The latest rules, the CRP (aka LRB6):
/tg/ FUMBBL group, signups are OPEN (rules below):
NAF News About GW's Reprint of Blood Bowl:
There will be two leagues next season. /tg/ League II, and /tg/ League II Rookies
The criteria for entry to /tg/ League II Rookies are:
>ANY coach, NEW or RETURNING, may start a NEW team
The criteria for entry to /tg/ League II are:
>ANY coach with can enter, with either a RETURNING team from /tg/ League I or a NEW team if they wish for a real challenge
After a 6-game Swiss tournament in both leagues, the top 6 teams from the main league, and top 2 from the rookies will play-off for the overall Championship.
Apply to the Group on FUMBBL with your [L] Team, and PM me (MauledByTheTigers) stating your team name and which league you wish to join. I've wiped a couple of applications from teams with games played or multiple applications. I will reply with whether you got everything right or not.
This means you can only apply with ONE team to join either /tg/ League II or the Rookies. Choose wisely whether you want to be a Rookie or not.
If you're "abandoning" a /tg/ League I team to start a new team, don't worry, they may play again one day, just don't have any non-/tg/ League games in the meantime with them.
Applications will be open for ~6 more days.
my wip guide to "first teams" for bloodbowl is about halfway done at 5774 words, 31414 characters
It's sorted, in tiers, by my opinion which are the best teams to start with to learn the game. In brief I talk about the pros and cons and there is an old school gamefaq ctrl+f table of contents
I'll be posting it on pastebin and steamguides and editing it with thread C&C (comments and criticism)
Well, I'm in the the League Cup final at my local Blood Bowl league. Mostly through the efforts of my opponents dice rather than anything I did.
Basically I turned up, didn't make any serious mistakes, and let his dice do the rest.
Maybe I personally would have stopped trying to pass the ball after the third fumble, but I've been there, I know how it gets.
Only problem is, the final is against my personal nemesis:
Let me be clear, this is the all-stars year, where we all brought back the three/four year old teams we promised we wouldn't, and this guy has been using Skaven in varying forms for about 5 to 6 years, and he's playing so deep into his comfort zone it's not even funny.
Meanwhile, I'm playing with this: http://www.hdwsbbl.co.uk/teams/the-lonsmouth-shadows/roster/
Oh, and number 6 now has Dirty Player, so the team value difference is even greater.
Was playing bloodbowl today on xbox, and the announcers kept mentioning the "god of bloodbowl: Nuffel"
And for the first time i realised it was them pronouncing NFL as though it were a word.
I am slow
...I've been playing Blood Bowl for over 15 years and I've only just realised that now thanks to you.
Anybody else miss the custom cheerleaders from bb1? I found them kinda fun, especially the Khemri ones.
Also why does the bb1 pitch feel much smaller? this bugs me to no end how its the same number of squares but feels twice the siz of the bb2 pitch
>yfw the sport being played is actually called Amorical Football
>the Blood Bowl is just the main tournament like the Super Bowl is
>NAF stands for Nuffle Amorical Football
So if I play humans now and didn't like cyanide Orcs, dorfs, or chaos. Which of nurgle, undead, and necro do you think I will like? Plan on making a team of each to pick my second team. Could pick all 3 if I decide I like them all, but I don't think I will like both necro and undead, I think I will pick whichever one of them I feel is better because of how similar they are.
Chaos take too fucking long to skill and Nurgle comes with more fun mutations and a better big guy along with rotters who I could foul with
Dorfs are too slow and I only had one good dorf drive and I got lizard'd a lot
Orcs for some reason die on me. My humans never fucking die and I have linemen who spend 14 turns marked up vs dudes taking blocks. But every time I take Orcs I get diced on the armor rolls.
Also their fastest player is MV 6 and they can't into passing.
I play humans. Tried a few games of woodies. First was against other elves and I almost pitch cleared them. The others werent and all my elves died. I don't really like elves not bashy enough
If you think chaos is hard to skill up, just wait for nurgle baby
Actually, wait a second
>bashy skills up too slow
>bashy runs too slow
>welfs are too squishy
Lizardmen was made for you
6 super bashy guys
Excellent big guy
movement 8 ball handlers with stunty
Punch them to death then dash in for some quick TDs
You don't click that link.
You need 2 teams, so create a Fumbbl account if you haven't already, and then build two teams (they don't matter that much but test games don't affect a team's records at all so you can even use the team you plan on entering a league with).
