Alright guys, it's me, the guy who had his GM's tinder date get doxxed by another player, back with more retarded deaths.
This time, our wood elf ranger stole 2 Shetleth's Grimoire of Mystery (a book that when you read it casts any random spell) from our dead sorcerer's body.
Next session he decides to read the book and cast a random spell (which can also have targets chosen randomly depending on your spellcasting ability). He proceeds to accidentally Planeshift himself to the Elemental Plane of Water. In an attempt to escape he reads the second book underwater and casts Feeblemind on the only target in range, himself. He fails his int save and drowns to death having become completely retarded.
Best stupid death?

>Dragon carried some Dwarfes to a cloud castle, the dwarfes ignored the majoroty of players by using misty step to attack the giant.
>Two players w/ misty step fight the dwarfes.
>4 players are in the main foaye unable to fly up.
>The dragon was doing a favor for a faction and was nit interested into fighting. All he knows is that he has to pick up the dwarfes.
>Barbarian Player
I want to go in front of the Dragon and use animal handling to talk to him.
>Me
Okay. You aproach the dragon showing hand jestures, roll me one perception,
>20
Oh yes!
>DM
You see the Dragon is offended for you behaving like he is an stupid animal, he swings at you.
We rolled the initiative and Barbarian was last, other players rolled and sneak hid behind solid structures not to get dragon breath uppon them. Dragon used legendary actions to skillfuck the Barbarian and kill him before activating rage.
>Aftermath
After that scene we can't stop meming animal handling, that friend when he DMs gives everyone free animal handling :) .
>>54098825
Also the Dragon left after killing the payer, he figured Dwarfes were dead. And because he was not there to fight but to transport he flew away.
>>54098825
Sounds like a barbarian-level thought process.
How do I do an "alien invasion" plot right?
>>54095745
Figure out what you're doing wrong, then remove that.
>>54095745
There's little chance of fending off a full invasion so make them basically petty raiders/the remnants of a failed and mostly destroyed expeditionary team.
They are, of course, still a fucking massive threat, but that would explain why they are at least stoppable. Or, you know, just weak enough to make you think you can stop them.
>aliens invade
How does your setting respond, /tg/?
What does you BBEG and his goons do on their days off?
>>54089234
Work on the backup plans, since the world isn't gonna conquer itself.
>>54089234
Wouldn't the snake just swallow the burger whole instead of biting it?
>>54089234
Holo-golf.
That's retarded. Clearly it was gravity that should get exp.
That's wrong because it's whatever he hit at the bottom, or drowning that actually killed him, not the cliff. Also the same logic could be applied to any situation where you used a weapon to kill someone.
Also I hope to fuck that GM never does jury duty.
>>54087695
The correct response to that is to ignore the GM and write down the exp on your sheet anyway.
>>54087759
Also, all my attacks have +20 counting all the bonus, honest :^)

><X> was a robot the whole time!
Is there a way to do this that doesn't come off as hackneyed?
>>54113598
How am I doing? I feel like I'm not quite pulling off that "Namefagging Bastard you love to hate" vibe I'm going for. Any suggestions that don't involve killing myself?
>>54113598
>Is there a way to do this that doesn't come off as hackneyed?
Yes. If the whodunnit mystery is "someone's a robot and murdered the guy with his robot strength. Who's the robot?"
Bonus points if they suspect the person was also killed and replaced by a robot but they can't find the body.
But it turns out that the friend they had for 5 years was a robot all along.
If you make them essential to the storyline or the key to the end goal like pic related, it can be done.
Hey /tg/, I need wacky and or funny DnD plot hooks. Can you help this fag out?

