You are Sonia Reynard, Baron of Rioja. One small world among many in the House of Jerik-Dremine. From it you control the fates of a dozen others in the so called Smuggler's Run. With your new position you have the opportunity to become one of the most influential people in your House.

It is from this world that you will draw your future fleets and armies from. It is becoming increasingly clear to everyone that those armies are needed now.

While you are still a General in the Factions Alliance Fleet, you remain on reserve status due to the civil war. It's doubtful you'll be able to assist them with the war against the Neeran for some time.

As the Dominion begins to slip deeper into civil war you and those under your command have been fighting to protect your little corner of known space. Now with the arrival of additional allies you've gone on the offensive in an effort to drive House Nasidum out of the DRH1 Relay.

Knight Captain Katherine Drake is your fleet's Wing Commander. She's been working hard these past months to make sure your attack wings are fully trained and manned. With as much experience in the field as you there are few better to rely on.

Uyi Rna is the General of your Army. Troops and armored vehicles are readied aboard their Assault Transports ready to assault any planet you choose. 100,000 troops can be landed in a single drop. More are ready to be brought in from Rioja within hours.

Wiremu Tama is the admiral of your Fleet. With the possibility of having to face House Nasidum soon he's been making sure the starfighter forces are prepared to assist or repel planetary assaults. They'll be needed soon.

For house and dominion!
incidentally, how are we paying the warlord mercs?
if its in Aries production licenses I will laugh.
>>
>>44687770
For nav relay and salvage!

>>44687871
Yeah, once open hostilities in our relay have ceased, we really need to check our finances.
>>
>>44687770
For House and Dominion early-in-the-day-edition-for-some!

>>44687871
Well we will have a bunch salvage of lesser good ships we can give them. Old style Corvettes are still worth at lest like 2 millions or so. Maybe not as much damaged. And if it comes down to it then we got other salvage we can give them. Perhaps even some Assault Corvettes since we produce those.
>>
Your ground attack craft have been reinforced with squadrons of Burlock Heavy Fighters to better support planetary assaults. With its larger weapon mounts the pilots certainly won't lack for options when it comes to alternate ground attack stores.

Fadila Saqqaf is your leading diplomatic adviser. Assigned by the Earl after your request for a team more experienced in the intricacies of inter-house relations, she's been a welcome addition. She and her team have done considerable work in cementing the position of the Run Alliance in the relay.
With those allies you've been able to rally a fleet large enough to help challenge House Nasidum and hopefully end their attacks.

Your fleet, including the Super Heavy Cruiser Forbearance, have entered the Magdalena system in pursuit of the Nasidum main fleet and their heavy cruiser.

You give the order to engage at long range, the more powerful guns on Forbearance and your Mediums should give you an advantage at that distance and let you control how the engagement shapes up. The only downside is that this could take some time, but with Warlord Mercenaries inbound time will only help you.

Starfighters from the planet's surface have entered orbit while more are still launching. Do you want your own fighters to intercept them before they can get within range of your capital ships? Or would you rather move up some of your point defense equipped starships?
Something else?
>>
>>44688043
Send in Intercepting Fighteres to meet the approaching enemy Fighters and skirmish with them. Set up Point defense ships in a second line close to the fleet in case some slip by with Fighters to support them as well.

Just keep hammering the enemy. Also send a wing of Corvettes to support the Mixed unit up to the left that is raiding.
>>
>>44688036
I would guess assault corvettes aren't that desirable for them because they're really shitty at multitasking, and mercs will likely have to deal with a wide variety of non-combat task, which assault corvettes suck at. We have several perfectly viable frigate types in production, and older AC/BCs as well. I'm sure we'll be able to find something for them

>>44688043
>Or would you rather move up some of your point defense equipped starships?
Both?

>Something else?
Can the warlord ships jump in at a point that won't put the planet in line of their scrap cannon shots?

>Something completely different
A couple of threads ago I asked if we can have the dusk ac modified but only came up with putting LD plasma cannons or a cloak on it.

I've reread some stuff on suptg, and now I'm curious if we can make the hull wider, longer, then throw some more engines on it, and then jam a spinal medium plasma cannon in. Just like we did with the ac the great devourer is based on.
>>
>>44688043
Have the heavy guns target the sole remaining medium first. It should already be damaged anyway and will fall faster than the heavy.
How big a merc fleet did we hire incidentally?
>>
>>44688135
>I've reread some stuff on suptg, and now I'm curious if we can make the hull wider, longer, then throw some more engines on it, and then jam a spinal medium plasma cannon in. Just like we did with the ac the great devourer is based on.
no.
>>
>>44688180
o-okay...
>>
>>44688157
Personally I say we should target the Carriers first and foremost. They carry munitions for the enemy Fighters and since we are not going to approach until we get reinforced they are going to do the main fighting. Take out the enemy Carriers and they lose critical battle logistics.

Also I would like to enjoy to capture that Medium somewhat intact and not slagged into a lump of molten metal.

Also perhaps we could also send two of the AB squadrons to strife the lone station? Don't want enemy forces to regroup there with damaged wing and the more forces we take away from their main fleet the more vulnerable their Heavy becomes.
>>
>>44688043
>Something else?
Send one of the slightly damaged wings on the left side to mirco jump to the mixed wing already engaged near the station. For support.
>>
>>44688234
>Personally I say we should target the Carriers first and foremost. They carry munitions for the enemy Fighters and since we are not going to approach until we get reinforced they are going to do the main fighting. Take out the enemy Carriers and they lose critical battle logistics.
Problem is that they can rearm from other stations and ground bases anyway, and we don't have a clear shot at that carrier anyway.
>>44688223
Medium plasma canons are battleship mounts usually. The GD is the only battlecruiser that carries one.
>>
>>44687871
>incidentally, how are we paying the warlord mercs?
It was to be largely in salvage, materials and production equipment to be taken from House Bonrah. It was based on the assumption you'd be fighting House Bonrah by now.

>>44688084
>Send in Intercepting Fighteres to meet the approaching enemy Fighters and skirmish with them. Set up Point defense ships in a second line close to the fleet in case some slip by with Fighters to support them as well.
Like this?

>>44688135
>Both?
ok.
>Can the warlord ships jump in at a point that won't put the planet in line of their scrap cannon shots?
On the flank? Sure.

>Dusk mod [...] make the hull wider, longer, then throw some more engines on it, and then jam a spinal medium plasma cannon in. Just like we did with the ac the great devourer is based on.
At that point you'll be designing a new Battlecruiser with as many parts as possible from the Dusk class. Its performance will not be near that of an attack cruiser.
It could probably be designed in a year or more since they don't have an existing battlecruiser scale hull to go off of like the Devourer did. Thats assuming the Dusk redesign team were the ones working on it.

The evacuated Shallan design team has been moved to one of the Republic Relays for protection from the civil war. They lack experience with the existing Shallan battlecruiser design, having been specialized in attack cruisers.

>>44688157
The Warlords generally operate their super heavies in pairs so that they can tow the other out if one takes damage. He was supposed to have sent two plus their escort.

>>44688234
>>44688255
1 assault wing to assist Mixed raider wing.
1-2 afterburner squadrons strafe other station
Sound good?
>>
>>44688366
>It could probably be designed in a year or more since they don't have an existing battlecruiser scale hull to go off of like the Devourer did.
Thanks, I guess I'll have to come up with some AC sized instead.

>Sound good?
I'm not really sure if raiding the remaining station is worth it, as we'll need it once the planet has fallen. If they can limit the damage mostly to the turrets, I'd be okay with it.

>It was based on the assumption you'd be fighting House Bonrah by now.
Is the fighting in the sectors around winifred's planet still going on?
>>
>>44688234
Forbearance siege weapon targeting priority. Which ones do you want to focus on to start off with? Splitting your focus will increase the time it takes to batter down the shields on some targets.