Then, once the teams have been made, choose the "Play" option next to each team's name from the team management page in your account. That will prompt the Java client to open twice.
In each one, choose "Start New Game" and name the game whatever your want, but make sure you type "test:" before the rest of the name of the game. Make sure also that both clients have the exact same game name typed in.
From there you play both halves of the game in each client. Make sure you play each game to turn 16 even if you're just hitting End Turn over and over 'till it's done, or neither team will be able to start another game until you've opened it again to finish.
thanks friend, I have been using the link, but I did realize that I need to change "test" to "live"
it's a bit faster than copy pasting magic into the bar
didn't realize about the "test" as the game name, thanks!
I was bored, so I made a thing for any Necromantic teams that would like to incorporate this into their pitch logo.
It will cover the two outermost lanes of the wide zones on the Fumbbl pitch.
It's actually your team logo, so under the team info you can click the "change logo" picture and set it to this (you'll have to upload it first).
If you want your own logo in addition to this, just center it between the two bars.
Bears mentioning this copypasta is from Monday, so:
>Applications will be open for ~6 more days.
Mauled clarified he intends the deadline to be Sunday evening (early Sunday afternoon for the US).
In shorter leagues, are +MA or +AV really worth it when a player is already short on fundamental skills?
I feel like you don't want to delay getting something like Guard, Mighty Blow, or Dodge for another 10-15 SPP just to get +MA or +AV when it pops up early on.
Just pointing out some common "fixes" for the killstack. I don't think killstack players are really big problems in a proper league - it takes so awfully long to get there, and a player with Claw always has a big "FOUL ME" target on his back.
That being said, it does get a little perverse that against a ClawPOMB Chaos team your guys are probably safer on the ground than standing up!
+MA depends a lot on the player in question. On a Catcher or Gutter Runner I would definitely do it. On a Blitzer piece... it can be hard to pass up getting Dodge or Tackle for it.
If your league goes for multiple seasons though it's still a strong contender - it might not be as immediately useful as having tackle but an extra point of movement comes in handy a lot more than you think.
That's not what I expected. Not sure how to twist that into a theme beyond the basic street names. Here's a few ideas.
Vince "The Tickler" Marcone
Six Fingers Farraci
Tony "Steel Arm" Monticelli
Vito "Slim" Venturo
Don Da Don Don
Tony 'Steel Arm' Montice
Six Fingers Farraci
Vito "Slim" Venturo
Tommy "Twitchy" Marcele
Blake "Breaker" Baker
Sammy "Slasher" Salizar
Butch "The Blocker"
Sam "Baby face" Stefan
Vinnie 'The Tickler'
is our team named " "Bloodbowl Team" " And they play at the " "Stadium" "
Going through some of the tournament winning teams from the last /tg/ FUMBBL league - and I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry at the fact that of the 18 TDs scored across all games by the tournament champion, Quickslithers, 15(!!) of them have been by Saurii.
Jimmie Two Hands
Jonnie 'Air Head' Palazo
Rickie 'The Rat' Abbadelli
Stefano 'Strong Arm' Aquila
other good first names include
How do you deal with in your face defensive setups when you can't get 2 dices on the los as humans.
I am having trouble on offense against chaos or dorfs when they have more strength and or guard.
I can't believe you can't get a single hole,if you can't bash it,ignore the line (but it should be easy with a guard piece). I don't understand how you can be unable to open a sungle hole, even elves can
I will coach Maximum Marvelous Maiden. I expect things to go to shit, but at least I will have fun and I have a different [L] team to replace the MMM if they do perform like shit.
Rather than being a joke, if you read the old 2nd ed History of Blood Bowl, it is somewhat lightly implied that the Blood Bowl stadium where the sport was first discovered is just a modern day American football stadium.
In this story, the dwarf scholar Roz-El is simply a dwarf who knows the arcane language of modern Humans. He slightly mistranslates and misinterprets certain aspects - like NFL = Nuffle, a ruling body, which he takes to mean a God. And athletes are warriors who kill each other not sportsmen who just compete.
This isn't definite and there were never any absolute signs flagging it up. But in the early days of GW, I always got the feeling there were more than a handful of hints suggesting the Old World was really a futuristic planet earth that had fallen into a new dark age of primitive weapons and war - the geography that is only slightly shifted from the real world; the 2400-2500 year dates, etc.
this is exactly right. You can usually blitz a hole to the side of the LOS. They deploy, you decide on a side and stack it with your receivers, blitz hole and run catchers through. With Elves the blitzer is also reasonably fast and AG4 so can even catch pretty well, and in derperate circumstances I don't see why the Humans couldn't try the same.
