Life gain is kind of shit when it's not attached to anything.
common
Life gain is a loosing mechanic. Card is just bait for scrubs.
Explain to me how high level wizards don't simply rule the entire world in your typical D&D setting.
What's keeping them in check?

The gods, other powerful wizards who dont trust their rivals, and the fact that ruling the world takes time away from studying magic.

What if we discover that we are reborn? No hell, heaven or the like. How would the established religions react?
Christianity could argue that heaven exists in the future.
>>54076114
>>54076168
I'd think something like the Cathar heresy becoming the new standard for Christianity.
Basically, the world is a sinful hell, and we're trapped here until we can learn to reject the world and all it's sinful ways.
A lot would depend on how we're reborn, and how we found out. Namely if it looks like karma is a thing or not.
>>54076114
They'd quietly alter their doctrines and claim that rebirth was in them to begin with.
What exactly is the difference between cyberpunk and sci fi? I get that cyberpunk generally deals with near future scenarios where as most sci fi is set in the far future but is that enough to call cyberpunk it's own genre? Where do you draw the line?
>>54073489
There is no difference. Cyberpunk is a subgenre of science fiction.
I swear, this board sometimes...
>>54073517
Yeah but would you call steampunk sci fi? They're both supposedly in the same genre as well
>>54073551
Yes, steampunk is science fiction. Of course, it's such a poorly defined "genre" that seems to rely purely on superficialities instead of a set of grounded core rules, and it often strays straight into Fantasy, but even then science fiction and Fantasy are joined at the hip. Most bookstores where I live put them on the same shelves.
Or did you mean that cyberpunk and steampunk are in the same genre? Because they're kind of not. Steampunk was named that in order to lift on the success of cyberpunk, despite not actually sharing its established core themes. In essence, the people who claim steampunk should emphasise the "punk" part are trying to retcon the genre, even though it would make it better in a lot of the cases.

Each game line has its own set of weird sexual undertones. What are the ones you've encountered in your favorite line?

This may be a dumb question, I haven't been following very closely but is there a date for fifth edition being released?
Besides 'winter 2018' or has anyone heard anything more concrete?
also is it going to be full of sjw-stuff? they keep using words like 'diversity' when I see new videos talking about anything new come out and as an admitted owodfag, I just want new, old content.
Though I suppose all people that made it what it was have moved on a long time ago and ability to make said new content is long gone.
https://youtu.be/Tm0V24IEHao
Sure is magefag. Techies versus Nephandi?
>>54072369
I'm not really sure about the ones for Geist. I mean I played a male Sin-Eater that had a geist that was a lesbian, but aside from me jokingly ad-libbing for my Geist whispering in my character's ear "Doooooo herrrrrrr" to throw my DM off while talking to female npc, nothing particularly sexual came up.
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Lovedagger
"Lovedagger" was a satirical madeup setting based on the premise of Warhammer being created to appeal to girls the same way it was made in reality to appeal to boys.
How do you think the setting would handle the changes of Age of Sigmar/whatever the equivalent figure is called? How about the Kharadron Overlords? The new metaplot?
"Lovedagger" is stupid, and it should have been named "Lovepillow" or something similar.
>>54071569
The dagger was for the melodramatic "killed herself for love" angle of the story. It's in context less as a weapon and more as an instrument.
>>54071569
Too on the nose
I love the Baldur's Gate series. It was literally my first ever experience with the wider world of Dungeons & Dragons, outside of a few episodes of the D&D cartoon series.
And yet... it doesn't escape my mind that the AD&D 2e ruleset was kind of clunky.
So! I thought it couldn't hurt to ask: under a hypothetical 5e remake of the game line, what classes could you see various NPCs actually being?
* Minsc: I would definitely pin this guy as a Berserker Barbarian with Proficiency in Survival and Animal Handling. It matches with his lore and in-game abilities far better than the more "name accurate" Beastmaster Ranger - Boo is more like a familiar than a proper animal companion.
Jan Jansen: Multiclassed Artificer (Gunsmith) and either Wizard (Illusionist) with Proficiency: Sleight of Hand, or Rogue (Arcane Trickster). Gunsmith gives him an excuse for his Flasher-Master-Bruiser Mate, and the other class depends on whether you consider his illusionist spellcasting or his rogue's talents more important.
* Mazzy Fentan: Paladin of Devotion. I know she's not one in AD&D, but her entire status is really boiled down to a meta-humor joke on the AD&D stigma of racial class restrictions. I'd rather hoik the gag and play her straight.
>>54069523
>a hypothetical 5e remake
Would be Skyrim reskin with dialogue choices limited to: Eager Yes, Yes, Sarcastic Yes, and Can You Repeat?
Imoen... honestly, given she starts the entire series as a rogue, and then picks up magic, my first thought for her is "Arcane Trickster Rogue".
Likewise, Nalia is an Arcane Trickster Rogue, which really works well with her "magic-aided vigilante do-gooder fluff". Yeah, it makes her identical to Imoen, but she was freaking well designed to be an Imoen Clone because Imoen was originally supposed to wind up dead/non-playable after Spellhold.
Edwin: Evoker Wizard. Literally a 1 to 1 transition here, although this version gets a lot more bang for his buck. I suppose you could argue he works better as a War Mage or a Loremaster, although I'd like to see those arguments first.
>>54069572
Also most of the content would be removed and the rest streamlined into a completely linear adventure with zero exploration left.
Also ugly CGI.
Need some ideas for an off-beat "weird cyberpunk" adventure that doesn't involve the usual vampires/cultists/bio-experiments suspects.
Also, post cyberpunk pics and adventure seeds if you've got some.
And has anyone played any of the new cyberpunk RPGs that have come out recently, like

