Are robots capable of magic?
>>
>>44663006
Depends on the setting.

Yes.

In the case of GURPS, I'd let them use Ritual Path Magic, but not standard Magery or Sorcery. (An exception would be if they had some sort of mana gathering magitech shit.)

Even if they could, they'd still never be capable of love.
>>
>>44663080
Wonderful. Just the man I need.
What if they had powerstones>
>>
>>44663108
Didn't think about that. I still think they'd need some sort of magitech hardware to use it tho. Probably represented by regular Magery.
>>
>>44663006
of course!
>>
>>44663006
US robots, being Negros, naturally have access to lightining powers.
>>
>>44663006
As he said : >>44663070
It depends on the setting

What you had in mind?
>>
>>44663114
Fair enough. Still, not being organic should impose them disadvantages while casting it. For example double cost.
>>44663128
>>44663070
It was just one of the random ideas regarding magic.
Another one being: parasites that grant people ability to use magic.
>>
>>44663070
It doesn't, the answer is 'Yes'.
>>
>>44663139
I don't think the double cost would be necessary unless they maybe have that as a limitation on the Magery. I like the idea of ejecting burnt out powerstone batteries tho.
>>
>>44663139
>parasites that grant people ability to use magic.
>midichlorians
>>
>>44663175
Did someone mention the Force? I am angry about that!

Not that small.
A literal booger.
Yes. I watched that terribad show.
>>
>>44663006
If they have a soul, yes.
If you are considering advanced technology magic, yes.
Otherwise no.
>>
>>44663256
Define soul
>>
>>44663406
A mystical element of one's being.
>>
>>44663406
Depends on the setting.
>>
>>44663006
Can humans use magic? We are just robots with different bits. Does magic require a soul? What is a soul? What kind of magic? What is magic?
it depends on the setting.
>>
>>44663452
>>44663518
I think it's safe to assume answer to implicit question of "what setting" to be "whatever setting I want"
>>
>>44663547
Then answer all questions in
>>44663518
Fully.
>>
>>44663547
Is "depends o setting" the most universal answer out there?
>>
>>44663617
Its universal because its the most accurate to date.
>>
>>44663617
Depends on the setting.

No.
>>
>>44663115
The original is about the qt robot being insane after her lover rejected her IIRC
>>
>>44663610
Can't. Then it would not be "whatever setting I want" but "whatever setting OP might have had in mind"

I believe the point of questions with no specific setting named is how you would have handled them if they arose in whichever setting you like or are using.
>>
>>44663655
This is the correct answer.
>>
>>44663080
Except in GURPS there is literally Piers Anthony's Apprentice Adept series as a splat, where a Robot does learn magic and gains magery.

Means it still depends on setting.
>>
>>44663006
if magic items exist, why robots wouldnt be able to cast magic?
>>
>>44663694
Really mediocre UMD skills.
>>
>>44663694
If the trigger mechanism for the magic items requires a living component, robots wouldn't be able to use them.
>>
The answer depends on the settting you fucking dolt.

>>44663731
>UMD
Kill yourself D&Dtard
>>
>>44663737
>If the trigger mechanism for the magic items requires a living component, robots wouldn't be able to use them.
just use a rat on a rat wheel as the robot engine and train this rat to use the magic item (robot)
>>
>>44663749
That's ludicrously complicated. What's next, a camera that's really an imp in a box that paints pictures really quickly?
>>
>>44663006

Harry Potter: NO.

Star Wars:NO.But a Cyborg can.

Ghost in the Shell:YES,You can make an artificial soul

D&D: WARFORGED
>>
>>44663782
That be pretty cool thou
>>
>>44663785
>D&D: WARFORGED
Eh, d&d constructs have a spiritual component anyway. And if there were a traditional robot there they could be enchanted anyway.
>>
>>44663006
Why not.
>>
>>44663175
I was thinking Metal Gear but that works too, I guess.
>>
>>44663083
So, just like regular wizards then?
>>
No, but they can use a healthy dose of nanomachines and mastery over the natural laws of nature to replicate magic-like effects.

>overused_arthur_c_clarke_quote.txt
>>
If they were sentient, I'd say so. I reckon magic should require a certain level of imagination to use, you know?
>>
If casting magic have CAPTCHA, then no
>>
>>44663006
Yes. In My Setting, a soul is required to interact with magic, but any computing device (organic or otherwise) will develop a soul simply through use in a magical environment. Modifications and special hardware are usually required to access it and effectively use it, however.

(Cells also have souls, DNA being enough like a program to count. Where did you think morphogenetic fields and "life force" came from?)
>>
>>44663006

Yes

But they must never learn they are
>>
>>44667628
Why?
>>
>>44663006

Are you kidding? They're the most likely out of anyone to become wizards, since they guard their virginities so jealously.
