Why is cutesy animu fantasy the best fantasy?
I'd not try to claim a genre or a subtype of a genre as superior to another as they have different things, ways, reasons and targets to portray and convey for, the same way you really can't say whether a helicopter or a block notes is absolutely better in lack of a reference point, situation or objective to compare the utility of these things.
Tl;dr: Comparisons need measure units.
Because it chooses to define for itself what is mature, without falling into the trap of being grimdark for the sake of being grimdark.
It's childish, but unrepentantly so.
Why is manly animu fantasy the best fantasy?
>weebs not realizing they are all the same subhumans
Weeaboos pls take your katanas and leave.
We have big-boy and big-girl things to discuss.
Isn't that a big GIRL thing, though? That's a woman, right? All animoo characters look like women to me.
Son, you really have no idea what 40K is if you think those were 40K images.
Slender bodies, feminine features, large eyes, lack of distinct musculature, well-styled hair....
Because simplicity and fun.
it's got just as much capacity to be shit as anything else; it's just an aesthetic choice after all, but it conveys a willingness to not take it's self seriously, and as such you go in expecting to have a good time. It doesn't even need to be animu, just colorful and lively.
>Calls others beta-peasants
>implying animes aren't drawn pants on head retarded 90% of the time
shoulders about as wide as a head each
other than he doesn't have a crew cut, none
the ones in your pictures are larger than his eyes
his eyes are normal human sized
>>lack of distinct musculature
point to you
>>well styled hair
you some kind of bara straight girl scum?
Because it's a lot easier to swallow the childish wish-fulfilment fantasy of gathering some friends and going on an adventure to save the world when the game doesn't take itself too seriously.
That said, I hate most anime-fantasy armour/outfits. They're almost always overdesigned, over-detailed messes with no sense of focus, contrast or economy.
>Motherfucker doesn't know the Glory of the Emprah
These ones are far too deep in heresy to be saved.
Purge this thread, brathas.
>being this butthurt that other people don't partake in your retardation
Maybe fuck off to one of the several chink circlejerk boards so you can get validated?
Just accept that /tg/ is about maids, magical girls, and samurai now.
Even your emperor has gotten with the times.
HOW DARE YOU VIOLATE THE EMPEROR WITH YOUR.... FILTH!
HERETIC SCUM I WILL DESTROY YOU
seriously, though, go home, /a/.
The fuck is wrong with her right tit
Um, I mean, HERESY!
You know that the emperor is now acute as fuck. Just look at her.
The way I see it, the ridiculously metal worlds of 40k and fantasy warhammer can easily go hand in hand with animu bullshit.
I'm sorry but could you run that by me again.
I think I misheard you, all I could hear was HERESY.
Is it bad I have a seething hatred for the obese?
Like, you've been given the gift of life and a human body and you waste it on grease and sugar. It just makes me irrationally angry.
Like if I can watch my calories and work out for an hour and a half a day so can you.
*Incomprehensible sheer and utter rage that would make any Angry Marine weep tears of angry pride*
>"FUCK YOU, I WAS HERE FIRST!!!" screamed the commander aboard the Litany of Litany's Litany, as he piloted his barge directly into the heart of the mutant hordes below.
>"NO FUCK YOU, I DEPLOYED THE FINGER!!!" Captain Temperus cursed back.
Something like this except with Black Templars
honesty question, does the emperor shave herself? or does she let her handmaidens to do it?
40k is fun, animu can be fun, fat people are just annoying and smell terrible.
One thing that drives me nuts is when they complain about their weight or how envious they are that I'm fit, and I offer to help them establish a good diet and mild, low-impact, exercise routine and they refuse.
Why complain when you won't try to change?
chubby is for when people know they're fat but don't want to admit it
slender is just another way of saying skinny
helicopter is way better bro. If anythin, the manual probably has as much blank space as in a block note. And if you're going to claim the manual isn't part of the helicopter, I dare you to fly without one.... air police will pull you over for the most minimum things.
Shitty example aside, your argument is actually good.
*Literally steam coming out of helmet in utter rage*
*Puts Chain Sword through computer screen*
....I shouldn't have done that. I. Should not. Have done that.
slender is the same as lean.
skinny is when you have ribs showing
skeleton is when you look like something out of a modern history book.
Chubby is when she's got Fs before she was pregnant, and a butt to match but her core is still smooth and not rolling over her pelvis.
How sensitive do you think the bottom of her feet are?
I think both are shit as well
In fact I'd wager that the Venn diagram of 40k fans and Animu fans has a massive overlap section. They share similar kinds of retardation
sorry, but /tg/ isn't 100% autistic middle schoolers. Some of us like proper fantasy and gaming.
