>This is a quest taking place in an alternate version of the Naruto world during the same time period as the story, with a few notable differences. You will be playing as Kon Karagowa, a young Leaf Jonin. Your character is defined by your choices, so write-ins are always encouraged. And remember to have fun!
At least now we can tell Tenten why we never use the sword. All the techniques we have that use a sword would have broken the damn thing.
That said, I would be fully willing to get another bladed weapon of similar length made of chakra metal that we COULD use with the sword. Or of getting a Kyoketsu-Shoge with a cord of chakra wire so we can use it to cut through the things we bind.
Every time I see the OP image I can't help but wonder what Konoha's plan is for when they run out of space on the Hokage Mountain. Those are some big heads, and to keep them at a level where they can all loom over the village sharply limits available space. Once they hit ten or so Hokages there's not going to be any room left. Who will be the first Hokage to admit that it's just not practical to keep adding monuments to an already-overloaded mountain? Will it not happen until all the space has been used up, or will someone recognize the trend and stop the practice early?
To be honest I don't think any of the founders actually expected the village to last past the seventh Hokage.
I mean, think of how many other villages got eaten up during their lives, and how fast that was.
You stand before all your teammates, each victorious over their Akatsuki adversaries.
No one really seems to be in a rush to get anywhere right now. From what you can tell, everyone's battles seem to have taken their toll. Haku, Shino, Kurotsuchi and Deikida are all sitting on the ground leaning against trees much like B, trying to regain their strength. The four of them seem to have various parts of their bodies wrapped in thread for some reason. You suspect it's likely one of Fuu's jutsu. Speaking of which, you look to Fuu and Tenten. Despite clearly being tired, the two of them seem to have only minor injuries. After the initial shock of the Raikage's appearance, everyone notices you and Akatsuchi, and waves the two of you down.
The Raikage is currently busy talking with B, and you don't see any of you leaving before them anyway.
>A.Go talk to someone (Specify)
>B.Listen in on the Raikage and B
>C.Just sit and rest with the others
True, it was a gamble that the ninja village system would work at all. But against all odds they've managed to last long enough for us to have six Hokages, and assuming that the world doesn't end there will probably be a seventh, eighth, and maybe even ninth as well. We need to start making plans for what happens once we hit peak monument. Giant mountains are not a sustainable resource.
>A.Go talk to someone (Specify)
Ask Deikida, Kurotsuchi and Tenten how the fight with Deidara went. B's fine, and we saw that explosion, so presumably he's dead. But details are always nice. Also apologize for not being there to cancel out his explosions.
Slump down on against a tree by Tenten and Kurotsuchi, ask how everything went and congratulations all round let's not do this again to soon. Ask the girls so who is in the lead for best female ninja
So your solution is to, what, raise the mountain up and make it taller? That would destroy the foundations of a large portion of the village. It's not practical. No, for the good of our descendants, we must switch to a sustainable form of honoring our history. I propose murals.
I have read up on all archive chapters, in a period of 4 days.
And i want to compliment you for improving as the qeust went on, and also making us a unique piece in the story.
Some people just can't appriciate a good story, instead they wanted us to be the new naruto.
I for one, am extremely happy with the way our story isn't railroaded to be naruto-isk and that we shape our own future. Maybe at times, i'd wish you would place an ABCDE, with one of the options actually being flirting seeing i imagine. At this point we are sensible enough to make a few remarks here and there, so far its been pretty shounen MC, but more because of how hard it is to get consensus on flirting write ins.
Write ins are pretty hard to win, if you have you it so that when you chose an option, you have to add a bit of text/flavor to it.
Making sure every answer is actually unique and inspired by your voters
You and Akatsuchi make your way over to your teammates, and you slump down against a tree near Kurotsuchi, Deikida, and Tenten.
"Well, I beat him. Shame about losing that sword though." you sigh. "Destroyed it while performing my finishing blow. How did you guys make out?"
Tenten laughs. "I'm not surprised. That thing was pretty flimsy. Maybe now you can use the money you'll get to buy a real weapon. I could maybe help you out with that, of course. Wasn't your birthday next month? How does a discount sound?"
"It was quite a fight those guys put up." Akatsuchi interjects, changing the subject. "Those two seemed particularly adverse to dying. One's still alive even now, as only a severed head."
