so recently i ran small encounter where a mysterious man with a deck of cards offered to play a game with people and the ask for anything as the wager. but if they lose they lose something of equal value to what they asked for.
the catch is even if they win, what they get is a trap too, so if you ask for wealth and lose, you lose all the money you own but if you win, the money is cursed or magic in some way.
in this situation the players were skeptical however each of them won the card game so they all won free gifts form the guy, and all are under the impression this was harmless.
>feelsgood.jpg
one guy got his sight back, one guy has rapid magic recovery, and one guy is the one I'm having issues with.
the player was covered in a magic branding covering his whole body, marking him as a traitor to his people and others who see this marking know him as a traitor.
now that his branding is gone hes really happy, now I'm stuck on what the backfire is going to be, whats the Genies curse? I'm trying to think how these brands are going to affect him.
help me out? I'm not very good at this haha, I'm pretty new.
He is no longer a traitor. So what he done is now undone. He lose something that he get out of that treachery.
>>54230347
ooh thats gold! i hadn't thought about something like this
>>54230347
Alternatively, rather than simply treason he killed his entire clan, or whatever equivalent. He isn't marked as a traitor by them but he has genocide on his hands, and perhaps that isn't a secret.
What abilities do you have that need tweaking?
What color combos are you struggling to get right?
What mana costs are you unsure about?
What new cards have you made?
What new set abilities are you working on?
MTG custom card general!
>>54229582
Here are two i've been tweaking.
I know everyone hates phyrexian mana but I wanted to give it a go.
The Hunted Demon is very closely related to Hunted Horror and doesnt seem too crazy.
The Dark Promises might be over powered, perhaps make it a two card draw? Or would that then be too weak?
What does /tg/ think of them?
>>54229606
Doh. The "any Number" part on Dark Promises should say "all copies".
>>54229606
Here are my Hunted creatures.
I need to specify that Hunted Knight is white, I also need to come up with a Blue Hunted creature, and probably a Red one.
What would happen if Doomguy was released into the Eye of Terror?
Did you play DOOM? That, for eternity but with bigger guns.
>>54228072
Same as Kaldor Draigo but butter.
>>54228072
>>54228104
Basically this. Are you familiar with Tuska Daemonslayer?
That.
How can we make pirates scary again?
>>54226848
bring back gangrene and abscessed teeth.
>>54226848
They stopped being scary? Keep in mind, fear is fun, fear fades, fun can last forever.
Provide temporary stat bonuses for graphic murders and rape.
Truly only good things will come of this.
How to make bandit fights and encounters interesting, dramatic? If players lose the battle, they are likely to be killed \ taken as slaves \ raeptime \ other unfun things.
>>54225252
Only the first one of those - being killed - leads to an instant game over, and it's also probably the last thing they'd do.
Party will be taken as slaves, and they then need to fight their way out of it. And it'll be decidedly fun, even tense and gripping.
>>54225252
What's the point of bandits taking slaves? Seems like it's be easier to just slit everyone's throat and loot all their shit.
>>54225294
Slaves are as valuable as any loot.
Can we get a 40k humor and memes thread going?
Fireball is the best spell.
It's so elegant in its simplicity: just a ball of fucking fire, chuck it at a target and watch them burn. None of the fancy-pansy overcomplicated bullshit.
It fits in nearly any world, setting, system, or magical rules: few are the ones that, given a sufficient amount of power and experience at least, wouldn't allow you to mold their arcane energies into a ball of incendiary doom. Those few exceptions suck.
It's devastatingly effective: there's so many problems a well-aimed explosion could solve.
It makes for fancy fireworks, glows nicely in the dark, and you can do barbeque afterwards.
The screams of the dying are a music in my ears, and the smell of roasting flesh mouth-watering...
It's simply the best.
What is your best magic spell?
>>54222659
Wish or Miracle
>>54222659
Demon of the third circle is my favorite. That or maybe benediction of archgenisis
Polymorph/Shapechange might be my spell to go. I love all trasmutation spells due their impressive flexibility, but these two take the cake.
Need to fly? Turn into a giant bird! Need to shoot fire? Turn into a dragon! Need to fight in melee? Become an hydra and lay waste on all who cross you!
It's likely another spell that has been quite iconic since ancient mythology and more.
Where on MTG's color-wheel do each of the 40k factions and subfactions sit?
I figure AdMech is Red/Blue.
>>54221420
No way should Khorne shit be white. White is the color of law and order, the opposite of chaos. Nothing chaos should be white at all. Khorne should probably just be mono-red, or if anything else red/black.
>>54222922
Blood Pact troopers especially, and Traitor Guardsmen in general stay regimented, disciplined and coordinated in battle, if only by comparison to the rest of the regular cultists and other cannon fodder.
Discipline and order may be boring and fly in the face of Chaos's ideals, but it sure as shit works in battle.
Can the Emperor of Man spin?
>>54220687
Well, White-Room Death Battles are a terrible cancer, only enjoyed by autists with daddy issues.
And as we all know, people with daddy issues prefer Sith to Jedi, AND also insist that the Emperor Of Man was terrible.
So, clearly, Palpatine would win this.
>>54220687
What a silly question, of course the emperor would win

