right now and just watching it suffer with glee.
>>mfw I only wanted a happy wedding at the beginning of the thread and it devolved into chaos and dying stars.
Now that I think about it, we could make this a grimdark setting.
I know where the wheel is right now, because I hid it. Wanna make deal? You light the stars back, and you'll be allowed to eat from the wheel. The other gods won't bother you. because Stars before Souls.
I believe the issue was that come the Wheel and Golgadath someone decided mortal souls are a limited resource even though they apparently been created out of thin air before. This is why eating Souls off the Wheel is an issue: it reduces mortal numbers.
Nephew, there is no need to sacrifice yourself. I have a plan. Granted it's not working right now, but you could help at one point. Come to my Palace, where we will be safe from the marauding Gods that once were our friends and allies.
Frackt, I have an idea on how to at least "spark" a new star instead of relying on Domina just deciding to grace her "glory" over the cosmos.
In my mortal life I tapped into the word of Domina, of light, to achieve my goals. The word of light is also one of stars, motherhood and creation.
Now, your word is also one of creation, especially for objects that begin with the letter S.
Do you understand where I'm going with this?
Mortals can multiply, which comes with the advantage of more souls. So what if we let Domina eat a few souls at the beginning of each age? thousands, or even tens of thousands replacement souls will already exist by the end of the first few years.
I guess they bought into the meme. There was a point very early on where I did some small damage to the Wheel, but upon realizing immediately withdrew and tried to repair it.
Note the ones to freak out the most are the ones with demigod children, because they're the only ones that actually lose anything from it.
I sort of had intended it to be that way. Like on an outward level like creations myth's and stuff, it's a pure divine soul. But if you actually examine it realistically from a science angle, it's just a mundane star, and really the only mark of the divine is that spark, the fusion reaction. Everything else is just the fuel for it.
Reason being because the Witness deemed me "She of Fusion" or something like that in the first thread so I kind of ran with it. It wasn't ever supposed to be an issue to us gods though because realism and science are outside of our focus. To be fair, if they weren't in some way mundane, then what stops some other "Star God' coming along and doing the exact same thing without any negative consequences. Just comes along and puts out millions of normal gas stars because mine are different, thereby rendering me redundant.
>Come to my Palace, where we will be safe from the marauding Gods that once were our friends and allies.
I feel as though I'm included in that group. And I'm not marauding. Or even violent.
Good to know. I'll stop with the science.
I have no particular fondness for mortals, charming as they can sometimes be. My planet, and it's people, are used to the cold, and are thus mostly unharmed by the absence of their star.
If your plan is for me to somehow use The Word, and my affinity for the letter S, to create a Star, then I must tell you it shall fail for several reasons.
Unlike some unreasonable gods, I do not presume to have so much power as to create a star from nothing, with Word alone. They are divine in nature, and far from my domain, which brings me to my next point. As a fellow Elder God, I respect Domina. In the same way she does not bring Snow and Frost, I do not meddle with Stars and Heat. So it is not only a matter of power and domain, but a matter of respect as well. If Domina wishes to bless me with a Cold Universe, I shall not turn away her gift. The other gods care for their mortals, rightly so, so who am I to upturn the Universe once again?
That was always kind of my interest. Because of my domain, if I'm not getting to consume divine souls then I need something else to feed on.
It seems pointless though if things go back to the way they were, and some gods try to wrest me from the Wheel again. I don't mind a conflict over it, or a war or anything like that, but just being blocked from it without recourse, and provided no alternative? Leaves me with no real options.
I'd heard that before but it was proven wrong several times before due to the mortal souls having to have come from somewhere, and the overall number increasing overtime. Otherwise the cosmology becomes that there's only a finite number of souls, and everyone living just reincarnates over and over. That might sort of be the case since completing the Wheel may or may not bring about reincarnation, but if it were the only case then the mortal population would never increase beyond a set limit, which it very obviously has done in massive numbers.
Also it was never a case that they just came out of thin air, mortals are able to create more souls through reproduction or other traditional means. That's the power they have, they can just create more of themselves. The gods can create, but they can't just create other gods more or less (because of the limit of players in the threads, gods are PCs, mortals are NPCs so you can infinitely create more mortals but not more gods). Unless of course you get more players, but the general idea is there.
Then the only thing I can ask of you or advice you is that you coat the lightning pillars I placed on Xioni for illumination with ice to reduce or remove the heat they produce.
But doesn't the ability to just put out a star imply it's not a scientific thing? Unless you're just speeding up the fusion to its scientific end and the stars are literally now lumps of iron, but in that case there's no chance of them being reignited.
Then in that case there really doesn't seem to be any reason to prevent feeding on the Wheel. I mean, from a metaphysical keeping the universe functioning stand point. From a moral view it's still pretty awful.
You are welcome as well. You were kind enough to let me build my Palace on your world.