Why is Goofy violence the best violence?
well yeah, if it was we wouldn't have proper animu and 40k threads, it'd be nothing but "I can't fucking stand X popular game/genre" hipster circle jerks if it was 100% autistic middle school students.
You're told that you'll have a thought out and consistently hosted game run for you and three others.
The host won't flake, and the effort put into it will be moderate to high.
The catch is that everyone in the group has to play females like pictures related or nothing happens.
Do you accept the ultimatum?
Is it bad that I actually liked this style?
I prefer to play male guardians of some kind.
Nothing better than protecting a party of doting daughteru's, making sure they're well fed and in bed on time.
>Not wanting to play Magic Knight Homu Homu or Paladin Meduca Meguca
>turning down the chance to play as a qt amine girl
>Is it bad that I actually liked this style?
No, I still think that Urushihara draws the greatest tits.
In SR I try and gloss over it when it's inevitable. But sometimes it's fun to make your players cry over their murderhobo actions.
I miss the days of Slayers.
Anything like that any more?
There is tons of good shit, it just isnt as popular that it would get turned into anime.
Fantasy as a genre got unpopular in Japan in the last few years. Even JRPGs are apparently struggling and thus as remedy basically everything gets filled up with cute girls and shit.
Rokka no Yusha and Bahamut were the most recent really good fantasy animu and of course the Sequel to Underwater Ray Romano.
Not everybody has shounen hero-tier willpower.
Some of us just... don't care anymore, you know? Like me. I'm never going anywhere important anyway, so why bother looking the part? That's time and energy that could be spent accelerating my own demise so I'm out of the way faster.
No, really. I'd already be gone if I weren't too afraid of bullets and pointy things to go through with it.
It's too civilized to be the best.
>never going anywhere important
But anon-kun, anywhere you go is important. There is no such thing as unimportant. You're only here for a blip on an infinite timeline, why not maximize your time and happiness?
Hrm. What about older stuff? I remember a couple shows from back in the day of TechTV that were 'European fantasy' styled but totally blanking on their names.
Why did anime shift away from better researched shows like GiTS, Last Exile, Black Lagoon. They were unmistakably anime, but their style and content seemed to reflect alot more forthought. Or just goofy but then serious like Slayers or PatLabor.
Today, or should I say since probably 2010ish it just seems to be 'wouldn't it be cool if...' and 'Dramatic fight scene, lots of fan service'
just started giving anime a shot again but the only shows I watched all the way through turned out to be 2006ish pieces (Black Lagoon and Ergo Proxy). Every thing new I couldn't get passed ep. 6 or so (LE: Senpai Silver Wing and Devil is a Part Timer)
Shadowrun, sorry. It's pretty edgy, though recently it's I dunno, less edgy than its older stories were.
I was trying to point out how when players go out of their way to be cruel and violent I don't let them look away from their own actions like it were offscreen violence.
>Etrian Odyssey Inspired Tabletop
I would play this SO fucking hard.
+ lets face it lads, heavy metal fantasy is the best
Overlord is another "D&D: The Anime", but its tone is pretty different (the protagonist is an epic-level lich, and exactly as paranoid as you'd expect someone like that to be).
Coffin Princess Chaika might also scratch an itch.
Rokujouma no Shinryakusha has some D&D elements. It may look like a generic harem anime for an episode or two, but that's really selling it short.
You knock that shit off and be happy, if you can't live for you, live for others. It's selfish to think you don't matter, your existence had dramatic impact on those around you and it's not just what you do for them, it's especially not what they get as a direct contribution but what they glean from your actions. Make it a positive effect.
You're more powerful than you could ever realise.
you just got to build their confidence, they can be a little koi at first.
OK, let's nix the "Animu is objectively best prove me wrong fgts" bullshit off the bat.
In my eyes, Fantasy and it's draw starts from childhood fairy tales. Those little picture books mom & dad would read you before bed to hopefully shut you up. As such there's the background of simple morals and comforting times with as a kid tucked into bed. The images of knights fighting dragons and woodsmen fighting wolves.
Japan of course has their own slough of fairy tales, that they put into their unabashedly simple Dragon Quest series of games, made to be bright, colorful, and cartoony. For a generation, this is what an RPG really is. A simple time bashing rows of slimes, getting gold, and fighting the demon king.
So while westerners always pursue the "Serious and mature for serious and mature people such as myself, unless it's comedy", Japan's (Asia in general?) pursuit of cute tends to make me think of the setting of those old picture books, and gives me a sort of nostalgia for it.