From largest to smallest:

Planet
Station(s)
Heavy Cruiser
Medium Cruiser
Transports
Battleships
Carriers
Smaller (reduced chance to hit)
>>
>>44688514
>Heavy Cruiser
>Medium Cruiser
>Battleships

If the enemy doesn't suddenly start closing in:

Just the main four. The everything else is if we somehow destroy or disable the big threats ith few casualties.
>>
>>44688659
>Focus down each of those in turn until they're dead?
Yeah, it should be a rough priority list. Our commanders are skilled enough to take care of targets of opportunity or switch prioritites when it's necessary.

>>44688550
>>44688556

Can we get a tie breaker anyone?

"Begin long range bombardment, but mind the planetary shields. Coms, broadcast a request for their surrender. If they're willing to discuss terms we'll at least listen.
Contact our inbound mercenaries, I want them jumping in where they can flank the main Nasidum fleet and not have to worry about hitting the planet with their siege weapons."

"Aye sir!"

As the fleet opens fire from range you have Tama deploy an interceptor screen ahead of the fleet to keep bombers from getting within torpedo range. A second line consisting of point defense equipped starships will help support them.

One of the afterburner units and an assault wing each micro jump out to harass the other stations and help allies. Witht he arrival of another wing to assist the mixed unit turns back to face their adversaries, who retreat towards the station they'd launched from.

The afterburner squadron performs a quick hit and run, doing minimal damage but forcing the station to deploy its defenses, mostly starfighters.

As your fleet focuses their fire on the Carrier it makes a run for the cover of the station, just barely evading the larger shots from Forbearance. It takes cover behind the Heavy Cruiser long enough for its shields to recharge then continues its run. It's badly damaged from heavy phase cannon fire by the time it reaches safety but isn't dead yet.

The Nasidum fleet shifts towards the station to make use of its shields as the Battleships come under fire. ECM is making accurate torpedo strikes difficult but not impossible. Battleships are dying but slowly.

"They're turning turtle." Tama warns. "Recommend reserving torpedoes for volleys against the larger ships until we have ECCM resources or fighters in closer to guide them to their targets."
>>
Additional enemy ships have begun to arrive, the first of which is the patrol group that had previously been making runs along the main trade lane. They're running for the main station but they could turn suddenly towards your second point defense line.

"Report from the Ruling House. Nasidum ships are breaking off fighting on the front lines and headed here. Friendly units are pursuing them."

Your allies should be arriving around the same time as the rest.

Do you want to do anything about the recently arrived enemy patrol unit on your right flank?
>>
>>44690131
Hit them with a fighter volley. Shift the heavy guns to target the remaining medium.
>>
>>44690103
>Do you want to do anything about the recently arrived enemy patrol unit on your right flank?
Send 2 AB squads, and the 3x elite wings + any of the BCR/BB squads on that side to intercept if they're fast enough.

Make sure they're keeping an eye on the attack starfighters.

>CV
>time it reaches safety but isn't dead yet.
That's okay a damaged CV that can't resupply the fighters is as good as a dead one. Probably even better because the repair bill will be less severe.
>>
>>44690255
>That's okay a damaged CV that can't resupply the fighters is as good as a dead one
They can still use all of the stations
>>
>>44690366
And the planet.
It's mostly about reducing their capacities to swiftly replace losses, rearm, or refuel.

>>44690103
>the Carrier
>singular carrier
Is it a Talos?

>Mass driver turrets on the station
How do these compare to phase or plasma cannons?
>>
>>44690131
Hit them hard.
3 BC squadrons.
1 Medium
2 Wings
1 AB squadron

We need to take them out hard to preserve our temporary advantage.
>>
>>44690428
>Is it a Talos?
That would be a heavy carrier. probably just a bog standard dominion carrier
>>44690223
I agree with the revised targeting priority. Mediums and up are the only ones who have the sort of long range guns for this sort of duel, so taking out their medium is smart tactics.
>>
>>44690223
Shifting our fighters around at this point doesn't seem particularly smart.
>>
>>44690428
>Is it a Talos?
No, a Talos heavy carrier is the size of a heavy cruiser and thus all of your weapons fire would have been able to hit it. It would not have have been able to evade using trajectory analysis.

>Mass driver turrets on the station
>How do these compare to phase or plasma cannons?
Inferior in almost every way but a problem if you lose shields. Right now they're targeting the Forbearance. They could lob torpedo warheads which could be a problem.

>>44690223
>Hit them with a fighter volley.
You do still have your bombers which haven't launched so its certainly doable.

>>44690255
>2 AB squads, and the 3x elite wings + any of the BCR/BB squads on that side to intercep

>>44690504
>Hit them hard.
>3 BC squadrons.
>1 Medium
>2 Wings
>1 AB squadron

These two seem to be largely in agreement except for the Medium. A force will break off from the right flank and engage the patrol unit. Is this ok?
>>
>>44690844
Yes. Is the RH providing us with data on the incoming Nasidum forces? Their ETA? Strength? Composition?
>>
>>44690844
>These two seem to be largely in agreement except for the Medium. A force will break off from the right flank and engage the patrol unit. Is this ok?
Okay. And hammer the medium to chew down the long range fire.
>>
>>44690844
It is okay.

I wonder if Nasidum will try to move on us now. If they did then that would be great. We could pull back towards the enemy patrol and pull their fleet entirely out of it's safer position and make it all that more squishy for when the SRL forces arrive.

>>44690888
I agree on switching to the Medium now that the Carrier is next to crippled.
>>
>>44690874
>Their ETA?
ETA is minutes or less depending on how far they need to travel.
>Strength? Composition?
Both sides are heavy on attack corvettes with some Knight class thrown in. At least 7 attack wings are known to be inbound. That number could be much higher.

Ruling House pursuit forces are moving to reinforce your position with 2 Medium cruisers.
>>
>>44691407
Thank you. In that case we should probably cover the rear of our fleet a bit more. It would be very annoying to have 7 ACRVs jump in directly to the unprotected rear of our carriers.
>>

"Shift bombardment, try to take down that Medium cruiser before it can reach the station."

The larger Nasidum ships and the station are focusing all of their fire on Forbearance now. The upgraded shields are helping quite a bit but in time they'll need to switch to secondaries.

Your Warlord and Ber'helum designed interceptors have a significant advantage in terms of firepower against the stock Z5's being fielded by the enemy squadrons. They're having a more difficult time against bombers carrying missiles in place of their torpedoes, able to launch far more warheads.

Tama informs you he's pulling the fighters back to the second line for more support.

Drake sends two of the better rated assault wings along with Battlecruiser and battleship support. Two afterburner squadrons back them up. It will take some time to intercept but they'll get it done.

Fire begins to eat away at shields and armor of the remaining Medium. It looks like they're trying to reach a repair dock on the other side of the station. Suddenly a display for fleet damage lights up as the shields on Forbearance begin taking much more damage.

"What's going on with Forbearance?"

"It looks as though we're taking siege cannon fire." replies Tama.

Sensors highlights the enemy formation and magnifies the Jupiter transport. They've unloaded their forward holds exposing emitter arrays for 5 phase cannon based siege weapons. Much smaller and lower powered than those used by Helios ships, what they lack in punch they make up for in rate of fire.

"I thought only Terrans had those kind of weapon mods on the Jupiter?"

"Obviously someone must have found their specs." the Admiral replies matter-of-factly.

Your ship shakes from an impact and one of the assault corvettes protecting Forbearance has its port side explode from a hit.

"The smaller ships can't withstand that sort of firepower."

"Orders sir?" asks Drake.

Focus all fire on the Jupiter class. It's too much competition for us to allow it to remain in the field.

Redeploy the AB units and cloaked units to run a SP run on the Jupiter.

Deploy Bomber squadrons and begin moving the battle lines forward. It's time we started to lay the pain on them and began the REAL attack
>>
>>44692099
>>44692294
Wouldn't that pretty much be a suicide mission for our cloaked ships?
>>
>>44692094
>Are any of the units present trained to form shield walls?
Everyone gets some basic training with it in order to work with Republic units. Battlecruiser and Battleship crews get more training as they're expected to work more with light cruisers.

