You send 5 Drone scouts back to the tower to search it. They manage to trudge through the water and reach the entrance. Upon looking inside, they see nothing but broken furniture and pottery, which they ignore for now. There is a spiral staircase heading up, which they take. The same seems to be on every floor, with an increasing number of gemstones protruding from the walls, which seem interesting.

Upon reaching the peak, you see an altar, covered in red crystals. There is a strange aura around this altar. As one of your drones approaches it; Ruby Crystalids burst from the veins on the walls. They don't seem friendly.
Your Drones grip their spears tighter and look at the imposing figures advancing on them.

Your Drones splutter and try to parley with the Crystalids. The creatures stop and listen to your wispy hisses for a few moments. You use hand gestures along with your desperate attempts to keep them from attacking you. They seem to understand that you don't want to fight, and they signal to your spears. You drop them.

The Crystalids lower their crystal swords. They still give you invasive looks, and you can feel energy brimming within them. One of the beings casts some form of spell, and suddenly speaks to you.
"We don't need bloodshed here. I feel that we can come to a mutual understanding. My name is Qerx, and these are my people." He enquires as to what your names are, and what the name of your civilisation is. "We have been studying you for a few weeks, and we think that you are a marvellous species. If you would but offer up 10 of your people to be examined by us, we could make it worth your while? Our crystals are filled with ancient energy, and we suspect that you may be able to harness it. What say you?"

Got a TL;DR version of the quest history?
>>
>>37291547
We grow from feeding spores fertilizer, 27 drones 9 brutes. We are setting up for winter and if these crystals are magic possibly magic myceneains
>>
>>37291547
Well, the quest is rather new, so we build spear, vine bolas and granary.

We create new member of our tribe by using weird material to create new one. One huge herbivore create a huge myceanae for us, Look at the pic above. They're huge and strong but docile. Gentle giant.

And then we meet crystal guy.
>>
>>37291409
Ask what they mean by "examine"? Will our men return Unharmed? Or at least alive?
>>
You accept the offer of the Crystalids. They allow you to leave without issue, and ask that you come back within the week with the subjects. Then the trade will occur. You head back to your home.

Upon your return, you can instantly spot the new arrivals, with their green stems and violet caps. They seem the same in every way to the drones, except for their vibrant colour.

You tell the rest of the tribe about the offer. There are worries, but people agree that it's an opportunity that shouldn't be passed up.

The next morning, the first snow falls.

None of you have seen snow before, and you are quite confused. It doesn't affect you, but you do notice that the Bronto calf is hiding in its shelter more frequently.

Activity goes on as normal, and preparations are made to send the 10 Drones off to be experimented on. Whilst people are saying their goodbyes, one of the Violetshrooms apparently sneezes. Everybody looks surprised, but not nearly as surprised as when they notice the green mist that shot from the pores on it's cap. The green mist descends and covers you all in tiny droplets, before dripping onto the floor. A sizzling sound soon follows, as you realise that the green fluid is burning through the leaves and sticks under your feet...

You send your Drones out into the clearing to spread their Polyps, reinvigorating the Crimson overnight.

In the mean time, the Bronts are building a large building for your people to call home. The Brontoceanea shift around the bricks, whilst the Violetshrooms organise and supervise them. They build with haste, as Winter is imminent.
The building is huge however, so may take a while with just the Bronts building.

You notice also, that when the calf emerges, it looks much bigger, possibly even an adolescent now, and it has a shaggy coat of fur to keep it warm.

You send off the subjects, led by a Drone to return the crystal, they look nervous; but assurances calm them down.

The town hall is about halfway done, the walls are completed and done with care to ensure insulation. Obviously the Violetshrooms see to this, there's no way that Bronts are that careful.

Meanwhile, the remaining Drones head out in search of food. They find the Bronto herd by the lake that you found earlier. They are splashing around and playing, you think it's cute. Your spears fly and bolas whirl through the air. You've become quite proficient with killing these now. You capture another calf, as well as an adult. You also manage to kill an adult Bronto. It takes a couple of trips to take them all back. You put the live Brontos in the paddock, they are distressed, but calm slightly upon meeting your domesticated Bronto. Although they are still agitated and will need taming.

Your granary is full of food! It is also noteworthy that one of the spears thrown at the bathing Brontos was withdrawn with a strange looking animal caught on the end. It had scales and fins and seemed to breathe underwater. Maybe it would be worth looking at come the Winter's end...

You continue to build the Town Hall. Putting every man you can into the efforts, you finish it ahead of schedule.

It's homely, and warm inside. There are large trenches in the floor at intervals, full of soil. The perfect place for Myceanea to get some sleep. There are tables and stools made from hardened mud, as well as cushions made from Crimson grass.

As you all are sat down feasting on dead leaves and roots; the final Drone enters, carrying a hefty red crystal. He plants it on the table and starts eating ravenously. Looks like he may have had a bit of trouble getting back with all of the snow.

You all stare into the fiery crystal and see the mystic burning energy swirling within.

Everybody is thinking the same thing, but people are nervous. What could possibly spawn from this ancient magic?

You all hurry out into the blizzard and plant the crystal in the cultivated Crimson. It is soon blanketed with snow, and you all head back inside before you get lost in the storm.

>>>Don't check the image until you've read it!

Your people use their time indoors to start testing some new ways of capturing live animals, without having to resort to bolas. Many ideas are tossed about, and eventually, using similar ideas to the bolas, a trap is dreamt up that involves entangling the creature and raising it into the air so that it can't free itself. This snare trap is easy to make with vines and twigs from the forest.

The occasional check outside shows that 2 Polyps have grown, however they are blanketed in snow so no indication of their nature can be discerned.

A few of the traps are created, and are set in close proximity, so that you aren't caught out in the blizzard.

After a few days of boredom and gluttony, the blizzard subsides and you exit the town hall.

Before you are two new Myceanea.

They are taller than Drones, but shorter than Bronts. They are both bright red with yellow stripes, with muscled yet agile limbs. Rather than caps adorning their heads, they have a mass of red tentacular appendages protruding from their heads instead. The tentacles seem to be prehensile, and are grabbing at anything in their proximity with cautious curiosity.

The Myceanea themselves have glowing red eyes. You quickly notice the swirling mists of energy surrounding their red claws; they are definitely magically talented...

But what is their speciality..?

>Thank you so much for playing everybody, I should be continuing this sometime next weekend. I'll post the archive link for this if you stick around!
