>>44946732 >Ultramarines are canonically the best >Dark Angels were the greatest Legion >Sanguinius was the best Primarch >All three famous across the galaxy with the Ultramarine's empire and successors, the First Legion still being a thing and having an empire themselves, and the Blood Angels being seen as saints.
>>44946784 >Raptors are canonically the best >Raven Guard were the greatest legion >Corvus Corax was the best primarch Your argument is invalid >>44946884 >well-filled Name an organization that does the Raptor's job better?
>>44946927 It says directly in Codex: Space Marines that the Ultramarines are considered the greatest space marine chapter of them all, not to mention the most powerful. The Raptors are Literally Who, the Chapter. The only get mentioned in Forge World material and a tiny bit in the Limited Successor Edition of the 7th Edition Space Marine Codex.
>>44946927 Not better, because Space Marines are the meanest motherfuckers inthe galaxy, but >Everything in the Imperial Guard that is based on post WWI armies. >Tau >Ork Kommandos >Scout Marines most of the time >I'm almost sure Eldar have that kind of stuff too >Tyranids aren't exactly tacticool but genestealers and what's-their-name-who-go-underground sure are stealthy
>>44946927 Raven Guard, except they don't need camo to do it. Scout Marines, while not an organization, also do their exact job, but again without camo. Those orks that were left on Armageddon was it? When the first war i think failed? Ya those Commondo's were never rooted out, they just kept on messing shit up and ghosting inhabitents. I'd wager Stormtroopers, maybe even Kasrkin if they're going deep and not just flanking. Eldar Rangers.
>>44947079 >Raven Guard, except they don't need camo to do it. But that's not reasonable. How do they operate without detection if they don't use camo >Scout Marines, while not an organization, also do their exact job, but again without camo. This is why Raptor Scouts are the most tactical fuckers in the galaxy >Those orks that were left on Armageddon was it? When the first war i think failed? Ya those Commondo's were never rooted out, they just kept on messing shit up and ghosting inhabitents. Are Orks and therefore not as tactical as a more intelligent thing| >I'd wager Stormtroopers, maybe even Kasrkin if they're going deep and not just flanking. Scions aside, that's a fair point, too bad everything but scions was retconned >Eldar Rangers. Space elves are not reasonable
>>44947176 Shadow Walking, it's a special, magical way of movement that allows an eight foot tall supersoldier weighing over a tonne to waltz through a subway station without being spotted. In broad fucking daylight.
>>44946884 >Only defining trait is being tacticool and stealthy >>44946927 asked for someone else than the Raptors who did the same job, thus suggesting this job is being "tacticool and stealthy"
I listed other characters/organizations who were "tacticool and stealthy" and added the xenomorph ripoffs for the sake of completion. In the end I don't give a shit, raptors are still cool, even if I personally wouldn't call them "best chapter" since they're basically green Ultramarines with the Roman aesthetics replaced by USArmy aesthetics, but I was just passing by and felt the need to precise that no, Raptors aren't the only one doing what they're doing. And now I'm feeling the need to justify myself because some fat neckbeard whose hobby is, apparently, bickering over semantics called me a retard on the internet. Such is life.
>>44947176 >But that's not reasonable. How do they operate without detection if they don't use camo If in this setting brightly colored armor, shiny baubles and lights, or hulking frames don't deter stealth operations(so far it seems they haven't), in-universe they're pretty damn reasonable. >This is why Raptor Scouts are the most tactical fuckers in the galaxy Could be. Then again, no one really mentions them, so are they really? >Are Orks and therefore not as tactical as a more intelligent thing Surviving on a overwhelmingly enemy dominated planet using nothing but stealth and guerrilla warfare would require more then a guardsmen's amount of tactics and planning. >too bad everything but scions was retconned Agreed, damn shame. >Space elves are not reasonable Well, not all are. That's why they have their little paths; there's the crying screaming sword waving Banshees, and then we have by all standards reasonable Pathfinders.
>>44948273 Are you? Space Wolves are no longer even close to Legion strength- Great Companies only number around two hundred troops. The total strength of the Space Wolves is a far cry from their days of glory.
Meanwhile most of the Ultramarine's successors are perfectly willing to instantly reinforce their numbers when needed.
>>44948618 That's cute and all, but Russ wasn't even part of the creation of the imperium secundus. No one trusted him with any important shit. If he was in that first image he'd be on sanguinius' lap, ready to accept any orders he was given with a happy tail wag.
>>44948568 >"The Great Company of Ragnar Blackmane is second only to Logan Grimnars's, boasting almost two hundred battle-hardened warriors and led by perhaps the most talented Wolf Lord of all." - page 17, C:SW 5th Edition why so many people still say that wolfwolf have legion strenght when ?
>>44948762 >Russ wasn't even part of the creation of the imperium secundus
that's because he was actually busy fighting for the Emperor.
>no one trusted him with any important shit
not true again. Malcador and the Emps turned to Russ for the biggest shit. They had Russ act like the secret police, sending groups of SW to all the legions to kill their Primarchs if they went traitor. Russ was also the one chosen to lead the attack on Horus' flagship but the Knight Errant failed to set up the teleport homer so the mission was scrapped
>>44948895 Yeah man, he was an enforcer. He's the guy stood behind the mafia boss, not the boss himself. He was so foolhardy he was more happy to go off and knowingly die fighting horus than to use his brain.
That's a funny way of saying "crying in a corner after doing Horus' bidding and realizing people die when they are killed, that he wasn't cut out for being the Executioner and that his Legion were a bunch of retards pretending to be retarded".
>>44949059 >That's a funny way of saying "crying in a corner after doing Horus' bidding and realizing people die when they are killed, that he wasn't cut out for being the Executioner and that his Legion were a bunch of retards pretending to be retarded". None of that is even true dipshit
>>44949389 Even if we pretend for a moment that Russ was the second best combatant he still knew Horus would fuck him sideways and instead of thinking through that clearly fighting the guy in single combat isn't the best way to do things, he still went for it because it's all he was ever good at. Well, apart from taking orders from his superiors.
>>44949653 Alright I'll go through each of my points since you're not being helpful at all with what you don't get. >Russ think he's the best >Sanguinius wasn't dead by then, a 3 day battle with Lion gets laughed off with "just a prank bro" and he got destroyed by angron
>Russ understands he's not as strong as Horus yet still decides to try and take him in close combat alone >this is the only option he thinks he has to stop Horus
>Russ does important shit too! >he goes around breaking fingers and kneecapping fools when told to do so by his bosses
The funny thing is I actually like the guy for what he is, a cocksure viking warrior man. He's simply not suited for leadership or important as the other loyalist primarchs.
>>44949825 I agree with this. It's what makes him a great enforcer. He thinks he can beat anybody, so you can send him to fight and he will not be crippled by doubt or second guessing. However this also means he need o have someone in charge, who can actually asses if he can win or not sending him on appropriate missions. Russ is a tool, a very good one too, and like a tool he needs someone to be wielding him o actually be of any use.