>>44692099
>Cloaked ships, make an SP run on the Jupiter.
Do you want to use the cloaked Battleships or silent hunters? You have 2 of each.

Drake warns that this may leave the flank unit under strength while they deal with the enemy patrol group.

Silent hunters, they can remain cloaked after shooting. Also, aim for the basically unarmored weapons

>Do you want to use the cloaked Battleships or silent hunters? You have 2 of each.
Silent Hunters. They are the better stealth ships after all.

>Drake warns that this may leave the flank unit under strength while they deal with the enemy patrol group.
I suppose we should not move them then.

>>44692334
Well we will have to hope they know what they are doing and pray they don't get detected. Just need a few SP hits to disable the Jupiters main gun for a few moments.

>Silent hunters, they can remain cloaked after shooting.

We probably didn't get the fancy version.

>>44692344

I'm against that unless their crews are sure they can survive the run.

>Shield wall
Have the remaining BB/BCR units take turns forming shield walls. Use the medium cruisers (and assault corvettes if really necessary) to provide additional cover.
>>
>>44692408
>Silent hunters, they can remain cloaked after shooting.
No they cant. Only models equipped with their advanced cloak are capable of this. You have a pair of normal silent hunters with normal Rovinar cloaking shields.
>>
Much as I like the idea of backstabbing the siege gun with hunters I don't feel that the damage they can cause is worth the risk of losing them.

I doubt that. We have a deal going with the Terrans to supply Lance class cruisers to Houses the Terrans want to win, which were those in favor of actively supporting the FA.

You have any corvettes in the line of fire go evasive while the battleships prepare to form shield walls if needed. All information about the Jupiter is sent to your allies still on the way here.

The battle on the right flank breaks down into confusion as the enemy force launches SP Torpedoes and your wing commanders respond in kind, though in smaller numbers.

Daska takes a wing and heads for the inbound medium cruisers on the left flank while another moves to assist Ruling House ships aft.
Your own raiders and their escort are pulled back, micro jumping to out then around to help another unit on the left flank.

With things heating up it might be best to close the distance and push through the fighter opposition. Forbearance maneuvers then accelerates towards the station, the course change reducing the number of phase cannons you can bring to bear, but giving the enemy a smaller target. It's less of an issue for your torpedo batteries as they fire out above and below the hull of the ship before changing course.

With the shift in the battle your command ship is beginning to take a bit more fire. For now it looks like you'll be ok.

"Forbearance, deploying point defense."

Enemy fighters are close enough now that the Super has deployed its mix of particle beam and mass drivers turrets. Needle thin beams lance out towards approaching fighters, while the mass drivers wait to target any torpedoes. Particle beams on your own ship begin to add their fire seconds later as enemy fighters attempt to cut around the flanks of your screen.

Some launch torpedoes at maximum range. Few seem to be SP's, but those that are target the maneuvering engines of Forbearance.

"Two drone carriers just jumped in at the edge of the planet's gravity well. They're still too far out to have an immedate impact but we should keep an eye on them." Tama warns.

That's going to be an annoyance, but one you can deal with in time.

New contacts jump in on the left flank closer to the planet, two warlord super heavies accompanied by 6 Sledge class mediums.

The IFF on the lead super seems strangely familiar.

"So you do. I suppose its their fault for not asking a mercenary fleet precisely what kind of unfinished business you had."

The Pirate's expression goes from a predatory grin to a crestfallen disappointment in the space of seconds.

Sighing he removes the eyepatch and tosses it aside.

"Kill all the fun why don't you.
Change the IFF!" he shouts to someone off screen.

The ID on the South Reach flagship switches to that of the Sam Bellamy.

"We worked really hard on that, or we wouldn't have been here on time. It was the most convenient method of getting through Bonrah space unopposed."

"Well you did have excellent timing! I was beginning to worry this fight might actually become bothersome. Would you kindly bring an end to that siege gun that seems all too happy to poke at my Super and slag that station they got there?

We're beginning our advance and I hope to catch them in a pincer with your fleet and bring an end to House Nasidums ambitions in this Relay. Oh and if it's not to much of a bother could you try not to dent the enemy Heavy too much? I have this urge to salvage it mostly intact if at all possible!"

"We'll do what we can to honor our contract but if that Heavy turns on us we'll defend ourselves."

The SRL Force will deal with the Jupiter. Do you want to help them take it down quickly, or shift fire to the Heavy Cruiser?

>Have the cloaked ships target the droneships
Yes. Drones are a pain in the arse anyways and we don't need more Fighters kicking out shit in.

Focus fire on the Jupiter. It's the most dangerous enemy ship in the system for the moment and each moment it is alive is another moment that it gets to damage the Forbearance.

Also updated move plan because I don't trust Daska to be able to survive a full frontal attack against that many ships on her own with only one wing.

>>44696212
Didn't the Jon Avery become the Forbearance though? As it was inside the mine field in the Run?
>>
>>44696300
No, that was always the Forbearance. The Jon was the Super we infiltrated when we played at being a pirate to locate the Rovinars stolen prototype stealth ship. It was out initiation to being knighted. We went there and had to leave in a rush but we set out a bunch of nukes in it as a distraction. Unsurprisingly they where not very happy with us blowing up a bunch of people.
>>
>>44696300
No, you're getting 2 different mission mixed up.

Forbearance is an old Champion class. You passed it on your first trip through the Run on the way to infiltrate one of the warlords fleets. The broken hull of Forbearance and the station(s) attached to it served as a choke point, letting pirates control the Run with their minefield.

The ship you boarded once meeting up with their fleet was the John Avery.
Your team placed several torpedoes through part of the ship then blew them up. It later jumped with the rest of the Warlord fleet when they left the Relay, either after conducting repairs or with the assistance of another ship.

The real John Avery is currently in the hands of a House in South Reach after a Warlord married some Dro'all noble nearly in the war.
>>
>>44696406
John Avery is also a Mega class SH, while Forbearance is 'only' a Champion class SH.

Although I'm not sure if the Champion isn't usually a higher quality ship compared ot the Mega.

>>44695786
>Talk about Deci BB a month or two ago
Would it be feasible to take the concept of that ship, start with " It looks like someone cut a chunk out of a Alliance Capital Ship." and go from there while making sure it doesn't explode the moment somebody gives it a bad look?
>>
>>44696212
Which is still worrisome, since we know nothing about that relay. If Winifred has her hands full in South Reach then Bonrah could dump the majority of their forces on us after they secure the old Lat'tham relay.

We could quickly find ourselves swamped in Bonrah ships, especially if they are using the same cloning practices Lat'tham was allowed to do.

No worries. It's easy to mix them up. I had to check the archives because I briefly thought it was one the super heavy cruisers sonia ran into when she was still piloting her corvette.

Forbearance does have a wiki page btw.
>>
Quick poll; what would you lot think of a Reynard class BC designed to host one large, spinal weapon (Probably either a pair of quad-linked Phase Beams or a Medium Plasma Cannon,) some EWAR tech and big engines? And shuttles. Because salvage. I might be able to draw something up, with TSTG's blessing.
>>
>>44697202
Not a bad idea, however, we could just ask the shallans for their BC design. It's almost exactly like that, although it only comes with a light plasma cannon at the moment.

>Shallan Battlecruiser [S-BCRS] [Weapons: 1x spinal mount Light plasma cannon, 2x heavy phase cannon array, 2x phase cannon turret, 2x Spinal mount Heavy Pulse cannon, 4x torpedo launchers

That's the 'old' pre-invasion design btw. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a more impressive version out by now.

Every time I want to suggest a new ship and have one final look over the ships page on the wiki, there's almost exactly the same design available as a canon shallan design. Their frigate looks scary, and they probably upgraded it as well.
>>
>>44697202
No
>>
>>44697202
Personally don't see the need for a new BC design at the moment. What with the Athena class being able to fill just about every need with modules, even if we can only fit the LD module to it right now. Not to mention our fast Battleships.
>>
"Tell Forbearance to keep hitting that Jupiter, we need it out of the fight."