"Gross." Tenten recoils a bit at the description. "Nice work though. That was the same guy that got away before, wasn't he? I bet you're feeling pretty good right about now."
"As he should." Kurotsuchi adds. "Taking down an S class criminal like that alone is nothing short of incredible. That's the kind of performance expected from Kage level ninja. Yet it took the three of us to defeat Deidara. I think some serious training may be in order."
"We did just fine." Tenten replies. "Against explosions like that? Normal ninja would have been blown to pieces in minutes. I say it's pretty impressive that we all got out okay."
"That was mostly thanks to me, though." Tenten smirks.
>A.Ask exactly what happened
>B.Apologize for not being able to help
>C.Say something else
>D.Go talk to someone else
Maybe that's not the direction Laze wants to head in this quest.
He does a decent job of making interactions as real worldy as possible, so he could also not want to have to deal with anons bitching and complaining that their 'smooth' (read: cringy and heavy-handed) flirting resulted in nothing more than the girl never talking to them again.
He hasn't handed you some dumb girl on a silver platter like most qm's do, so it could be either one.
>C. "Credit where credit's due, Akatsuchi saved my ass more than once in the fight, and I sent Enma his way to help restrain the actually immortal guy. Get this though, Tenten. You remember those four Sound Ninja, from just after the Chunin exams?" Explain about how we fought them again.
>A. Ask exactly what happened.
Oh, its not that i suggest, he should take all the player write ins on flirting, because damn. Alot of them haven't grown past their autism.
But normally we don't have an option to actually flirt, because there will never be a consensus to support an autistic attempt at flirting.
Eventhough the majority of voters, might want to flirt but are scattered. so to say.
And i enjoy the way the qeust is headed,
Focused on the MC and everybody is pretty realistic.
As for flirting write-ins
I've never flirted in my life, so I'm certainly not going to try and come up with something for your guy's character to say, and trust me that's a good thing
So it's down to the majority of anons agreeing on what to say.
The fact that this heavily delays any romantic interaction is just a convenient bonus for me.
I know that's not what you suggest.
>But normally we don't have an option to actually flirt, because there will never be a consensus to support an autistic attempt at flirting.
Eventhough the majority of voters, might want to flirt but are scattered. so to say.
Read >>45035860 even if it's just the first line.
You always appreciate praise, but there's no need to hog all the glory.
"I've got to give credit where it's due." you say. "Akatsuchi really pulled through for me more than once in that fight."
You go on to tell of the whole fight in detail, including the surprise appearance of the Sound ninja. Tenten's shocked at that, and listens intently to your fight again the odds, while your explanation seems to continue to impress Kurotsuchi the more you go on. Eventually you finish, then decide to let the others get a word in.
"So what exactly happened with you guys?" you ask. "It seems like everything went pretty well."
"About as well as you could expect." Kurotsuchi begins. "Constant bombardment does not make for pleasant battle conditions. Deikida and I spent most of the battle running interference for Tenten so she could get B away from Deidara. Intercepting his bombs with our own jutsu. It took a while, and we eventually managed, but not without incurring some injuries. Once Tenten got B out, we went full throttle and put his back to the wall. Deikida showed quite the initiative there. She got up close and very nearly took him out herself. Then, he seemed to get upset and opened a mouth on his chest. After putting some clay in there, we could tell we needed to leave. If it wasn't for Tenten coming back for us, we'd never have made it out."
Tenten is smirking hearing her role in the story, while Deikida has been silent this whole time. She's clearly less proud of killing her brother.
>A.Ask something else
>B.Talk to somebody else
>B.Talk to somebody else
Ask Team Haku how fighting Kisame went. Did Haku get to screw up his water sharks by freezing them solid? I hope he did.
Also this. She's family, we should see if we can do anything nice for her. Maybe not come up to her and do the whole "how are you holding up" speech, since that could come off as patronizing. But we should still find some way to support her until she's feeling better.
>Maybe not come up to her and do the whole "how are you holding up" speech, since that could come off as patronizing.
Yeah that was part of why i suggested to OFFER. If she doesn't want to talk that's fine, if she does it's fine.
You make a note to talk to Deikida later in private. She's family, and you should probably make sure she's okay, but you'd rather not make her talk in front of all these people.
