What fucking battle? Shieet nigga, leading an army into a swampy forests is a poor tactical choice at best and a fucking suicide at worst, monsters or not.

Men tire easily, bugs crawl underneath your clothes, carts either stuck or moving at the snails pace, provisions goes bad fast because fuck, everything is wet and dump in this place all day everyday. Making bonfires is a fucking nighmare, because there's hardly any wood suitable for It and most of the time It's also fucking wet. A party of adventures could get themselves a nice bonfire. Good luck with warming up a fucking army.
Seiously, think about those poor motherfcukers. They are going to be so mad.
Oh shit, this tree fell down a few months back and blocked this beck right here so now we have to wade in this newly made lakelet and somehow transport of our wheeled shit on the side.

And THEN you have barbarians and monsters, turning this shit into Jurassic Park. A guy went to take a piss? Alone? Oh. Bad choice.

So, I just got the handbook for this game and I was planning to start a campaign in a few months. Thoughts on the system?

I got the same impression. As an experienced GM, though, I was thinking to play a little with environment penalties to bend the CDs in a given situation - but I might be horribly wrong and fuck it up if the system doesn't let me.

"Another Goddamn Persona Campaign" Edition

This is a thread for discussing Monsters and Other Childish Things, Wild Talents, Reign and any other games built on Greg Stolze's One Roll Engine.

>***The System
Roll some d10s. Find matches. The number of matching dice is your Width. The number ON the dice is your Height. So a Set of [5,5,5] has a Width of 3 and a Height of 5, written as 3x5. That's it. Width and Height tell you a lot about your action, such as how fast it was, how strong it was, how precise it was, etc. Everything in the system is built around this fast, simple mechanic.

>***The Games

>Nemesis
A game about cosmic horror using the Madness system invented and popularized by Unknown Armies. It's available for free on ArcDream's website here: http://www.arcdream.com/pdf/Nemesis.pdf

>Godlike
Superhero roleplaying during World War II. Fight supersonic Nazis and invisible French knife maniacs in a brutal setting where you're equally likely to be killed by a mortar blast as from a supervillain.

>Wild Talents
The sequel to Godlike, blowing the doors of the system to let you create any superpower you can imagine. /tg's favorite ORE game.

>Monsters and Other Childish Things
You're a kid with an imaginary monster friend who's real, and you have adventures. Converts nicely to Jojo and Persona.

>Reign
High fantasy roleplaying in a crazy world that would need to have an entire post just about it.

>A Dirty World
Noir at its best. Relentlessly focused on character growth and psychology. A much lighter system than the others.

>Better Angels
You're a supervillain whose power comes from a contract with a demon. Try not to get dragged to hell.

You are hereby sentenced to become a serf to one on the chaos/renegades legions.

Which legion do you choose to serve and why?

I guess I would go with Blood Gorgons or Night Lords since they seems to treat their serfs more like valuable resources rather than outright slaves.

How do you think it would be possible to have multiple RPG parties share the same world?

I have this idea about possibly gathering up a few GMs and having all of them run cyberpunk games within same world that has loosely defined common setting, they could use any rulesets they prefer.

Their actions would have impact on that world and would affect each other to lesser or greater extent. I would periodically create some plot hooks, write news reports based on what their parties did and how it affected the world/city where they operate and update how different faction fare.

This is something that I have at the very earliest stages of planning, but I find the idea interesting I want to hear what /tg/ has to say.

My main worries:
1. Passage of time (different groups might run their games at different speeds, some might want to spend a session on a 1-hour combat, while another group might spend a session for a month of downtime upgrading their weapons, etc). I was thinking about possibly introducing a common loosely defined time scale, but I am not sure what would it be.
2. Two or more groups simultaneously deciding to use a key feature of the world or pursue the same plothook
3. Power levels of groups - some GMs might want to reward their groups greatly for minor things, while other will keep it gritty and realistic

Overall, I am excited about the idea, but it sounds like a really complicated thing to do. I think I could easily manage 5 parties, 10 would be a challenge and 20 would be pushing it, but I am trying to devise a framework that would make it all worth it.

I am also wondering whether your average GM wll be interested in this, because this has both advantages:
+you get to share a living world
+your actions matter to others
+scheming/politics gain a whole new complexity level
+you can become part of small rpg community if you wish

cont.

...and disadvantages:
-if your group goes on hiatus for some time, world will change a lot in the meantime
-you will not have 100% control of your world
-you might have trouble incorporating more outlandish cyberpunk settings (for example Shadowrun, which while awesome, is hard to easily combine with others)

Any thoughts?

Each group ia actually hitmen for a certain megacorp.
DM are the Mr Johnsons of those Megacorp.
DMs are in for working together and against each other for the control kf the grid.

Nevermind it's a retarded idea.
>>
>>54214061
Yeah, that could actually work. Different factions would have different power levels and depending on who got hit, they could rise or fall. This would also be connected to the in-game stock market, thought I have not yet figured out how I want that to be incorporated, but I guess some players could make a killing by buying stocks of a corp and then destroying their rivals.

If by "played" you mean keep losing to the guy who had the Hierophant, then yes.

