that which devours
the vine is cleverer than I thought
achieving its goal while minimizing the suspicion directed at it
the only issue is its misguided sense of regret
and its desire to harm itself
it makes no sense

The room is completely silent.
Irene's sitting on the couch, waiting for me and Theresa to pass judgement on her. And while I can't speak for Theresa, I'm really at a loss here. From everything that Irene just told me, her sister has every reason to hate her. I mean, if something happened to Allison and the voice in my head tried to take her place, I'd probably never forgive it.
After what seems like forever, I finally manage to sort out my thoughts, breaking the silence with a long groan.
"Irene..." I turn to her, "what you did was really messed up."
"It was," Irene nods.
"And I can't blame Katrine for hating you at all."
"Neither can I," she replies with a pained smile.
"But when it comes to -me-, you've never done anything other than be as nice as you possibly can and gone out of your way to help out when I was in trouble."
Irene stares at me with a look of total disbelief.
"So you're not going to tell me to get out of your house?" she asks.
"What? No, why would I-" I stop myself and take a deep breath. "What I'm trying to say is that while -she- might have every reason to hate you, -I- don't. And since I'm pretty sure you're a better person than you were back then, I'm going to assume that you wouldn't do anything to change that."
>there's something else that I wanted to say...
>leave the rest to the theresa
>there's something else that I wanted to say...
You shouldn't let the things you've done diminish your worth as a person. You've changed since then. You're trying to be a better person, and you're trying to make amends. You're repenting. If nothing else, give yourself credit for that.
I'm not sure where it came from, I just saw it posted somewhere on 4chan.
She's also a lot flatter
betterthan that in game. Picture related (but still shitty since the Bravely Default team can't into art that isn't a sprite).
>She's also a lot flatter better than that in game.
Irene's my friend and all, but I -do- have things to get back to so I opt not to prolong this by saying anything else for now. Instead, I glance over at Theresa, who seems to be way more bothered by IREne's story than I was.
"I..." Theresa starts to pace around, "Shit, I thought you were just someone like Charlotte and not..." she shakes her head.
"Sorry for keeping it from you," Irene replies. "It's something that I try not to think about as much as possible since all it does is remind me of how awful I am."
"I'm not blaming you for that," she says, shaking her head. "I mean, I haven't even known you for a week and the sordid details of your past aren't something that you usually spring on someone you just started dating."
Continuing to deploy flat.
Because giantess is my fetish and I wish to keep my fetish separate from the thread at hand.
I'll admit, most of my busty Suika pics are a bit too lewd for /tg/.
But while I'm here, https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/458132
I was waiting to see when this would come up.
Theresa leans back in her chair and groans.
"But there is one thing that I'm wondering about," Theresa says.
"What is it?" Irene asks.
"You said that you can make multiples of yourself, righT?"
"So like... do you go out with one person per instance, or-"
"Of course not!" she shouts. "I'm not that kind of girl!"
THAT'S what she was worried about?
I didn't want to do this, you forced my hand.
Proof that flat girls can have bigger tits than tittymonster girls. It's all a matter of proportion
"Great," Theresa says, returning to her feet. "In that case, I don't have any problem with keeping on like we have been."
"You still want to date me after everything I just told you?" Irene asks, staring at her.
"Well it's not like you killed Katrine," she shrugs. "And like Cecile said, you're not the same person you were back then so I'm not gonna judge. I mean, I've done plenty of crappy stuff in the past myself that I still haven't forgiven myself for."
Smirking to herself, Theresa walks over to Irene and plops down next to her on the couch.
"And besides, there hasn't been a night that she hasn't dreamed of doing all manner of lewd things to you since meeting you," she says, grinning from ear to ear.
>I heard nothing
Branch owners trance when their altpersonality's desires and their main's desires are in sync, right?
So does that mean Theresa trances during intentionally lewd moments and sexytimes?
"...say what?" I ask, staring at Theresa's smug face.
"Oh, you're curious?" Theresa laughs. "All -sorts- of things, mostly involving Irene's delicious rack," she says, pointing at her girlfriend's bust. "Burying our face in them and doing that 'motorboat' thing, buying her swimsuits that are -just- too small to fit properly and simply enjoying the sight, resting our head on her lap while she wears nothing but a tanktop that doesn't quite cover them... you know, the usual," she laughs. "Though now that we know that there's more than one of you around, that's sure to affect her fantasies..." she licks her lips. "Have you ever fooled around with yourself?"