>The Veil
>The Sprawl
>>54068946

Was going to ask this in the "Marvel rips off 40k" thread but it died before I could. How's 2000AD doing these days? I grew up on the late 90s-early 2000s era stuff, and holy shit did I love it. Stopped collecting because life and shit, moved on I guess. Then I saw some of the old artwork in that thread and it reignited my interest. How do you guys feel about it? Is there much love/interest for obscure British sci-fi on the board?
Would love to see more media being made of it. Sinister/Dexter movie? Hell yes. Slaine RPG? Probably already been done. TL:DR, is it worth getting into modern 2000AD?
>>54051703
It's still pretty good. Kind of surprising how well it's kept its quality, to be honest, while Marvel and DC just keep on going with their downward spiral of shit.
Yeah. I mentioned in the thread you're talking about but Deadworld (running in 2000AD) and Lawless (running in the Meg) have been incredibly solid Dredd Universe strips lately. When did you stop reading?
>>54051800
Must have been around 2002-2003. I remember the Books Of Invasions storyline for Slaine, the Empty Suns saga for Durham Red, the Judge Dredd/Alien crossover, the Dredd story where he finally kills that crazy bitch who'se in love with him, that Sinister Dexter story where they go to space with Billie and get chased by a bunch of perverts for not being perverted enough. Sorry for being vague but I'm remembering from 10 years ago. I loved the Nikolai Dante stories, the Rogue Trooper stuff, and I distinctly remember this oneshot called 13, spanned about 15 issues iirc (pic related).
Is there anywhere I can catch up on the stuff I missed, an online cache or something? I hate to freeload but I probably can't buy the comics anywhere so long after release.
Best Ship edition.

What's the best ship of Star Wars and why is it the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer?
Help me out, /swg/. Me and some friends are gettting into x-wing and we're looking on recommendations for what ships to get after the core set. All factions are welcome since between all of us, someone will probably choose to focus on each faction.

Dream FFG Erratta for when wave 11 drops? Here's my ideal changes/wish list.
- Sabine only works on dial reveal bombs.
- Advanced Slam does not allow bombs to be dropped
- TLT now reads Attack (Target Lock)
- Biggs is either once per round or just obstructs ships at range 1 of him
- Jumpmaster adds points and strips the EPT from the Scout. Maybe make the dial worse.
- Mindlink only works in pairs/becomes a 2-dot unique.
- K4 Security Droid gives a target lock action.
- R3-A2 begins with "if you are not stressed"
- Kylo nerf somehow if the rest of these go through?
Maybe some sort of MoV change to discourage trying to have the Fattest Miranda as well.
>>54038114
Honestly, get whatever looks cool. From there, you can pick up a ship or two to finish up a collection or a list.
How many friends?
What looks cool to you?

Atmosfear/nightmare, it's shit, but fuck me, I still love it. TO THE BLACK HOLE WITH YOU ! MAGGOT ! I have almost everything they came up with : first game, all three expansions, the harbingers, the soul rangers, the dvd game, and even that Khufu game that was only avaialble in some parts of the world.
>Are there any games from your childhood that still stand the test of time?
Nah, it's all junk
Cthulhu Wars is back in stock, can anyone here who has played it say how it compares to CitOW, Blood Rage, or Kemet?
>What's that game? You know, the one you played a bunch as a kid, but you realise now wasn't that great?
Sadly my boardgame childhood was all garbage like Monopoly, Scrabble, Yatzhee, Clue. Games so bad not even the people who buy them actually enjoy them.
