How do you find the post-OGW post-bans metagame?
Personally having a blast with Kiki-Chord and Jeskai Flash.
>also playing kiki chord and jeskai flash
ARE WE MEMEING?
1 and 2 can be accomplished in your opponent's turn. You're able to respond to the counterbalance trigger with brainstorm, giving you the knowledge of whether to reveal or not.
Digging for fetchlands/top is sort of an okay response, but I'd value the information gain from casting brainstorm later more.
1 can't be accomplished in your opponent's turn because that means you can't miracle until your next turn. 2 can't be accomplished in your opponent's turn because you can't play fetchlands or Tops in your opponent's turn.
I think it's fancytalk for jeskai midrange with aven mindsensors, vendillions, restoangels, snappys, basically everything with flash.
Bolt, helix, electrolyze, path, counterspells, maybe oujtais command
Oops, meant 1 and 3.
If you're trying to miracle in your opponent's turn, that means you have some other form of card draw. If it's a top, I'd still save brainstorm for the opponent's turn.
But if all you've got in your hand is a brainstorm, you should cast it on your opponent's turn.
Now that twin is nerfed do you guys think they could print an op counter?
Imagine pic related but somehow for delver. maybe a UUW counter for control? Pls buff blue maro
Nah. I've been playing Kiki-Chord since Pia and Kiran Nalaar and it's tons of fun. I'm happy people are finally seeing how great the deck is and how awesome Restoration Angel is in the meta. Lets us find the best list possible.
Jeskai Flash is us being memes, however. Love both of these decks.
Build UR Surge/ Juri En/ Card Draw/ Chasm Skulker, which is what I'm doing. I didn't even think to use that dude, thanks!
Or keep that little guy. I think he could be worth a little bit of money in foil here in a year or two.
2 mana counter wouldn't be enough to make control viable. You cannot close out games fast enough for them to just go off a second time and kill you.
We would need sometimes like Baleful Strix and Flusterstorm printed for modern to even make it a consideration.
>You cannot close out games fast enough for them to just go off a second time and kill you.
What deck are you referring to here? Control in Modern plays fine against storm/bloom/goryo's style all-in combo decks. Ad Nauseam is tough because of instant speed and Pacts. Otherwise you mostly lose to Tron and Bogles and stuff. Linear decks that are hard to interact with but aren't really combos.
it was the first modern deck i ever built.
here's my list.
Is there no Standard general? Has it dissapeared up its own asshole?
Someone redpill me on wastes: What cards make them worth running over other lands? Other than running walker of the wastes
You answered your own question. It's better to add a fucking throper foundry unless you have tech with wastes. They're for draft (or a walker of the wasteland deck which might be cool)
But people already do Kikichord. I'm just thinking about a kikicocochord deck, maybe in temur colors (skip the restos) with most of the classic temur twin cards, and 4 chord 4 coco to get the combo pieces out
i'm back motherfuckers
can't ban dredgeposting shitter mods
here you go buds
>Getting upset about other people's basic lands
Am I the only one that doesn't understand this?
Your deck is an extension of you.
I like mine to look aesthetic and neat. Having matching sets, art and good condition is important to me.
It irks me when cards are just crammed into a deck, especially with something as simple as basics
I use matching artwork and sets, but only because if you don't you can give away information with if your opponent uses things like IoK, probe, etc. It doesn't really matter which art or set, it's just whichever I happen to have. They all function the same.
I'm now seriously considering whether or not the miniscule advantage gained by my current method is worth not being able to fuck with people like you.
I use mostly Urza's and Invasion basics, all matching each other, because of nostalgia for old sets. I run a one-of Akroma, Angel of Fury in Kiki Flash for the same reason: nostalgia for Time Spiral block and the old pre-mending characters.
I couldn't care less about "giving away information".
KEK@people getting butthurt over basic lands
time to switch up all my basics to mess with these pathetic autistic dorks
don't let something so insignificant bother you lmao
You really wanna fuck with people? And I mean HARD?
White borders, pic related every time
Well, mechanically, you're better off having all copies of a card be the same artistically
It's so small a consideration that it's really just nitpicking, but you can provide information you otherwise wouldn't if you have different versions of the same card.
I've been considering doing that, and having as much of my deck white-bordered as I can.
