If you play power level you don't have to worry about points.
My friend wants to run a game in the wild west with giant monsters in it as well. What would be a good system? He says he doesn't want GURPS, as it's too general, although he'd take it if he had to.
Pic unrelated
GURPS
Deadlands
>>53718036
>it's too general
What?
If he doesn't want to play GURPS, you can try Savage Worlds. It has Deadlands supplements that you can use, and you can theoretically do monster hunting in it. 1 vs. Many fights in RPGs tend to go south for the 1 pretty fast, though, so make sure you follow the usual rules for boss fights.
Nimzo-Indian edition
>>53717656
Hey look, a real opening. Maybe that Bill Wall cocksucker will avoid the thread.
Who is up for a game?
https://lichess.org/Uw2nmjMO
The Nimzo is probably my favorite of the Indian Defenses. I don't like the QID and KID that much, too boring.
>>53717696
You can do a similar tactic to the Ruy Lopez by moving 4. a3, forcing the Black bishop to either retreat or take the knight, although by doing so Black gives up his bishop pair for the weaker bishop+knight combo. The tradeoff is supposed to be giving White a weak doubled c pawn after 5. bxc3.
Has anyone here ever run or played MAID before? What was it like?
A refreshing change of pace because you roll characters you would never create yourself, so you need to step out of your comfort zone and roleplay more daringly than you would otherwise.
>>53717653
I played MAID not to long ago, it's a lot of fun but does require a good GM because it's really light and thus very reliant on good fluffing or players doing crazy shit.
>>53717666
How easy is it to adapt MAID into other settings? For example, running a game where the maids are actually members of a space pirate crew and the Master is the captain of the ship?
Paizo Games General /pgg/ (Pathfinder & Starfinder, formerly /pfg/)
Friendly reminder that Starfinder martials are still objectively inferior to casters and that Paizo doesn't give a shit about C/MD.

Paizo is literally the worst. More 3pp stuff!
So for my character in JttW I've nearly settled on a Prophet (Perform (Tea Ceremony) instead of Perform (Dance)) Covetous cursed Intrigue mystery Oracle | Geisha Demagogue Bard.
I'm thinking of switching out Demagogue for Celebrity, but my overall ability to support falls because I no longer have Inspire Courage, but then again I'm a celebrity.
What do you guys think? Demagogue or Celebrity?

We literally don't know that, though. Until we get the damn game in hand, we literally have no idea.
Imagine a society of creatures that use math as only language.
What do you imagine them to be? Would they create art in form of complex geometry and fabulous equations? Would they ever create humanitarian sciences?
I think all sorts of things would attain contextual meaning that no outsider could possibly decipher. Like some combination of ancient versions of Hebrew and Chinese
They're called computers you utter fucking morons.

>>53717289
ehh, not really. I've gotten all of his "My Great Predecessors" books, and while they were interesting and full of variations, I didn't think that they came across well for a teaching perspective. He mostly just bombards you with variations and "this one is better than that one" and expects you to immediately understand why. He's the sort of guy who doesn't quite get how there are people under a 2300 FIDE strength, and if you're not a master, you can probably find better instruction for your own skill level.
>>53717528
Fred Reinfeld books are classics of the genre, if only someone would update them and replace the descriptive notation with algebraic.

For some reason, a whaler from Dishonored is now hunting your party.
What happens?
Thats one of Dauds goons, not a whaler?
Call him a taffer and steal his coin pouch

