>>44889480 The anime is so full of filler that it's basically unwatchable. There is a full like 50 episodes straight of filler at the end of the first series, and the second stops for filler literally in the middle of huge battles.
I do think that Naruto really redeemed himself through character growth in the second series, though. Shame I'll never finish it because when I was getting into it they broke for six straight months of boring filler that I refuse to watch.
In the long run, though she had to deal with the fact that the bad girl already had her way with him and he was a single dad because of it, by the time she won. Also another time the best girl didn't win directly, but got his son as a weird shota consolation prize.
And then the time best girl won but he died before seeing their child born. Much juicier I think is the fate of best guy.
>>44891968 Who in the hell plans this shit out so thoroughly? There are so many instances where this spider web of bullshit would've fallen apart by it's own complex stupidity that it's amazing it even worked at all. I bet it all really was just chance and he wants to take credit for it anyway.
>>44891824 A shame if there isn't I would pay money to see all of Naruto redrawn in its entirety to feature WWE Superstars in the roles of the original characters Same story but wrestlers instead of ninjas
>>44892194 It wasn't planned out thuroughly: the plan was "entwine the Hyuuga and Uzumaki bloodlines". Each and every thing done wasn't about sticking to a masterful plan, it was rolling with the punches and planning around changing circumstances to get to the desired outcome.
>>44889411 Can't think of a single campaign I've been in with a character that qualified as "best girl", and what would even be her win condition? Surviving the campaign, surviving and leading a happy life, marrying a PC, marrying MY PC, accomplishing her goals?
I'll tell a truncated version of the only harem (well, a reverse harem) I ever experienced in a campaign. The campaign was a big political drama full of courtly intrigue and dramatic duels. My character was a noblewoman trained as an assassin to serve her noble house. Her sub-plot included three suitors - a charming fellow assassin who turned out to be the son of the grandmaster of the house, a bookish and sweet wizard from an allied house, and a tsundere rival assassin from an enemy house. I was angling for the grandmaster's son for a number of reasons, but the campaign conspired to render the tsundere rival character a better political marriage.
Remember when Nardo was good? AKA everything up to and including the Chunin exam? When it was about a retard with infinite mana hax, the smart girl who actually knew what the fuck she was doing but needed confidence and experience, and the talented guy who needed to learn to work as part of a fucking team to stop being such a douche?
Remember when it was a combination of wacky child ninja Hijinks and 'oh fuck I forgot these are children being raised to be magic soldiers and assassins and they murder/get murdered regularly'?
Honestly, I think the original plan was to end it at the battle at the waterfall, but the thing was making too much money and they badgered the Kishimoto into doing a timeskip. I think the idea was he'd finish that fight with Naruto winning or maybe even killing Sasuke and dragging his ass back, having some kind of epilogue involving Orochimaru getting his, and then the sidestory of how Kakashi got his Sharingan.
You can tell he wasn't giving a fuck afterwards as well, look how fucking workmanlike the art got after the Kakashi Gaiden. It's like he's doing little more than rough sketches and having his assistants do 90% of the work.
>>44894811 naruto was fun as long as it was grim with some funnys inbetween and did not have such a powercreep. The moment sharingan got introduced it all went to shit. Suddenly a dude with a undeveloped special eye could go toe to toe with a jinjuriki (or how the fuck you spell it) who fucked up A leveled ninjas shit in his free time. Kicking sharingan to bakugan level, more grimdarkness, more cherecter development that is not "gained X xp leveled up" and makeing the ninjas more army like would bring me back to naruto within seconds, but atm. 90% is shit, 5% was kind of shit and 5% was good
>>44889909 It seems like Naruto couldn't decide whether it wanted to defy the shonen cliches or live up to them. On the one hand, the first girl doesn't win, and it's acknowledged in that sense that people grow and change and it's good to meet new friends and re-evaluate old ones based on who they are now rather than looking at them through nostalgia goggles. But on the other hand, the whole thing with Sasuke is the complete opposite of that. I was kind of hoping that Naruto's idiotic, blind attachment to this kid he was kind of friends with once in middle school would be his tragic flaw, and that it would ruin everything. But nope, Sasuke gets a pass on every douchey thing he ever did just because a main character likes him, and there are no negative consequences of this corruption and cronyism whatsoever.
