Have you played in a campaign where your characters already were somewhat famous or were destined to do epic deeds like part of a prophecy?
Which system?
How did it go?

I run a game where Renown and Fortune are core Attributes and have mechanical implications. Heavily inspired by Bronze Age myth, which means Destiny and Fate are something to be struggle for and against.
Working name is Thesis until I come up with something else. I'm considering Tharros or Kleos, but I'm not sure if I want to tie it too tightly to ancient Greek myth and culture.
It's actually going quite well. Hoping to have a beta build to distribute here within three to four months.
>>54027305
Surprised people don't have any stories to share.
>>54027305
I've run a couple of pulp games where this is precondition for any hero. Each of them already has something heroic in their origin story, which as a gm allows me to
a) summon them for further adventures rather than any random shmoe
b) assume they have a responsibility and a reputation to defend, so they can't just back out of an adventure

Have you ever included a character/organisation from a another franchise in your game? I was thinking the Fraternity from Wanted (the movie version, the comics are a bit too far out) could be a fun antagonist conspiracy.

How would you stat your favorite version of the Doctor from Doctor Who in WoD or CoD?
>>54025392
I would stat up less shit taste for myself.
Hey /tg/,
I'm kind of having a dry spell, as far as tabletop gaming goes. I don't know anyone around here that plays, and I'm done with playing with random people on roll20. So I gotta ask, have you ever played one of those solo games or used a GM simulator?
I'm thinking about starting a project where I write a series of episodic short stories that use published modules as a sort of template of events that happen to a party of characters. So, I'll write a party of four adventurers into the story, then follow them through a series of "adventures" playing out how I think they would act. I was thinking about not reading adventure modules first, so that I wouldn't know about secrets and such ahead of time, but I would go back and fix things as necessary. And I was going to roll to simulate all the normal amount of chance associated with combat and challenges.
Thoughts? Advice?
>>54024762
Bump!
Also, if anyone knows any modules that would make for interesting stories, I'm all ears! I have a few in mind, but I'm curious what all's out there.
try a gamebook?

I am looking for a challenging fantasy rpg(challenging for the players as in deadly if they act stupid or unprepared)
If you have any recommendation or tip please tell
>>54023849
It is fucking awesome. But you will get no one to play it.
For the dungeon delvers, it's too hard. They have watered down shit that is close enough.
For the hipsters, it's too close to D&D and they can't be seen near it.
For autists, it rocks, but no one likes them and at least in GURPS you can play just about anything, so they still get people for that.
For the grognards, you might find a couple to play it, but it would be a vastly underwhelming experience as they couldn't put the effort in.
And finally for the pervs, there are too many rules and none of them are useful for furry shit.
So in closing, system rocks, community sucks.
>>54023849
If what >>54024707 says is true, try Mythras. The only thing it can't do for you is Heroic Fantasy. Otherwise it'll do just about whatever you want, is rather gritty, and has plenty of support.
>>54023849
You may want to take a look at MERP. It is basically RM light, but it is still pretty deadly.Plus, if you're into LotR, the background is already done.

Heyo!
Reposting Engal.
Engal the grand undead.
Engal is empowered by the end of things be it the death of a man or the end of a mans faith.
Engal also encompasses the acceptance of new ideas. When a noble decides to stop hating those below him and trys to help out those in the hive Engal chuckles and huddles in his cloak, ready to watch what happens.
His followers wear Orange and black robes and the animal they focus on is a Vulture.
Engals demons are short lived beasts that rely on swarming the enemy.
His deamons are the:
>The Perplexed
The greater deamons of Engal are called The perplexed. They look like anthropomorphic dogs with the heads of a Vulture. They commonly use weapons that have multiple uses such as a spear that breaks into two swords or a Hammer that can morph into a shovel.
The perplexed constantly change their minds and when in battle flail wildly with no skill.
>Mad things
The lesser daemons of Engal are known as Mad things and are slimes that can change their form however they want.
>Sightseers
The steeds of Engal are called Sightseers, and look like huge vulture.
They are like wyverns in that they can use their wings and legs to walk around