As I said, I am aware that it's an incredibly tiny advantage, and 99% of players don't have the attention to detail to notice different artworks or sets.
what is the obsession with disliking white bordered cards? people play with future sight bordered cards no problem but the white borders seem to trigger some angry response among the majority of the 'magic community'. can someone explain?
understand how dredge works
put the cards in your yard
don't miss triggers like a goofball
play 2 creatures in 1 turn
here come the vengevines
your opponent is dead
if your are playing my list:
fetch a white source early
cast unburial rights
win the game
(not recommended vs. decks that can exile)
play lotleth troll
make him a big guy 4 u
He started talking on stream about how Hitler thought what he was doing was right, and how morality could be relative.
Naturally, his words were taken out of context, and everyone thought TWoo was hading out a giant endorsement of hitler's policy.
On the surface, he got fired for saying offensive things. Really, he got fired for being retarded.
4 Galerider Sliver
4 Sinew Sliver
4 Diffusion Sliver
3 Frenetic Sliver
Look like a decent core for a countersliver build? Diffusion can be backed up well enough by things like Mana Leak and even Spell Pierce, and Frenetic Sliver is a backup against shit like Abrupt Decay or decks that like to cast 1cmc spells anyway.
Funny thing is he didnt say that, he said that the German people thought he was right which helped his ascent to power, but people are retarded and started spreading shit because >muh antisemitism and basically people who never watched what happened think it is a nazi or something.
tldr; talk about jews, you lose.
Say you have a forest with art A.
the opponent casts duress, and sees you have forest A.
You then draw forest B and play forest B instead of forest A.
The opponent knows you drew forest B.
It is. But its not intended facism like traditional facism
Its unintentional facism perpetuated by retards that have been brainwashed by liberals to hate what they've been told to hate and to never, EVER hurt anyones feelings.
So the second someone even says the word "hitler" people start twitching uncomfortably and assuming anti-semmitism
oy vey certain thoughts taint your mind and addict you to evil like thought cocaine, even thinking such things as this antisemite bastard was saying is evil and warrants immediate punishment. or do you WANT a second holocaust?
He now makes videos about how not to be sheeple and stop growing your hair.
Its pretty depressing if you see his videos from years ago
Its a retarded thing to say considering how people will react to it
Not a retarded thing to think. I dont know if its true or not, but Im certainly not blind to the possibility.
Approach everything with both skepticism and an open mind
So when a spell that deals damage resolves, is the resolution a sequence, or is the complete action simultaneous? As in does it deal damage and then go to the graveyard, or do both simultaneously?
I.E. Pyro on the stack over a 0/1 Goyf, crack a fetch in response, does the Goyf live as a 2/3-2 with Pyro and the fetch in the yards, or does it die before Pyro hits the yard?
I think that was ultimately the point of his tirade and all the retards watching him heard was "HEIL HITLER GAS THE JEWS DEATH TO AMERICA" because 98% of the general population are fucking idiots.
pyro is not a magic card
if it does 2 damage it will go like this
you cracked the fetch in response to that burn spell. that ability resolves, the fetch goes in to the yard and you search for a land
goyf is now a 1/2
now the spell resolves, deals 2 damage and goes to the yard, but goyf grows to a 2/3 and survivies
Oh christ, shut up. CFB is a business, they're a private organisation, they have the right to protect their bottom line. Everyone who works for them knows they're there to make money for the channel, if CFB thinks some controversial statements are going to cost them viewers, they should kick the idiot who made those statements. There's no bullshit /pol/-tier "muh liberals" shit going on, it's pure business.
Jund used to be very very dominant. Deathrite was a hugely versatile card that made the deck too consistent and flexible, and it was already very consistent and flexible. Jund was dominating the meta, so they got rid of DRS.
Yes, fetchlands in particular made it great. It even sees legacy play. Arguably the best 1-mana creature ever printed. It fixes your mana, hoses graveyard strategies, grinds out games with lifegain, and is even a win con with life loss.
because it's a one mana splashable 1/2 "any color" manadork (in black mind you) that can lavamancer every player's face or gain you some life, while also acting as a relic of progenitus
He did not make any controversial statements, people who lack reading comprehension misinterpreted what he said and created an outrage over something he never said. No one is saying anything about what cfb did because their hand was forced.
>He did not make any controversial statements
It doesn't matter, they were interpreted as controversial statements. CFB were well within their rights, even if it was a stupid thing for stupid people to get buttmad over. Saying "sounds like fascism - who's the REAL hitler here, huh?!?!?!?!" is just dumb.
>CFB is a business
They are shills, these are the faggots that deleted an article PVR wrote detailing why Battle for ZEN was such a shitty set.