Do you allow legacy warscrolls in your games?
posting one such compendium warscroll which doesn't even appear in the GHB (it lists "Lord of Chaos" which is a totally different warscroll with a different weapons and a different command ability)
How are the beastmen doing in aos? I painted up a brey shaman because I thought he looked cool and am now considering getting more. I love the minis and I'm fine with playing a challengeing army but getting shit on every game wouldn't be fun.

What would be some of the reasons why an adventuring party would decide to live together?
>>54217041
All of them being hobos or having wierd demands?
>>54217041
Save in expenses.
>>54217041
One is a Thrallherd, one is a Vampire, one is a wizard skilled in Enchantment, the other is a bard.
They all have high libido.
Starting up a game set in the MAGICAL LAND OF THE ORIENT!

I'll post what I have, I invite everyone to join.
What would happen if all of /tg/ gathered in a single place and talked and played games?
>>54214733
The place would probably smell like death, and look like a freak show.
>>54214733
People would find outMy name isn't actually Wayne.
>>54214847
Kill yourself.
Have you ever written a catechism \ sacred text for your setting's religion? Alternatively, have you ever encountered one in your tabletop experience?
>>54204764
Not really. I don't see why you'd want to do this, unless you create a tl;dr version it would be an incredibly thick work that nobody wants to write and nobody wants to read for a tabletop game. I imagine this is also why fantasy settings tend to be overwhelmingly pagan: paganism is vague and doesn't have many official scriptures, if any at all. It generally tends to be an affair of "Sacrifice Y to Being X if you want Z, don't do A or B because that pisses being X".
>>54204970
It's a TL;DR version of Matthew from the New Testament.
The thing is, I'm a bit of a harsh DM and the setting in question has dark tones to it. Players have chosen to profess analog of Catholic Christianity because this is the most close\comfortable ethic system for them amidst all morally gray content, as I see it.
In setting, 'gods' can apply their agencies to those on 'material Plane', yet have other powers related to them and powers above. I've chosen to define ersatz-Jesus' forthcoming as a reference point of a new era when full-blown wizards appear in the world.
So, this tldr text is supposed to give players' info on this entity and his sayings, first of a kind in terms of coming from a god, about creation, divinity, arcane and divine magic, demons, devils, fae and so on. Also, how he behaved and what has become of him.

How strong do you guys figure a mortal sorcerer could make himself through Workings? Like, could he raise his Essence and give himself an Essence pool? How high should the maximum Essence be? What would he get out of it? If he could learn Charms, how strong should they be?
>>54202494
A mortal by definition has no Essence Pool, and if he could raise his Essence, what would that accomplish? There are no charms for him to learn and he his still locked out of higher tiers of Sorcery.
The most he could do is learn different 1st circle spells, or give himself mutations.
>>54202951
Did you miss the part where he said
>raise his Essence and give himself an Essence pool