None of us had a hierophant so I never played against it. My Necropolis Sect buddy's Order of Vlad was pretty fucking terrifying though. I liked Atlantis Guild a lot, had a Magus, Storm Golem and all the guardsmen/demi magi one could need. The other guys collected Elemental League and Black Powder Rebels.

It wasn't a very balanced game in retrospect, but that didn't matter to us. I guess we were too young to WAAC-fag so we just played the figs we liked. What faction were you into?

So hear me out. This is a Warhammer Fantasy End Times alternate scenario.

What if, instead of the setting being wiped out and Age of Sigmar rolling into town, at the 11th hour the Gods of Law returned to smack the Gods of Chaos in the face, driving them back to the wastes?

How would the nations of the Warhammer World react to the arrival of 'good' warp gods that just saved their world? What would a Deamons of Law army look like?

Can you properly run a long term campaign in Paranoia, or are they best as high fatality short campaigns/one shots? I know you can play the game either seriously or 100% goof mode, but in /tg/'s experience, what works best?

I sure hope this thread isn't treason.

>>
>>54213009
They're like a party game. You can't run a campaign in it unless you're doing it in a kind of cinematic anthology way, where each adventure arc is just one viewpoint into a massive event unfolding.
>>
>>54213009
Of course it's treason.

I think a Paranoia campaign works best with a dedicated goal in mind, and that usually means a shorter runtime than a longer one. To me, I think the fun of the setting could wear itself out over an extended period, but I suppose your mileage may vary if you want to play your character, their clones, their clone's clone's kids' clones and so forth.

Please report to the disintegraters.
>>
>>54213037
Everything I read up on about it suggests it is better for a shorter campaigns and one offs, but there's something super appealing about the idea of seeing the troubleshooters try to really get through the ranks and make it to the top (and probably crash and burn trying.)

I'm currently in a campaign where wild magic is the norm. Castes have to roll to even see if their spells go off as intended and don't plane shift them or set them or their targets on fire.

We are nearing the end of the campaign and we approach the final fight with celestials who are strongly underpowered do to wild magic throwing everything out of wack. However of course these beings don't have any problem casting spells, being a bard I'd rather not have to burn my friends alive by trying to heal them or buff them, so I plan on an ace in the hole. The Wish spell.

Basically I just need plans for how to summon, contain, and use a Djinn for my will without him tearing my bardic ass to shreds the second I let him loose so he can head home.

Any help is appreciated, cheers lads.

If the premise of the campaign is Wild magic, a Djinn might not be a good target; they generally filly the word of their contract while ignoring the spirit (very Monkey's Paw like), and I'm not sure if the binding clauses would even hold in your world. In other words, they might get summoned, pretend to totally be bound by a Wish contract, and then do whatever.

Now, if you say they are tied to a contract by DM fiat, we can go with one of the usual methods. First, a good counter to Djinn shenanigans is to offer one of the wishes to them in exchange for fulfilling to spirit of your wish, with no untoward twisting of the intent. Include in this payment that he must depart without harming you and your friends, either through action or inaction. If he fulfills these things in good faith, he will have access to a wish for himself.
This generally works, since it leaves open the impression your character would be willing to do this again for him in the future.

What spells or preparations could I take to ensure it couldn't just rampage when I bring him to the plane. I have a Wizard in the party and he's essentially the only other spellcaster. What other spells or slik tricks could I try to pull to help make the fight even short of Planar Binding?

Djinn are normally tied to a generic contract by the summoning item used (magic lamp or some such). This prevents the Djinn from using its abilities outside of the wishes. Because Djinn able (and willing) to grant wishes are Lawfully aligned, the best chance you have is to obtain a contract prior to summoning them.
If you think combat might be required, it would be best to have anti-magic preparations. Something to prevent spells, or to fireproof your chars would be good..
That said, you can always just go for the bum rush option- tie him up in multiple body grapples until he promises to behave (make sure to do a dimensional anchor first). A Djinn is strong, but a few high Str chars can handle him, depending on high important the Djinn is. Note this option might make further negotiations awkward.

Help me out here, /tg/.

I am writing up a GURPS modern fantasy setting. It is set on modern Earth (2010's), where magic became revealed to the public during the late sixties or early seventies. Now, we have access to Ritual Path Magic (for people who know GURPS), basically.

There are no dwarves, elves or any other sapient race other than humans in this setting - but there are magical animals. Proper enchantments (magic items) are very expensive, so people rely more on rituals (which are more temporary if not instantaneous). Magical tools to cast rituals (like foci, grimoires, places of power, human sacrifices, etc.) are in hot demand, driving some political and economic manoeuvring. Non-mages can buy charms and elixirs (disposable pre-cast rituals that have been infused into some consumable) on the magic market to effectively cast spells.

Point is, can anyone offer some ideas for adventure hooks or campaign starters? Try integrating local history, headline events, urban legends, and so on into some magical stuff.

The mayor of the city has announced new plans to allow magic mining from large scale companies due to the city's particularly strong magical energies. While profitable for the town itself, this threatens the local charm makers, ritual crafters, and the small magic businesses at large. The party needs to figure out how to get rid of these big companies coming into the city, either by convincing the mayor that it's somehow more beneficial to stick with local business, get rid of the mayor and hold off the deal, or go directly to the big companies and fuck with them.