What are the dimensions of the pitch? I assume you need a certain image size, and a certain size of the lines so that it lines up good with the pitch.
Or will it automatically resize so the edge of your image is always at the edge of the pitch?
Isn't old Warhammer lore incredibly cheeky with Old World - New World, either being post-apocalyptic fantasy on earth, or a near similar world?
Later editions seems to have moved away from that but the geography of the world seems to indicate they haven't really given a single fuck.
The dimensions of the pitch that you can put a team logo on are the dimensions of that image. It extends from your side of the scrimmage line, back to the front edge of your end zone.
Unfortunately as far as I'm aware there's no way to cover your opponent's half with that.
And no, it does not automatically resize. If your image is larger than that, the edges will be cut off.
Basically what >>44938001 said, although the exact size you'll want is 360px by 450px, since each square on your half of the pitch that isn't in the end zone is 30px tall and 30px wide.
My Little Arsenal.
Still need to apply though. They are all Flings casted for one purpose: Bomb the living hell out on the field by flying tackle (read: get thrown at) the enemies.
Seriously, even if I don't have any chances I'll be giggling all the time while I'm shouting "FIRE IN THE HOLE!" at the screen.
There are direct correlations, yes - dark elves as the rebellious pervert cousins to a nobler race clearly being Americans is an obvious one. I can see why they moved away from it a little though - chaos dwarves as Babylonian sadistic slave drivers, hobgoblins as Asian golden horde, mutants from the chaos wastes of Russia, that sort of thing.
Were skaven meant to be like the mafia? Italia/Tilea, clandestine killers spending their time lurking unnoticed in the underworld...
Rats are shecklestiens dude
The plotting, poisining wells, secret control, propaganda saying they aren't even real. For fucks sake the triangle of the skaven, put another on top and its a star of david
Look at the Skaven armybook the page numbers are stars of david
Actually, I just signed up with my new team, which are dwarves! I ditched my Goblin team, Rerolls Required, and going with a more """"serious"""" team.
Well, I didn't want to be the first to suggest this. But it did always look kind of that way, yes.
I have an earlier army book, and the page numbers are just regular, not that explicit.
Werewolves are awesome but I can't get over the usefulness of 2 Big Guys that don't have a negatrait.
They break more easily.
And Nurgle's Rot doesn't put a player straight into your dugout like a Necromancer raising the dead does.
Because rotters get +1 to ma and ag along with mutations on normal rolls with the only negative being decay. Zombies last longer but rotters just have more options as long as they don't get smacked around too much.
Here's where we're at. 25 players in total so far, with the weekend still to go for signups!
PM me if you think you're in the wrong group, or aren't on here.
>I am now the weakest team in the vet league.
Guess I'm gonna have to step my game up.
Hull City A.F.C. supporter, we have one of the most cringeworty/post-ironic chants in the Football League.
wtf is a meme team.
both those rosters have been around since day one of Blood Bowl. Mixed teams are much more representative of the earlier editions of the game. It's nice that they finally came around to okaying a handful of mongrel squads. Because those are the ones that take so much more playtesting to get right.
Imagine if there were still the 8(?) College of Magic rosters too, that would be neat.
I have a LRB5 update of Dungeonbowl (but for use with the modern one-race teams) but don't know if there's one for the CRP, not that there would be much difference at all.
A very thrilling first match for the BB2 league! Chaos vs Brets!
2-0 for the Brets! They should be looking good to win!
CANT WAKE UP
ah come one mate now you have the chance to invent new names for all of those players
Necro guys do you put surehands on your werewolves? Or one of them? You need sure hands for the skaven or wood elf matchup (I am not sure who else ever bothers with strip ball) but block, dodge, side step, MB, are all more important for the wolves. You figure you take one ghoul for Wrestle Tackle jump up because fuck putting wrestle on a wolf. But do you carry a block surehands ghoul and then just never play him vs teams that have no strip ball?
>But do you carry a block surehands ghoul
>and then just never play him vs teams that have no strip ball?
No it is nice to have 2 werewolves on offense if one carries the ball your offense is actually quite weak.
Also I would not field the sure hands ghoul on defense.
Willy is doing a NURGLE team kickstarter
You might want to get behind this. I love his necro undead and khemri teams. One of the beast is cthulu but I'm hoping the second is the puppy
>dat nurgling dice holder
I can someone shrink this to fit the logo size?