Both of your cloaked battleships jump in and attack the pair of Aries carriers, doing as much damage as they can in a single pass then getting out before the drones can wear down their defenses.

Coms and intel detect plenty of com traffic from the Nasidum fleet. Ruling House commanders inform you that other enemy forces on their way here have largely diverted to the Csontos system.

"We're seeing movement from the stations. It looks like they're preparing to evacuate."

The first scrap cannon shots to impact with the Jupiter glance off its shields but follow up shots result in bright flashes when the projectiles are atomised from impact with the shield.

One of the larger cannon shots from Forbearance manages to penetrate the forward shield of the converted transport, blasting a crater just above one of the siege weapons. Before you can witness the ship being torn to pieces by the SRL bombardment proximity alarms begin to go off and enemy ships appear at the back of your formation.

"What happened to "no more enemy reinforcements?"" you ask no one in particular.

A mix of raider craft have very nearly performed a perfect micro jump into your formation. They were a little off which is letting the two Wings guarding your Carriers do their job.

Vulture, Hellcat and the occasional Marauder class are doing their best to disrupt your fleet at close range. Corvettes and one third of the Knight class ships look to be sallying forth from the station to intercept you.

"Some of Ber'helum's allies have turned on us!"
"What?!"

One of the corvette wings that an ally of House Ber'helum had brought along have turned on those of the larger House. One quarter of the friendly wing near them were crippled or destroyed in the opening attack.

One piece of good news is that that the fighting on the right flank has ended but the units that took part have been heavily chewed up by SP torpedo hits.
>>
>>44697628
The right flank units need to dock for repairs but things around forbearance are a mess at the moment. Do you want to them to assist the Ber'helum forces as they are, or head for the Forbearance to dock?

Any other general orders for the battle at the moment?
>>
>>44697706
Can we pull the salvage forces off that job and recall the logistics raiding forces? We can place them right in front of the enemy exit, and have the cloaked ships ready to SP the enemy heavy's FTL ships. They need to retreat out of a relay, even minor damage will make that suicidal.
>>
>>44697628
Fuck sake. Have the Ber'Helum BC squadron assist on the flank and have the rest return for repairs. Have scrap cannons refocus fire on the Escaping Heavy. That thing is NOT escaping.

Have the Medium on the lower left and the wing with it pull back NOW. It's got two fresh squadrons of BCs, Two Mediums and more smaller ships than I care to count falling down on it soon. They will get butchered. They should just move over to the right and join our other wing there and then merge with the two RH wings as well.

Move up one of our free BC squadrons on the left flank along with our Medium to prepare to face down with the Cruise swarm coming our way in the middle. Gosh this is turning into a true mess.

Also make angry shark noises at the Ber'Helum commander.
>>
>>44697706
If any of the three wings below the SRL fleet are equipped with PD, have them support the SRL forces moving to engage.

>The right flank units
Have everybody except for the Ber'helum BCR and AB squads jump out for repairs at the nearest secure RH base. The other forces help Ber'H.

Have the cloaked ships support the wings to the lower right.

Focus scrap cannon fire on the mobile assets. If something is too damaged to jump out, move on to the next target.

Some of it. They've mostly been securing the crews. A dedicated salvage effort will be needed for the Mediums. They should be able to safely leave what's left to come help.

>Have the cloaked ships support the wings to the lower right.

I'd say leave the medium and one corvette wing in position to make sure nobody takes the salvage or tows a shukant back to to nasidum lines.

BBs go after the engines, silent hunters help the corvette wings? Or the other way around, whichever is more likely to keep our cloaked ships alive.

2 elite wings, 2 light crusier wings, 2 >50% BCR squads and a heavy vs. 1 medium, 1 BCR squad, and 2 corvette wings.

I don't think it's a smart idea to put them anywhere on their own.
>>
>>44699864
I believe its two mediums. And we'd divert additional forces to back them. And its not like they'd have to win, they just have to slow them down a bit for our overwhelming might to catch up. And you're assuming that force takes no more long range fire in the meantime.
>>
The remaining ships from the salvage operation are told to abandon their work and get to the Magdalena system as soon as possible.

The remaining Bar'helum fast battleships rush to aid the rest of their forces while you send the damaged corvettes for repairs.

You move your command ship up to help intercept any Light Cruisers and corvettes trying for your fleet. All of the close range battle happening around Forbearance is making it difficult to put fire on the fleeting Heavy. It's now using the station for cover from the SRL scrap cannons. The Jupiter is finished as are several battleships that were near it.

Point defense on your Super and escorting ships is wearing down the enemy fighters. Had you pushed your fighters in closer to the station the same might have happened to you. There are downsides. Any attack bombers still carrying SP Torpedoes are able to fire from such close range that the mass drivers have little time to shoot them down. That's what your armor is for but hull impacts and their craters are still easy to notice.

"Nice that these assholes have SP Torpedoes to throw around. Maybe we'll be able to salvage some after the fighting?" Suggests Drake.

A Vulture loses part of its drive section and spirals out of control.

"Brace!" warns Maybourne.

You really wish you were at the controls of the ship as the Vulture slams into the aft shields, some of the debris glancing off the armor protecting the engines.

Daska has managed to slow the approach the group of Nasidum ships long enough for a Ruling House fleet to overtake them. Just managing to keep her medium cruiser out of effective range of enemy Battleships in the process.
Your attack bombers soon catch up and add their fire into the rapidly devolving mess.

"Don't worry, I have no intention of committing suicide today." is her belated response to your orders to pull back.

The captain of the Forbearance contacts you.

"We've never really pushed the engines on the Forbearance all out. The structural reinforcements should let us put on enough power to match pace with that Heavy Cruiser. If you divert power from some of the weapons to engines and tractor beams we might be able to overtake it. Or we put all power to shields and weapons and put down that light cruiser swarm."

Did you want Daska to disengage and assist the Salvage team when they try to intercept the Heavy and its fleet?
They only have 1 Kilo class Medium, a battleship squadron and 2 attack wings. Its not much but it could distract long enough for the cloaked ships to strike at engines.

Or did you want the salvage fleet to go somewhere else once they jump in?
>>
>>44700284

Our Neeran guns should still aim for the Heavy. If it is going for an escape, it should be fairly easy to hit, and if we force it to roll then our attacking/intercepting forces can micro in to pound the weak section.

>>44701175
Seeing that the "Power to engines, overtake" option was something that hadn't really been tried before, no there really isn't.

The response to your request isn't as positive as you'd like. A corvette wing and an attack cruiser squadron are sent to assist, the other wing micro jumps off to assist elsewhere.

SRL Supers are maneuvering hard, the bright flares of sublight drives are easy to spot as they attempt a clear shot at the fleeing Heavy. The station is in ruins, anything further will just throw debris into low orbit.
A Sledge and a battleship squadron micro jump out and around to take up the slack where Daska left off.
Daska and the salvage unit jumps in ahead of the Nasidum forces, trying to put fire on them from the opposite side the Forbearance is. Unfortunately this has also put them near the few drone fighters the carriers were able to launch.

The rest of your group are dealing with the remaining raiders and the incoming Light cruiser wing. Forbearance shifts all torpedo fire to the closer battle. Remaining Ber'helum battleships put down the remaining traitors and charge in to assist you and the other escorts.

More than a few Knights launch SP torps once they've closed to knife fighting range. These ships might be commanded by their namesakes. The amount of fire being thrown about is clouding short range sensors.

"Incoming Corvettes are not tackling!" reports sensors.

"They're on a suicide run." explains Maybourne.

>>
>>44701922

>>
>>44701728
Suicide runs with standard corvettes used to be a common enough thing in the Faction Wars to take out high value ships. Especially in the First Faction War.

Forbearance is from that period, they're probably just keeping up tradition.
>>44701765
Also clones are a thing. And it only takes 1 person in the right place to take control of a corvette.

"Assigned escorts, protect Forbearance."

You have everyone else, especially the battleships with their larger guns, try to focus on the Knights.

