My campaign is coming to an end (final mission).
I've had a lot NPCs that have become really good friend and even became in relationship with most of the PCs. there are a large amount on the roster, and my characters really like them.
However, in this mission things are going to become very bad for them, and It's been leading up for a while. All of the PCs and almost all NPCs will need to be involved in this cataclysmic mission. I feel kinda bad killing off some characters, but they will do so in a very epic, cinematic way that'll give them peace and they'll be involved in the epilogue.
I still feel bad though. Should I sacrifice this feeling of realism, and give weight to death at the risk of making PCs feel depressed, or just ease up and not have that happen.
>>55348747
yikes. Fellow GM, I would urge you to take the time to choose well. Whoever dies will make your PCs cherish their remaining friends the more. Yes, some NPCs are going to die, but I have faith in your ability to make it matter. Don't have it come out of nowhere, throw some heroic sacrifices in there, and if your PCs try to save someone, let them. What are they fighting?
>>55348797
to actually answer your question, no. Don't give up the realism, don't compromise your vision, and always remember that in the end, it's their story.
>>55348797
>>55348821
That pic is pretty relevant. I like the show, but It would be Kamina like instead of the rest doing it so suddenly. I rather not give details because I know more than 2 of them check /tg/, but I've put so much thought and exact reason and planning into each separate moment. It'll kinda make them come to peace with themselves as well, to an extent. Knowing that the PCs can carry the torch.
Also NPCs have been at near death, if not dead-to-rights before.

Last thread was intresting...
With the copus amount of discussion
Getting back into 40k with 8th ed here, the rules on FW knights now are fucking crazy, but I'm not willing to cop out Games Shaftshop prices for resin.
Is Z still at his old 'idkxxxxx' email address or has he shifted?
Has anyone here bought anything from hellotoy_9 on ebay? Is he worth paying the little extra for quality or is he just at good as any other recaster?
How the fuck does on get onto Alpharius? I have his phone number somehow but I'm not sure if calling that would be bad etiquette, but I can't find his email anywhere.
>>55346717
No idea OP, but I'll bump and monitor this thread, I need recast Emperors children upgrade shit.
Z's contact info would be great to know
>>55346717
It took me a lot of time and messing around to get certain contact details. You're supposed to keep it on the down-low to protect the recasters. But its not like GW legal team will be prowling these boards right?
If someone can reassure me its safe to share here I will share what I have.
Have you ever forced your party out of their element and into a completely ridiculous situation?
Some days I feel that the ridiculous situations that they cause are their element.

As part of an upcoming challenge by group will be participating in a sort of game show filled with obscure questions and strenuous physical challenges in order to gain prizes and/or a slight edge in the up coming fight.
Should be a nice change of pace from the usual I do for these which boils down to "a fight, but the opponent has home field advantage".
Could your character defeat Sportacus?
Probably, but they'd become friends afterward. He would see Sportacus as a kindred spirit.

Hell yeah he could. They'd probably become buds after, though.

Yes. Save or die, bitch.

are chaos dwarfs the best fantasy race?
>>55344964
Yes. Mesopotamian aesthetics are criminally underrated for starters. Then take evil dwarfs and combine them with this look? Absolute winner winner chicken dinner right here.
>>55344964
>>55345194
Can you tell me more about chaos dwarves? I'm unfamiliar with their lore and themes

Cliffs: They're dwarves who worship chaos and use slave races and make daemonic war machines. They worship a god called Hashut who looks like a bull

Tell me about that character you never got to play. The one you really wanted to.
>>55344669
I designed a character made to kill my first character I ever played. My group has a bad habit of abandoning games before any resolution happens, so he never really got much development.
The motivation was I have absolute terrible luck, both IRL and on the dice, the first character quickly became based around this as a character trait. The Character designed to kill him is doing it to put an end to the curse.
>>55344669
A kooky Warlock/Cleric multiclass working as a scientist who studies demonology/Religion in his quest to discover more about the supernatural realm and quantify it.
I was simply turned off by how monumentally shity the cleric/warlock multiclass actually is.
>>55344669
I always wanted to play the equivalent of a pencil skirt wearing admin specialist who solved problems with tact, diplomacy, sick bureaucracy skills and knowing the right people to rough a man up if needed.

Good day and welcome to /tg/, the board where everything's made up and the experience points don't matter! That's right, the experience is sort of like your first job, meamingless in the long run.
Today we'll be playing a game called Scenes from a Hat: /tg/ Edition! We carefully collected suggestions from fellow elegan/tg/entlemen and randomized them in this hat. I'll select the scene suggestions at random and we'll see what kind of responses we get!

Where did Aaron Diaz touch you?
If Dyson spheres are so great a source of power in science fiction, then in D&D, why are magicians not seriously contemplating the prospect of creating vast megastructures that siphon the infinite heat and light of the Elemental Plane of Fire, the Quasielemental Plane of Radiance, and the Positive Energy Plane to achieve similar heights of power?
>>55331917
Because that doesn't fit the setting the creators were going for, and there is currently no mechanical way to accomplish such a feat. If you want to have something like that in your world, no one's stopping you.
>>55331917
I'm gonna go ahead and say that such megastructures would be not the work of men but of gods, and said gods have no interest in creating such a mechanical contraption for they already are mighty.
But I may be wrong on my canon.
Also, a pet peeve of mine, but
>similar heights of power
Nay, nigga. Every sun in the universe is the result of a portal spontaneously opening towards the Plane of Fire; harnessing its power would equate to harnessing at _least_ the power of every star in the galaxy. And that's freakingishly high.
Because most settings are not THAT high magic, you retard. When wizards capable of that kind of power exist, they are mostly useless, like Elminster, or se adventurers would have nothing to do.
Now, in Tippyverse this is possible, but Tippyverse is an excercise in powergaming, not a real setting.
Let's have a thread for images and ideas that fit the theme of "roadside weirdness:" surreal and unsettling things one might see if they drove across country.
I'll start us off.

An epic high-flying role-playing game about reborn god-heroes in a world that turned on them.

Is Autochthon's death and sickness because Law of Diminishment and Alchemical?
>>55320818
It might be in 3E, but that certainly wasn't the case in previous editions. Previously the sickness was just a part of Autochthon's nature, I think.