That, and their nearly complete disregard of western feminism + no significant Christian background with hundreds of years of "No no sex is badwrongfun unless married only in missionary position for children only" being drilled into their culture means that every now and again we get some pretty fantastic cheesecake that would never make it in western media.
Western media for Edgy Hardcore bloodbath Conan the Barbarian. Japan for Happy-go-lucky feel good kill monsters with "Colon three" faces. While I didn't like the grinding, I actually really liked the music, art direction, and atmosphere of Ragnarok Online (Yes, Korea), but still leave room for GrimdarkEdgy time.
I disagree in one area. Two actually, but the bit about japanese fairytales being sad and brutal doesn't really seem to impact their fantasy.
Confuscionism brought the same bdong ideology about sex being dirty, and having great amounts of shame about the body.
They'd basically been in the same Victorian prudery mindset as America was, but it was ingrained in their culture for hundreds upon hundreds of years. So, the big fanservicey bits are really brought on about by basement dwellers for basement dwellers. End result is the same though.
But that's just what I've gathered, I could be entirely misunderstanding history.
Sex maybe, but Japanese culture is REALLY big on bathing for a number of reasons, so people are used to seeing each other naked. Nudity is usually associated more with innocence than sex.
As a setting, ya. It's one of the most pathetically cringey settings out there in terms of how hard it tries to be edgy. 9.8 on the Anakin scale of bad writing as well.
Fun game though.
Yeah, pretty much this.
Of course, the thing that a lot of people tend to forget is that it's not supposed to be taken seriously. It's meant to be retardedly over-the-top and filled with jokey names and Epic Britbong HumoUr. I think a certain cringe is part of the intended reaction, same with WHFB.
Huh, I hadn't thought about it like that. It's kinda funny now that I think on it, because up till the black plague western culture was the same, you invited guests to bathe and chat when they came over.
>You're more powerful than you could ever realise.
Sure, I COULD do all that stuff, it's well within my limits, I could even achieve most of my reasonable dreams, I'm just out of hope and can't be bothered to try any more.
Alright maybe that was a bit harsh. Just... listen, I know depression can wreak havoc on you, and it can leave you not wanting to do anything. The only advice I can give you would be to force yourself.
It might feel like you'll never be happy again, but you can. You'll have to consciously force yourself to do it, even though you'll not want to. Think about yourself cut, trim, handsome, healthy, surrounded by girls, even if you don't really believe it'll happen.
At first, you won't want to. For the first week, you'll likely not notice results, and probably will start to get discouraged. But by the second week, you should start to notice things.
Not to mention, excercise releases endorphins that make you feel good. It might actually help with your depression. Excercise, a healthy diet, and scheduled meals.
Not only will the endorphins make you feel better, but the schedule and the diet might help keep your mind occupied, keep you from ruminating about your depression. Set goals for yourself. Count calories to keep your mind occupied. Make it a goal to improve your life.
You can do this. You CAN get better. Willpower isn't some inherent trait that you either have or don't have. It's a matter of forcing yourself to do something, even if you really don't want to.
Honestly, you don't even need to excercise every day. Just force yourself to do it four times a week, about an hour per day. Or however long you can if you seriously can't make it an hour. Goals and structure are very useful tools for fighting depression.
The food isn't a big problem for me, since I miss half my meals from laziness and have replaced snacks with fruits, which are nice. Technically I'm losing weight, just very slowly. I hope it's not muscle mass.
But the exercise, I've never gotten endorphins from that. I enjoy winning an arm wrestle or being better at a workout than someone who came with me, but strength, cardio, walking or any other exercise itself doesn't make me feel good.
Alone, I just stop, so the only times I exercise is when someone else is already doing so or I just lift a one handed weight in my free hand while on the computer.
It's hard to keep a routine of hard work with the result of feeling like shit. People telling me they feel good doesn't help the situation.
You're actually making some good steps already. Changing diet, exercise while idle.
My husband was in a similar spot as you, but it took a concentrated effort on my part to get him off soda, that shits just as bad as any drug.
Something I'd highly recommend if it's even close to possible is to skate/cycle to work or wherever you need to go regularly.
My cars busted and my work is only about 2.5 miles away so I skate there, my husband bikes, it seems like every other day he's adding a new notch on his belt. Myself, I'm getting stamina and butt muscles, I'm usually lazy as fuck, so for the first week I felt like I was going to throw up on my way there, but it got easier fast.
I say bike or whatever because unlike jogging you have to keep a pace, with jogging it's too easy to run yourself ragged then just give up and walk.
If you can't do any of that, sign up for Thai kick boxing, go 2 or 3 times a week.