You leave Tenten and the Stone ninja to their own for a bit and make your way over to the rest of your team a short ways away. Haku and Shino are both sitting and recuperating. Haku is leaning against his sword and has several threads wrapped around him, but Shino is wrapped in so many threads it almost looks like he's in a full body cast. Given that he's moving just fine in there, you have to wonder if it's really necessary.
"Hey Kon!" Fuu waves at you as you approach and take a seat. "How did your battle go? Do you need some treatment too?"
>A.Tell them how your fight went
>B.Ask what the threads are for
>C.Ask how the battle with Kisame went
>Shino is wrapped in so many threads it almost looks like he's in a full body cast. Given that he's moving just fine in there, you have to wonder if it's really necessary.
The implications are adorable.
You want to explain, but your curiosity gets the better of you first.
"So what's with the threads?" you ask. "Shino looks like a mummy."
"It's one of my jutsu!" Fuu explains. "I can wrap these threads around any wound and help it heal faster. I started to treat Shino, but then I thought about how all his bugs might be hurt too, so I just wrapped him all the way up to make sure."
"Quite thoughtful of her." Shino says from his place on the ground, before quietly mumbling another sentence. "I doubt it will make any difference, but that's okay."
"I see." you respond. "Well, I've taken care of myself for the most part, so I'll pass on the thread treatment."
You go on to once again describe your battle against Kakuzu and Hidan, with yet another attentive audience. Once you finish, you move to get some details of your own.
"So then, Haku." you start. "How did the battle against Kisame go? Did you get what you wanted out of it?"
"I think so." Haku replies. "I wasn't strong enough to fight him on my own, though. I guess it was foolish of me to try."
"Nonsense." Shino interrupts. "You were pushing him back with no help at all from us until he transformed. In a battle of swordsmanship, you were the clear victor."
"Thank you, Shino." Haku brightens up a bit. "Kisame merged with Samehada and took on a more powerful form, and we were forced to fight him all at once. But between the three of us, his attacks were little use. Shino drained his chakra, Fuu obstructed his movements, and I froze his water attacks. I was eventually able to get him caught in an Ice Prison, and from there it was over. He did say one last thing. He said that he was sorry for insulting Zabuza, and that the both of them died the same way. Fighting to create the world they desired."
"That was when he summoned sharks to devour him." Shino goes on. "He must have wanted to leave no trace of himself."
>B. Talk to someone else.
We're technically trespassing on Lightning territory. Kon, as the diplomat, should probably go and talk to the Raikage to give an official explanation for his presence. Or at least say, "It's been a long day. Can we just assume formalities were covered?"
Also fistbump B.
I don't know. We keep showing him up. This is the second time his brother's been attacked by Akatsuki in Cloud's own territory, only for Kon to get there and save B first. I think we're going to give A some inadequacy issues if we keep this up.
We just need go into battle with him sometime or take some lesson from him.
I want A and B to be our sensei now.
We gotta get all the Kage's to teach us now.
Imagine all the lightning based moves we could learn!
We gotta come up with a cool rap before Laze gets back!
>We saved yo butts now time to go!
>That shit was crazy with immortals, sharks and bombs!
>I'm just glad no one got killed by the guy with a mouths in his palms!
On the peaks, in the snow, he's a spooky mofo,
Everything's gone loony, 'cause the mountain's haunted by
It's gotta be a ghost! (Yeah, boy!)
He's fat, he's fly,
He's tall as the sky,
Always grabs his rocks when the bitches walk by!
He's an ice-cold sucker,
Killed a thousand mighty men, hyah!
He's so fast, comin' up on your ass,
Gonna knock ya in the air, cause he's jumpin' everywhere,
In your face! (Yeah~!)
And the dude's so handsome,
All the bitches wanna pants him!
There's no need to bust a tumor,
'Cause it's nothin' but a rumor!
No, but thanks to his parasitic nature he's in control of the Ten-Tails' pod people, making him a one-man army. So even if his personal combat skills aren't that great, he has a serious advantage of numbers.
Reminder that if he did come back to life and we still had the Kusanagi, he could simply command it to stab us and it would. Giving it away to Anko is probably the best idea possible, in that scenario.
You leave all your teammates to finish resting up and head over to A and B, who seem to be just about finished talking. As you approach, you but your fist out to B, who gladly meets it with his own.