Both of the Mediums escorting Forbearance get into blocking positions. You briefly see them using emergency thrusters to align more quickly. The super uses tractor beams to grab any nearby pieces of debris to use as standoff armor.

You may not have thought it possible but the rate of fire manages to increase over the next few seconds. Largely clear of fighters or close in friendlies for a brief moment your lightning guns open up, tearing into ships three at a time.

The next few minutes are filled with scores of exploding corvettes. Some hit by weapons fire, others crashing into shields or escort ships. The escorting Kilos do their job, blocking the majority of the suicide corvettes from reaching their target, even if it means taking crippling damage themselves.

Some get through, mostly in the bow areas, but some farther aft. In total 11 manage to evade the defenders or punch through the shields. None are able to hit the engines or the two larger guns, but several torpedo batteries are knocked out. The escort force is largely out of commission. Carriers are beginning search and recovery, sending shuttles for evacuation and making sure the kilos will end up in a stable orbit.

Not all of the corvettes carried through with their orders, some joining the attack witht he remaining raider craft, though they're being cut down.

Meanwhile the entire distraction has been buying time for their Heavy Cruiser to escape...

No, not really. From an outside perspective ramming ships seems heroic, and they could pitch it as such. In any case such actions are more par for the course as a common tactic. What will be embarrassing is a minor house and friends stomping their ass. Especially as they probably didn't expect things to go so far so fast. That diplomat may have been misinformed but while they thought us ambitious (The comment about maybe breaking away to form a new house) somebody in the great schemes of a great house with a great number of things on the go did not account for a rabid were-shark.

>embarrass Nasidum
Do not antagonize them. Seriously.
I'd rather not have them reroute some fleet that can just roll through the run because we managed to piss of somebody important enough.

All we should hope for is to end up in "not worth the effort" tier, and manage to stay there for the rest of the conflict while sending materiel to the other J-D territories.
>>
>>44703421
Don't forget Behrlum having a bunch of traitors among them. Meanwhile we effectively used Warlords. We totally have to play up their cunning plan in the inevitable propaganda movie.

We can also probably wrangle some shit out of Behrlum by not making them look like incompetent cock mongers who couldn't keep control of their shit.
>>
Abasi Birech watched the sensors as he lined up his cloaked battleship for a torpedo run on the heavy cruiser.

"That's it, keep the approach nice and steady. Avoid the stray phase cannon fire. No sudden bursts from the fusion drives."

"One thousand kilometers."

"Didn't serve in Knight Captain Sylvan's school of sneak attack for four bloody years to be caught now."

"Eight hundred."

"Reserve power to shield fast charge banks. Put them up as soon as the cloak drops. Now we just have to hope our twin doesn't screw up and give us away."

"Five hundred."

Not it was just a matter of waiting for a good shot at the ship rolled to keep the more heavily damaged sections of the shields away from Forbearance. Knight Commander Rna's force ahead was providing plenty of distraction and keeping away some of the potential escorts that might have been in position to block. It was also throwing stray energy weapons fire in their direction that could disrupt the cloak.

As the fire intensity around Forbearance picked up it was becoming increasingly clear that a perfect shot where the heavy torpedoes could punch through wasn't going to happen. "Good enough" would have to do.

Both ships decloaked and fired their remaining 8 SP's followed 8 more heavy torpedoes.

"Break!"

Turning hard, both ships put distance between them and re-cloaked before the heavy guns could turn from Daska's unit towards them.

All the projectiles impacted what was then the port side to the attacking force, the SP's detonating among the banks of sublight engines. Heavy Torps failed to penetrate the shield but helped to weaken it as damage to the engines ran the risk of disabling shield generators.
>>
Then the now weakened section rolled into line with the incoming scrap cannon fire. The first two shots glanced off or blew up on the shields but the following two punched cleanly through, taking out both of the damaged engine banks. The nearest drive sections momentarily splutter out, stalling a jump attempt but buying time for the South Reach ships to take another shot.

Fighting around Forbearance also dies down enough for another barrage from its big guns and heavy phase cannons.

Combined fire from both of the big ships relentlessly hammer the remaining shields as secondaries try to buy time. Scrap cannon fire is not something even a big ship like a heavy cruiser can keep taking after an extended fight. Eventually a large enough chunk of scrap punches through the central section and into the forward docking bays, filling them with burning debris.

Corvettes and transports still present inside the bay begin to launch, soon jumping to FTL. A signal goes out soon after and the rest of the escort that can disengage from Daska's unit jump out as well.

"This is Captain Gryai of the Redoubtable, we surrender. We are prepared to discuss terms regarding the fate of the ship's crew."

To be honest, I don't really care who they surrender to if it helps somebody save face, as long as we get to decide what happens.

Not if you don't care who has first claim to the ship or who it will go to.
You could say that you accept on behalf of the Ruling House, etc, or inform them you're letting them accept the surrender. That should give you more of a say in what happens to it.

Just letting the others claim the surrender might give you some pull provided they respect your contribution. Should the SRL supers hang around for awhile that respect might be a bit easier to gain.

>>44703826
>Not sure they even managed a scratch during the fight.
They did not. The ships they sent to help Daska were too busy fighting the escorts and drones.

Stopping soon after this.

Reports have come in that there is a remaining Jupiter transport in the Csontos system staging an evacuation of supplies, equipment and personnel with the remainder of the Nasidum fleet.

Well, fuck. We possibly just (officically) dragged the SRL into this.
>>
>>44704232

I'd say we should contest their evac. The SRL guys probably have stupid amounts of experience conducting such operations, too.

We might even find it useful to deploy Forbearance with the SRL Supers, due to the Escort being shot up. All 3 ships have solid siege capability, and an 'improvised' escort for Forbearance would't be as dangerous if it were just augmenting the SRL one.

It would be funny if we could manage to jump in and cripple the Jupiter, then depart the other system.

That said, we should find out the RH's reaction to the enemy evacuation. If they want to hit it themselves, we might be better off offering the SRL forces as a siege/support asset to them, while we regroup our forces?

Working on that but I'm falling asleep.

For a completely undamaged force right away minus Ruling House or SRL

2 full assault corvette wings
1 attack corvette wing
1 battleship squadron
2 Carriers & fighter groups

Damage to Forbearance isn't severe, though it may be a good idea to keep it near the surrendered Heavy.

Your fast mediums have taken some hits but are still okay.
There are plenty of battleship squadrons and attack and assault wings that need repairs and should be ready in a few hours, though that won't replace all their losses.

Stopping here for the night. will resume in the morning.

Give some though to the following: 1) who or what you're going to dedicate this victory to. The Media is going to want info. To the rising power of your House? to the success of the Run alliance? Ber'helum? Ruling House? Other? Or will you try to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible?

2) Keeping the Heavy cruiser or handing it off to an ally, and which one that might be.

3)The planet(s) in Nasidum territory. A previous survey said to just take their orbital industry but a good portion of that might be part of the payment to the mercs.
>>
>>44704613
One last bump for the night.

Brief thoughts:
1. Everybody who's planning to keep the dominion actively involved in the fight against the neeran empire?
We should definitely let the allied commanders have the biggest share of the attention if they're okay with it.

2) I remember something about J-D not being able to finance another ship of that size at the moment, and the ascendancy c isn't particularly impressive these days either. I wouldn't mind giving it to somebody else.

3) I guess it's going to be complicated. Having direct access to the nav station leading to the dominion could be useful but it's also an incredibly vulnerable position. Are there really only 2 colonies, or were those two the only relevant ones? Several of our allies don't have any habitable plantes in the relay, iirc.

>REDACTED
We'd never take over Veritas :o
>>
>>44704613

1. We should dedicate it to the Alliance of Houses that aided us, including both the Royal House and Ber'helum. We should make a point that this entire battle is a tragedy, however, as the Dominion can not bleed itself forever in the face of the continued Neeran assault upon the Factions. (remember, we have allies, not vassals)

2. With J-D's manpower situation, we're probably best consulting the other Baron in the Run Alliance. A 'joint custody' situation is out of the question, so unless one of our Alliance Houses can afford to crew and field the thing, gift to Ber'helum? Or maybe even Helios?

