Yeah. I'll cut you real good with this baseball bat. Real good.

If your system is gritty and detailed enough to model bleeding damage, sure. Such a system should also model infection, risk of gangrene, and probably dysentery and the effects of poor diet. And that's wonderful if you like that much grit and detail, but that's a very specific game type and system.

Unrest within the Golgari Swarm!
The unexpected return of Vraska!
Hints towards a massive power play!

I have to wonder if Vraska's endgame is simply to command the Golgari of if there's something more to it. I'd like to believe she's an agent of Bolas and we don't know it quite yet, but how the Golgari Swarm can exactly serve the Elder Dragon's ends remains a mystery to me. A veritable Terracotta Army at Vraska's disposal certainly seems useful though!

So, about 2 weeks ago I think, some guy by the name of Wayne claimed he'll be running a campaign for fetlife users(a social media and meetup site for various fetishists and BDSM oriented people) and post regular updates of how it goes, he was at the stage of recruiting players by the end of first thread. What's up with that? Is the project still alive? Were there any new threads that I missed?

Well then... Guess it is time for a bit of a project update.

In the one week since then, two more players have joined, and I was really just waiting on one more player to join up before I'd post again, and actually produce something entertaining for you folks.

Give me a bit, and, as promised, I'll give you a bit of a summary on each player, and their preferred fetishes.

Rather than space marine space marines, wouldn't it be more accurate to call primaris space marines the SM equivalent to what imperial storm troopers are to the astra militarum?

They are trained in a completely separate place to normal initiates, and are not part of the chapter traditions just like how stormtroopers are all schola prognium graduates. Further more, rather than the often inherited wargear of most chapters, the primaris are equipped with entirely new equipment made for them specifically.

Hotshot lasgun=cawl bolter
Mars=schola prognium

TL;DR Primaris are to the SM what stormtroopers are to the IG

I joined a Ryuutama campaign a few weeks ago, but it's too early for me to say much about the system yet. The collective world-building aspect is nice though.
>>
>>53530701
Played it for a bit. Problem was it fell apart later. You need to correct sort of players and also your sessions shouldn't drag out as much as a normal RP.

The sessions need to be more concise as well the gm needs to be pretty good at improvising and RPing.

Hello friends, I am in a bit of a pickle.
See, I know a ton about firearms, as they are a passion of mine, but my experience with them in RPG's has been limited. I am working on a little homebrew system, pretty generalized, but the firearms and other weapons are intended to be well-explained and have good stats.

My problem comes in when determining a good way to use dice to scale firearm damage, from caliber to caliber. There was a thread the other day about firearms in settings, and in that thread some people talked about how damage from firearms is an abstract sort of thing. But I feel like there has to be more to this.

So my questions are: In your experience, which system stats firearms properly, making their effectiveness and use similar to their real-life counterparts?

What is the best example of reloading a firearm, that you have seen? Did it take a full round to do, or just a part of your turn to do?

I am capable of determining the relative damage of individual calibers, but my issue comes in when selecting which dice to use for which caliber.
At what point is it better to use 2d4 instead of 1d8? That kind of thing. Thanks in advanced, I will be around for discussion.

Ops & Tactics
>>
>>53528495
The damage dice would also depend on how big the HP pools for characters and other creatures are. 1d8 or 2d4 might not be appropriate if the average character has around 100 HP. It also depends on how lethal you want guns to be. Do you want tanky characters to be able to take a dozen bullets and keep on fighting, or do you want guns to be so lethal that it's more like a game of rocket tag?
>>
>>53528495
oWoD. They get that rifles are more deadly than pistol rounds and that shot placement is King.

Beyond that, Ops and Tactics, Recon and Cyberpunk 2020 are the gold standard

How do I determine roughly how much of a currency should exist in a fantasy game? I've got players who are sticklers for economic escapades, capitalism ho and all that.