"So I guess this must be Lightning territory, huh?" you ask. "I hope we aren't causing any problems trespassing. Can we just say that saving B again makes up for it?"
"Hmph." the Raikage scoffs. "While I can't condone your policy of asking for forgiveness rather than permission, I am grateful. If it wasn't for your team, B would have been long gone by the time I got here. So thank you."
You feel the Raikage's gratitude is reluctant, but genuine.
>A.Ask what this place is
>B.Ask why B has Samehada
>C.Tell A about Yugito
You recall the Raikage saying that there was no way that Akatsuki should have been able to get here. There must be something special about this place.
"So what exactly is this place?" you ask. "Why was B here?"
"I suppose there's no point in hiding it now." A sighs. "This island houses a temple for training Jinchuuriki to commune with their tailed beasts. We had a barrier around this island to any sensory jutsu and uninvited guests out. But Akatsuki must have found this place by scouting from the sky, then killed the ninja maintaining the barrier. It seems there is no place entirely safe from them. B would be better served closer to me, so I can respond to threats appropriately from now on."
With that out of the way, you recall that you have another bit of business with the Cloud.
"Lord Raikage." you start. "This may be hard to believe, but your other Jinchuuriki, Yugito Nii, has been brought back to life."
"What?" B blurts out. "You're talking crazy, fool!"
"He's not, B." the Raikage responds. "Yugito is alive. I heard from the Hokage. He informed me a few days ago, and has already sent a group to the Cloud with her. I hear she was brought back by an Akatsuki member with the Rinnegan. And that you and the Hokage's brother defeated him. Kids seem to be getting strong quite fast these days."
A turns to the rest of the group. "Alright, that's enough! We're all headed back to the Cloud! You can all rest there!"
Everyone follows the Raikage's lead, and gets ready to take off. You are all lead to a boat, which will be taking you to the mainland. Akatsuchi goes back to the other shore by himself to bring the ship you rode here on in after the rest of you.
You all have some time to relax on the ride over.
>A.Talk to someone
>B.Make the journey in silence
Ask A for some tips on lightning release. Probably in no way appropriate for us to ask but he might appreciate that we respect his power and wish to learn from a master of the art.
Wasn't going to ask for the guy's backstory or anything.
Hell it takes a whole team of chuunin to maintain Konoha's barrier (Well In Takeshi's universe atleast) , and if this was just one guy then goddamn his barrier jutsus must've been amazing.
You look around. Everyone is mostly keeping to themselves right now. You see Deikida over in her own little corner of the deck with no one around. Now may be a good a time as ever to try and talk with her. You make your way over and take a seat beside her.
"You've been pretty quiet." you start. "I can't imagine this was easy for you. You need someone to talk to? I'm always up to listen."
Deikida considers your offer for a bit before deciding to speak up.
"It's not what you think." she starts. "I wasn't really close to him. Kurotsuchi was probably friendlier with him than I was, and she's taking it just fine. I just... it could have been me. We were pretty alike, always messing around with explosives. But he had so much talent. He got picked up to be the Tsuchikage's pupil. I was jealous. I wanted what he had. Talent, passion, opportunity. It just got worse after the accident too, all the way up until he left. Then I was mad at him for throwing everything that I wanted away. I took that all out on him just now and... now I'm thinking, if it was me, would I get killed by my former comrades the same way? With no hesitation? Would no one really try and reach out to me, the same way? I can't help but think I should have done something different."
>A.Tell her that there's nothing she could have done
>B.Tell her that Kurotsuchi is probably taking it just as hard, and they should talk
>C.Tell her something else (Write-in)
There's a girl my age who joined because everyone looked past how bad she was being treated except for someone who joined the akatsuki. We have reached out to her, and I think your village would reach out to you. It... Matters how bad you get.
C, Deikida, over the short period, that i have come to know you. I know that you could never be deidara, as much talent as he may have had.
He missed one crucial thing and thats realising art is useless if there's nobody to admire it. He could've earned the respect from everybody in the village and made everybody happy and keep them safe by being a powerful shinobi. Instead he turned his back on you and all of his friends.
He didn't regard you all as comrades. So you can't put yourself in his shoes. You're way better than him and have true talent.