Nothing to do with TWoo getting fired, I honestly have no idea why he was on their staff since he was really shitty at the game and offended a lot of people long before the hitler thing. But CFB has always been massive faggots.
Wizards is extremely trigger-happy with bans in Modern. Just about everyone's lost money to them at this point, and they're starting to make Modern players really pissed off.
And then there are cards like Ancestral Vision and Stoneforge Mystic which were preemptively banned for being "too good" despite being far more "fair" cards than urzatron. It's sad that those cards have never once seen the light of day in modern.
>deleted an article PVR wrote detailing why Battle for ZEN was such a shitty set.
They didn't. They just tried to hide it because it's not's exactly a genius business strategy to flaunt around with an article detailing why the product you're trying to sell is bad.
Hey man his stolen brews were the only time he ever played magic
>Open his stream
>magic is closed and hes talking about how poor people didn't try enough at life or how depression isn;t real or some shit
Why are WotC and big MTG groups so obsessed with political correctness? This is insane, probably as bad as video game journalism.
Has the social justice cult latched on to Magic the Gathering because it's more centrally controlled by its manufacturer than other tabletop games? I can't see every Magic player out there approving of what's happening here.
>mtg is overwhelmingly a game males play
>wotc wants to appeal to women more = bigger market = more money
>be more inclusive
>white knights, betas and orbiters adopt it so they get to spend more time with females
Oh my god just shut the fuck up you retard
The fascism alluded to is blindingly obviously that of the mob mentality, not CFB
How have you lived this long with so little reading comprehension, or the ability to breathe and walk at the same time?
Why is an inbred like you even posting? Did your father just leave instead of beating the shit out of your retarded ass, or is he an even bigger mongoloid?
I want to put this onto an Eidolon of the Great Revel
I think it would be a good thing if they could drive the price of the format down. I don't want to play collector, if I did I'd play vintage or legacy. But you can't justify a hundred plus dollar prices in a format that's supposed to be in flux. Mythic rarity is the biggest culprit and the worst thing ever done to the game. I hardly ever play paper magic anymore and wouldn't recommend it either, unless you want to play commander, where bans are few and cards are singleton. As someone who'd love to feel safe putting money into modern, let's see fetches for 5 dollars. Until then, no thanks.
Hey all, I've played a lot of casual with my groups and have been delving into modern this last year. Critique this deck for me guys, I love playing this, but it's maybe 2 turns too slow for my liking, and Topor Orb shuts me down like nothing else.
I have no clue what to sideboard in, or how to structure it period.
Thoughts, suggestions, and fixes are much appreciated!
>The fascism alluded to is blindingly obviously that of the mob mentality
Then that's even stupider. The mob has no literal power other than whingeing and stamping its feet, the only power is what we or companies like CFB choose to give them. They howl about stupid shit, and various people and institutions choose to kowtow or not, based on our own interests and political leanings. It's 100% the opposite of fascism.
>Did your father just leave instead of beating the shit out of your retarded ass, or is he an even bigger mongoloid?
lol what? Is this meant to be some tremendous keyboard warrior tough-guy epic insults that'll leave me chastened and traumatized? This isn't x-box live, calling someone a faggot over the internet makes you the idiot, not me. Pretty cringe-worthy stuff, anon.
If you are running Gifts Ungiven, how about running 1x Unburial Rites(splash black on one land in case you drew it) and 1x Elesh Norn?
Also, your deck needs removal, or at least counterspells to keep enemy removal off your back.
>Everything that isn't Tron
I don't know why people keep saying this, it's the opposite. Without twin, Jund and abzan are going to be less represented. Tron beats up on jund and abzan. Affinity, burn and infect will remain in the format and they beat up on tron. Tron's losing one of its best matchups and all of its worst ones are hanging around, being even better.
Woo might be worse than TG at magic
>Should I pick up some restoration angels now while they're "low"?
yeah, why not. Baller card, will always have potential to be a thing as an ETB shenanigans enabler. High chance of them being useful in the future.
>Do they have the potential to spike after the protour?
Maybe, kik-chord might be a thing.
He's got a point though affinity loves going for the infect kill, this works on etched champion+cranial, without plating you're swinging for 2-5 damage or 1-3 poison. If you convert a damage swing to a poison swing it makes that plan much better.
Except I don't care.
you're still taking 2 off your own Eidolon, and its all a wash. It's a cute interaction, but when we're both taking damage and Eidolon still eats a bolt/Searing Blaze, you're down two cards to my one.