>>44889765 >>Drawing Mileena to be cute or attractive in the facial area
That's entirely missing the fucking point. I fucking hate it when lonely, sexually-deprived morons do this sort of thing. She's not "a killing machine with a sensitive side". You'll never "conquer" her. She'd rather rip your throat out with her teeth than sleep with you.
Oh and top of it all, she's not fucking real.
Actually screw it all. if you have a waifu you should be thrown into a volcano.
>>44895860 That's how she looks in MKX. They have her human lips for some reason. I guess because women in Mortal Kombat have always kind of looked like cheesy strippers. I mean, there's one woman in the new game with stripper heels built into her feet.
>>44892031 It was hinted at in a side-story that was supposed to teach readers that blood isn't what matters when you're talking about family. What matters is who loves you, who's there for you. Sakura raised Sarada by herself, which I guess means Sasuke isn't really her father? which means whether or not she gave birth to her, Sakura is Sarada's mother. In the end, Sarada is left in this weird limbo of no one actually telling her the truth and everybody being super shady for literally no reason because there's literally nothing to be ashamed of - Sasuke and his squad were on a mission, Sakura tagged along, they fucked, mission took a real long time, gave birth to Sarada at one of Orochimaru's outposts because there wasn't time to get to a hospital, Karin was midwife. That's it. All that secrecy and misdirection for nothing. Of course, we find that out at the end, meaning that Kishi's whole "blood doesn't matter" thing falls 2D-flat, because they're blood after all. It's like the princess loving the pauper despite his lowborn status, but it turns out he's really a long-lost prince so it's okay
On the one hand, it teaches that in order for war to end, you have to choose for it to end, it won't just happen. If Senju and Uchiha are going to stop fighting, they're going to have to choose peace over war. To solve things with violence would mean that not only nothing has changed, but that the message is wrong and war really is the answer.
On the other hand, everything was pointing toward a final battle with Naruto and Sasuke, based on more than just "I want to fight you", but a real clash of ideals, principles and goals. And it's what would happen in any shonen action manga.
>>44895810 I actually kind of expected that in the end their obsession with each other turned out to be actual gay love that they were denying to themselves. Heck, after the final battle if it wasn't for them losing their arms they'd be holding hands.
>>44894720 >>44894811 It needed more missions. Like real missions where Naruto and co wrestle with having to do bad shit for people they hate because they're getting paid, and the three of them create a real concrete bond. I never felt that Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura were ever really friends in a mutual sense. Also, I would have given them some other jonin teacher. Hell, promote Iruka to jonin, give him some cool techniques and have him be a real presence in the series. Have Kakashi be this near-mythical figure shrouded in rumor (at least as regards the students - "He's got a genin squad now? But he never takes students! Never! I wonder what's changed..."). In part 1 of the Chunin Exam, have Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura introduced to Kakashi's squad instead of Guy's as the rookie-but-still-way-more-experienced (hell, give Guy to Naruto Sasuke and Sakura, teach Naruto the Lotus because that's a main-character-power). In part 2, we get to see them in action. In the prelims, we meet Kakashi for the first time. When part 3 gets interrupted by the invasion, we see Kakashi in action and HOLY SHIT HE'S AMAZING AND NOT A JOBBER
>>44896069 Violence only fails to solve things when it isn't thorough enough. If one side can exterminate the other, that's the end of the debate at hand. Paradoxically, hostilities only continue if someone tries to end them prematurely.
>>44894918 Man it would be rather neat to see the medieval versions of their world, would rather be neat to see. Hell take the same characters and throw them at a new conteniant. Isn't there some story about aplace that doesn't even use chakra?
>>44896069 Imagine the story from the point of view of anyone other than Naruto. Sasuke just gets excused of very real crimes for personal, emotional reasons rather than ethical ones. Once you make peace, that's when the war crimes tribunals should start.
>>44896206 And he still never told him. So many people knew, and nobody ever told Naruto who his parents were. Jiraiya and Tsunade knew - hell, Tsunade is Hashirama's granddaughter, Narutos' mother is related to Hashirama's wife (same clan, also Kurama's hosts). She's his aunt. They're actual legal family, she might be his legal guardian at the start of the series. Hiruzen, Danzo and the counselors knew. All the adult ninjas who were already ninjas when Minato died knew, because he fucking told them. "Them" means "every named Leaf jonin in the series". Basically the only named adults in the village that we don't know if they for sure knew are Iruka and the fucking ramen guy.
>>44896153 When something is your primary hobby, you usually care more than you need and know less than you think, which invariably lowers the discussion quality as people get too caught up in their own baggage to care about good discourse.

