Dangerous fantasy creatures often possess natural abilities like fire-breath, powerful jaws, and nigh impenetrable armor. Yet these skills have become expected and repeated time and time again. What strange characteristics, natural or supernatural, would make an interesting monster?

Assuming He's not a primarch, what Chapter fits Guts the best? I'm doing my rendition of Guts as a Space Marine, and I'm not certain what chapter He should be. I'm thinking Lamenters, Given his penchant for struggling against absurd odds. any thoughts?

That does fit pretty well thematically.

>When we took that first grand leap across the stars, we expected to find many things.
>We didn't expect to find a graveyard.
>The universe is dying, and it's practically dead already. Superweapons launched by civilizations themselves long dead eat away at vast swathes of space. Vast, ever-expanding fields decorate the void. Some cause matter to simply split apart, others slow the speed of light to a foot or so per second, others still compress space into two dimensions. What the fields do matters not. What does is that every day, more and more systems are devoured.
>We have eleven thousand years, at most. If the theory of Exponential Expansion is true, we may not even get that.
>It gets worse. When we made that first FTL jump, we generated a signal. It's been recived.

>Be gangly-armed blacksmith's apprentice
>Have a crush on blond neighbor girl, she reciproates, we get engaged
>One day, the Oracle of the Azure Orb arrives in town, says that she is the Chosen One destined to wield the Blade of Eternal Endings and defeat the Thousandfaced Demonking to bring peace to the land for 1000 years
>Offer to go with her, I'm not bad with a hammer
>Oracle tells me no, I must stay behind and create the Ultimate Armor
>Over the next year, I forge the shit out of a piece of armor, making the greatest thing anyone in the village has ever beheld
>A few days later, a passing merchant tells us that the Demonking was defeated and that they'll throw a parade in the capital
>Spend all of my money to go to the capital in time
>There's a big parade, and the king announces that the Chosen One will succeed him as queen, and to celebrate she'll marry her sidekick on the journey the bumbling wizard, he's so wacky
>She surveys the crowd, we lock eyes for a moment, she doesn't even recognize me
>Return home and marry the slightly overweight redheaded baker's daughter
>Die of gangrene at 42
>Last thing I ever see is the Ultimate Armor I hung in our bedroom
What's up, my fellow peasants?
Honestly what we ought to do is just get real strong. I'm hearing talk of this exercise thing you can do to really build those muscles. Imagine a whole village that can defend itself from monsters, so we don't need to pay those pesky adventurers anymore.
So former Dwarf ere.
I was a miner working in a human town near the northern mountain ranges.
One day I went to drink something ye tallfolk call "wine" that some merchants brought in from the south.
I drank just wee too much of the good stuff and ended up losing my freedom to some gangly human wizard who put a magic slave collar on me.
The guy had me locked up in a birdcage and had me only drink his potions till I keeled over.
Now the problem is that me body was gone and I was dead like a iron mole that met a rust monster.
The wizard at least had the morals to bring me back by casting Reincarnate on me.
Only problem is I got brought back as a lanky knoife ear from the woods.
Thank the booze he finally released me after that and I got to leave.
Now here's my problem:
How do I face my wife and son with the fact that I'm now 7ft tall and have pointy ears?
I guess I can only switch from drinking Ale to drinking Moonshine now. Newer liked the strong taste while I was a Dwarf but now it tastes godly.

You can do virtually anything with magic, and you can do only a limited number of things with your sword, most of them involving violence or combat in some way.

Does the Early Modern period have anything interesting besides Pirates?
>>54219502
Check out Colonial Gothic.
>>54219502
Musketeers, witch hunters, conquistadors, etc.
>>54219537
I'm intrigued. It's not that I dislike pirates, but I'd like to explore more angles to the period.
Anyone want/expect new releases for these guys? The early 8th edition meta certainly seems to favor them. How about an exclusive tank named after another Primarch?
I really doubt they'll get anything new, since they were pretty much an 'accessory army' when they had their own codex, and now they've been rolled back into main IG list. At least we can use all the IG toys without having to pay alliance taxes though. I'm excited to run mine with Hellhounds, sentinels and rough riders.
>>54220035
I don't think GW would make a separate Scion codex again, but maybe they will get some attention.
>>54221475
I hope so, it would be a shitty move by GW if they where to release a seperate codex for the Scions, but some extra attention would be nice.
>>54219440
I would rather see the Scions getting their own flyers.
Does your PC like hurting other people?
Beard best dude prove me wrong.
My character is a social superhero so no, but he will do it if he has too
One of my PCs is a khornate daemonhost in a dungeons: the dragoning game from a war-hell-daemon-angel world of eternal war and suffering.
She's indifferent on hurting people, but she *really digs* hurting villains.
>>54219404
No.
I'm pretty much a goody-two shoes; I almost always go for LG characters.
Closest thing I ever played was a TS sorcerer, who would kill people if necessary, but always try find another way first.

>>54218383
I liked it. It wasn't the best rpg by any means but it was good for a hack and slash good time.
As an rpg? No.
As one long dungeon, hack'n'slash, I love it.
SLEEP IS NO REFUGE FOR IMPURE THOUGHTS!
There comes a time in every alien Warlock revolutionary’s life when compromises need to be made. Compromises like breaking your archenemy out of a stable time loop in which they burn to death for all eternity, in order to stop your grief-crazed, time travelling son from destroying reality by crashing a black hole and a white hole together. It might also involve travelling into the distant future of earth and confronting the demon your archenemy accidentally created when they burned an entire race of peaceful psychics for fuel oil.
Nemesis the Warlock is a 2000AD series that is filled to bursting with mad ideas that 40k shamelessly stole from. Along with the ABC Warriors, a series about ancient PTSD ravaged warbots with which it crosses over, it is one of the longest running and best-loved of all the classic British comic’s properties.