The real reason the leatherheads don't have a logo is, that I'm not super clever nor do I have photoshop and gimp is weird
Here you go - added the tg pitc template for you as well
Normally I'd say "Don't you dare, Crab", but I'm in the Rookie league so I guess there's room for two of her. For now.
If I have to replaces a dead Centaur, Abbie is coming down from the managers box.
I was wondering if there were any games like Blood Bowl only not discontinued. It is difficult to get my friends to put down money on off-brand miniatures and old minis. I know about Guild Ball, just wanted to see what other options there were.
Sorry if this is too off topic, but you guys seemed like the best guys to ask.
The problem is that this is a six-round tournament. Chaos takes a while to get those skills up (and forget ClawPOMB until the third or fourth season) and those first few games are pretty critical to your standings.
They're not completely unviable so if anyone wants to play them I say go for it, but there are other options for getting ST4 without sacrificing Block (like Orcs).
There's also Dreadball, but it plays considerably differently as well - it plays more like hockey/basketball to Blood Bowl's rugy/football mix.
Dreadball's played on a hex arena that's more ovoid, and has three score hexes that work more like basketball hoops - IIRC you need to make a skill roll to score. Also, after each point players do not reset to their original position - play continues with the players staying where they are, which makes it much more like basketball where you have to hustle back to defence after scoring.
It's updated using a "seasons" model - every so often a big rules update along with new teams and models come out, and I think there's a 4-player mode, but I haven't really been following it that much.
Another alternative is Elfball, which has it's own line of miniatures. Rules are available on the site. http://www.elfball.org/
Rules-wise it's much closer to BB than Dreadball but is also played on a hex grid that creates an overall circular pitch. It predates Dreadball and the two games I feel are closer to each other than BB.
Also, on the topic of your friends - the idea of rules coming with "official" miniatures is actually a relatively new idea, and one mostly promoted by GW. For a lot of miniatures games, especially historicals, there is no such thing as "off-brand" miniatures, since there's no official brand to begin with.
Impact's Elfball mini's were what I meant by off-brand. I actually forgot they had a game tied to them. I think part of the reason this official mini thing has become a stipulation for the game is just so everyone is more set on keeping with the game if they are dropping like 40+ on minis.
Whos "Reading Painbow"?
You need to join, I have yet to see such a fantastic naming theme. Ray-bad-berry got me so hard
Why are there so many teams that aren't registered yet?
PM MAULED IF YOU WANT IN DAMMIT
Hey guys, who are some pretty notable players in the /tg/ FUMBBL League who are not a part of the Quickslithers, Ashenvale Leaves, Animeted Clothing, or One Night Rack? I wanted to know for research purposes.
Also, I know about Tiny Tibby and I will give him a mention in my research.
This is his turn 1 battle formation
And this is his team on turn 3 after me using a wizard (with the ball 2 squares from his endzone)
I love BB2
Just spent an hour on various google searches for dwarven women for my team.
>Google thinks Elves and Dwarfs are close enough for search results.
>Disgusting Humies with their hair tied around their chins and lips.
>Beard/No Beard? OK! Wispy neckbeard-looking mutton chops? Fuck off!
>Evil Dwarf ladies a no go
>Dwarf Harem miniatures, ok
>Short humans who are clearly guys in dresses
>Tall humans with fake beards
>Racist Cafe Press Slogans
>THAT IS CLEARLY AN ELF
>Dwarven Women = Wenches
>I accidentally a deviant art. Why are there so many of theses?!?
These femdorfs alway made me expand dong
I'd totally keep the blitzers and runners, maybe the troll slayers for a real dorf team but use normal blockers
I'll assume you never played the wargame.
1-To answer your question they are a very new team officially but have been in fumbbls "secret league" for some time
2-Its Bretts, they are noble French Catholics, not wild evil protestant Englishmen who bully poor Ireland
Man, i can't draw, and i dont even know what my fucking logo is supposed to be anyway.
Do you want me to use some random image absolutely unrelated to anything?
There's Sunspitta of the Red Fang Rockets, who many believe is actually a clumsy elf in an orc suit given his ability to actually dodge and make passes.
Speaking of other elf-like players, there's also Mitsu Murata on Bretonnian Werewolf in Tilea (there's some irony in a ghoul being the best and most reliable player on that team), and The Late Herr Hausen on the Dead Doornails was probably a Dark Elf Blitzer in a previous life.
