>>44907760 No, like the anons said, fixed amount of books. Hell, maybe we'll get a 30K compatible beast model/army. I'm liking the scary outer-orks so far. Also as far as new 40k series go, I'm waiting on a nice AdMech v Tau book to go with the Damocles campaign.
>>44914506 They aren't being canon-ended. In 32K the chapter got fucked, and the successors/Imperium at large were worried about the morale blow of losing such a highly vaunted force, so covertly just renamed the chapter Fists Exemplar to the Imperial Fists.
>>44913664 There's one survivor My bet is that the Imperium will name him Chapter Master and give him a successor chapter that takes on all the Fist's assets and heraldry. Since Phalanx didn't go into battle, and theoretically all the Fists' relics are save on board, wouldn't assimilating a successor and its relics be a win as far as wargear goes?
>>44907760 >go to book store >pick up "I AM SLAUGHTER!" by Dam Abnoot >hot as sex hipster girl at checkout counter >*peenus hardens >SLAM the graphic novel down and hipthrust the counter sending pleasure through my pants around my groin >girl gives me the side face cringe look then measures me up and down >she turns to bag the book and I get a good inspection of her butt >I tell her to give me her number and whip the good ole' cellular out of it's holster. >she tells me it's 12 dollars and 47 cents. >yell "FOR THE EMPEROR!", and moonwalk out the store with my new Black Library Book I am the Slaughter by D Abnott.
>>44922725 And aren't they generally a fairly spread out chapter, with plenty of recruiting worlds and the ability to quickly return all their chapter assets to Terra should it ever be attacked?
I'd rather they just gather all the Imperial Fist novitiates that are obviously going to be half-trained or newly recruited on various worlds and start molding them into a chapter again with whatever is left of the higher command.
The Imperial Fists are the worst chapter to wipe out and replace, even though the idea is pretty shitty in the first place. Why not the Iron Hands, who refused to leave Medusa undefended during the 13th Black Crusade? Or the White Scars, who would have to defend Chogris? Or the Blood Angels - hell, they practically have already done it before.
The one legion that fulfilled its job résumé to the tee and this is how BL rewards them. Fantastic. I dont even see why they are camping the Imperial Walls at this point. Dorn lent a pair of hands to stop the first black crusade so this whole "peace is the imperiums greatest threat" shit shouldn't have even stuck.
>>44924614 >I still haven't figured out how shills like Carnac fit into their master plan Tom Kirby's sex slaves trying to earn the right to suck off their master first. >>44924675 >with a purity seal How? A little piece of paper with a wax seal can't hang a man. Maybe a noose made out of purity seals would work.
>>44924691 What about dreads? Are they still around? Until proven otherwise I say the possibility of Crusade era IFs who got lost in the Warp who just happen to pop out in the timeline this series takes place can refill the Imperial Fists' missing numbers. >>44924774 I thought you wanted to hang yourself, not burn yourself.
>>44924654 Mainly for political reasons. They discuss it as a sign of the astartes presence on Terra, when all that's on it are chapter serfs.
>>44924577 Except that the series adds more to the Imperial Fists than the entirety of 40k. Bet you didn't even know that the Fists never actually followed the codex. That they remained stubborn against it to the last.
>>44925046 >be serf >spend entire life serving Astartes-bros >have some combat training here and there >rarely ever get to see live combat myself >watch Astartes beat the shit out of each other in training pits >die after a lifetime of service and fathering a few kids who will all do as I have done
They don't have fighters blood in them most of the time.
>>44925033 Just finished Rynns World and the chapter master reministed on the matter. The resulting generation of children were a mixed result, no different than if they would have recruited them from the general population. Plus non of the marines like the idea of people fucking in their monnesary
>>44925813 How else are they going to get more serfs besides kidnapping/advertise/adding new recruits' relatives? Just make the serfs to clean up afterwards and get a Librarian to psychically cock block serfs who should be working.