I'm not sure if this 100% fits with the thread theme but I want to bring this up and maybe it can go somewhere.
The biggest problem I always had with Chaos was that chaos planets and societies serving chaos all basically boiled down everyone suffering constantly except for a few insane overpowered daemony people.
And yes, obviously a society with CHAOS as the main tenant would obviously be a big shithole like that normally. I'm not gonna defend it ancap style or anything like that.
My problem is that Chaos is supposed to act as the alternative to The Imperium for many humans, and if any of them learned that they'd most likely wind up as a slave if they stuck around with Chaos long enough, they'd want to get away as soon as fucking possible, unless they're just made immediatly insane, which I find very lazy.
I'd like it if the insane everything is terrible chaos planets were deep in the Warp, while farther away from the Eye of Terror, chaos controlled planets, while still basically being anarchy, still had some semblance of good in it, a reason that someone would actually want to live in a place like this.
A Slaanesh world being a constant ride of pleasure and and hedonistic joy.
A Tzeentch world being a hub for information, learning, and a haven of safety for psykers.
A Nurgle world being a diseased pit where rotting people lounge around and wait peacefully to decay and enjoy each other's company.
A Khorne world still being fights 24/7, but more honor based. Space Spartans or something.

Inquisition acolytes.
>Cost 10 ppm with stormbolters.
>Cost 21 ppm with plasma.
>Reroll hits and wounds.
>Can ride in any Imperium transport
Put them in a pod, or any valkyrie, and you can drop them in and kill pretty much anything.
24 shots of S8, AP -3, D2 can kill pretty much anything. Does a mean damage of 18 wounds to something T8 with a 5+ effective save.
With good rolls 250 points of acolytes can kill a knight in one turn of shooting. With bad rolls they'll heavily cripple it.
>>54003612
Not to mention, they are 3 wounds each
>>54003658

Requesting a D&D combat medic.
He wears a combination of the clothes on the bottom right and the armor and pouch belt of the top right. The main emphasis is mobility, the main armored spots are his chest and arms.
He's a cleric of Pelor, so if you'd also add a sun symbol to his shoulder I would be thankful.

So, mountains.
>West Marches-style hexcrawl
>Inspired by Scandinavia, China, and Afghanistan
>Mountainous regions are home to dozens of tribes that don't care for much outside their village
>Northern steppe is the route taken by nomadic orc tribes travelling south
>Not!Gobi Desert to the east over the huge mountain chain is a cold desert home to camel herders, possibly a magic dead zone
>Lake in the center hosts the largest population in the region, most hospitable
>Far north is an always-shifting ice field split by various channels and rivers

How "West March" is it, really?
There was a thread a while back that was talking about Roll20 games just using it as a buzzword for Hexcrawl.
http://arsludi.lamemage.com/index.php/78/grand-experiments-west-marches/
>Inspired by Scandinavia, China, and Afghanistan
Please elaborate. Just mountains, steppe and the not!Gobi?
>>53975718
>How "West March" is it, really?
I have about 10 friends interested in playing, but everyone's schedule is different. I'm the primary world GM, but my experienced players also have a couple of dungeons of their own designed.
Say a handful of players want to check out the abandoned tower they heard rumors about. Billy designed that tower, so he DMs that session (giving me a chance to play occasionally too).
Then the results are added to the "Tavern Book of Bragging" and the map is updated.
This allows multiple sessions per week involving various players.
Main towns are safe zones, everything beyond them is the frontier. Villages may offer a safe place to rest for the night, or they may try to kill you in their sleep.
Further outside the towns you go, the more dangerous it gets. Players are magically returned to the nearest safe zone at the end of session.
Exploration is key. Random encounters could lead to combat, new locations, rumors, etc.
The Hex map itself is more for me to have a rough idea of where discovered locations are.
What is a pure hexcrawl if there is a difference between that and West Marches?
>Please elaborate. Just mountains, steppe and the not!Gobi?
Dozens of mountain tribes with complex political relationships, same with lowland tribes.
China more for landscape inspiration. Contemplated putting in a great wall to protect against the dangerous of the frontier.
River valleys surrounded by towering mountains.
Land is cold and harsh.
Tons of abandoned mountain temples.