You're amazing deikida, you were also an amazing help and taught me how to use earth chakra<? Whatever may happen in the future, i'll protect my friends. And you're one of them.
Kinda this. To cheer her up. No use in going full logic. Just appealing to her emotion that she did the right thing and is better off now.
>C.Tell her something else (Write-in)
"I don't think you did anything wrong. Deidara had plenty of opportunities to choose a different path. But he never showed any hesitation, from what I know of him, everything he did was because this was what he genuinely wanted, and nothing would sway him. You were just picking up on that. If no one reached out to him, it's because he made it clear that there was no point in trying. And the fact that you're thinking things like this at all is guarantee that if you were in the same position people would make that effort. Someone who worries this much about whether they're doing the right thing isn't going to start blowing people up for fun, and anyone who knows you can see that."
Really think it's more important to point out WHY we didn't reach out to him but do reach out to others. She's not concerned about being The Same As Him she's concerned about us doing the wrong thing.
I think the trend seems to be the "Deidara chose this life, people could see that, that's why no one bothered to try reaching out to him" thing. Emphasize that it's no one's fault but his that he came to this fate, people will only try to save you if you give them reason to think you can be saved.
>C. "Maybe. But orders are orders. It's...never an easy thing, realizing you have to kill someone you've known since you were young. Even if you hardly ever spoke. Always wondering if there's some other way. But if we keep looking for these other ways...sometimes there's only one way to do things. Hesitating in the ninja world will get you killed." Be thinking of Hinata here, big time.
We should only transform into half a log.
Because generally the logs do get damaged in the attack.
So say someone slices us down in half, one half is Kon and the other half is an actual log.
...Filled with exploding tags.
We should really start planning Kon's ultimate technique, our earth grudge fear as it were. I'm a fan of a back to life a number of times thing, Kakuzu was our Akatski rival in a way, both gave a mask thing going too, let's keep drawing parallels
We really do need a trump card. Heavenly Lance has progressed to the point that it's just a standard move, now. We should make a fight-ender, the sort of move that when the character pulls it out you know shit is about to get really. Our own Rasenshuriken or Amaterasu Arrow, something on that level of dramatic impact.
Back, and writing
Oh I have
You guys actually have a designated powerup that you'll get partway into the final arc
Though there are still other potential powerups you could also get
I'm thinking an impact sphere variation of onikis technique, kinda we throw a small and dense sphere of chakra, which suddenly expands into a large sphere and after a moment everything within is imploded. Like those elf nades from the second Thor film. Space time that shit
I for one, think we should to learn actual taijitsu in combination with our impact chakra, get a new summoning contract, because do we really want to cause the death of konhamaru because he can't summon enma when he needs it. Because we already summoned him.
You take a while to try to think over an answer. Eventually you come to a conclusion.
"I don't think you did anything wrong." you start. "Deidara was the one that chose his own path. It wasn't his talent that made him do it, he just wanted to. And that's why no one reached out to him. He clearly did as he pleased, and had no remorse. If you were in his position, you never would have destroyed your village and killed people. The fact that you're concerned about this means that you're the kind of person that people would reach out to, but I know it would never come to that. You aren't Deidara. I don't mean his talent or skill, I mean that you would never betray the people who care about you like he did. He never gave anyone a reason to think he could be saved. That's what matters here. You did the right thing."
Deikida is silent for a while. She fiddles with her fake hand, and adjusts her eye patch.
"There's no real way of knowing, though." Deikida eventually says. "But I suppose as long as there is one person who believes in you, you can believe in yourself. I guess if Deidara was worth believing in, we still would have. So, thanks for believing in me, Kon."
For the rest of the ride, you and Deikida chat and joke around, lightening the mood considerably. You all eventually dock at the mainland and head for the Cloud. Now may very well be your chance to repair any damage done to relations with the Leaf. Saving the Raikage's brother, you feel like you're already off to a good start.
>End of Chapter 57
Sorry things were so choppy guys, did not expect all this stuff to happen this evening
Next thread won't be until Saturday, I'm leaving for three days to get poly
Twitter is @LazeQM
Realistically, quite likely less genetically harmful than your average leaf village/leaf village marriage, people overestimate the affects of incest and underestimate the effects of a inbreeding.