>>44925813 >people walking around that got picked up
>be me >be civilian in big ass Hive City >have shit dead end job >probably going to do as my ancestors have done on this world >work, eat, sleep, maybe fuck once or twice a year and work until i die >suddenly a fucking ship falls out of the sky >landing ramp slams down >HolyEmperorForgiveMySins.holopeg >The Emperor's Angels of Death disembark >At least i'll have an interesting death >One of them points at me >"YOU, CIVILIAN GET IN THE THUNDERHAWK. WE'RE GOING CRUSADING. GET IN." >I freeze not knowing if this is a dream or if I'm already dead >they grab me and throw me in the ship >I now have a dead end job maintaining the rivets on some machine that I have no idea what it does >I'm now a Chapter Serf for the Blood Ravens
>>44926243 It's a 2nd founding successor. They're exactly the same except they happen to follow the codex, where the Imperial Fists did not. Also they come from a high radiation world, so that probably explains where the lost astartes implants went.
>>44926496 I assumed that was referring to the missing legions. But how does a marine in the modern 40k know what happened to the Fists if the High Lords swept it under the rug? >>44926518 There was a time when a space hulk nearly destroyed the entire chapter. To this day I say it was genestealers, Orks, and Bezerkers living together in peace and harmony until the Blood Angels accidentally boarded the Hulk for the search of loot.
>>44924335 It is, admittedly, very stupid. Terra should be one of the best defended planets in the galaxy, let alone the Segmentum as a whole. The Imperium is never lax - it grinds on a schedule, doing the most ridiculous things even when they're no longer necessary.
>>44926845 People's comments from the first book: >These aren't the Imperial Fists from 40k! They have weird naming schemes and don't follow the codex! Ragaraghah! People's comments from the second book >You're killing off the Imperial Fists and replacing them with a chapter that's exactly what the modern 40k Fists are? No 1st founding chapter was ever destroyed! Ragaraghah!
>>44927676 They also fought on Terra. Wolves got their one chance of being mutation free, RG are the RG, Sallies have the dishonor of having Nick Kyme writing their stories, the Iron Hands' papa is the butt of many head related jokes. That only leaves the Ultras but knowing them they'd bounce back pretty quick.
>>44927736 This is the problem with just using 'hurr durr grimdark' for everything. Instead of new ideas being set up and introduced to fans in a way that let's them warm up to such things, they're just shit out with no warning, rhyme, or reason, then immediately obliterated because TEH DRAMAZ
This is the exact same shit that they did with the Raven Guard chapter master; after all the years of going unknown, they finally gave him a name and a bit of personality, then abruptly murdered him in the tau update and made Shrike the CM because IZ DIZ NOT TEH DRAMAZ?!!?!
This has been BL's growing attitude since the HH series started. Throw in a half-baked idea that might be good given time and development, then immediately put it through the wringer to FOR GRIMDARKNESS. Except nowadays there's no reason to get attached to anything that's getting bulldozed because it's just happening so fucking fast that it doesn't even matter.
>>44927676 You know who it really should have been? The Ultramarines.
Memery aside, they literally have an entire chapter who does absolutely everything they can to be just like the Ultramarines, and help replace their losses in battle. And that's not taking into account all the other successors who usually keep within a pretty common culture.
You could also make the Dark Angels work - I don't know if they've had entire sections of their chapter replaced, but they had the Angels of Vengeance take over as Master of the Ravenwing once - but I don't see their loss being quite the morale issue.
>>44928433 Well then good. Because Maximus Thane was mentioned in the first 40k novel written. There's your connection. Not to mention Drakan Vangorich was mentioned by name as performing The Beheading, an event that many 40k fans had been asking to know more about.
>>44928700 yeah i saw some people mention it but i just thought it was a joke or something taken out of context
i really like the imperial fists but honestly the current 40k fists are cucks for submitting to the will of girlyman and for having flawed geneseed. would be pretty sweet if there were able to turn them back into badasses with these novels but i dont see how they could without it being retarded and cheese
>>44928964 Except that the books already do. The Fists, the original Imperial Fists chapter, never submitted to the codex and never had flawed geneseed. Their successor did and in having their successor become the Imperial Fists, they transition from their 30k to their 40k representation.
>>44929188 Keep in mind that splitting the legion is not the same as following the codex. The Iron Cage was for splitting the legion. But following the codex, having 10 companies of 100 battle brothers with support staff, using pre-defined insignia and titles, that is following the codex, and that is something the Imperial Fists never did.