>Greek themed setting
>significant majority of cards featuring black men and women
Put two and two together. It's not that hard if you know even the first thing about ancient Greece. Give me a response without trying to belittle me or trivialize the concept of fantasy please.
Normally in OOS decks like it you'd want to run both. In Modern, I think that Balustrade would be slightly better because Undercity Informer gets fucked by Linvala iirc
snapcaster grants a card flashback with a flashbackcost equal to it's mana cost. the mana cost does not exist, so you cannot pay it. cascade allows you to cast a spell without paying it's mana cost, which is fine. the mana cost that does not exist is calculated as 0 for the purpose of the cascade mechanic.
what are the better deck boxes these days? i never liked those cheap ultra pro ones and my favorites were these odyssey themed ones that came with shitty sleeves but i have no idea where i put them
the ultra pro magnetic flip boxes are actually very nice
they're also awkwardly big, for me at least. I like the legion plastic velcro latch boxes, they're not top notch but they hold your cards together and fit nicely into other containers
Oh ok. I figured that if cascade considered its converted mana cost 0, then flashbook would do the same. Oh well.
not that anon, but I personally didn't like them. They're too fat and bulky and I have small hands which makes gripping it/holding it annoying.
I liked magnetic boxes, but these Satin Towers are my new favorite.
Is it though?
>There's a star of david
There's a star on the back of mtg cards...
>Jew and Judaism start with "J"
So does Jace...
>Jews control the banks
"Jews" control the banks of Ravnica
>The Jews bought Jesus with 30 silver pieces
Karn is made of....you guessed it, Silver.
I can keep going. The fact is there's too much evidence to just say "nuh-uh" and pretend it isn't true. Wake up sheeple
I use either a Legion Iconic deck box or one of these to hold my modern deck + sideboard.
Not too big of a fan of deckboxes that cost more than $10, but the Satin Tower is probably the most durable box that you can get for its price.
It's gotten to the point where I just use Fatpack boxes, they hold 3 EDH decks and four 60 card decks + sideboards with ease.
I got one for every color back in 2010 and all of them have fallen apart on me (the glue splitting between the two layers of covered cardboard), and this is while storing them in a foam lined carrying case.
The only saving grace that UltraPro has is that it's cheap.
Other than that it's the shittiest everything. No consistency in sleeve sizing, sleeves fall apart, non-sleeve product breaks, the list is long. I find it funny that they have the Wizards contract on merchandise with official art, because that just speaks to how much Wizards doesn't give a fuck about any details including the quality of the peripherals.
I've never owned one myself but I've seen it where the dice compartment just fucks up and falls out and the Ultra Pro silver logo thing just fall off.
The only thing I like about UltraPro are the cheap $2.00 deckboxes. They're cheap and they're the only thing that haven't broken on me (yet). And if they broke, I wouldn't be terribly angry because it cost me nothing.
I wouldn't give a shit about their sleeves breaking either because they're so inexpensive. However, one batch is never the same size as the other batch so you can't even buy the same damn sleeves a year from when you bought the previous ones because they're always miscut. You buy a 100 pack and one set of 50 are miscut from the other 50.
I'm an Engineer, companies fucking solved sizing issues decades ago.
eh, i've always thought the ultra pro mattes were a good product
i tried dragon shields and they actually became dirty, sticky pieces of shit even when i only play on a mat and intentionally tried to keep them clean
What are some good hard counters in modern. Im running shared fate and i cant use bounce spells. Is dissolve the best hard counter outside of mana leak or negate or spell snare or spell pierce?
Pic related is the only viable hard counter in modern.
Logic Knot is damn close to being a hard counter though.
Deprive has a major drawback. You want to cast it on turn 2, but that's when its at its worst. Conditional counters are better in the early game, but hard counters are necessary in the late game.
Basically, you need both in your deck and to draw the right half of your deck at the right time. Welcome to the reason why control sucks in modern
I'm a huge fan of Dex Protection boxes. The first wave one's magnets are kinda weak but not that bad, newer ones are top tier tho.
Because it's different from tapping creatures until your opponent runs out of life, or playing two cards together and going to the next game. Variety is good, anon. Having multiple playstyles be viable is good.
Control isn't better, but it's needed for a healthy game.
I hate playing against control in other games. "bounce that to your library" or "countered that spell" isn't fun, but other decks need it as a check to their own power.
I don't think either should dominate the game, but both need to exist, or else the game turns into a rushdown
Because the control lists lack the draw engines and countermagic to deal with unfair decks. As well as the answers are to weak too deal with fair decks threats.