As much as I'd love to claim the ship, we're probably better off not having a Major House's Ascendancy class, should they come looking to reclaim the thing.

3. Hard to say. Strategically speaking, handing them over to Ber'helum could be a good way to encourage them to send a larger force to the region, and give them a fair foothold towards a logistics chain in this relay. The Royal House claims their logistics setup is key to why they should remain in charge, right?
>>
>>44704232
Claimit ourselves, then turn it over to the FA for the war effort>>44704198
so we keep our salvaging reputation.
>>
>>44704613
1: Obviously to the Run Alliance except that one traitorous House. Those are getting slammed like no other.

2: We HAVE to keep that Heavy ship. People keep trying to say that we can't staff another one but the House said they wont send us any Heavy once they pull back the Forbearance to the home worlds and then we will be stuck here with no Capital ship support except the Mediums.

3. JD should at the very lest take the Magdalena territory. It will be valuable to have their regional capital as our own planet and the access to the Nav Relay is good as well. Just need to move up some static defenses up there in case any enemy force jumps in from outside of the Relay.

I stand by what I said. Without a Heavy to form our fleet around we will be at a disadvantage. We have 1 person wanting to contest the evacuation. The Ruling House however are much more inclined to do so. Since you seem to have most of the situation under control here they eventually pull most of their local fleet and jump out.

There are maybe 15 corvette and mixed wings, 4 light cruiser wings, the rest of the Nasidum Medium cruisers and 50 battleships. Most of their units have suffered damage, especially those that have fled the main fight here.

Ruling House has 2 assault corvette wings, 8 attack corvette wings, 20 battleships, and 4 carriers, but they don't need to protect transports and haven't suffered as much damage.

Ruling House is trying to free up other assets to assist.
>>
>>44709146
>Wait, the RH is pulling out?

>Can we repair the heavy?
Yes. You would need to divert resources, especially engines, from one of the other shipyards.
>How long would it take to repair the ship?
Maybe 3 months?
>Can we staff it?
Not right away. Will halt expansion of your fleet while it's being brought up to optimal levels.
>Can we afford to keep it?
Difficult, not impossible. It would put strain on House logistics and having both it and Forbearance in the Run is a bad idea if J-D kept it.

>Have we received any update about the rest of our House?
Updates will follow once blockade situation is resolved and communication normalised.

>>44704198
>Could one of the more diplomatically inclined crew or knights comment on this?
Taking it for yourself gives you the most options, politically or otherwise. You can still give it to one of the other parties later.

Giving the heavy to the Ruling House will increase their local strength to a point where it would be very difficult for other Houses to challenge them here again.

Giving it to Ber'helum would greatly increase their strength and allow them to provide a realistic challenge to the Ruling House in the region. This may result in more local Houses supporting Ber'helum.

>>44709376
>Ruling House might not like how much salvage the SRL claims.
Would having the SRL blockade the nav station help with that? While they'd still be able to take a lot of ships, it would impact the infrastructure around that planet a lot less.
>>
>>44709376
TSTG, a question about Nasidum territory. As we've defeated their fleet, does that mean all their local territory defaults to us? Do we get to hand it out as we see fit?
>>
There's an old saying: Possession is nine-tenths of the law.

If you want territory you'd better be prepared to land ground troops and occupy it. Your allies also have troops they can bring in. You may only have 100k troops with you atm but that's enough to secure key areas like government buildings.

The Ruling House has the most local troops of any House in the Relay and had been fighting Nasidum since their arrival. They're going to get some territory one way or another, its just a question of how much.

You rally ships from the SRL Fleet and your own to help harass the enemy evacuation effort. The arrival of additional medium cruisers and escorts are enough for the remaining transports to abandon the remaining cargo and industrial modules still in orbit and jump out. The Jupiter transport -a more normal model- provides some covering fire with its weapons while the smaller ships jump.

While hasty the withdrawal is not a panicked rout. Nasidum ships maintain covering formations despite losses as the more valuable ships jump, then follow themselves if possible. They're not able to cover everyone. The Pirates manage to find gaps in their formation to cripple the occasional transport. Crews of the Sledge class ships disable a number of battleships, claiming them as salvage.

The rest of the evacuation is more difficult to interdict. Ships still at the nav station ensure that the guild resumes something approaching normal operations. Anyone in an appropriate outbound zone within five lightyears of the station can be sent jump data.

Daska and two Ruling House Mediums soon contest control of the station, chasing off the remainder of the blockade and getting the navigators to restrict broadcasts until things have calmed down.
>>
You've accepted the surrender of the Heavy Cruiser. Marines are in the process of taking control of it.

Ruling House forces are moving to sweep enemy territory stating with the region closest to the nav relay.

Previously players seemed to be interested only in salvaging the orbital industry of these regions and leaving them so as to make them less valuable to future invasion attempts. Is that still you plan of action, or do you wish to capture territory for the House or Run Alliance? Keep in mind you could always trade that territory.

>>
>>44709961

Another
Laying claim to Magdalena seems the easiest. We already got lots of forces there and have fought there so we can more easily claim it. So yeah. Magdalena territory and all that belongs to that sector/province/area.

Also would not mind all that orbital industry but I guess that goes without saying if we claim the Magdalena territory.
>>
>>44709961
>[ ] Try to capture some territory (Where?)
Magdalena is ours by the right of conquest! Claim it for House Jerik-Dreminth. Territory and land is the most valuable commodity in the world after all.
>>
>>44709961
How about this:
We secure Nasidum space together.

RH gets the sector around their logistics base, J-D gets the sector around Magdalena, Ber'helum takes one of the Nasidum territories further up the run, and we go from there once we've tallied the salvage.

I'd like to see if we can get Ber'helum or Helios some space around the nav station because I really don't want a single house to have control over it again.
>>
>>44710042
>Did anybody else feel like we didn't roll enough during the large battle? I know we were trying to reduce the impact of RNG for large fleet operations but this one felt odd.

>>44710042
>See if we can secure the two isolated territories for Ber'helum.

Ber'helum is sending a force to deal with the traitors. The rest of their reserves are headed for the Nasidum pocket and would welcome any assistance. Once the remainder of their fleet has finished repairs with the assistance of Forbearance they would like to leave the system to help them.

It looks like you're going to perform a planetary assault. With the marines busy in orbit they won't be able to provide much assistance. This will be the first real test of your army.

The government of Magdalena has undoubtedly seen the results of the battle in orbit but they've kept the planetary shields up, only opening holes long enough for retreating starfighters or shuttles to land.

"They're not responding to our requests to surrender." reports coms.

"Not unusual." Tama informs you. "If they can tie up any troops we land it will keep them from being used on other worlds Nasidum may find to be more valuable. If it takes long enough to secure the planet they might even be able to bring in another fleet before we're completely finished, trapping our army on the ground."

"Do you really think it will take us that long?" you ask.

The Admiral shruggs. "We will have advanced notice if they send a fleet large enough to retake the region. If you want it done quickly I would suggest asking for help from our allies."

Here.

The units that went up against the enemy patrol fleet took the worst damage due to SP Torpedo usage and the fact that they were fighting other elite assault corvette units.

>>44711205
You can threaten to do so. Actually doing it will be difficult unless you use SP weapons. You guys haven't taken part in many planetary assaults on more heavily defended and settled planets.

Both planets have full shield coverage. An assault usually entails a steady barrage to open a hole in the shield long enough for transports to reach the surface. They then secure shield generators allowing them to create a hole for more reinforcements from orbit.

Csontos has a 30% larger population and more orbital industry due to its position near the nav station. Both have populations of more than 1 Billion.

>Does taking Csontos automatically mean control over that sector, or can we claim territory despite not taking the planet?
Taking the planet will give you a claim on a large swath of the surrounding space. 5 light years minimum.
Capturing the minor outposts in the space surrounding it is a viable tactic but will take longer.

