Asking again. Anyone have advice for running Rivergard Keep? Characters are only level 3... I'm thinking I should drop a couple bandits/reavers, but I'm not sure. Maybe only if they go full retard and try to storm the place?
Ok, I got this Idea in my head hope you guys like it. Planet named in honour of Malcador. Beeing lost from the records due to the constant fuckups and managed to avoid Ecclesiarchy and pretty much follow the orginal Ideas of Big E. Got a Manufactor that can produce and repair the Malcador Heavy Tank and its devirats and its the standart Tank of the PDF and it runs as fast as it was intended. Since none of their space travelers returned (nobody remebered the place so the ship where shot down) they gived up building void ships and just have some deviarts from voidships to defend the system. After some fighting they decided to build a democratic system to rule the planet/system. Now in the wake of the Big Blue beeing awake again they get rediscovered. By whom and what will happen? I hope you guys are with me in the brainstorming.
>>53675668
Alpha legion runs the planet in conjunction with the grey knights. Everybody is a space marine or a clone.
As opposed to alpherius, everyone is named malcador.

No it isn't. Its perfectly within your tastes, you absolutely love it. In fact you're thinking of a porno for it right now.

Alt history where British rule of North America didn't dissolve so readily (maybe the French failed to bail out the revolution) and Canada becomes this massive north American powerhouse. Some weirdness in the 20th century leads to a Canadian born Napoleonic/Hitler figure expanding the reach of the noble British empire even further, and before you know it, the world has timmies on every corner and guard-geese in every rcmp office headquarters.

You don't need any more weirdness. One of those was born.

Is it wrong for a GM to have a PC that goes with the party and represents them as a player too?
From what I've read around here people don't like it and see it as bad practice, but I as a player don't really see what's wrong with it as long as they keep the same rules applied to the rest of the party. As a possible future GM I'd love to have a special NPC who is a part of the party without necessarily babysitting them. As a possible future GM, I'd love to have a character in the party that travels and grows alongside the players, besides the usual "use a few times and throw away" NPCs I've seen used so much, but I don't know how well that thought sits with other players.
>>53660214
It's bad because as much as you may tell yourself they don't, the GMPC will always have advantage over the other PCs due to your knowledge of the campaign.
>>53660214
What could possibly go wrong?

>love playing magic
>fucking hate deck building
I will draft and play commander all day long, but I have yet to build my own deck. I am the only person in my group who has yet to build his own deck. When I try to build decks I get too many ideas at once and give up midway through. Plus once I finish something and I check the price I get discouraged and I try to water it down, thus making it shittier.
How do I cure this?
>>53655353
Find a list on the interwebs and build that deck? If the price is too high, buy proxies, print them,or play pauper
>>53655353
>hate deckbuilding
that's half the fun! but >>53655588 gives the advice. if you worry about what idea to go with, ask yourself "What do I want to cause?" and build your way to do that.
Stop putting in cards you like, just because you like them. Pick a way you want win, and every card ask "does this card help me win?" This definitely helps when going through cards. And if you still have trouble, just make different decks for each 'sub-theme'.
As for the price:Yep. Hobbies cot money, and MtG is a notoriously expensive one. Some cards are absurdly expensive for what they are, but that's just life. I own several $1k+ Legacy and EDH decks, 3 modern decks and a plethora of shitty, janky casual bullshit decks. And if every single one of them dropped to 10 bucks, i wouldn't care. I play the game for fun and leisure, not a status sybol
ITT: Post things that aren't necessarily wrong, but just rub you the wrong way when gaming
For me, it's "Clear and hold" approaches to large dungeons. It's so thematically jarring, to have your 4-6 murderhoboes descend on a dungeon, and then methodically kill everything in every room, and take everything more valuable than floor mold away from it. I enormously prefer smash and grab type gameplay, where the resistance mounts steadily higher and is too strong to overcome, and eventually the party is reduced to flight. But when I tell this flat out, and actually build dungeons with powerful monsters that become gradually aware of the party and will eventually converge and smash, I tend to get a lot of complaining, even if it was agreed on at session 0.
>Everything in this fantasy setting has to be grounded in reality and make sense and satisfy my autism or else I will throw a shitfit for an hour about how you're an awful GM.
I mean, it doesn't even make me angry anymore. It's just depressing. It's fantasy, wacky shit can happen for no reason.