Also, you could try. In theory, it's just projecting Impact in a sphere out from a point, but you don't have the chakra to make the attack that huge
You guys should train with Guy and Lee some time, maybe you'll find out
Dust annihilates what it's used on, as opposed to just exerting force on it. You could come up with some attacks that act sort of like Onoki's but you couldn't replicate Dust's annihilation effect
I assume what you're talking about is messing with the frequency of the shockwaves. Get it high enough, you can literally break the bonds between molecules. By no means chakra efficient in the way Dust Release is with it, and we have to be touching the object in all likelyhood, but damn if it isn't effective.
Side note, if we expel chakra from chakra points on our shoulder blades, hands, and feet in a constant stream,
can we fly like Iron Man?
That's what Neji does. We don't have his control, though, so we probably can't do it efficiently enough to fly throughout an entire fight. Jet-boosted jumps might be possible, though.
I don't think you realize how much chakra that would use. If it was possible, Neji would do it, but he's limited to boost jumps. You could train with him to see if you could do it too, though
Scythes are shit m8, Hidan only used it to draw blood, it's not actually a good weapon
Actually, our control is easily on par with Neji's. Only sakura, having literally perfect chakra control, outdoes us in that regard.
Impact Chakra, being literal concussive force, might not need such a heavy chakra drain however. That's the point I'm getting at.
The drain has to do with the sustained use, though. You could use it for instantaneous bursts like Neji does and actually be more efficient, yes, but a constant stream would just murder your chakra. You're better off jumping like golden age superman
I'd like the scythe as a trophy more then a weapon.
Hell we could always trade it to Tenten for something useful too. It would do wonders for her shop if she had one of the Akatsuki's weapons on display.
What if we spend the energy trying to go down, or maneuver downwards.
It'd make for a mean punch, people's elbow, or guillotine kick if we augmented the pull of gravity with about five seconds sustained thrust.
That's fine with me.
If we ever did use it, should do it as a joke more then anything.
We should totally scare the shit out of our friends by pretending to be a Jashinite or something.
Hell we could be a fake Hidan and give Konohamaru a good scare.
>"Have you accepted Jashin as your personal lord and torturer?"
>"Excuse me, do you have a minute for Jashin?"
Really I just wanted to collect the headbands, man. We'd be up to what, three of Nagato's and Kakuzu's?
The whole bonus of chakrazords aside from their size is that the user doesn't have to take the time and energy to shape them, they just form themselves, so you skip the hard part. Creating a chakra construct from scratch would be like forming a rasengan into whatever obscure shape you want, then keeping it like that. Impact does give you a bit of a shortcut, but it still would take a shit ton of practice and you'd have to sustain its form with your chakra. Ultra high level stuff.
You can go see him whenever you have free time, nothing's stopping you
You could have gone to see him quite a while ago in fact, so I hope no one is expecting that to be like the big endgame powerup or something
Also holy shit I had to look that star village shit up since I totally blocked filler hell from my mind
I guess there is some similarity, but sustaining your chakra in solid shapes will always be somewhat difficult
Because I'm thinking Kon may be sick of being out numbered, im imagining a number of chakra constructs, mirroring Kakuzu in a way but using chakra stored in scrolls for power? Can have Spirit Monkey constructs as team mates, healing water monkey, tank earth, quick attack fire etc
Was thinking maybe if we I dunno used some puppets as a base or whatever menma did?
If the merging technique of those two old frogs are widely known to summons contracts, we can summon however many monkeys we need with complementary skills whenever we leave the village/the day before the fight to merge with us, become secret-weapon master/Monkuzu
There's theoretically no reason you couldn't do that, but the thing is that you have absolutely nothing remotely like that right now. You'd be creating an entirely new technique completely from the ground up, and that's quite an undertaking. There's a reason very few ninja create their own techniques and just learn ones that already exist. It's really hard.
If you guys get anyone else's eyes, that means you fucked up hard somewhere
>disintegrating things on touch
>making complex 3-Dimensional Shapes with barriers
>perfecting the superman jump
>perfecting the high-frequency weapon thing for use with a chakra metal kyoketsu-shoge cord OR a chakra-metal sword
>Phasing: Flash style (vibrating the self fast enough to go right through objects)
>TRAINING WITH GUY AND LEE TO SEE WHAT WE CAN DO
