I'm still not sure what the point of this NPC sub-plot is.

For all of how annoying PCs in the OOTS universe are, removing them won't result in an NPC paradise, just these versions of assholes dicking around in a not-my-problem fugue for a few days and something destroying the world?

BE PURE! BE VIGILANT! BEHAVE!
The British anthology 2000AD started life forty years ago this year in February 1977. Its earliest stories were spins on traditional favourites of the genre: war stories, exotic adventures in faraway places, sport strips, and the classic science fiction hero Dan Dare. But even at that point it had a streak of midnight black humour and social satire running through it, as shown most clearly by the comic’s most celebrated star, the man with the iron chin, Judge Dredd.
The début of Nemesis the Warlock in 1980 brought with it a lot more weirdness.
Starting in Prog 167, this demented sword and sorcery sci-fi story of a harpoon headed alien’s war against a xenocidal religious maniac owed more to continental comics like Métal hurlant (which itself appeared only a few years earlier in 1974) than traditional British ones. Set in a nightmarish future where the promise of technology has given way to stagnation and superstition, the cruel humans of the Terran Empire are the masters of vast galactic empire made possible by an ancient piece and mysterious device built into a former Emperor’s tomb. With it, they may guide their ships far from the mighty hive cities of Terra to anywhere in the galaxy in order to purge it of alien life. Even death cannot stop their leader, the tyrannical Inquisitor Tomás de Torquemada.
Only one creature can hope to stop Torquemada: the alien Khaos Sorcerer NEMESIS THE WARLOCK!
If you are even a tiny bit familiar with Warhammer 40,000 quite a lot of that description will seem really familiar. Many of the details of 40k’s Imperium in particular and the setting in general can be traced back to Nemesis, and the stories and characters featured in the comic can in turn be fed into games set in Games Workshop’s Dark Future very easily. The author of Nemesis, Pat Mills, has even done so himself – his character Klovis the Redeemer is essentially Torquemada with a slightly different hat.
Technically, Nemesis didn’t start as its own series. Comic Rock was proposed as an ongoing series of stories based (loosely) on pop songs, in much the same vein as the already established Future Shocks or Tharg’s Terror Tales.Nemesis proved so absurdly popular so quickly that the idea was dropped.

James Cameron's film The Terminator came out in 1984. 40k's first edition was released in 1987.
A Tumbril is a two wheeled cart usually pulled by a farm animal of some kind. It was infamously used during the French Revolution to transport the condemned to to the guillotine.
What is your appeal in Warhammer 40000, why do you like it?
For me, it is the Imperium and its aesthetics, the grim society, the combination of gothic and futuristic elements.
>>54164705
The grim darkness. The grotesque. Chaos.
The religion, something I wish we had today.
>>54164705
I play sisters of battle, because their idiotically over-the-top gothic aesthetics are pretty much the essence of 40k for me.
I've been accused implicitly or explicitly multiple times of playing SoB because of a fetish for nuns, which iscompletely unfair because I only got the fetish two years later.
The solar system of Toril (Realmspace) from Forgotten Realms has been transported into a backwater region of the Imperium of Man. What happens next?
The warp is not directly accessible inside of the Toril System, but the D&D planes are still accessible via planeshift, gate, etc. This means there is now a conduit from the D&D Planes into the 40k galaxy, and potentially a conduit in the other direction if 40k characters could learn to master D&D spells.
D&D Arcane and Divine magic does not work if you travel too far from Toril. Practicing wizardry in nearby systems and worshipping Toril dieties can extend the weave, increasing the region where D&D magic can function. Likewise, warp phenomena could occur on Toril if enough inhabitants begin worshipping Chaos. The same applies for other 40k phenomena such as the WAAAGH.
Since the Imperium is a much larger entity, let's level the playing field (at least a little) by saying that the Imperium is not immediately aware of the appearance of Toril, but that the poweful NPCs of Toril are aware that Toril is now inside of a different and dangerous galaxy.
I got some inspiration form this thread: https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/dawn-of-wizardry-40k-d-d-3-5e.193365/
>>54156988
The amount of sweaty neckbeardom involved in such a skub-worthy scenario would cause the birth of the fifth Chaos god of Geekdom.
>>54158082
A new chaos god could be the outcome of an event like this if enough inhabitants fell to chaos. Although the planet is not that populated, it contains a very high number of powerful spellcasters. Given the rarity of psykers in the Imperium, the concentration of casters on Toril would be almost unheard of. The collective fall of their spirits to Chaos could create a powerful warp entity.
4th Report from Planetary Govenor of Agri-World xB58-7:
A new star system appeared overnight 180 days ago, as if by foul sorcery. The details of this are documented in my first three briefings, which I've been told have been passed along the Imperial chain of Command, although I can not realistically expect them to respond for several years. Soon after the appearance of these new worlds we began receiving reports of strange visitors. Ships unlike any we have ever seen appear in the sky, while strange Xenos lurk at night and vanish without a trace. One such is a man who I can only describe as a robed skeleton. He has been sighted on several different continents, and repeatedly makes contact with the farming peasantry. Those we have interviewed say this figure calls himself Larloch, and that he speaks of a being called Mystra, of a great tapestry, and an ancient art that can control the universe. One even claimed to have studied this "art" as his disciple. We immediately attempted to execute the man for heresy, but he vanished in a puff of noxious gas, as if by magic. Could this be the art he was speaking of? The escapee's village has been placed under quarantine of course, although the fugitive was never found. I worry that this new star will ultimately be a threat to the Emperor, and so I again am requesting an Imperial Guard regiment to be sent to investigate this new world, hopefully before it is too late.

Any party member can call dibs, within reason, if there's something in the pile they'd especially like. Anything not made claims on will be sold for coin and added to the initial coinage value, and the total is then split evenly.

Topic starter: Assuming WotC gets the time/people/resources to start publishing more official material other than just more hard-cover adventure books, where do you want them to start?
>>54182540
They need to make a Gnoll PC race that isn't total shit like Kobolds or Orc
and I want them to make more weapons, the newest planeshift stated khopeshs being longsword/greatsword and nothing more
Funny enough, the thing I want for the most part would be in a new PHB. Things like additional class options, equipment, magic items, feats etc.

>Dragons are more intelligent than humans, to the point where an adolescent golden dragon can match wits with all but the most brilliant of humans
>They can also shapeshift into many things, including humans
Why don't they do this all the time? Humans are bipedal and have opposable thumbs, dragons should be intelligent enough to realize what a massive advantage that would give them. Dragons should be living in societies where they remain in human form unless they want to duke it out or go somewhere fast (a dragon can fly much faster than a human can sprint, and maintain that pace for a much longer time). What's so great about being a bulky lizard that can't even scratch his own butt?