When there's one option that the developer(s) clearly favored over all the other options. It has the most fluff, the most detailed descriptions and the most background material of anything else, and is either much more powerful than the others or much more versatile, often to the point that just having one will invalidate characters who chose other options.
Take Helbrutes now?

Newfag here. I'm thinking of getting into 40k with the new edition. Can I now mix Khorne Chaos demons freely with Khorne CSM and Cultists and stuff and still got the Battle Forged Army Bonus, since they all belong to the same faction (Chaos)?
I'm confused about the ruling of Battle Forged Armies. As far as I understand it, as long as my units have the Chaos Faction keyword they can all be taken for a battleforged army detachment?

So what other homebrew IG regiments and SM chapters are out there? What I know of are Argo Brigade and Hua Yuan IG regiments.
There was a dude doing a codex for Arho Brigade, hopefully he sees this and posts the end result.
>>53644391
I've been mulling over making my own homebrew IG regiment, but I don't know if my idea has been done before.
Basically, they'd be a mixed-gender armored regiment from a death world covered in radioactive desert. Their planet was colonized during the Dark Age of Technology and lost to the rest of humanity during the Age of Strife. Gradually the inhabitants descended into warring factions, which in turn left to a nuclear holocaust that reduced the planet from an Earth-like temperate climate to a hot and irradiated rock. Water is scarce, and clean water scarcer. However, the planet is still rich in mineral resources, a fact exploited by the people who survived the atomic hellfire and struggled to rebuild a society. They managed to create small-scale factories and oil refineries out of the ruin and scrap. Tribes formed around these centers of something resembling industry, because these factories were almost exclusively used to build vehicles. Using these vehicles to traverse the massive deserts that cover the planet, the tribes scavenged to survive and warred with other tribes.
When the Imperium rolled up and conquered the planet, things got a little better for the average inhabitant with the advent of things like "reliable water filtration" and "food importation".
>>53645293
They readily associated the Emperor with their own gods, but managed to miff the Adeptus Mechanicus because they already had their own superstitions about machine spirits in the form of their personalized and highly modified vehicles. Their rituals were a little too different, and their readiness to modify STC pattern machines borders on heresy to the Techpriests. Each vehicle issued to the regiment is painted and modified by its crew, much to the Techpriests' annoyance. They usually paint designs on virtually every piece of equipment they get their hands on, as the custom on their world was to intimidate enemy tribes with brightly painted absurdist symbols and phrases. Now they incorporate Imperial motifs into their war paint.
Regardless, they were raised to fight for the Imperium on other worlds, putting their driving skills to use on new Imperium vehicles like the Russ, Salamander, and Taurox. Their thirst for blood needs to be reigned in some times, as their tank crews have a tendency to jump out of their vehicles and engage in melee with enemy infantry, as is custom on their world. They prefer explosives and projectile weapons to las weapons.
Aesthetically, they take cues from Road Warrior and Tank Girl. Probably been done before though.

Any new findings with the released material? Any games so far? Who did you fight, what did you bring, and how did it go?
I recall someone saying that Pulse Accel drones stacked on Firewarriors. Reading their rules, it seems specifically worded such that they do not stack, same with the bonus shot from a Cadre Fireblade. It's all "if X is within Y range of a Z, then get bonus". There's no clause for being within range of multiple sources of a given buff.
>>53636819
The wording of Fireblades and Accelerators are actually different,
Fireblades
>Models in <Sept> units within 6" of *any friendly <Sept> Cadre Fireblades* (etc.)
This does not stack, "Any" could be 1 or 1000 and it would only apply the aura once.
Accelerator
>T'au Empire Infantry units within 3" of a friendly Pulse Accelerator drone have the range of (etc.)
The "Any" limitation here doesn't apply, the aura stacks infinitely.
It can be argued that it shouldn't stack, and almost certainly isn't intended, but the difference in wording is important.
I tend to lean towards RAI normally, but in competitive games RAW can make a great deal of difference
