Does anyone have any experiences about the Doom Trooper RPG? Any stories? Worth giving a shot? I have a soft spot for the setting, because my dad used to play the card game when I was a kid. And even though it's in large part a 40k and some other stuff ripoff, I think it had some cool elements and I love its aesthetics.
Also, I know it's pretty much dead, but is there any place where you can play the card game online? I liked how simplistic, and yet fun it was.
General Doom Trooper and Mutant Chronicles thread I guess, if anyone wants to talk about this old gem.
Eh, shameless self bump. One won't hurt

I don't know but it looks pretty fucking cool

Secret Cow Level are actually working on a digital reboot of the doomtrooper cardgame. There's also a brand new edition of the Mutant Chronicles rpg by Modiphius Games. The old card game can't really be called dead either, there's been a die-hard and dedicated player community that's kept the torch burning with tournaments and fan produced sets for years since it officially "ended". Even the old wargame's been brought back by Prodos Games.
I'm headed to bed, if this thread's still alive I'll be happy to post more about it all.
Has any of you guys ever used this system for a game? Im trying to read trough it to make a one-off game but confound me in places. Also one of the character sheets are missing which is a real real shame to me.

sorry dint post the link.
I don't have my own setting.
Considering coming up with settings isn't a voluntary action for me, I've been doing it compulsively since I was a child... I can kind of see how that would happen?
If they're not spontaneously forming themselves in your brain it's easier *not* to make them and use the work of a professional instead.

Gib some tips /tg/

Cut necrotic ooze for any legendary eldrazi
>>54296968
Necrotic ooze got suggested to me since i took buried alive. It's meant to synergize with triskelion and phyrexian devourer. If i replace the ooze i'd also replace the devourer. Would "it that betrays" and grave titan be ok? Or does it need to be emmy/kozi/ulamog?
Hey /tg/ i need some help with the features of a homebrew class im building.
Its basic gist is a dragonslayer alin to St George, a knight who hunts dragons. Yet i'm trying to extrapolate more on the bits of such mythos which are brushed over in terms of how they actually fought the beasts. So while armoured the dragonslayer would focus mainly on evasion and dealing as much damage as possible in single attacks (as it tends to be quite hard to hit a flying enemy multiple times)
To that purpouse i've got through 3 features so far:
Draconic knowlege (favoured enemy focused on dragons)
Resolute strike: one of two options, either every attack uses double the dice or a raw doubled damage, the first is a roundabout form of the fighters Action surge and the second seems a tad OP.
Move or die: grants a bonus against dodging, with draconic knowlege giving an extra levelled bonus against anything dragon-y.
It took me a while to get this far but even now i look back and im not really satisfied.
I wpuld have done it as an archetype for the fighter but i already have archetypes planned which i dont want to let go to waste (although combining one with the archetype idea could be a good enough alternative if it emerges my whole class idea is horseshit)
I should also add that i have no idea what the best way to implement move or die is as adding a +2 or something on saving throws seems op

A class just for dragon slaying seems a bit too specific to begin with. why not just build a good fighter, paladin, or ranger and flavor it as a dragon slayer?
What systems are good for urban fantasy?
Shadowrun?
Neverwhere. Shadowrun. Technoir. Dresden Files.

A metal dice a meme or actually good? Do they roll or are they just gimmicks like giant dice?
Well think about it
Metal dents surfaces so you’re required to use a mat of some kind if you’re not an asshole, they’re generally louder than most dice, they’re basically impossible to really check if they’re properly balanced, and lastly you can damage them kind of damage them easier than you think because of their weight, and lastly you can’t find them without paying an arm and a leg for fucking dice.
>>54296062
>and lastly
>and lastly
Shit I’m tired, ignore my retarded was
>>54296032
Theoretically they're awesome with great weight behind every roll.
In practice they're absolutely Shit because no one will allow you to roll them on a table, and using a dice tray defeats the purpose of being able to put their weight into the roll.
8mm Stone Dice chilled with a brick of Dry Ice are where it's really at.
what is your favorite tyranid unit?
>>54296029
Zoanthrope. Models are sick as, great lore behind them and excellent on the field so it's a win win.
>>54296029
The one with lore.
Whoops!
>>54296029
Genestealer. everything about them is cool. creating cults, breeding and creating hybrids, hypnotic gazes, not to mention their excellent close combat skill.
Fates Worse than Death is an cyberpunk setting with no guns. There is a serial killer running around overwriting peoples brains with his own mind. And since one group took control of all the drugs most gangs are about community.