Ever since Bretonnians became playable in Fantasy there have been a ton of fan-made Bretonnian teams. There's never been an "official" roster though and technically there still isn't one - the one used in BB2 is a brand-new roster that's heavily based on the most popular fan-made Bretonnian roster, which is plasmoids: http://www.plasmoids.dk/bbowl/BBBretonnians.htm
The biggest difference between Plasmoid's roster and the BB2 Bretonnian roster is that BB2 removes S access from the Blitzers.
This makes the Brets a little less "Guard on EVERYBODY", but on the flip side it does mean Blitzers are a little limited in their development.
Secret League teams are still under development and there's no way to include them at present. The rosters listed there are for playtesting/feedback purposes and for players who want to try them on the tabletop.
You can do a lot with stock images (ideally with a transparent background, so .png), colour, and clip art assembled with a nice font. Take the Knife-Ears logo for example.
We had moved on to discussing peasants eating MVPs to no effect and then dying, and I was responding that having them eat one MVP and die was better than having them eat two or more and still dying quickly.
>Guard is the one skill in blood bowl that gets stronger with every player that has it
I'm pretty sure I've heard this said about every fucking skill ever.
>Fend is the one skill in blood bowl that gets stronger with every player that has it
>Stand Firm is the one skill in blood bowl that gets stronger with every player that has it
>Side Step is the one skill in blood bowl that gets stronger with every player that has it
I wouldn't agree with any of the latter, but "Guard wins games" has a lot of truth to it. Playing against one lineman with guard is annoying; playing against 5 linemen with guard is terrifying.
I'm saying the phrase is redundant. You'd be better served by saying,
"Any skill that helps a player maintain his position becomes more effective with the more players that have it."
Fend does this (denying the opponent positions they want), Sidestep does this (denying the opponent from forcing a piece to somewhere you don't want), Stand Firm does this (a little bit of both), Guard does this (making it more difficult for a player to be moved by raising the STR requirement for 2d blocks).
The more pieces that have these skills, the harder it is for the opponent to find a solution where they merely have to ignore those skilled players.
>1spp from getting level 3 on my guard block lineman
>fire kicker because he has 10 spp and I am just gunna give the guard guy kick
>level up snake eyes
So now I need a new kicker
OK, if someone is interested in 4cc, there is a thread currently going and a possiblility of having BB rep has been raised. Go there if you want to discuss it, I saw that some people here mention it from time to time.
Post stats. I need to know if my epeen is bigger. It is important.
Does germanbro still do commentating, i havent watched the thing wof quite a while because all of my favourite teams have been sent to babbys cups, while random boards nobody gives a shit about compete in the main cup.
Anyway, meme virtual divegrass aside, here's the current signups!
GB's basically dead. The "new" guy, Boris, is a good guy and a good organiser, but he lacks the passion and knowledge for football.
Actually Boris is much less comitted right now, Ved and Sou are the people who stream the most - Ved being the wizard behind most of 4cc hype videos, and Sou being >Sou. They are fairy good.
Yeah, but when i see another team, i can't get myself not to think "i wonder if this guy's doing as well as i do". Right after i made that post realised i could just search your team in the league, and got the relief i needed.
>Play against 1700TV Skaven team
>2 POMBClaw stormvermin (one lvl6 with tackle+horns as well), 4 lvl4+ gutter runners, and the rest are lvl 1-2 linemen, with a few extra linemen and gutter runners on the bench.
>Every single blitz by stormvermin results in KO or injury.
>my attempt to foul the lvl6 stormvermin gets me ejected with Stormvermin just KOd.
>My fireball aimed at 6 targets scores 2 stuns and 2 KOs, that's it.
>He scores on turn 4, i have 2 injuries and 2 KOs
>After some fighting and more injuries, he takes the ball on turn 8
>Start 2nd half with 0-2 and 4 men down.
>He kicks close to the LoS, i grab the ball, set a very loose cage and try to get my catchers through
>On his turn he dodges through my defense, gets 3 gutter runners next to the ball carrier, then blitzes with 4'th one who has stipball. >Takes the ball, scores next turn
>This repeats 3 more times by the same scenario and i cant do shit because with so few players, if i cage properly i have no chance to score.
>Look up the guy's stast, he's 20-0-0 now, with only 7 games played to completion.
Fruitimals coach here. Being a bb2 babby, any thing i need to know about fummbl before the league starts? Like human catchers being av8 instead of av7.
I tried a test game and it worked fine. Is there a time limit on turns?
I spectated a few games it seemed like there wasn't.
