I'm a little upset at how we lost Doctrina Imperatives and gained the weakest form of Canticles (and nothing else) as a replacement.

It seems like most things are slightly more expensive, save for Sicarians and Electro Priests. I am hoping that we will get a transport of some kind now, particularly since we lost crusader as an army rule.

Kataphrons seem ok, and I'm 100% fine with Grav Weapons being as they are now- I was never happy with how bad they were against lightly armored infantry.

I'm actually a bit confused, why do people say Rangers are bad? They're noticeably worse than necron warriors, who, at a similar points cost, get -1 AP all the time in addition to Reanimation Protocols, but what makes them bad (as opposed to worse than a similar but out-of-faction unit?

LotW's abstracted to the point you could mostly deal with the magitech via Internal techiques, Secret Arts and Legendary Weapons/Transcendant Techniques.

LotW Comes with the default caveats though, the core book is a busted clusterfuck of awful editing and unclear rules that makes it way harder to use than necessary. If you can get past that, it's amazing, but it's a goddamn huge barrier to entry.

Some context here. I'm trying to start a 5e dark fantasy game soon and the players just kind of want to play LG do-gooders without having to sacrifice anything, and they also seem to be fishing for a magical solution to keep their characters alive level 1 through 20 just because "anon they have a backstory. and we don't want to play storyless dummies, it's DEEP IMMERSION YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND". Should I find another system or players

Well I finished up a Shadow War Armageddon Inquisition kill team. Now that 8th is out I was thinking about expanding it out to a full army.

I looked up the rules and I can take Crusader squads to get storm shields, but they can only have Power Swords. I threw this guy together with a skitarii taser as a counts as, since I don't like the idea of riot police with swords, even in 40k. The Acolyte squads can have most of the special weapons and pistols and close combat weapons, I'm not sure how I want to outfit them. Flamers seem cool, meltaguns and plasma too.

Author should have gotten an editor to knock some sense into him/get him to cut out all the stupid shit/do some research into how stuff like pre-gunpowder battles work.

As it is, the first one is a solid 7/10 the rest can be skipped.

The problem is that while there is lots of things you can do for a unique game of 40k, there's not much you can do for a Standardised game of 40k.

I bought some resin kits from Armorcast recently, really happy with them. Great casting quality and quick to assemble. Heres a pic of one I made with some red bull cans. The stripes on the can came from a roll of tape I found at a hardware store. Its super useful, just measure and cut to size.

A full-blown infestation: A village of 1,000 homes finds itself fending off dozens of giant insect attacks every week. The players are enlisted to destroy the source of the infestation which is likely a next housing an extra large female or mated pair. Even after destroying the source, care must be taken to eradicate all of the new potential couples or it will just happen again in a month or two.