Something weird is happening in a remote settlement on Empire's northern shore. The town is extremely religious, littered with churches and is built around an ancient monastery; even though Gods rarely interact or even communicate with mortals, especially in this distant corner of the realm, but people remain devout. One day, a radiant orb emerges out of the waters and claims to be an avatar of Gods - it wastes little time dispensing judgement, reasoning that all the victims were sinners. Most surprisingly, this is completely true, the smitten turning out to be cheaters, rapists, idolatrists and the like, with good chunk their crimes having been private.
A dragon-king has no patience for managing prisons - his solution is more efficient and, some argue, more humane. Scum of the kingdom are thrown into a tiny subplane free of supervision and captivity, but their link to the real world is forever severed. This has been known, and nothing else, for The Dump is left to its own devices; what's new is that there are rumors of miraculous prison-break... and the dark storm brewing among the denizens of the subplane. If heralds bringing words of warning has managed to escape, what might follow? The only way to find out is from the inside.
In the heart of a great forest, defiant and proud villagers spend every second fearing for the lives, but refuse to relocate to safety - the now miniscule town was once a capital of their people, and they honor the legacy of their ancestors. Magical lanterns circling the walls, the only thing that repeals their sworn enemy, werewolves, is derelict and might give out any day, and the foe seems to be growing in number. Droves of villagers are being dragged out into the woods, to return turned, and twice as agressive as their kin. Important root is harvested within the woods, and the baron would gladly abandon this stubborn folk if not for it being the only cure for his condition. Can outsiders fix the situation?

Little Fears
Monsters and Other Childish Things
Innocents
Nightlight if anyone here remembers that
>>54110259
Ah yes, we were discussing names for this setting. I'm a bit partial to Nightlight and Little Fears myself. Especially Little Fears, because it kinda reminds me a bit off Little Nightmares, a game with a somewhat similar premise.
Nightmare Bump.

I've always wanted to run a campaign that evoked the feel of the Final Fantasy series. What would you consider essential elements to the setting and plot to give a campaign that FF flavour?
>>54109614
Depends if you mean the very first ones, or the more recent games, or maybe something down the middle. They all have entirely different moods they evoke.
I like the first ones myself, and tend to go for Moldvay's B/X for them. AD&D works too.
>>54109640
I was thinking 6+ rather than the nes era stuff
>>54109614
>>54109784
You're gonna need a wedge (and his partner biggs).
You're going to need a massively powerful religiously driven organization (corrupt or immediately obvious presence are both optional)
You're going to need Chocobos (possibly trademarked).
You're going to need an actual BBEG that does not actually get revealed until the very last chapter of your adventure.
You're going to need a BBEG that fucks around and screws with the heros on a near constant basis while relentlessly pursuing whatever crazy scheme he actually thinks is worth doing. Take note: the party is never to reach a point where they can effectively ruin this guys plans until you are ready to introduce the "actual" BBEG mentioned in the above line.

How many weapons does your character carry?
>>54108799
4, because apparently Warlocks need a crossbow and three daggers.
>>54108799
A single Rapier of Wounding, Shortswords, Multiple Daggers, a hand crossbow. You?
He's a hoarder of swords. I have 23 of them on my character sheet at this point. I wrap them all up in a huge bundle and keep them on my horse

Are there still people out there that don't know about tiers?
There are if nobody in the group informs them about it. It's not like the system is self aware enough to inform you, they keep on pretending things are balanced and forcing the fanbase to make up the difference.
>>54102671
Tiers are for queers.
Is this the bait thread?
/tg/ is Hc Svnt Dracones actually a good game?
I've been told its good except for the moral system for determining enemy retreating being completely unnecessary.
>>54098069
I meant to organize a game but work schedule made that not work out.
Supposedly the economic skills are a trap. I know for a fact that calculating your wealth growth is a pain in the ass.
>>54098094
Maybe the upcoming 2nd ed will stream that as well?
It's a furry heartbreaker of Eclipse Phase with some interesting but wonky mechanics and lore, and a weird, weird baked in political view. Like it's the only thing I've ever seen that is unironically pro cyberpunk style megacorp. Like a lot of the setting background is about how cool being a corpserf is.
Remind me again why magic points for spellcasting are a bad idea?
I honestly knew this once but it's completely dropped from my mind.
>>54096975
It isn't? It depends on how you're using it and the context involved.
Magic points can be interesting, but they involve extra bookkeeping and resource management, and can lead to someone spamming a single option endlessly rather than using a variety. All of these can be worked around, of course, but they're just a couple of design issues it can have off the top of my head.
Same reason why HP for injury is a bad idea: as long as it's above 0 it has no effect.
>>54097135
Same applies to Vancian casting, it's not a real problem.
>>54096992
I think it was something to do with min-maxing an optimal magic points formula that made these systems so easy to game.