Joint RH and JD planetary invasions of Magdalena and Csontos so we can ensure that the attack goes quicker than if either of us did it alone. We take one of the planets, either Magdalena or Csontos and they take the other one. It ensures that we both get a another colony out of this and it speeds up the resolution of this campaign so we can refocus on other threats and rebuild both the planets defenses for our own use.

It's really rather simple and should benefit us both.

The Ruling House plans to set up additional patrol and staging bases in the region to stall any future advances into the region. They would accept if you were to build suitable bases and allow them access.
Or alternatively they're looking to contract Houses in the region to construct those bases for them and would be paid handsomely to do so.

Doesn't work like that. If you want them to give up their claim to the territory there you'll be contractually obligated to build the bases they need.

You could just take a force and occupy the region but then you'll be defending it in the future without their help. You could ask Ber'helum to fund putting bases there instead now that the blockade is falling.

They're in rough shape, but engineers think they can salvage the remaining siege cannons from the Jupiter. Despite their smaller size you don't really have anything that can mount them.

>Those seem like something we might want to mount on the Forbearance, or possibly come up with a military station design that uses them. They also might be perfect for Berlehum's budget helios design
It may be possible to throw together a turret design using the smaller siege guns that Forbearance could mount. When the ship was upgraded space was set aside so that it could fit 4 of the larger turrets. 2 are currently occupied.
You could probably get them operational for 25 million, or rush them for 50 million.

Mounting them on a dedicated station platform is also an option.
They could be fitted to one of the newer Ber'helum siege designs but only one per ship in which case they might be a bit under powered.

You have time to think about it.

It's become somewhat clearer why a particular ally of Ber'helum turned. There was a Ruling House logistics base inside their territory which Nasidum wanted destroyed. They ordered the attack launched as a distraction for their larger evacuation efforts and the ships they'd provided for the fleet attacked your allies as well as the base.
While damaged, enough response forces were able to rush to the aid of the logistics base before it could be destroyed.
Questions are being raised over how loyal the other Houses in the region may be.

And before I get sidetracked again:

Hmm, I know it's probably too much to ask, but could we get more detailed on the relay map sections that J-D is starting to operate in? Right now we have colonies (or just regional capitals?) and some logistics bases, but not other things like yards and rare elements. Going forward it'd be useful information to have if we're taking territory for strategic reason, for long term development or to trade with our allies...
>>
>>44714706
I'll try to work up something for the next game. Which reminds me, I need to get AutoCAD onto this computer

When more troops transports have arrived from other Houses of the Run Alliance you have Forbearance moved to a better position to begin the orbital bombardment. EC-K's and other ships with more powerful sensors and ECCM take constant readings as the big ship opens fire.

Most of the weapons fire is restricted to heavy phase cannons, though the larger Neeran guns are used early on to help soften up the shields. Once they're below 50% Tama has them cease fire for fear of over penetration. Phase cannons switch to wider beams and spread out the damage due to similar concerns.

This is the sort of job that twin linked phase cannons are never used for.

"We're opening a hole." Sensors confirms a few minutes later.

"One kilometer in diameter and expanding."

Once it's passed three kilometers wide the signal is given for the lead transports and LST's to begin their assault. More heavily shielded ships are first followed by starfighters which quickly spread out.

"Ground fire is confirmed. Missiles are attempting to intercept our transports while they're still in the upper atmosphere."

Ground based particle beams, mass drivers, and even specially modified phase cannons are trying to direct what fire they can towards your ships.

Less than a third of the way to the surface once of the assault transports are hit by ground fire, losing shields on one side long enough for smaller weapon hits to damage an engine. Its descent becomes much less controlled but is still slow enough that the landing should be survivable for the troops.

"Damaged transport is off course, but they'll miss any heavily populated areas."

Other ships take some damage as well but in most cases its quantity over quality of the hits.
>>
HAG's and LST's provide fire support, neutralising the defenses of the main spaceport in time for the Assault Transports to make their landing. Another transport takes minor damage during landing from previously hidden weapon emplacements resulting in damage to one of the spaceport terminals as they miss their intended pad.

The General reports that the troops are fine. "Any landing you can walk or drive away from is a good one as far as my people are concened."

Heavy tanks roll out first, taking hits on their much tougher armor and letting those behind them locate the source of fire. HAG's come in as low as they dare, extending shields in some cases to provide cover.
LST's meanwhile drop teams of power cell armor equipped special forces to seize command centers.

Allied HLV's set down on the surrounding landing fields and extend shields until the entire complex is protected from enemy artillery.

Within minutes the General reports that the beachhead is secure and that the tanks are moving towards the capital. Z5P's duel with fighters from the PDF while Burlock's help hunt down tanks and support the troops where HAG's aren't available.

As fighting progresses into the capital the General is forced to call off the HAG's. Their big guns are too powerful for street fighting. Instead they're sent to support LST's and advanced units trying to take the government buildings.

The damaged transport that was thrown off course was assisted by its LST's in making a hard landing out in an area of farmland. Their tanks and troops are rapidly advancing to secure the areas outside the city, overrunning one nearby military base.

Within two hours of the initial landing the capital buildings have been secured along with most of the region within 200 kilometers of the capital. Your House Transport is finishing its refit above Rioja and will be able to begin shipping in troops shortly.

Between you and the others of the Run alliance you've landed 450,000 troops.

You bring in another 140,000 troops in from Rioja once the transport is ready. A combination of LST's and the two undamaged assault transports transfer them to the surface over the next few days.
Your allies also bring in more of theirs, eventually bringing troop totals up to just under 800k.

Less than a million troops to secure a planet with such a large population may not seem like much, but air and orbital support are excellent force multipliers. There are also rarely cases where governments are unopposed.

Within the first days of the initial assault the fleet is contacted by groups on the surface. Disaffected nobles or officers that didn't want their House to ally with House Nasidum or surrender their territory.
In the face of overwhelming opposition the previous Governor didn't feel like they had a choice.

Some are willing to join your side and fight the remaining Nasidum holdouts in return for some of their former holdings. There are few enough that your diplomats suggest taking them in if only for the media boost they can give you.
The several thousand troops they manage to rally are definitely of value.

As General Rna tells you; "Take the help either way, but you don't necessarily need to pay them back later."

The main fighting has concluded within the week. You control all of the major cities, military bases and planetary shields. The diplomats will get to work hashing out who controls what on the planet. You contributed more than 30% of the troops with the remaining split between 5 other Houses giving Jerik-Dremine a significant say.

With this end of the relay secured for a full week now your enemies have had time to flee back to the Centri cluster. It's not clear right away if they're going to attempt a counterattack with the blockade fleet they'd been keeping at the other end. Your larger ships can be ready for a fight if necessary but the salvaged ones like the Mediums and Heavy won't be.
>>
Within the day there are rumors of a Ber'helum fleet escorting a gravity well generator operating near the periphery of the Centri cluster. It isn't much longer before the Nasidum fleet abandons the remaining blockade and heads for friendly territory.

The orbital shipyards are started up as soon as possible to replace some of your losses in the immediate aftermath of the fighting. Even attack corvettes would be welcome to help recover losses.

Search and recovery teams are picking up pilots and crews that abandoned ship with their emergency teleporters.

The Francis Alfonso has made several runs picking up Medium Cruisers and other ships, towing them back to stations capable of repairing them.

SRL Mercenaries are looking for their promised cut of the spoils but know they're not going to get as much as hoped for. While they provided plenty of fire support helping to disable the Heavy Cruiser, their fleet didn't really get into the heaviest action.
Moving two supers isn't exactly a small undertaking though.

Alternatively the Captain of the SRL fleet has an idea for another payment option. Its difficult for them to get hold of anti-torpedo armor. Alternatives of different types have been appearing all over the place but the upgraded versions produced by your House or Iratar are among the best.
If the Forbearance shipyard were to upgrade their two supers they would need to keep the fleet here a bit longer while that was taking place. This is worth much more than their services so far have been worth but would keep them around to potentially counter House Bonrah.

Thoughts?

They're most likely just going to sell them off, as they're using Sledge cruisers, and these would just complicate the logistics train.