There is a soft 4 minute limit on turns, where if the turn takes that long, the opponent can call a time-out on you. If he does, the current action you are performing at the time will be your last move for the turn.
Another BB2 player with no fumbbl experience here. Do you also have to set your full path before committing it? Sometimes i change the path depending on availibility of rerolls, going for safer path if i have to spend a RR for my first dodge.
Without having to declare foul, pass or hand-off, you can decide not to do them if you have to spend a RR that turn. Gonna be a bit annoying without that.
Practice a few games before the season starts. The control scheme is different and you will save yourself a lot of headache if you ingrain FUMBBLs controls into your head.
YOU MUST DECLARE A BLITZ BEFORE YOU MOVE. I I turned aprobably win into a definite tie that way. I think you also have to declare fouls, hand offs and pass offs, and don't get them mixed up.
>tfw game ended with 2 dark elves still on the pitch
Sure he beat me 2-0 but if I could have just gotten a pow on that witch and fouled the lino I could have gotten all of his players out. I did manage to make him drop 700 TV kek
Just a reminder to everyone that FUMBBL has an IRC server for coaches - details are in http://fumbbl.com/chat.php
We've been using the #tg channel - swing by if you want to chat. Just connect with any IRC client to irc.fumbbl.com and type /join #tg
Any League team can play against another league team in a friendly pickup game, even if neither team is in a league. I'd recommend sending a PM out to the group and try to get a few friendly matches in with brand-new League teams so you can get a feel for the interface and avoid misclicks and the like.
>Hit 1500 TV
>Nothing but clawpomb chaos faggots
>Full guard lizardmen with blodge sidestep skins
The balance is real
>dorfs worst team
>not the lizardmen
You clearly havent played the lizards. Here's how it feels like:
Let's talk about the Vet league.
First off we the returning top 8 from the last season - on top of winning the tourney these teams also got a bit more experience by getting additional post-season games. Of these, Skudrinka's Ashenvale Leaves are withdrawing (and they're literally a TV1000 WE team after all the casualties), theheterick's16 Shades of Green, and possibly Gosungki's Pharoahs of Funk. That leaves:
Quickslithers (7/1/1): League champion and home of Brood, tied for the most casualties inflicted in the group. Out of the 18 TDs they scored last season, 15 were scored by Saurii and 1 by a Krox, which has given a coach Tendril a very strong Saurus core. I'm going to assume Tendril can't keep getting away with 5+ pickups and will have to start using Skinks this season, so attrition is the big question here - a dead or seriously injured Saurus could tear a big hole in their plans this season.
Animeted Clothing (6/0/2) - Crab was league leader last season (in no small part due to his impressive casualty rate; at least 2 casualties a game!) and his Chaos Dwarves have gotten swole, with 2 +ST players and a +AGI Bull Centaur - and nearly the entire blocker core have now taken Guard. On the other hand he'll be giving up at least 200k in inducements every round this season, which means every game will be against a wizard, chainsaw, star player, or even a combination of all three!
One Night Rack (5/2/1) - There is one ST4 (were)man on this team to fear and his name is Poundinator, tied with Brood for most casualties inflicted. He took a beating in the semi-final going up against the Lizards and whoever plays Tooby first will get to breathe easy for his absence. It's important to note that while he has the wolf's share of SPP, there are several other important players on this Necro team - the +ST Flesh Golem Freddy McBro, and the playmaker Guard Wight Grothon the Demonator go a long way towards providing a reliable base for the Poundinator's success.
>badass pro players can examine every single thing like this and make cool announcements
>my bumbling ass can barely not get wrecked on the pitch
Guys like you give me incentive to git gud.
Bretonnian Werewolf in Tilea (3/2/2): The second of 3 Necro teams in the Vet league and ironically enough, the star player on this team is probably the Blodge +MA ghoul Mitsu Murata. Not nearly as scary as One Night Rack, but potentially much better at playing the ball.
Dead Doornails (4/0/3): Big fan favourites, not just for the quality of player uniforms (icons) but also the death and destruction they seem to bring every match (with a lot of it often being their own!). They've inflicted almost as many casualties over the course of their matches as Crab's Chaos Dwarves - and they've done it against much bashier teams. Losing two ghouls early in the season has done little to set the team back, as both Mummies now have Guard and Wight The Late Herr Hausen has recently (re)discovered his AG4 elven heritage.