Judging by that retarded looking lesbian on the cover it's a good thing too
There is an RPG about a sort of sentai fighting arena/game show where you can temporarily or permanently take control of an enemies power after you defeat them. I can't remember what it's called but it's two words, first word starts with an L. Last something?
>>54296167
I have to agree with this sentiment. Another garbage FATE supplement (back in the day it was d20 garbage; nowadays PbtA is the go-to for garbage generic systems).
This question may seem odd, but did anyone else feel a tinge of grief for the chaos renegades in DOW2? The poor bastards were corrupted to serve the ruinous powers of what seemed like against their will. Most notably the heretical guardsmen guarding Ulkair in retribution. Even those khornate cultists who captured the capital spire caused be to feel a shred of guilt for purgeing them. Kyras however was just an asshole.
They make lost and the damned really live up the the name. No hope, no future, but to be corrupted, and die by or for ruinous masters.
>>54295354
>I feel bad for evil cultists
I bet you must feel terrible any time muslims are on tv
>>54295354
>Don't you feel bad for spree killing lunatics who get off on causing other people pain
You know, not really.
>>54295354
>The poor bastards were corrupted to serve the ruinous powers of what seemed like against their will.
The Emperor protect the faithful, those scum were weak to begin with
>Make advanced homebrew system to have space opera adventures
>Complex rules for everything I can think of, two-dozen skills, a ton of options for everything
>Psychics, genetic augments, cyborgs, everything you can think of
>Players immediately carjack someone and solve every problem, and I mean every problem, by ramming cars, trucks, motorcycles, and occasionally ambulances into it until it's no longer a problem
I don't know whether to be happy or upset
Next time don't include any cars.
just make the rest of the story inside a building.
could be a 1000km long building sonce its scifi.
but no vehicule except for fast elevators/trains
"If it bleeds, we can kill it!"
"Bullets in bad men."
-My players
Usually it does solve the problem.
Hey /tg/. Never played DnD before in my life, but my gf signed me up for a online session that's gonna happen sometime soon.
I started reading up on rules and making several characters - so I can go with the most appropriate one depending on what the rest of the party is gonna be playing.
Book describes basically two ways of assigning stats - the "fair" one where you just spend a balanced out number of points like in a video game and the random one - rolling 4d6 and combining the 3 higher numbers. I went with the latter one, since it seemed more interesting. In the end one of the characters came out exceptionally strong, as far as I can judge.
So question - will it cause problems if I show up to the game with these stats? Should I just go ahead and cut them down? I would never cheat this since that would be boring but I can see how it would look bad to others.
Subsequently my second question is - Is the random way of making stats can only be used when you are making a character during the game, in front of all other players?
Depends on the group and DM really, but generally in my experience if your stats truly are random and you sound honest about it, the DM will accept it. The party at large would be happy with it, especially if you use your strength to be a fighter or barbarian character.
As a DM I allow my players to roll there own stats. If they come to the table with two 18s I know they cheated but I still let it slide. 3 or more 18s I will call bullshit.
>>54295217
Thanks! I was rolling a halfling Rouge and rolled 3 sixes on one of the stats. Naturally, I put it into Dex, making it 18 +2 that being halfling gives you made it 20.
The rest of stats are around average with strength being under 10. Would a character like that be acceptable to an average group?
Any advice for a first timer in general?
Anyone know where I can get the pdf file for the stargate sg-1 roleplaying game?
What are you all doing tonight?
I'm shaving the mold lines off of 20 Mantic Zombies to add to my Undead Horde.
The grind is real. I like these molds, but the mold lines around the fingers, their fragile, fragile fingers, make it difficult to clean well without breaking the fingers off.
What're your projects?