>>44896348 I started watching Naruto in '99. The target demographic when it started are now in their 20s.
>>44896380 I thought it was supposed to be something of a secret, so Iwa wouldn't try to kill him first chance they got. And if they had told Naruto at the beginning of the series he would have never been able to keep his mouth shut about it.
>>44896599 >And if they had told Naruto at the beginning of the series he would have never been able to keep his mouth shut about it. They could have told him at any point afterwards, instead of him finding out from the ghost of King Hamlet >so Iwa wouldn't try to kill him first chance they got. Why would they? They're not Kumo
>>44896599 >I started watching Naruto in '99. The target demographic when it started are now in their 20s. The demographic hasn't changed, most people who read it now are still young, because those who started reading it in '99 graduated from Naruto. One Piece is different from Naruto in that no age group really seems to graduate from it. >>44896611 Kingdom and Drifters are seinen? >>44896911 >shonen >8 to 18 >under 18 And I'm sure you can prove that everybody ITT discussing Naruto is underage b& >>44896921 Also worth mentioning that Kabuto is now running an orphanage for the cloned Uchiha.

So, did Naruto ever develop any kind of actual leadership skills? Or any skills at all? Or does he just stay an obnoxious piece of shit whose friends are all inexplicably and brainlessly "inspired" by him?
>>44896944 >>44896952 I never said shounen is bad, I said Naruto is bad. I never said those who read Naruto are under 18, I said the majority of those who read Naruto are under 18. Someone said it matters that those who read Naruto when it started are over 20 now, I said it doesn't matter because the majority of those who started reading it when it started are no longer reading it, and offered One Piece as an example of a manga where those who began reading long ago are still reading, despite no shift in the target demographic. And no, talking about Naruto is not just like talking about anything else. Naruto is garbage for underageb&. There may not be any real difference between Tic-Tac-Toe and chess, but we don't have Tic-Tac-Toe threads. Same way I'm arguing against talking about Naruto.
>>44897029 >There's the very interesting dynamic in his relationship with his son in that he can't be with him as much as he should(leaving the kid in some ways a lot like he was). >Also, it's hilarious that their kid ended up an entitled little shit. Nice unfounded claims. Also, I love how you give One Piece as evidence, since it's for the same demographic but is far more childish than Naruto ever was.
>>44897093 That's why it's hilarious. Naruto and Hinata, two of the least entitled characters in the entire series, managed to have a kid who figures he's god's gift to ninjas. And is an absolute asshole about it.
>>44897218 At the end of the Pain arc, Nagato brings everybody who died in the attack back the same way that Granny Chiyo did, except he's an Uzumaki and therefore has an absurdly long lifespan and can therefore revive thousands of people, instead of just one person. All the Akatsuki are dead though, as are anyone who had been brought back as superzombies by Kabuto (which isn't really being brought back because they were'n't going around living their lives, they were just used as elite soldiers). Also Neji and Jiraiya are still very dead.
>>44897487 What matters is that while Luffy cares about Ace, there's no real reason for either us to care about Ace, or to care about Luffy caring about Ace. With Whitebeard, it's even worse, because we could have found out about how Whitebeard treats his men way back when Ace was introduced, but we didn't. We had no knowledge of him at all, despite him being the most powerful non-warlord pirate at the time.
>>44897507 I'm not really looking to get into an OP discussion, but I don't think it really matters whether one thinks it should matter whether Ace died or not. It did to a lot of people, and I don't see any point in telling them they're wrong.

He basically just walked into the woods one day almost immediately after Sakura got pregnant and never came back. He literally didn't know what his kid even looked like until she went looking for him years later.
Even on the father/daughter road trip, Naruto STILL acts as a better parental figure for Sasuke's daughter than Sasuke does, and Sasuke immediately ditches her again as the miniseries ends. Like Sakura, she has resigned herself to his inexplicable need to go get high in the woods rather than be part of their life.
The funny thing is that in the series Madara acted like it was all his plan things ended up where they did when it was objectively pure dumb fucking luck he ever came back at all. His plan failed at every turn and he succeeded ANYWAY because of a series of extremely unlikely coincidences.
Sasuke nearly fucked everything up for everyone because he wanted to keep making up excuses to fight on, and he was rewarded for this with getting his arm back after Naruto had to blow it off to make him stop trying to kill him for stupid reasons.
