I'm the one playing the party healer. I'll try to pursuade the murderhobos I'm with not to kill the poor sod, but one of them will probably have the offending hand torn off before I can get halfway through my plea.
If he's lucky I'll manage to calm them down in time to save his life and limbs.

I played a few freeform games with someone who liked playing as Roll-like service bots or as someone who owned ones. He was the creepiest motherfucker I ever had the misfortune of meeting. For some reason, most of his other characters were children, too.

I know of only one other person who played as a living doll. He was alright when he played with us, but he refused to stop posting loli porn in our discord and spent a lot of time ironically shitposting about wanting to be the little girl.

Struggle too much with identity issues in every edition other than 4th.

They're like the bastard lovechildren of elves & dwarves and even the game itself tends to push them aside and act embarrassed by them.

Seriously, there's just no real niche for them that isn't treading on the toes of dwarves or elves to some degree.

I'm married to one. She gets away with about half of her nonsense. The other half frustrates her a bit.

I think her characters join groups to form a wall of meat between her and the opposition.

Halfway through the campaign they have to shout themselves hoarse (between games) and spend the rest of the story with a raspy whisper of a voice

tbf i don't like that kind of players.
In my setting players are rather weak adventurers, weak meaning they don't hold power, titles, positions in socjety untill about 8 lvl, so when one of players tries to be manipulative i usually let them do it for a few sessions while carefullyweave trouble around tchem, then everything comes crashing down BECAUSE they thought that they were smarter then kings, guild leaders or kingpins of the world. When they enter the phase when the characters hold some power (either a lord or a renowned wizard etc) gameplay becomes more political and they are more careful, remebering last time they tried to outsmart everyone. They do not try and win it all as they know that there are more powerfull and experienced NPCs on political stage.
BUT if a player sees through my deceptions and prepares accordingly i let tchem win, after all I as a GM know everything from the backstage so i can shape the story and motivations of NPCs as i will, so if they can outsmart someone who has full control of the world, they deserve a prize.
BUT if they win this battle of wits, they bring attention of more powerfull Npcs to themselves and the political stage becomes harder.
tl;dr I punish them using plot if they try to be manipulative but i don't necessarily want tchem to loose, if they are smart enough, they are rewarded and challenged harder.

There might be a wide spread inbreeding problem 2 or 3 generations down the line.

Without looking I want to say dragons in older art are rarely much bigger than people if not smaller, but I assume that has more to do with the style than anything else

Let's say it's the crusades. You get some dude from France going into what's now Israel and finding on a Rock a lizard. And not a dinky little inoffensive thing who only wants to eat bugs in peace like he'd have found at home, i'm talking a two 2 meter long Varanid with a bad attitude. Whatever would allow sectors/systems/planets to operate mostly independently while having fealty and a cultural connection to a mostly hands-off power centre. So either some feudal or federal system I guess. You can't micromanage that many people from the middle (and depending on your ftl rules may be mostly impossible) so you need to be able to trust them to run themselves sensibly while still meeting their tithes and military obligations

another option is an anarcho-communist situation where they all try to avoid unnecessary hierarchies and have councils and quorums to vote on everything. No central government unless they decide to convene one.