I have no idea if the other Theresa is just pranking her for the fun of it or if she's telling the truth, but Irene seems to be taking her 100% seriously.
"C- cut it out already and give control back to Theresa!" Irene stammers, half-covering her blushing face.
"What's wrong, Irene?" Theresa replies, moving her face in close. "I've just given you confirmation that Theresa fully accepts you even knowing what you really are, isn't that a happy thing?" she giggles. "Knowing that she wants to do all the same lewd things to you as she wants to do to Cecile here..." she glances at me.
And then that smile on her face immediately faced away.
"Uh-" Theresa darts her gaze from me to Irene and back again. "Shit, what'd she say now..."
>no biggie, time to do other stuff onw
>Branch owners trance when their altpersonality's desires and their main's desires are in sync, right?
The alternate personality has to push for it, but that's generally how it goes.
>So does that mean Theresa trances during intentionally lewd moments and sexytimes?
Provided that they both have the desire to lewd the same target, yes.
>Does anyone else find it odd that Theresa is the only one that doesn't remember what happens when they swap?
It's a temporary takeover, not a trance. Cecile and Joshua have to deal with the same.
"Sexual harassment. But it was mostly directed at Irene this time," I say, pointing at the blushing girl that's sitting next to her.
"Oh God damn it..." Theresa buries her face in her hands. "I'm so sorry, I hope she didn't creep you out too bad."
"It's uh," Irene holds up her hands, "it's okay, I'm okay. I really ought to be used to lewd comments by now anyways."
>I have more important things to do right now than engage in silliness
>I am always in the mood for teasing
Even though CC is fine with what Irene is, her acceptance still seemed too harsh. I mean, what was Irene supposed to do? Just roll over and die?
It feels wrong how all characters in this quest run on the basic assumption that the so-called vines don't deserve to live.
It made sense to doubt it originally, since so far the only knowledge they had with it was that a Vine taking over resulted in the person's death.
With the explanation, it's much more understandable. Still a bit scummy that she assumed direct control instead of just waiting or explaining, but she's also had at least a few decades to grow as a person.
Even if it does result in a person's death, I don't see a reason to automatically condemn the vine, for the same reasons you don't automatically condemn a regular killer. There can be a valid explanation.
>Even though CC is fine with what Irene is, her acceptance still seemed too harsh. I mean, what was Irene supposed to do? Just roll over and die?
Keep in mind that Cecile is in kind of a shitty mood at the moment.
>It feels wrong how all characters in this quest run on the basic assumption that the so-called vines don't deserve to live.
To be fair, a good number of them have a decent reason to feel that way. Keep in mind that most tend to lean more towards Cecile's as opposed to Joshua's.
Theresa is mostly okay with hers.
Yes, but I doubt either of them have considered many possibilities of situations where a voice is friendly but still ends up taking over its host's personality.
It's not like they have a wide pool of samples for that. As far as they knew, it only happens when the person gets super-depressed and the voice initiates a hostile takeover.
Yeah, but again, what if the voice was in the moral right in whatever situation? If some voices can be good people, then it's not a big leap of thought to assume that some voices can actually be better people than their hosts.
I mean, I can imagine it. The host is a violent asshole who does bad thing X regularly, the voice can't talk them down or stop them all the time, so they take over.
"Now that you're with Theresa, you're going to have to learn how to deal with her massive perv tendencies," I say. "Especially with her Branch being what it is and all."
"C'mon, Cecile," Theresa groans. "You know I'm not that bad."
"Do I now?" I shrug. "My voice is violent and it's only realty able to take over when I'm pissed off, but yours is a pervert that pops in whenever she wants. That seems to imply a certain something."
Just as Irene's face is starting to return to its natural color, Theresa's the one who's starting to become flushed.
"That, uh," Irene glances at me, "That's not necessarily a guarantee. Not to say that it -doesn't- work that way most of the time, but it might just be that Theresa's Vine is strong-willed..."
"But doesn't that just mean that the other Theresa's the one that's going to be perving on you instead?"