Here's a fun fact. Before the playoffs of Season I, the One Night Rack Werewolf named The Poundinator led the league in casualties with 7 casualties inflicted, in Star Player Points with 31 SPP, and he was the best Scoring Blocker with 4 (4 TD and 8 CS). After the playoffs, he tied with the Quickslithers Saurus Brood with 8 casualties inflicted, in Star Player Points with 33 SPP, and in Scoring Blocker with 4 (both had 4 TD and 8 CS). With both teams playing in Season II, it would be very interesting to see who shall do better between the two, and who shall prevail in a direct confrontation. Unfortunately for the One Night Rack, the Poundinator will be missing the first game of Season II due to his jaw being broken, which would give Brood a head start in the records race.
On to the rest of the teams in the league, going by points scored (see the standings here: http://fumbbl.com/p/group?op=view&at=&group=9828&p=tournaments&show=39422) and ending with the two new ones.
Red Fang Rockets (3/0/3): A solid performance by League organizer Mauled was only enough to get him to rank #11, just short of top 8. However the Rockets took absolutely no casualties last season and more importantly have picked up Block on two of the Black Orcs. Sunspitta the Orc Thrower has also developed a (relatively) reliable passing game which will give the Rockets some much needed versatility in the coming season. Rumours of Sunspitta actually being an elven foundling raised by Orcs are yet to be confirmed.
Buddhist Elves (1/3/2) - The only remaining Wood Elf team in the League is the one that went with the 1Treeman/1WD start, and in typical Blood Bowl fashion of course it was the Wardancer that got killed before any of the linemen. Coach sasasing has however saved up the cash to reincarnate his star Wardancer for this season. More importantly, all the linemen lived through the entire season, an extreme rarity for any Wood Elf team, with 4 dodge elves now available. Putting all your karma in the dodge basket is not without risks, though; fans, keep your fingers crossed they don't run into any dwarves this season!
Caledor Leatherheads (1/1/3) - Unbent, unbowed, and unbroken - the Leatherheads wear the scars of last season proudly, having suffered a terrible beating at the hands of, well, everybody else. There are a few bright spots, however - most of the experience has gone to the uninjured players on the squad, and if coach Ayylmao can scrape together enough cash to lure another set of nobles away from Ulthuan to replace his injured players he will be in a good spot. It might be just me as well, but it also appears that coach Ayylmao has not spent the experience accrued by his Elven Catchers into skills.
Belladonna's Nightshades (2/1/3): Losing 2 blitzers in the same game midway through the season really hurt this team's shot at playoff success (probably for the best, as they would have gotten murdered by the Chaos Dwarves). With a blodge catcher and thrower, this team now features 6(!) Blodge players, making these girls very difficult to get down. The SPP spread across this team is very even - expect to see this team grow very quickly and very fast within the first few games. As with the Wood Elves, though, a run-in with Dwarves early-on could wreck their plans for this season.
Rolling the Rat Risks (2/1/3): Despite having the most dismal casualty differential in the tournament (-12: at least 2 casualties *more* than the opponent every game!), not a single Gutter Runner has died in the past season, which is both good news and bad news for Coach Weil Undi. The good news is he has a strong and skilled Gutter Runner core for this season. The bad news is that they account for most of the team's SPP earnings and make very big, juicy targets for everybody else.
Vintage Veterans (1/2/2): The 3rd Necro team in the league works off a wolf-centric ball game, with Blodge werewolf Grey Vixen leading the pack. All the ingredients for a winning Necro team are here - a Blodge wolf runner, a pair of Block Flesh Golems, and a Guard Wight, but the other two Necro teams are very similarly developed and it will be down to the coach that can make the most of it.
Naggarond Knife Ears (2/0/3): Coach Quinze will neither confirm nor deny that under-the-table match-fixing prevented his team from playing his sixth round last season. As a result the Naggarond Knife-Ears are sitting on a little less SPP (and fewer casualties!) than they could have, but what they do have is very well-distributed, with a solid and versatile set of players, including the aptly named AG5 Blitzer Falkniven Fine-Fingered, and a bit of a war chest to start off the season.
Candy Rappers (2/0/4): Skaven Blitzer Ludacrispy Treats and Thrower Crispy Creme ate a bit too many past-due-date Warpstone Gobstoppers last season and have developed a bad case of admantine claw syndrome and extra arm syndrome respectively. This is all well and good for coach LawlessJustice however as it gives him a truly lethal blitzer threat against all the high AV this season and an excellent ball grabber, but the rest of the team remains skill-less. Nevertheless the goblin side of the team has been hard at work and we'll likely see some rapid development from the line goblins - assuming they survive the next match!