There really isn't anything they could unban to fix this either, ponder/preordain would help with consistency but not the lack of power.
Look at the current metagame. All combo decks that can largely ignore the other player, or aggro decks that are looking to win before those decks. Combo decks only need to worry about being fast and consistent, not resilient. Its not healthy for the format
tfw Clique'ing my opponents dredge Life from the Loam on drawstep
Logic Knot is fine against eldrazi as long as they don't manage to t1 relic. And yea i get that's a fairly likely, but they have to /really/ be knowing what they're doing for a couple logice knots not to be ok in your deck.
Wizards has the exclusivity contract with Ultra Pro BECAUSE it's products are disposable.
They don't want you buying one pack of Jace sleeves, they want you buying one pack of Jace sleeves every draft.
You could say the same thing about Tarmogoyf, Snapcaster Mage, or Tasigur. If one or two decks run maindeck hosers for otherwise powerful cards it doesn't invalidate those cards. It just means you might side them out or have a tougher matchup.
>You could say the same thing about Tarmogoyf, Snapcaster Mage, or Tasigur
>You could say the same thing about cards that are now practically hated out of the format by the above decks.
Ancestral Visions is legitimately hilariously bad again Eldrazi. It both fuels their deck and while they take it out of suspend and it just feels horrible.
Tiago is basically nowhere to be found with Twin gone, Goyf and Tasigur also are featured mainly in fair decks which got much worse if the unfair strategies are as rampant as people are predicting.
Angler/Tasigur and Tiago being incredibly dogshit against Eldrazi which is a super popular deck all of a sudden is one of the main reasons why Sam Black said Grixis Control is completely unplayable now
the other reason being of course its best matchup getting banned
In the time between casting Ancestral VisioN and it actually going off, aggro and hyper aggro have killed you twice over, and big mana decks are so far ahead theres literally no blue or white cards in the format that will catch you up.
Its okay to good, maindeck spreading seas is strong against both and vial lets you put our a clock fast enough to try and race their strategy.
The issue I think would be with Infect and Affinity. You aren't faster than them and Merfolk really does not have the interaction needed to stop both decks oneshot infect kill outside of Cursecater for Infect. Vapor Snags are the only thing they run right? Do they run dismember?
Thats all spitballing since I have never tested nor tested against Merfolk though.
I've had this for a few months now, but I'm in the process of selling all the modern cards I have that don't go into
Esper Controlso I can build Death and Taxes or ANT.
I've been tempted to Scepter-Chant for a while now. Add in Hokori, Otherworldly Journey, Ghostly Prison or the like to force your opponent to tap, and Boros Charm to protect the Scepter and get some reach and you've got something fun. Maybe a red Akroma or two to blink off spare Journeys?
I also like the idea of a Floodbringer or two to bounce lands. I mean, since it's jank anyway.
The main plan of the deck is to set up Scrack + Land Tax and "draw" a shit load of cards. Swords, Orim's Chant, Wrath, and the Enlightened Tutor package are there so you can get to that point. The win-cons could be anything, but I chose RIP/Helm and Belcher because they kill quickly, are tutorable, and aren't dead on their own.
>have scrubby norin/soul sisters/impact tremors list for modern
>literally only good in big games where my norin triggers impact tremors per player's turn
>wanted to try a new deck but all the card prices for the interesting ones skyrocketed post oath/twinban
is there any hope for me
>only two RIP
If I need RIP, I'm gonna get RIP. Not to mention I can do it G1. With Mox Diamond I can cast RIP T1 or Chant + RIP on T2.
The worst match-ups are T1 combos like Belcher and Oops, but that goes for every non-blue Legacy deck.
It's not some secret T1 brew, but it does have the tools to go up against most of the other decks in Legacy. The hardest thing is actually piloting it correctly, with so much tutoring and deck manipulation the decision trees are enormous.
you get a lot of good sideboard options right now since green has tons of strong hate cards. I'm still working on a sideboard right now, I just proxied up this deck and im gonna playtest it a bit tomorrow. I'd imagine some land hate like beast within or acidic slime would be good too. You could even be a real cheeselord and play plow under.
I settled on the stompy version. Here's my list:
4 wild nacatl
4 experiment one
3 scavenging ooze
4 avatar of the resolute
4 strangleroot geist
3 leatherback baloth
4 eternal witness
1 reclamation sage
2 dungrove elder
4 vines of vastwood
4 collected company
2 aspect of hydra
4 wooded foothills
4 windswept heath
2 stomping ground
1 temple garden
2 - 2.5. You'll win more games on surprise factor and your opponent not being prepared for it/understanding it/not having any sideboard hate for it than from it being an actually good deck
So how bad an idea on a scale of "shit" to "do you even understand Modern" is Zur's Weirding? Slot it into a UW control shell perhaps, with Finks and other sources of life? Maybe even a recursive setup with Floodbringer and Kabira Crossroads?