As mean as it might be, messing with them really is helping with my shitty mood.
"I'd rather not be perved on at all, actually," Irene mumbles.
"Oh, so you want to be the one doing the perving instead?" I ask. "Not that I cam blame you with the way Theresa's dressed now..."
I love that jogging outfit, I really do.
"Anyways," I say as I start towards the doorway, "I'll leave you to think on that."
And before either of them can say anything in protest, I make myself scarce.
>time to call the gabrielle
>check in on someone else in the house first
Reminder that if gangbang-chan pulls out all her teeth for orgies than she becomes better at blowjobs.
It looks like my lightened mood after teasing the living hell out of my friends was just a temporary fix, because I'm right back feeling shitty by the time I reach the top of the stairs. It might be because I'm approaching my room and that's where all this garbage with that Faceless asshole started, I dunno.
I just want my cactus back.
Peeking her head out of the bathroom, Charlotte calls out to me just as I'm about to step into my room. From this angle, it looks like she's got a towel wrapped around her body while she uses another one to dry her massive mane of hair.
"Hey," I say, waving to her. "The stuff with Irene's all sorted out so I was just about to call Gabrielle."
>I'll talk to you after I'm done
>you can finish drying off in my room if you want
"You can finish drying off in my room if you want," I say. "Just close the door behind you since just in case my Dad decides to wander around the house."
"Umm, sure," Charlotte replies.
While Charlotte hurries back into the bathroom to gather up her clothes, I take the one remaining step into my room and make my way over to the nightstand where I left my phone.
"Dammit..." I mutter under my breath as I pick up my phone and take a seat on my bed. "For all I know, he's gonna walk in here right now and steal this stupid thing too."
With her clothes in one hand and holding her towel on with the other, Charlotte walk into my room. It's a shame that I'm really not in the mood to mess around right now, because she's looking particularly hot with those wet strands of hair clinging to her neck and peeking down into her cleavage.
While doing my best to ignore the towel-clad girl who's decided to sit RIGHT next to me on the bed, I mess around with my phone until I finally find Gabrielle's name in my contact list.
Ringity ring ring.
Just when I'm about to give up, I hear a long yawn over the other side of the line.
"Whozzis?" Gabrielle asks. "Callin' me so friggin' early..."
>ease her into it
>use the amazing power of bad news to shock her awake
"It's Cecile," I say.
"...oh," Gabrielle yawns. "I'm not at Charlotte's place if that's what you were wonderin' about."
"No, that's not it. She's actually sitting right next to me."
I glance at her just in time to see her in the middle of putting on her bra.
"So you wanted to talk to me?" Gabrielle asks. "Or didja want Shary instead..."
"No, you're the one who I wanted t o talk to," I reply. "Sorry for waking you up so early."
"Way too early," she mumbles.
According to my radio clock thing, it isn't even 8:00 yet.
"Shary wanted to watch this show he likes but nobody put up the episode until like four in the morning..." Gabrielle yawns again.
"Sorry, I know this is early for you."
"It's early for ANYONE," she growls.
Clearly Gabrielle is not a morning person.
"So what did you need so early in the morning, anyways?" Gabrielle asks. "I thought Charlotte said you were supposed to be on Spring break this week."
"I am," I reply, "but umm..."
How do I put this as non-alarmingly as I can?
"You have all your stuff with you, right?" I ask.
"At Kevin's place, I mean."
"What, like my games and DVDs and computer and stuff? Yeah, it's right here."
"I'm lookin' right at it," she grumbles. "Why, did you want to borrow something?"
>everything's fine so let's let the gabrielle go back to sleep
>tell her about the faceless
>So it is up to nothing but luck that you get a branch that doesn't want to take over?
Yup. That's the primary danger of getting a Branch- nothing involved is even the least bit predictable.
>Where Faceless hides all the stolen stuff?
Naturally he hides his loot in his secret lair.
And of course it's located on the French riviera. Faceless is not French.
>Is there an inverse branch to cecile's somewhere out there that does shadow stuff?
Nope. I'm taking a cue from real-world stuff in that shadows are nothing more than the absence of light and not an actual thing. So no shadow control.
And now I sleep. Thanks for playing!

Wouldn't ice and fire be the same way then?