It's an interesting question, but it's not one I know how to answer, unfortunately. That said, it's probably going to matter more how the money gets produced than how much of it there is at a give time. At least for the players. Similarly the nature of the world's various economies is going to matter, as will the nature of international trade.

When I design the economic systems of a setting, I tend to work with the stuff I know more about, and leave things as broad strokes early on. Set up nations/city-states/provinces/whatever, figure out what sort of industries they rely on, where raw materials come from, what sort of food comes from what places, their level of technology, how magic works, etc. Population figures are important too, and general politics between and within groups. Who grants what monopolies where is also big, as are laws relating to land ownership and the right to transport goods.

Usually along the way I'll find things I don't know enough about, but often enough I can get a good approximation on Wikipedia. If not... then probably the players won't know either, and I can fudge it.

That said, it's a good idea *not* to play that sort of game if any of your players are economists and you aren't. Unless you actually want to go out and do some work to find out about how the economy worked earlier in history, in which case you can have some really nice 'gotcha!' moment where they try something that works in the modern world, it doesn't work in-game, and you get to explain why.
>>
>>53521890
Remind them that most D&D settings take place in worlds that experience periodic civilization-ending cataclysms that routinely push humans back to the stone age every few thousand years, and that there is no global economy. Most of the gold in a dragon's hoard is unaccounted for because the nation that minted it vanished ten thousand years ago.

That said, if your players will enjoy spreadsheets instead of dungeon crawls, more power to them.
>>
>>53521890
On mobile atm, but one thing to remember is that gold wasn't used just because it was shiny: it was used as a method of boosting confidence. If everyone uses gold, no one can hyper inflate and rip everyone else off.

The problem is this puts a limit on growth, which is why we moved off of it. The economic model of D&D then, seems pretty obvious to me. All races in D&D are trying to maximise their share of the world's gold supply.

If you're the treasurer or fiscal head of a major kingdom, then having a bunch of adventurers go in and steal all the gold is incredibly effective and cheap. You eliminate a group of competitors, you bring their gold supply under human control. Yes, it's owned by adventurers, but adventurers are actually pretty fucking dumb, live quick die hard types. They're going to spend the money like the bejeesus, because they might die tomorrow. Thus adventurers act as walking, traveling stimulus.

Tl;dr- Keynesian stimulus in D&D is accomplished by genocide, and is the only way to continue growing the economy

Meanwhile on Dragon /tg/...
(Thread was good last time, Making another)

Hey Draganons, Got a question for ya. What's the craziest/best/Stupidest thing the lesser race adventurers have done in your presence?

I'll start:
>Be me
>Be only about 800 years old, long ago
>Watching over my hoard, Counting up some of my latest loot, when I hear some explosion down the hall.
>At first, I assume it's one of my brothers come to kill me and steal my stuff, so I ready up
>Suddenly, these five humanoids scurry in, think two were elves, one definitely smelled like a Dwarf.
>They Don't even say anything, the just start charging my hoard.
>I ain't having it, so of course I use my breath weapon on them.
>Suddenly their two casters, instead of charging, just Blast a bunch of explosive spells at my perfectly oganized hoard, and completely ruin everything.

>They don't even try to take the most valuable stuff, they just Grab some of the falling coins and use spells to teleport away.

What in the name of Tiamat happened?

It's a new strategy mortal adventurers use. See, mortals don't actually need a lot of gold. They just need enough.

And with limited teleportation scrolls getting cheaper and easier to make, dashing in and grabbing pocket change means they can make a living just stealing clawfuls of gold and dashing.

Of course, what this boils down to is GET SOME TELEPORTATION BLOCKERS, YOU DOUBLE WYVERN!
>>
Its not even the fact that these mortals dare steal our gold but, trying to disorganize your horde? I hope they get their comeuppance OP

Stupidest thing? Easy.

>Be all-powerful red dragon
>Demand tribute from puny human gold-mining town
>Tell them to build a giant statue in my honor in one month's time or else
>Return one month later to check on statue
>It's bronze

And that's why that land is a charred hellscape.