Might Guy, savior of humanity, gets to be crippled for the rest of his life because they used up all the bullshit healing cells on Sasuke and Naruto.
The ultimate moral of the story appears to be "actions don't have consequences if you know the right people."
Orochimaru, despite still being a completely unrepentant mass-murdering psychopath who lives by horribly killing other people every couple of years, is allowed to go free at the end of the series because reasons? Like, Naruto knows exactly where he is, and could crush him like a bug, but for some reason leaves him alone.
>>44897138 Yep, at least in the Barbarian's eyes. Managed to rescue a little girl from anti-magic moon worshiping nutjobs. Unfortunately, couldn't save her brother or parents from the fire. >>44899684 Well, part of it is pic related. Remember the Uchiha clan's "Curse of Hatred"? Well it's less a philosophical concept and more of a hereditary mental disorder. Uchiha are mentally incapable of processing feelings of grief and loss, so when they bottle up those feelings and keep them fresh and hot. Brain relieves tension by funneling a ton of chakra into the eyes and creating the Sharingan. The worse the loss, the greater the power. I hate to sound like a SJW but the disney movies without at least a little bullshit that does have a binary relationship (if that's the right term) in it somewhere is How To Train Your Dragon, The Croods, Peter Pan, and Frozen.
Eh, more specifically, Belle didn't want to be married to GASTON or live in a provincial town where people thought she was weird because she liked to read. As near as I could tell, she wanted to travel and have an interesting life.
She had a very interesting time when it turns out monsters and curses exist, and at the end of it she's married to a dude who, unlike most of her neighbors, actually took the time to get to know her, and probably has a fair bit of disposable income and would be open to the idea of spending some time away from the castle he's been trapped in for ten years as a horrible beast.
Al doesn't technically have any sort of royal ties, or even an inheritance. The king of thieves is literally any thief that can take charge of the forty thieves, his dad is a penniless schmuck like him that happened to take over from the game's last leader.
Brave actually ended without the girl getting married. Turns out her three suitors weren't wild about the idea either and the matter was tabled for later.
>>44900385 >Alladin is the prince of thieves' son. He's not actual royalty. They just called Kasim the King of Thieves because he was really good at it and he had an organization of thieves under him. His underlings joked that Aladdin was the Prince of Thieves. >Belle didn't want to be weighted down by a man. Until she did. No, she just didn't like Gaston. What was weighing her down was being a peasant in some random village. "There must be more than this provincial life!" She thought she was cooped up until she met an actual hikkikomori. Now that she's royalty, she can do things like see the world like she said she wanted to do. >I imagine the same happened in Brave (never watched it). Never watched it either, but I'm not making the assumption that it did. >Ariel's human crush happened to be a prince. Little Mermaid was never a question of social class, it was about xenophobia. There was also never a question of him NOT being a prince. The bullshit I had mentioned was when there's this message that love transcends class conflicts, but at the end the class conflict is not solved through love but through genealogical research that shows that there wasn't any conflict to begin with, both members of the couple are on the same social stratum after all.
>>44900385 >I imagine the same happened in Brave I love how you automatically assume something is bad before even giving it the time of day.
Brave was all about how while you need to love and respect your elders, you also shouldn't blindly follow traditions for the sake of tradition. More importantly, it was probably the most "gender equal" kids movie I've ever seen, seeing how at the end it revealed that all the "princes" who were competing for her hand in marriage wanted nothing to do with her or this stupid arranged marriage either. In fact, most of them found the MC abrasive and full of herself for thinking everyone wanted her tomboy ass.
So yeah, you do sound a lot like an ignorant SJW right about now when you talk out your ass like that, well, the whole goddamn post, really
>Sasuke and Orochimaru being treated like they never did anything wrong because they know the right people, and this being portrayed as a good thing
Is it a Japanese culture thing? Maybe cronyism is seen in a more sympathetic light in Japan than it is in America. I've also heard that childhood friends are so disproportionately important in anime because it's hard for Japanese adults to meet new people for friendship or romance, so you'd better get along with the people you knew in grade school, even if they turn into murderous assholes.
>>44900738 You also have to remember that Japanese schools aren't like American schools. In America, you move from classroom to classroom, not everyone takes the same subjects, so you meet a wide variety of people from around the school. In Japan, each section of a grade stays in a single classroom, teachers move from class to class, you spend all day in the same seat with all the same people in the same positions so you better get used to those fuckers