>>44929161 yeah i understand all that. thats why i said if they could play it right they could save the fists. this is very new and unfinished fluff though so its still possible its just a ruse and the fists didnt really get replaced wholly
the only thing i can think of is if the real fists go form a different chapter because of their reduced numbers and then let the cuck fists take over in their stead (to save face/not let people lose moral knowing that a 1st founding chapter got BTFO, etc.). in that case the real uncucked fists could still be killing aliums all the way into 40k.
but like i said that would be hard to do and probably isnt the case
>>44929336 You're not supposed to. You think they would've killed them off in the first book if you were supposed to have meaningful attachment? You think they would've introduced a chapter that is literally what the modern Imperial Fists are in the 2nd of 12 books if you weren't going to build a connectionto them?
>>44929869 And that is why he has no arms. The Gods aren't smart enough to make arms that can't fall off. On a serious note as long as Abaddon is useful, the Gods will bring Lord Topknot back. If he's really in trouble, he'd probably off himself knowing he'll just come back.
>The Beast has united the MAJORITY of the Ork race under his waaagh! >He's the size of a city block >His waaaagh field is so strong it is mutating Orks into giants, his Nobs are described as elephants and normal boys tower over regular Orks >The collective psychic scream of his waaagh! is driving astropaths and entire planets insane >The Orks have multiple death stars that can destroy planets >The Orks are traveling in what seems to be the Webway >High Lords are doing jackshit and the Beast is already at Terra's door
I can't wait to see what contrived way BL is gonna have him lose cuz they're setting him up to be way too powerful even given his reputation.
>>44907983 I hate Vangorich already. He's overstepping the bounds of his responsibilities and basically becoming exactly what people fear the Grand Master of Assassins will become: Tyrant of the Imperium.
>>44930082 >Terra on the verge of being overrun by The Beast >The Beast himself waltzes into the Imperial palace and is about to smash the door open to the Emperor's throneroom >Cato Sicarius arrives and shoots him in the head >"In the end, it was I, Cato Sicarius, who blah blah blah blah"
>>44926518 Swallow's Blood Angels Tetralogy has the Blood Angels be nearly wiped out thanks to the genetic manipulations of Fabius Bile and Tzeentch exploiting their gene-seed flaw, i.e. the Black Rage and Red Thirst. A conclave of all the Blood Angels Successor chapters is called together to decide what aid can be given to the chapter. Dante wants a portion of initiates and Scouts tithed from the successors to the Blood Angels to rebuild their numbers. Seth of the Flesh Tearers suggests instead that the Blood Angels should disband into the Successors, them being so few. Dante says that no First Founding chapter has ever been wiped from history, but Seth counters that it has.
>>44930070 I'd be angry too >High Lords are de facto run by the fucking Lord High Admiral of the Imperial Navy >Lord Commander of the Imperium is a fat puppet of said Admiral >Master of the Administratum literally ignores what's going on and yells at you for overblowing a threat >Arbites Grand Provost Marshal has replaced his brain with a computer and sits there oblivious to the meeting, monitoring crime stats like an autist >Adeptus Mechanicus knew about the threat beforehand but kept quiet to study shit, and the Fabricator-General is trying to replicate Ork and maybe even Necron tech in some unholy fusion. >Ecclesiarch is a fatass who slaps you for looking at his ring >Two crazy Psykers that sit around and scare everybody because the rich Navigator asshole that they pal around with in some freak triumvirate. >Inquisitorial Representative is sending spies to constantly tail you because hurr durr muh reasons >Speaker for the Chartist Captains is raising transportation fees to doom refugees
High Lords are fucking useless in these books, besides Vangorich.
Just as useless as the fanboys have always speculated they would be
>Book 3: The Emperor Expects That grand armada finally goes to fight the Orks, and that one Admiral, or maybe it's the Assassin, is on the cover.
>Book 4: The Last Wall The Orks actually besiege Terra, and the Iron Warriors are wiped out entirely. Also, the Fist Successor chapters gather in Phall, probably to dissolve what remains of the Fists and divest the Chapter of its assets until the Fists Exemplar take over.
>Book 5: Throneworld Orks still besiege Terra, Eldar show up. More side character stories like in Book 2, showing the Imperium teaming up with "others" to fight the Beast in the areas it's attacking.
>>44930257 I don't doubt it. >>44930284 Alfabusa got them portrayed pretty accurately. Did you know a Fabricator General tried to take the culexus temple and had to be put down? >>44930341 Kitten probably was busy during that moment.