Being the 2nd fattest guy I know (the only guy fatter is the giant who towers over people and owns the friendly local gaming store) and a bit active, kind of makes it's hard to find someone for me to compare myself to. My normal exercise buddy is the 2nd skinniest guy I know so it can't really be him.
But I'll keep that in mind. Might just go with a coworker, there's a couple guys I talk to who go to the gym a lot, one even offered for me to come along a few weeks ago.
I don't know how to ride a bike, though my brother could teach me, but I'm not especially keen on it so I probably won't. Work is tiring enough.
I may go do martial arts at the gym. Maybe boxing, I don't like kicking since it lets people smaller than me knock me over. I've been meaning to go to at least one session, though what I've of the boxers sound pretty intense so I never went.
Well, I'll go to the gym next week or this weekend for something. Even if I'll just fall back to doing nothing the week after. I'm still hoping I get dragged there, so I don't have to use my own willpower.
If you're not actively working out, you increase the amount of muscle lost during weight lose, but when ever you have a calorie deficit you always loose some muscle. That's just how the human body works. The amount the you loose and the rate it's lost at depends on hormone levels, physical activity and your macro's.
Set goals and record your progress, when you meet them, share that with other people, but don't tell them your next checkpoint. Save that for when you meet it so you can tell them again.
The fastest way to loose weight however is in the kitchen. It's all diet. But you do not want to drop your intake too low otherwise it'll have terrible effects on your body. Loosing too much weight too quickly is dangerous and no matter how overweight you are, not eating anything for extended periods (weeks) can kill you depending on your activity levels so don't starve yourself.
Keep doing what you're doing and gradually improve, you'll get there.
diablo then, 2 billion crits in diablo 3 already, dear god. fuck it lets use floating point for hp calculations why the fuck not.
claiming to hate anime due to power lvls is retarded, it's an art style more than anything else.
I've always wondered: Do the people who hate animu power scaling also hate DC and Marvel and other comics/cartoons?
The power scales in comics (while seemingly static at times) is unfathomably immense.
pre-reboot superman held a black hole in his palm, and used chains to pull planets.
The hulk survives the heat death of the universe, the phoenix fought galactus in single combat, and I'm sure there's even more ridiculous things going on.
Complaining about how ever the top animes are is pointless when American media is filled with the same shit, just in some case's it's supposed to be taken seriously or pretends to have some deep meaning behind it all.
Even western video games like TES and CoD and Mass Effect have unbelievably fantastic, over done and exaggerated, plots and events.
It's a part of storytelling and has been since man first sat around a campfire and talked to one another.
>Why is grimdark British fantasy the best fantasy?
Cute sci-fi? Who has ever heard of such a thing?
But no, I don't have any for some reason.
Says the guy trying to ruin a perfectly good thread with smelly dwarfs.
Not true you could always add more ugly dwarfs or space marines.
Now cute dwarfs and space marines are fine. Feel free to post those.
>perfectly good thread
This is just the daily/weekly /a/ dump, there's nothing good about it.
Least it's not another "sex with sister of battle y/n?" "sex with ork y/n?" "Is XXX lewd?" "Elf stuck in a wall wat do?" or all the other garbage that fills this thread every hour of every day.
Replacing garbage with garbage is still filling the board with garbage. If you absolutely need your animu on /tg/, make a thread about statting characters from Record of Lodoss War, and actually stat said characters. Ya know, something constructive.
Then fill it with substance appropriate to the thread instead of just complaining that other people enjoy something you don't like.
Or we can talk about setting and character ideas, why we enjoy the cute animu style settings and characters, and exchange possible character art, instead of trying to shit on someone's thread with space marines, gore, and pointless arguments.
>Or we can talk about setting and character ideas, why we enjoy the cute animu style settings and characters, and exchange possible character art
Is that what you call this? Because it's not. It's just dumping anime, with absolutely no discussion aside from "X a cute!". This is /tg/ people, we're supposed to have a semi-good level of discussion.
So I'm guessing you go shit on 40kid threads when someone starts dumping art right?
Relax pal, someone was dumping images, oh well.
And you can't really blame people for not bothering to a hold a discussion when people like you wander in and start complaining.
You know what I can't wait for?
To finally be able to break this game out again.
gotta save up for the expansions.
But not until I get that 3D printer I've been saving up for.
dunno, here's the original, though translating the copyable text below the image doesn't get much information.
From his other stuff, I feel like he wishes he was making games.
Well, I'm out.
You know how some westerners are weebs but still infuse it a bit with the Eurocentric touch? Same thing with Berserk; creator's a huge anglophile, but he still throws cutsy fairies and unkillable young scrappy kids in the mix.