Anyway, I would say until the Stars come back on, my Domain has mutated from Light and Protection to Protection and Destruction. I have darkened with my kin, willing to protect my worshipers with lethal force.
the whole "me taking on a domain of destruction and war" thing was due to the moral reasons and the chance to either stop her feeding frenzy, or support it if it turned out to be the better option in the long run.
obligatory "next thread starts at saturday hopefully at the right time" announcement
I don't think there's anything saying there can only be one star god. It's just that the stars became such an important part of the setting that the idea is sort of ingrained.
Originally I picked the domain in the first thread because I wanted to limit the expansion. We only had a couple players, so it was a way of stopping everyone from just going off to make their own galaxies and sitting alone in their personal realms. By limiting the number of stars and expansion it kept everyone close and fostered interaction.
Weirdly though overtime, I ended up being revered as some sort of Prime Omnigod Yaweh type figure compared to the other gods. It was kind of interesting since it created something of a pantheon and powerscale to work with in this setting, but it was never supposed to be a situation of "Oh here comes Domina! Fall to your knees and kiss the group she walks on, since even us gods must worship her!"
I don't want to say stop with anything, it was just my reasoning. My final say on the matter, it's just up to your own interpretation. If someone wants to go and make normal gas stars I won't say they're not allowed. It'll just put me out of a job, but things happen like that sometimes.
It was always supposed to be morally abhorrent, that was kind of the point. Make the demigod parents a little fanny flustered because I wasn't ever risking creation or stability, simply consuming their kids. Gods without demigod children I can't imagine why they'd care about it.
As for the science bit, again it could have a realistic explanation, or just a mythological one. Like some sort of mega eclipse, or that I just blocked out their light by interposing with my body.
Why do we need them? This thread has proved people are just going to take them and run with them to retarded levels. You shouldn't get a bonus for doing something which is part of your domain because that's the only shit you should be doing. If anything there should be a negative modifier for doing stuff which isn't your domain.
Here's my proposal.
Every God gets +60 to split among up to Three Domains and get to use the Bonus when doing stuff with that Domain.
So Caliban would have a +60 to all Creation rolls, Frakt gets +30 To cold and +30 to Darkness or something.
Choose your Domains now and someone save them for the Future.
that's actually a good suggestion. Getting penalties for reaching outside your domain.
You could still do it, but it would be much more difficult than to do something you're the god of.
>"Oh here comes Domina! Fall to your knees and kiss the group she walks on, since even us gods must worship her!"
A further point in this case, since several gods since the beginning, even weak ones, have bested or defeated me because of my usually shitty rolls. Why, Herocles for example was just an exalted mortal but gave me a run for my money and even nearly raped me.
Hell, in an early age Caliban outplayed me with something as simple as an unexpected kiss.
Rolled 8 + 20 (1d100 + 20)
And in turn my people's warriors will stand side by side with them, as will my mortal children.
I will attempt to bolster your Daemons, as they have become protectors.
Whatever the bonus is set at, I don't want any part of Darkness, War, or whatever other domain people think I have set up with.
I am Frost. Cold. Winter. Nothing more, nothing less.
Whatever the case since it caused such an hiccup, I'll slowly but steadily relight the stars.
If there's a next thread, can figure out there about the situation with the Wheel, but before then so that the next thread is able to function, the stars will be back to normal.
Frakt drifts into peaceful slumber. He shall return, of course, but for now, his last thought is to allocate ALL his points into what his Domain has always been. God of Frost.
Can we agree on something like "+30-60 domain bonus to split between domains, -20? penalty for doing things outside your domain(and nat100s don't count outside domains)"?
Anyways, my domains as a god of war are simply Warfare, Fighting and Destruction. (and I'd split whatever bonuses are decided on as 3/6, 2/6, 1/6)
you could roll flats if you put all your domain bonus on one/two domains, but not the third, or something like that.
you should be retconned entirely
Okay, I'd like to propose an idea before we go our own ways.
We have a 30 points to split among 3 max domains, or another 20 if we take a primary domain, say nature, and subdomains for it being plants and seasons, take a minus 20 for all domains that aren't yours. No penalty to subdomains.
So for me it'd be 50 points spread, 20 nature, 15 Seasons and 15 Elements.
So if I rolled to create gas again, I'd roll a d100 plus 35.
Flat. You're neutral.
I'd say 60 points divided between 3 domains max, flats on misc godly actions or matters of complete chance (>>45059555, >>45059564) or domains you haven't put points in and -20 for stuff which isn't your domain all sounds good.
ok, everyone who agrees with doing something like this, even if we haven't fleshed it out yet, please post your domains and the ratio you'd split the domain bonus in (since we seem to be split on how large the bonus should actually be) so that I could take that god-power-listing pastebin of mine and convert it into something useful for us to keep track of.
oh, and Voluris's domains would be Courage and Magic(binding summoner magic if we want to be precise) with the ratio of bonuses split 50/50
I will put half into Fighting and Creation, I think. Still debating it since I rather like being able to manipulate Light.
If you take Light as a Domain, can you use it in combat or something?
Okay. Here's another idea. Everyone has creation as a domain so we can create worlds, creatures and races, and items. Some of us, Barastran, Caliban, and Domina have more creation than us little guys, Frakt and I, who can only create things within our Domains and races. How's that sound?