I'd also consider selling those 2 Kilos bad taste after their battle performance.

>1x Carrier
I'd like to keep one to allow our fleets a bit more flexibility. I'm more than read to part with the other two because I don't think we can't afford to spend too many of our potential pilots on fighter craft.

>Assault corvettes
Most of our training and logistics is geared for these. I don't think we should part with them.

EC-K are considered so modern our house wasn't willing to sell them to mercs a few months ago. I think we shouldn't either. DA/CRV are probably wasted on these guys as they're not particularly useful out of combat.

Ber'helum want's a medium cruiser for the region. They're willing to pay for it. More reinforcements for the region may follow depending on your acceptance of a shipyard contract in the near future.

House Emina has been defeated by a combined J-D / Feron offensive. Some territory from the conquered house was given to J-D to provide a buffer from the homeworlds. This included a number of resource rich systems. Emina has been reduced to a vassal state of Feron.
A habitat station in orbit of Loran II was the one previously destroyed in an attack by Emina. Apparently they had bad intel that it was a cloning facility secretly established with the help of the Ruling House.

Kharbos has begun assisting Houses in the path of the offensive launched by Xygen. The Ruling House has asked those within their sphere to begin preparing to repel the incoming wave and have assured them that forces will be ready to help when the time comes.

House Che'len has gone on the offensive to secure a number of minor vassal Houses that other major Houses have rolled over while going after those bought out by foreign interests. Che'len has made public statements that it is not acting in support of Nasidum and will halt its offensive once they've met their objectives. Right now they're mostly fighting the Ruling House and Ber'helum.

Mercenaries and privateers believed to be funded by Bonrah have stepped up actions against Ber'helum and Helios. Helios has responded by condemning the attacks and has deployed their fleet. They've promised to wipe out the pirate bases threatening them and their vassals, even if they have to cross into the territory of other Houses to do so.

Talos has begun openly selling ships and arms to Xygen, Nasidum and Bonrah, most importantly their Heavy Carriers.

It can be difficult and depends how animu you want to go.

The mercs come up with a counter counter offer.

First is the upgrade of 2 of their Sledge class with anti-torpedo armor and LD plasma cannons. The second item which you do not expect is the rights for their mercenary company to make use of an abandoned PMC base in the Run.

"Your House would be allowed full access to the facility for inspections or checks as with any other mercenary unit operating a base within your territory. We'd be allowed to mine the system to support the base and operations therein.
Our big ships will stay in the area long enough to make sure the base can defend itself against an enemy attack but we will be headed back shortly after the upgrades are finished. The upgraded ships and an escort will stay here and operate out of the base, taking contracts."

Would you be at all interested in this deal?

Yellow arrow is pointing to a tiny little "B" inside J-D space.

>Any news from the family on petras, or winifred's end of the house and our sister?
Family back home is doing fine. Dad is almost but not quite overworked with the continued expansion of House space and the logistical nightmare that represents. He's glad the House didn't conquer any more colonies.
Then you tell him you took another colony.
"I need to go lie down. I think this is going to be a month with a lot of long shifts."

Winifred and your sister are starting to see more combat at her end. The Baron tells you your intel people will get info from her soon. There are some things that need to be taken care of.

Bekka is being switched between ships a lot being in the top 10% of the pilots based out of the area. While she's a top tier assault corvette pilot she's more experienced with attack cruisers than most people her age. She's trying to get one of the new Dusk class ships, and while she's flown them her and her crew are often needed flying support with EC-K's.
"Mission requirements can be really frustrating. Why do I have to fly the support boat?
I even had to carry around an older Knight and act as the pilot of his command ship once because he couldn't handle the assault corvettes."

"It means they trust you with an important duty." you assure her.

"I could have saved three of our ships if I'd been closer to the fighting!"

>>44721695
>Could we perhaps add to that that they help with anti piracy activity within a certain radius of the base?
On the condition they can keep what they salvage from said pirates. They would be fine if they need to give you a receipt afterwards.

Maybe. What is their long-term plan for the system? Would they be willing to operate as Privateers for the JD military so that we staff and maintain the base, but they get use of it so long as the lease is in effect?

I mean, I just don't want a random mercenary power base in the region unless they have a good reason for wanting to run it themselves.
>>
>>44722197
>"I could have saved three of our ships if I'd been closer to the fighting!"

Then trust your superiors to recognize that fact. Also, it's entirely possible that the Knight was worth those three ships, and that you don't get to make the choice about whether or not he is.

Sometimes orders suck. But they're your orders to follow. If she's really unhappy with her position, we can possibly pull some rank to see her reassigned but it might give her some problems down the road if she's thought to be getting ahead due to her connections and not her own merit.

Binil is against it. After the recent terrorist scare they're worried that SRL aligned mercenaries could use it as a way for hostiles to gain entrance to the Run.

Kuadneos and Kadnil are both in favour of the idea. They have PCCG Guild aligned mercenary companies operating out of their space in the Run. Binil does as well as they point out.

And I say again yes. Sulos is NOT on that map. I don't see it saying Sulos anywhere on there.
The only map their house has been explicitly listed on is one that was only posted once to my knowledge and has been since mentioned (twice?) that it's colour code will be changed before it is posted again. That map isn't even on the wiki, and if it was I would delete it.

With the fall of the remaining enemy colonies, outposts and stations, Major combat operations in the DRH1 Relay are for the moment over. The Ruling House considers it a great victory that would not have been possible without the assistance of the united Houses of the region.

A Victory ball will be held within the week on the former House Posat capital. Sonia is of course expected to attend, as are representatives of all members of the Run Alliance. Even Ber'helum.

The Media, even if only from your House, recognize your contribution to events. They're of course demanding to know who or what you're going to dedicate this victory to.

House Sulos is the host to that FA base at the Western end of the Run, unless that has suddenly changed.

That is why I wanted to contact the Sulos Knight we saved during our undercover mission and who got JD forces onto Forbearance station during the Smugglers Run arc earlier in this civil war.

But really to the Run Alliance. After all, we were sent an incredibly insulting diplomat who refused to even consider the other houses in the Run. JD might be the biggest, but that doesn't mean the others don't have value and should be discounted.

We in the Run saved ourselves from a House that showed that it respected neither rank nor common courtesy. JD may have taken a leading role to protect the value of the run as a whole, but that value isn't in JD alone but in it's allies who were stalwart and true that let us project force into Nasidium space without worrying fear of betrayal.
>>
>>44723078

I just want to be really clear, I want to frame this as much as possible as a defensive action. Nasidium's diplomat was already treating us as vassals, and the other houses as not even nobles.

And since it looks like the thread will be falling off the page soon.

Ber'helum is is very interested in the strategic importance of the region. While they're apologetic that they couldn't spare more active military assets they most definitely want to develop the local infrastructure of its allies.

They intend to upgrade 1 of your larger shipyards. Either a Medium Cruiser yard to dramatically increase its rate of output, or to upgrade the Forbearance yard to a full shipyard capable of producing Super Heavy Cruisers from scratch.

They can only invest the resources to do 1.
>>
>>44723666
Gott in Himmel!! Forbearance yard sounds absolutely fantastic but mediums all day is very tempting.

Forbearance full shipyard.
>>
>>44723666

... so a single-slip SHC yard, or a higher production Medium yard?

The Medium yard is the best choice, really. It must take years for a single-slip yard to build a SHC, and you probably can't service your existing SHCs if they need repairs while a new one is being built.

They were finding some long term side effects I believe?
I'm getting a migraine and cant clearly recall what the problem was. I'm sure its in my notes somewhere.

It can be used but treatment has to be tailored to the individual so they would prefer to give it to as few people as possible. Asking intel about it they believe the Terrans may have found a way around the problem but it has to be administered at a younger age. The problem is that humans cant legally volunteer for it in their early teens.

I take it you want it for Sonia? Or some of your pilots or special forces? Be aware, many nobles won't duel enhanced individuals. Most would already be reluctant to do so with your cybernetics.