Can I ask a question, I'm pretty bad, and still learning. I was playing at a friends the other night, and he swung at me for some damage, I chose not to block and just take the damage. At this time, he said, "Oh, well I'll just hit your Gideon instead then." Was this legal? Can he switch his attack after he said he was going to swing at me? Not my Planeswalker?
Thank you for reading and replying, I appreciate the help and information.
Primalcrux comes into play and does nothing. Primetime gets you immediate value and if you ever untap he'll probably generate as much if not more mana by fetching another nykthos. Hell, if you have enough devotion primetime can probably generate more on the turn he comes in.
Unless no one shows up to the GP and the next MM sells dogshit because players boycotting modern there's zero chance.
And we all know thats impossible since people are lazy morons.
It sounds good on paper, but then you realize your opponent could spend his life to keep you off your answers just as much as you can spend life to keep him off of threats. But he's the beatdown... so he probably has more life than you.
You can test it out in an UB or Esper shell with lifegain and discard. Try and get your opponent into topdeck mode and then prevent him from ever drawing anything relevant. It seems like a tempo card to me though. Maybe try Esper "delver" with 3-4 Tasigur for beats and non-weirded card advantage?
Thanks! I did read the rules and the compendium on the wiki, but he insisted that he was correct having played for X years.
Just happy there is some anons out there willing to answer some questions.
I just built mono-white D&T and I couldn't believe that price tag as well. No way am I spending $70 on Horizon Canopy either, fuck that.
Anyway with all 8 colorless sources in the deck I'm thinking of trying Matter Reshaper in D&T, seems good. Maybe even Warping Wail in the board.
After 5 hard minutes of brewing I present to you the most expensive jank deck in Modern.
4 Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
3 Tasigur, the Golden Fang
Instants and Sorceries: 18
4 Thought Scour
3 Inquisition of Kozilek
4 Abrupt Decay
2 Maelstrom Pulse
2 Murderous Cut
Other Spells: 7
4 Liliana of the Veil
3 Zur's Weirding
3 Creeping Tar Pit
4 Polluted Delta
3 Verdant Catacombs
1 Misty Rainforest
2 Watery Grave
1 Overgrown Tomb
1 Breeding Pool
2 Ghost Quarter
Yep. The plan is to destroy the opponent's hand with Lili/Inquisition/Thoughtseize and land a beater so when the Weirding comes down you can "race" their topdecks. Jace and Tasigur provide a way to generate CA even under the effect of the Weirding.
It might be pretty good against Tron, but with only 8 removal spells and no lifegain or sweepers you're gonna get shit on by burn and affinity. I guess that's what the sideboard is for.
Atleast Twin's not around to remand your CMC 4 enchantment anymore though.
Mystical Teachings and Gifts Ungiven don't draw, so I briefly considered them while I was making all of the other questionable decisions. Teachings even comes with native Flashback.
The downside is they're fairly slow.
Woops, just realized when I was shuffling around cards for that deck that there are 11 creatures, not 13, so it's a 58 card deck. I would add two Disfigures for cheap removal, but going to 24 lands by adding another Tar Pit and Ghost Quarter could be better.
Aside from the obvious answer of the various eldrazi cards, crush of tentacles seems nice in a grixis/temur delver deck
Probably, but it's hard to say. Traditionally combo decks are beaten by control decks, and it remains to be seen if twin's banning makes control decks any more viable.
Playing Teachings and Weirding in the same deck is REALLY slow, but the synergy is definitely there. I don't think Weirding is viable in a control shell without a lot of incidental lifegain to break the card's symmetry and Modern really doesn't have that. That's why I went with the midrange shell.
they're both shit. run spells, not creatures, if you want to mill. Hedron crab being the only exception. Sphinx tutelage, archive trap, maybe altar of the brood, counterspells and boardwipes. Check out psychic strike if you're in blue black.
It's a legal move with burn spells and abilities, however.
>I lightning bolt you
>As lightnint bolt resolves, I redirect the damage to your planeswalker
is the correct procedure for targeted spells and abilities. Your friend probably assumed it would be the correct procedure for combat as well, which it isn't.
