So I just remembered this existed, it's some old Anti-D&D propaganda, looking back on it now the characters actually just really hardcore LARPers
They made a movie based on this you know
This is kind of why I hate /pol/ when they leverage christfag shit
Like being bigoted is one thing and they usually bother being funny while doing so, but when you get the nofunallowed christcuck /pol/fucks it's just all this Jack Chick shit all over again
Also the sequel, the other anti RPG movie, one of the actresses was the same I think, and there's a magical realm /ss/ scene of sorts it's great
I still find it hard to believe the satanic panic was a thing.
It never really to Britain. Most of the D&D groups over here seemed to be set up by the churches.
Not that we were without problems at the time.
Did this spread to any other nation?
>It never really to Britain.
Don't you remember every other fucking daily mail headline about rapist satanic cults and mawkish channel 5 documentaries in the 90's?
I think I've found the problem. I never met anyone who took either seriously.
Channel 5 did a documentary on a child who was replaced with a fish finger by aliens. And they didn't do it as a comedy.
Fuck, I found the best one:
I remember watching this as a kid with my deeply religions Irish Catholic grandmother. Crossing herself constantly when ever something devilish was mentioned.
WARNING: See Acts 19: 13-17
>Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.” Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.
>When this became known to the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, they were all seized with fear, and the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor.
I don't get it. Why is there a warning label?
Yea you buddy.
Bring it in.
Bring it in right here.
You and me?
We're going to be okay.
Do you have a moment to talk about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?
See what is sometimes funny to me is I come from a deeply religious Mormon family. And my father was the one who thought me playing DnD was a good idea. He's the one who found a group near us that I could join and would be excited for me with all my silly character ideas I had.
Same thing with pot. I just dont care. I have a Baptist friend who always tried to get me involved with his arguments a lot because he knew I served a mission. One time he was in a right tizzy because Pot was getting legalized and he saw it as the destruction of civilization. Didnt really appreciate it when I told him that if cigarettes and alcohol was legal was I didnt think pot really mattered.
Not to say there arent some cuckoo mormons. I remember some ANGST back when Pokemon first came out when I was in elementary school. Stupid people are everywhere.
I went to private catholic school up until high school. Not once did I ever encounter this kind of crap. I mean they banned Magic: the gathering, but it was because kids were trading in class and getting into fights over ante, they also ended up banning Pogs and Pokemon for the same reason. Star Wars CCG was ok though cause there was only like 5 kids who played.
>Pulling described D&D as "a fantasy role-playing game which uses demonology, witchcraft, voodoo, murder, rape, blasphemy, suicide, assassination, insanity, sex perversion, homosexuality, prostitution, satanic type rituals, gambling, barbarism, cannibalism, sadism, desecration, demon summoning, necromantics, divination and other teachings".
tldr, it turns out a lot of the panic was because a woman was distraught that her son killed himself, and wanted to blame it on the game for escapism.
What do you mean? Before that only like the priests could read, and everyone had to take their word for it, then people started being able to read shit on their own with the printing press and could discover all the really kinda stupid stuff and bad ideas within books.
Not even an opinion as dumb as the one you just posted can make me think so.
>I wasn't alive back then but surely the fact that imaginary people I don't like had no say must mean everyone was better off
I am however of the opinion that you should kill yourself. Failing that, educate yourself.
Yes, but god damn it, YOU and people like you are why people ate mormons.
You all seem so damn normal and nice and tolerant. Preacching your "it's what we believe in, but we don't want to force ourselves on others" crap.
Stop being so nice and normal!
>There are people who believed this shit who are still alive and voting
> I played a game called 'Mazes and Monsters' a little too much...
> You are kidding!
> What level?
> So am I! Isn't it fun to create your own scenarios?
You can feel the amount of talent required by the actors to not laugh their asses off that that dialog.
My uber Catholic mother allowed RPGs but I wasn't allowed to have D&D or ouji boards. I guess those two products were being made out in the desert by Satan and robed cultist but Traveller and Runequest were A ok. When I did get caught with my D&D books she ratted me out to the Parish priest. He asked me if I thought the game was real and asked if it was effecting my school work. It wasn't and he got mom off my back. Thanks Padre!
Iirc Jack Chic writes this stuff but the actual artist who is way better than Chic went uncredited for a long time. His art is really great. The Soddom and Gomorah guys are all bdsm gays and lecherous creepers.
In what ending does she use her sweet fucking magic powers to become an unstoppable criminal mastermind that runs a criminal organization that's like a shadowy cult and a group of die hard priests have to become modern day paladins a-la Constantine to stop them?
Lets not forget that he believed that Jesuit secret agents had infiltrated every major world government except the good old US of A God bless America, Catholics founded communism, Catholics founded Islam, Catholics worshiped Mary and Satan and a pantheon of God-Saints among other things.
He also seemed to believe that he drew his own comic at one point and claimed it hard. Until it came to irrefutable light that he did not.
What was his beef with the Catholic Church?
I'm not from the US.
Why do you people dislike the Irish?
They have redheads.
All large immigrant groups are demonized at some point, till the next group rolls in. Not much different then picking on the new kid at school. Many of the criticisms leveled against the Irish are common tropes. Lazy, lots of kids, drunkards, stupid a forgien religion, not loyal, beholden to forgien interests, etc
That's basically the ending my OD got in an Ad Eva game.
Except like, left would have been the mother of all of them and not middle-right, since curse of the eva is a hell of a drug
Luckily The News lets me know what horrible ways my kids are getting corrupted this week.
But they're so generous and nice.
So very nice.
If nice was a resource Ireland would be an exporter.
Even their aggression is nice. When the USA gets in a fighting mood they shit all over the world. When Ireland gets angry they keep it in Ireland or, at worst, it overflows into England although that hasn't happened properly since they bombed Manchester. They even phoned up ahead of time to warn us the overly polite cunts.
It's a weird aggressive almost weaponized niceness. Just look at their music or their language as a whole. You hear Gaelic and you are pretty sure you aren't getting out of the pub with all your teeth. But they do that amongst themselves. And they will usually help you find your teeth and prop you back on your bar stool afterwards.
Family of kid who killed himself
"They had never heard of dungeons and dragons up until that point, then they started going through his things."
Maybe their having taken no interest in his life might have had a little to do with it?
Ya but didn't the french go live in the north where none of the natives cared they were freezing their asses off?
I'm going to assume that shortly after the "White Folk" started expanding rapidly the natives started to hate them quiet a bit
>an attempted historical account of events endorses those events
there are actually better examples of the bible promoting rape you can use, but none for incest because literally no culture promotes incest.
>because literally no culture promotes incest.
Whilst it is mostly true because a culture that promotes destroying itself at a genetic level isn't going to survive its rivals I have to also point out Ancient Egypt.
Well I can't really ask any how they felt about it but I think they probably had their share wall building advocates. Like any other group that perceives a threat to their way of living.