The final two teams are:
Foot Blooters (0/0/0): A fresh High Elf team from coach Yogzototh, who has not blown all his cash on gold trim but has instead held 10k back which puts him slightly closer to a Apothecary hire. Probably a wise decision, given the very vicious starts some of the teams experienced during the last season, and the high elf passing game gives him a chance at stealing a TD or two against a higher-TV opponent.
Kawaii Dwarfgakuen's (0/0/0): By some twist of fate Coach Big_Moth's goblins have abandoned him for another get-rich quick scheme, forcing him to scramble for a job posting as school coach with the Old World's most venerable Nipponese Dwarven boarding school. Kawaii Dwarfgakuen brings a big injection of tackle into a league that previously has not had a lot. An early matchup against a dodge-reliant opponent will be the team's best shot at gaining some experience, but it will be an uphill battle against these vastly more experienced teams.
I really enjoyed that summary of the vet league teams. And yes, I retired with Ashenvale Leaves since my Elves are kinda broken down to shredded bits as stated above, but I'll return with some terror of Flings this season. We'll see how this turns out.
New league HYPE!!
There's really nothing to say about the rookie league teams yet - their coaches and players have no history to them and there's no context.
If there's another season after this one I'll do another vet league review with all the teams in it; consider it incentive to stick through the rookie season and get to the big leagues.
Fucking rain I literally did not pick the ball up until like turn 15
There's no need to purge the veteran teams that the coaches haven't already retired - they can be brought back in for future seasons so long as they haven't been playing matches outside the /tg/ league.
If we are talking about the guys who have been in the group for over 2 months with no activity that's probably up to Mauled. They're not really causing any harm, if you want team lists that only deal with the actively playing teams all you have to do is wait for the season to start tomorrow and use the tournament guides.

Making a brets team and need a theme / name.
Thinking of making a Crecy themed one, using the name of nobles from the battle.
Couldn't come with a good name though.
Pic very related.
One thing I learned in the first league is that I should be fouling more often, not stupidly or recklessly, but when needed. I need to get over the fear of having my player sent off.
another reason to stick in the #tg IRC channel is BloodBot, a bot I made that announces new /tg/ league matches happening with a link to spectate, you can even make him PM you if you want but I'll explain that when I boot him back up.
I might be able to have it on 24/7 this time around too, but no guarantees, if I'm not able to then it'll probably be up around during server time life hours
My thoughts about a new Blood Bowl release and new rules
Rules about Homebrew Teams like a point buy system. Where you can put your own team together from available Players.
New skill category. Next to Passing Strength Agility General and Mutations there should be another skill category that handles Cheating which should be like Mutations only accessed by some teams/players on a normal or double. Goblins/Snotlings/Halflings for instance should get normal access to cheating.
As an example for a new cheating skill:
A player with this skill is allowed to (once per drive) sneak onto the pitch from the substitution area to handle this the coach rolls a d6 and on a +4 the player managed to sneak on the pitch unnoticed and placed on any sideline square on the teams own half. On a 1-3 the referee noticed the player and sends him off.
I agree about a well done cheating access, but that skill you listed looks really busted, having a number advantage is too important for it to be just a skill.
Also i would personallybe against the brewing, much of the players balance is based on the limitations and perks of their teammates, brewing would never be balanced and i wouldn't like so much of a min maxed blood bowl
Latest update. As usual shout at me if anything's wrong.
Signups will close tonight,
but will be semi-permable as even numbers always makes things easier.Depending on who is in work tomorrow I will set it all up then, or slightly later on.
Ok, first batch of linemen done
I know they ain't perfect but I like them
Darn, I was hoping everything would be ready by tonight so I could possibly squeeze my first match in if my opponent was available, or at least watch a game or two.
Sad to see quite a few veteran teams that were still in good shape don't seem to be returning.
Even sadder that their coaches don't even seem to plan to re-enter rookies.
Don't be a Negative Nigel now! Yeah, maybe my fault as we have had a bit of a gap, but we do have more players than last time.
>15 teams for 6 slots vs 17 teams for 2 slots
Well, i dont regret my decision to start with the vets. Although i might be wrong if the skill level difference is higher than i thought.
Has FUMBBL come down with Autistm?
No nobody greets or says gg anymore. Like the first time it was my gobbos vs halflings and I just assumed he was a cunt. But than again with a fresh chaos team.
Gobbo fanatic with Block, MB, sprint, +mv, sure feat, +mv slaps your gf's ass
