Anyway, now you're here. There's yellow fluff on one side, green fluff on the other. That's usually how you wake up.

Something is different about this time. Among colored fluff on both sides, there is also some brown-fluff as well.

And an.. extra voice that you can hear breathing?

Gently, you sit up. Beside you is a number of unexpected guests who you can't remember being invited last night.

One of which is the black-haired little girl which you vaguely remember from yesterday. Not sure where Cody picked her up, but Catland being Catland you can guess it's going to result in you pounding some faces in later.
Another being Annetta, Yuuki's princess. Oh, and speaking of Yuuki's princess; there's Yuuki at the far end.

Yuuki's eyes are open, she's clutching that spear-like thing of hers. You're not sure she's slept all night.

"Yer shift's over." You whisper at her.
"Ergh." Is all she emits in response.

"What ye doin' here?"
"Anna and I agreed that the castle wasn't a safe place to stay. So we came over here at midnight."
"Why'ye say that?"

"There was an.. I'll explain later." Yuuki shifts in her flowery dress. It's almost like she's being held to the floor. "I've been on guard for hours and would really like to sleep."

"Aye, go do it. Don't need my permission."
"I'd love to but-" Yuuki hesitates. "I can't get up."

You try to get up, and you can't either.

There seems to be a large mass of.. snake.. binding everyone together like a big rope. She tugs and pulls into what you can only describe as a group hug.

At the other end, with a silly smile on her face, is Madeleine. Her long body successfully covering everyone like a blanket.

A part of you just wants to lean back and go to sleep.

But Yuuki sleeping here with Annetta is disturbing. You can see Yuuki sneaking up here at night if Anna was in her hair, but to bring Anna and to have Anna follow her? That's a new level of weird that you're not quite ready to accept just yet.

Gently, you reach to your right and grab Atsuko's tail.

As to not disturb her; you drag it the puff of yellow toward the mass of snake. Gently, you rub it back and forth along the column of scales.
The end of her tail, which is currently ensnaring Yuuki, starts to shake and vibrate. It twitches and jumps as Madeleine's entire body seems to relax.

You think you could probably pull yourself free at this point. It's loosened enough of its grip.
"(J-Jack.)"

You turn your head to notice that, what length has lessened over your own body has grown over Yuuki's.

A sigh escapes your lips, and you resign yourself to your fate.

"So, Yuuki. Want to explain what happened? We might be 'ere a lil while."

She grumbles, and then pushes enough of Madeleine off of her to sit upright.

"Well, I won't give details because I'm worried what you'll do." She rubs the back of her head. "Last night, Biscotti had a break-in."
You sit rigid.

"A break-in?" You repeat, only conjuring images of circling sharks. "They capture the scum?"
"W-well." Yuuki clearly becomes uncomfortable at your sudden shift of facial expression. "A couple. It was-"
"There was more than ONE? What'd they want?"

Yuuki seems to be on the defensive. "I thought they were after this girl, but-"

"-but last night they tried to kidnap Louise."

Then you start to frown.

It's just the two of you, staring at one another, frowning.

Except it's overcome by the overwhelming sense of rage.

"She's safe.. but Pomelo had to rescue her." She continues to frown.

"I'LL KILL 'EM!" You stand to attention and shout. There's a jump next to you as blonde fuzz stands on end. "BUT BEFORE I KILL 'EM I'M GONNA GRIND THEIR ENTRAILS ACROSS THE DECK AND GRIND ALL THEIR TEETH INTO POWDER AFTER LIGHTIN' THEIR TESTES ON FI-"

"EEEK, Jack!? What the hell!?" Atsuko squeezes her pillow with a shriek.

Atsuko slowly turns her gaze up toward you, and you look down at her.

"HOW DOES THIS SOLVE MY SEETHING RAGE!?" You yell into her ear.

Strangely enough, Anna doesn't seem to wake up to any of this. Madeleine is slowly gathering herself.

"L-Listen, Charlotte and Louise are perfectly safe now. We were just attacked by ninjas last night."
"NINJAS?! Where!? In Biscotti?"
"Hold up, whars a 'Ninja' and how do I get my hands on it to rip it to shreds!?"

"Yuuki, dear." Madeleine interrupts, she's adjusting her top and stretching her arms. "Care to explain what these 'Ninjas' looked like?"

Yuuki seems confused by the question.
"They wore all black, lots of belts, tons of throwing knives, and-
"Gallete's Secret Service." Madeleine says, without a single pause.