The Whaler's is the name of the group.
Do you guys consider Roleplaying immature or cringy?
>>53715569
*slams dick into ur mouth* BACK THE FUCK OFF!!?!?!?!?
>>53715569
nu-/tg/ probably thinks so.
I think calling something immature as though it's a negative is pretty immature
Ideas for Campaigns centered on Dwarfs? How have you used them on your setting?
>>53715493
Once I made an Arab-Israeli wars wargame where gnomes attempt to settle in a greenskin-infested regions and must rely on their superior craftiness and technology to win out.
It could be dwarves instead, where they rely on their superior masonry and tunnel-fighting ability to just be too obstinate to be uprooted
>>53715558
>Israeli dwarves
>Palestinan orcs
>Orcs did nothing wrong
>>53715625
The dwarves do what they will and the orcs do what they must, no matter how much pampered Waterdhavians shake their fists from across the continent.
It is what it is.
i wrote up a small dungeon Esque tomb for my game, i filled it with a couple simple traps and a one "puzzle" where they need to find 2 keys.
The story is they were tracking down some criminals who were hiding out in this family tomb. they've just found the criminals and it was revealed their next heist was to break into the family vault. the players are now debating wether to break into the vault themselves since they apprehended the criminals.
the tomb is full of magic traps placed by the family, and some cruddy traps created by the criminals when they were hiding out. I've never actually done traps before so the only traps I've got here are
- Arrow traps (Criminals)
- Lightning Runes (Family)
- Auto Sealing Doors (Family)
- Rocks Falling (Criminals)
- Acid Spray (Family)
- Summon Guardian Spirits (Family)
im just looking to improve these a bit, it feels a bit lackluster. this is the tomb, ill post another version with the locations of the traps
The goal is for them to reach the final room (all the way on the right) by getting the two key pieces, when they open the doors the two tomb guardians will rise (maybe 4, the party is kinda strong) and the treasure will be thiers.
The one to the north is a kinda lame area, all they have to do is navigate a barely maze like area with some light explosives and doors that lock them in until they can break out. Randomly until they find the key.
The one to the south requires them to dig around in the dark looking for what looks to be the key piece, with dangerous terrain and some enemies. They dig around in the pool to find the last piece.
Thats about it.
Pit fiend.
Never can go wrong with a Pit Fiend.
Use 1/10th or fewer that many traps and fill the dungeon with other stuff. Unless your players love tapping through dungeons flagstone-by-flagstone, traps must be used sparingly. Otherwise everyone will stop having fun after about the second trap.
How fare your Mechanicus armies in 8th so far, /tg/? What are you running? Is pure Admech still viable after the gutting of Vanguard, Sicarians, and Rangers?
Personally, I've been raping enemy vehicles left abd right with my three Neutron Dunecrawlers. It makes me feel a little bad, so I'm considering just switching one Dunecrawler to an Icarus.
Rangers may still be useful to take a pair of Arquebus and snipe vulnerable characters.
Admech is definitely still viable, and the new IA book is going to send them through the roof IMO. Right now it seems that the best infantry in the list are the Electro Priests, which is about damn time, the models are fucking epic. Fulgurites can put out gobs of mortal wounds and make a really good counter assault unit.
Lots of hate on Kataphrons, but giving them plasma and keeping near a dominus to re-roll 1's seems like a good way to go. Kastellans can also be brutal with double firing triple phosphor blasters.
For Sicarians, the Infiltrators with goads seems to be the way to go, otherwise meh.
Cawl is a technoheretic.
>>53717085
I think Electro-Priests of both variants seem great in terms of personal stats, but they are in the single worst faction in the game at delivering them. No deep strikes, no in-faction transports, no way to improve their speed beyond running, no way to safely get them where they need to go without taking severe casualties.
I think the Corpuscarii variant seems more likely to succeed without any transports, simply due to having a range advantage.
I'm looking to set up my Kastelans as triple phosphor because a unit of two puts out 36 shots with the double-shoot protocol up.
I'm very curious about Dragoons and Ironstriders- both gained a pretty big uptick in points, and while they are more durable, durability was never really a concern for them. I fear they might not be as good as previous incarnations.
Infiltrators with goads can get to s7 with canticles up, which means they wound predator tanks on a 4+, coupled with the hilarious amount of attacks a unit of them can put out, they can be a real menace for certain armored vehicles.
Is there a system where i can emulate the final fantasy world?
The one i know are:Retro Phaze, 8bit dungeon
I also heard about returners final fantasy and final fantasy d6 but i dont know a lot about those games, dont even know if they are good