Hmm... Maybe I should make a game that uses only type of die (I think a d6 would be best) but have the characters designed by having "slots". The levels are not really levels, they are the number of slots one has. Each slot is an ability that always nets you a little health but is usually a spell or an attack (maybe a bonus to defense too or something).
Sounds fun. I'd go with d6, five or three base attributes, and have each skill, technique, or spell tie into at least on other thing in an easy to follow skill web, to help track prerequisites for more powerful skills but not force any one single requirement preferably.
Slots can be filled with one of three things:
Skills (typical skills like knowledge, crafting, swimming, etc)
Techniques (Weaboo fightin magic, as well as things to make mundane skills more fun/interesting to use.
Magic (Spells, Rituals, things to make mystical skills more fun/enjoyable)
You will never ride a T-Rex while carrying a nuke.
I find that cutesy animu fantasy can be fun if done with the right people and the right mindset. If you go in fully expecting a light hearted chucklefest with maybe some drama here and there, you'll have a great time.
If you run in with the mindset of hard western fantasy, you'll most likely be at a loss in terms of enjoyment.
I find that mixing the two on occasion can make some positive results, as long as you don't go overboard on one or the other. Then again, I'm partial to running my games like how fallout plays with Wild Wasteland enabled. That can give plenty of wiggle room for both the cutesy animu fantasy and the western serious fantasy.
Two resource pools is enough. Attacks don't use resource points and are weaker than spells but can be used pretty constantly.
Should there be a maximum number of slots, or should the characters keep gaining them? How about upgradable slots?
Forte has it going pretty good, aside from being stuck in a town with Doug in it.
And Lest/Frey overtaking her years of training in a week.
I dislike anime because it has the exact same art style as a cartoon. I'd like anime if it had more detail than "MS paint colored" everything.
So, can we all admit that cutesy animu fantasy is top tier then?
>Whitesmiths better than Blacksmiths
this nigga serious?
You're reminding me of how annoyed I am at not saving that old "anime vs comic books" with the westaboo constantly shitting on anime while cheering similarly ridiculous things in comic books.
Someone post it.
I've never really understood the appeal in the whole tomboy having girly moments thing. I just like the tomboys as shown. Which I hadn't noticed it was a thing until someone on /aco/ explained that's one of the main reasons they like tomboys.
Personally, I think it's breaking character. Being relaxed around friends is one thing, but a lot of the times they turn into a completely different person, worse in the cases when they wish people treated them like a girly girl.
okay, I get that, I just don't think it's more adorable for having a tomboy/serious lady knight behave that way. But I guess lots of people like strong contrast or something, like lewd clerics and such.
She threatens to murder you on the spot if you even open your mouth.
Does this fit cutesy anime fantasy?
White mages are the best.
Remember that the gods are watching over you.
Even when you're holding a festival dedicated to the Goddess of Healing, which features a follower of another god tied up for public beatings.
of course not, it's all this big play, the beating is real but it's a representation of the hateful past. the beatee gets healed by a priestess dressed as the goddess as this whole forgiveness thing and to teach folks to stop beating people for no reason. It's all very symbolic.
No, her followers are just fucking insane, like everybody else in that world.
The gods of that world aren't exactly the sanest bunch either. The God of Earth will never stop fucking laughing, the Goddess of Luck is obsessed with cats, the Goddess of Wind is a nudist/sadist, and the Goddess of Healing is a
So, has anyone even played a cutsy anime inspired game before? I sorta want to play pic related...
Yacatect gives you a bird that shits all over the place as a companion.
Jure gives you a paladin that will save you from the brink of death.
The bird shits POWER, anon.
Also her god weapon is a throwing coin, you can't even deny that's awesome.
actually I usually worship Kumiromi because I'm incapable of playing a game like this without turning it into Harvest Moon, but Yacatect has a better rack
Well, there's no reason to not go through every god so you can claim all of their gifts anyway, and
Kumiromi has a 10/10 passive bonus anyway. I just like having Prayer of Jure too much.
Not always, if the image is small enough in the first place it doesn't get resized.
I can't grab these off of pixiv again anyway, since the artist deleted his account.
Nah, she's a insecure god who pretends to be tsundere for her followers. Although she's also jealous of how "big" Ehkatl is.
If you pulled off their wings, would they die?
Thread auto saging? That's too bad. Not that I had anything to contribute.
I can't help but think of all the simultaneous lewd things one could do to themselves with 4 arms.
>Not worshipping Lulwy
It's like you guys don't want to go fast.