Yuuki has a look of both disgust, hate, and utter shock on her face.
"Gallete- Madeleine! You're saying Gallete was trying to kidnap their own hero!?"

"Dunno way to say, hun." Madeleine leans back. "That just sounds exactly what you described."

Yuuki's face goes blank, for a second you almost see the color drain out.

"I'm going to stomp Catland flat." She says, plainly and with certainty. "Don't try to stop me."

So far they have shown Jack, Cody and Yuki that they are not very good people. Jack tries to do the best for their hero and everyone tries to stop him to stop him. We find small girls locked in dungeons with no real explanation why. For some reason a group of individuals now believed to be Catland Spec-ops attempted to kidnap several heros. NOT JUST Louise they were also after Dorje, Kayda and Yuuki. (we rolled for this last thread Louise didn't pass DC)
A lot of my votes against cat land are based of of what the characters would think about it from the actions they have observed.

There's a tiny, almost commanding voice that slowly edges itself from groggy to fully alert.
Anna picks herself up, and stretches her tiny arms. Her bunny-ears twitch slightly at the feeling of the cool air.

There's one thing you can't argue. When Annetta wants to be mature, she's the most mature person in the room. It's no wonder she's a princess. She argues with grace and civility in ways you didn't think a kid her age could manage.

She has cunning, too! That's princess material!

"Well." Her tail lightly brushes the dirt. "When I ran the potion shop in Gallete, they were always asking for 'secret' blends. They're supposed to make those themselves because their existence is a secret and all, but they came to my shop anyway."

"Gallete's castle, barring that, no."

You can't say you'd disagree. You want Catland to be your ally, you really do. Charlotte and Louise, as well as their knights. They all seem like decent people albeit a little crazy.

"Well, I was thinking, it makes sense if you kidnap Charlotte. If someone can make her agree to take the throne, then all of Gallete's problems are now her fault and her problem. Like for instance, dragons." She pulls at her hair. "Kidnapping Louise makes a lot of sense. I'm sure Charlotte would do anything for her. It makes me wonder if she wasn't given the hero scroll specifically because someone felt she needed a bodyguard. Funny how things work out."

"My guess? Charlotte's surrogate." Madeleine peers inside the shrine. "The King hasn't been back to Gallete in years. I'm curious who this 'Dad' person she keeps speaking of might be."

The words seem to ebb and flow in your mind. It's like pieces of a puzzle coming together.

Gallete not being very organized comes as little surprise to you. You're surprised they're holding together as a kingdom at all if that's the thing going on.
It seems callous to try and manipulate a young girl that way. At the same time, that seems very Catland of them.

"Let's wait until we have more info." You set down one of the potions Madeleine handed to you. "We'll ask her about it when we have enough to maybe piece together who it is."

"Screw 'em," You take a drink from your flask. "Aye can only think of a few right now who I would really trust, and that number is growin' smaller."

You put the cap back on your flask and turn to Madeleine, "And yer theory? About Gallete? It makes a lot of sense. I don't get the finer details of it, I need to figure more of this out."
"So, what is your next step?"

"Confront Catland, Aye'll go get Tuile and go right to Charlotte with what we know. It'll be enough to at least know if she's on our side or not."

"Aye, and after that I gotta deal with a dragon girl. Did I tell ye about her?"

Yuuki, Anna, and Atsuko are standing around a familiar looking bird with a familiar looking person on the back..

Green-haired, with a dumb smile, and a silly accent. It's Feliece. She's one of Gallete's knights, and usually the first to come ask for help when she needs it.

Speaking of which, that dumb smile seems to be missing from her face. Instead, it's replaced with a look of worry.

That look quickly vanishes when she sees you approaching.

"Jack! Jack Jack Jack Jack!" She's waving her arm like you somehow don't see her.

"Felice, what's goin' on?"

"I don't know if you know this, but Biscotti was attacked last night."
"I heard."
"Well, Charlotte was targeted. So she's been acting scared all day, even with knights posted in her bedroom. About an hour ago, one of the maids spooked her and she ran off and hid with Louise."

"She's HIDING?"
"Yeah! Hiding! Ain't that weird? Anyway we want all the help we can get. Cody is no where to be found and Tuile told me Yuuki took Anna to a safehouse. So that just leaves you unless Yuuki is coming with me."

Oh boy, you haven't had breakfast yet and now you have to search for a missing cat. You hope this isn't indicative of the rest of your day.