>>44930341 He's not a member of the High Lords here, presumably he will replace the Lord Commander of the Imperium who is still a high lord seat in M32 when the story takes place.
According to Lexicanum, the high lords vangorich are gonna kill will probably be:
>Udin Macht Udo - Lord Commander of the Imperium and Chairman of the Senatorum >Lansung - Lord High Admiral of the Imperial Navy and the most powerful High Lord >Wienand - Inquisitorial Representative >Heth - Lord Commander Militant of the Imperial Guard >Juskina Tull - Speaker for the Chartist Captains Tobris Ekharth - Master of the Administratum >Mesring - Ecclesiarch >Abdulias Anwar - Master of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica >Kubik - Fabricator General of the Adeptus Mechanicus >Helad Gibran - Paternoval Envoy of the Navis Nobilite >Vernor Zeck - Grand Provost Marshal of the Adeptus Arbites >Volquan Sark - Master of the Astronomican
>>44930223 >When Lysander was lost in the warp for a hundred years, at some point he went back into the past >he helps reinforce his chapter at their most crucial hour, and gives up some of his marines so that they can rebuild >when he goes back to his own time, he has knowledge of what the Imperial Fists are really like, which is why he can be such a headstrong dick
>>44930493 He's a naval officer. He probably never had a reason to fire it for about a hundred years. That scar was probably when he forgot to duck underneath a bulkhead. His uniform is so perfect because he can take hours to get it all pretty.
I love that they're giving some attention to the Imperial Navy, but they're still pretty useless.
>>44930540 >He's a naval officer. He probably never had a reason to fire it for about a hundred years. That scar was probably when he forgot to duck underneath a bulkhead. His uniform is so perfect because he can take hours to get it all pretty. What if his ship got boarded?
>>44930638 its the fucking space elves attacking Terra itself. its like the bongs burning down the white house, no matter what americans say they will still be laughed at that they lost to canadian militiamen and had it burnt down by tommy atkins
>>44930598 that and its orks on the march to terra. the fucking npc race is doing more than armless abbadon in destroying the imperium now all we need is timetravelling shenanigans from commander farsight and I will reach peak autism
>>44930733 The whole point of this series is for Imperial standards it's still right after the Heresy (1,500 years) and the CSM aren't really a threat yet as they're still reeling. We get the answer as to what the Orks have been doing since Ullanor before the Heresy: being subjugated and unified under The Beast
>>44930582 Sword. Duh. Do you think he's going to let an enemy get closer to him than the length of a novacannon shot, and not try and use it?
>>44930680 The canadians weren't even involved. It was a few regiments of British redcoats.
The laughable part is the horrible defense - maybe two hundred militiamen, all placed in horrible positions by a politician who wanted to play general, who all up and ran the moment they started getting beat, leaving their capital undefended.
>>44931133 I remember a screencap - I can't find the file without some serious searching - where a guy on /tg/ looked at the High Lords of Terra as being a bunch of scared men, knowing they had the power to destroy planets at the whim of their actions or mistakes, stuck on a sinking ship they didn't know how to steer and being told to keep it afloat. A real sympathetic look that was.
Point is, it could've been a lot better, and I don't give a damn that it could've been worse.
>>44931173 yeah, I was referring to the invasion of canada itself. >>44931364 yeah, your average inquisitor or Space marine captain will sleep soundly at night because of their conditioning or fanaticism, but those guys know the truth behind it all. its kinda like those kids who buy shiny new phones while mom and dad know that their financial situation is not tenable.
>>44934649 His death happened after the 1st Black Crusade (781.M31), but of course 7th Edition decided that his remains were never found.
That other anon is full of bullshit. The Scouring has long been over (it started sometime around 15.M31). Abaddon reared his ugly head again in the 1st Black Crusade. The Beast is rising up in 544.M32 - the 2nd Black Crusade only comes about 30 years later. Chaos is a legitimate threat. The problem seems to be that for some reason the rest of the Imperium has forgotten that they're not safe somehow, especially the Segmentum Solar.
>>44935363 The Imperium hasn't forgotten, only the High Lords. There's even a while section where they talk about Hrud and other species taking down planets and subsectors, to which their response is, "Oh well... sucks."
>>44938862 I did too, but I feel that was a combination of it being a new era that we didn't have a lot of information on, and that it was intended as a start to a series. It's no Horus Rising, but it does the job.
