Is everything supposed to be this cheesed in Imperial Mysteries?
>>
>>54455589
Yes.
>>
>>54455527

Not on this scale. You're talking about the difference between being able to fill up your car and operating an oil refinery.

Gathering and storing and forcing the flow of that much essence would be an act of Imperial magic unto itself.

Honestly, this sort of grand transfiguration and transformation would be the sort of thing worthy of Sealing an Omen, not some paltry singular spell; turn yourself into a god as a part of your path to Ascension.

Hey, /tg/. I've had an idea for a casual RPG after playing way too much Hand of Fate, sort of pick-up and play style thing. It uses a standard 52-deck of cards, a d3, and a d20 so far. I've got four characters + some abilities, four enemy factions, but no fluff or real solid crunch yet. Gimme a hand?

Working title is Dungeon Decks. I can post what I do have if you want.

Many know his work, but few know the man has his own agenda behind his dark creations. Using pictures and accompanying descriptions on his site, i suggest we create a setting that uses his work as a springboard. for those on his site without descriptions, make your own.

for now, use his fantasy illustrations, if you can justify something more scifi, then go right ahead. otherwise that may be another thread in the future.

>Blood flooded the dusty foreign streets and beaded upon the sword of the crusading knight. As years passed the knight's armour grew crisscrossed and his face wizened, leaving him satiated to return to civilized lands. Turning home he saw a fellow countryman fallen on hard times, swaddled in rags. Hefting him up onto the back of his horse, the knight told him
>"Come, we return to the warmth of our own hearths."
>The thin man stared, saying nothing as a weakened flicker of joy seemed to wash across his gaunt face. The two rode across the continent, backtracking the knight's scorched and blasted path.

>The days passed silently. "You say nothing, friend, but your companionship means much. Though I worry your health seems worse." The passenger stared at the knight, who himself seemed tired by their journey. On their many stops for water the knight found himself too weak to carry on, but his companion held him up in support.
>"Resolve fills me as I look upon you, so ill and yet mustering strength enough to aid me. These sores pain me so, and spread 'cross my body in mockery of our righteousness spreading across heathen land. Looking upon you I'd swear you were dead, but your compassionate efforts betray you as a saint!"
The knight's eyes welled with tears, and in his vision a corona formed around the now starkly thin passenger's head.
>Lolling in his saddle, but supported by the gaunt man sitting behind him, the knight pointed feebly to his hometown in the distance. The sudden baleful braying of the passenger's horn drowned out the knight's last rasping breath as it rattled in his iron helm.
The townsfolk cry out in joyful congregation at the sight of the single man upon his horse; not seeing the curled figure of pestilence crouching behind him, only bearing witness to their errant knight's pregnant homecoming.

WICKER MAN

During the great celebrations of Beltane, the pagan masses form huge parade lines as they cavort, naked, in step with the Wicker Man whose rider leads them across the spring landscape. Inside the Wicker Man's structure the sacrifices burn in offering to Jack-in-the-Green, and a huge intoxicating cloud billows back into the madly frothing parade.

Key Features:

Druidic ceremony master blindly steers the Wicker Man towards the faint image of the gibbous moon he can just make out through his veil.

The oily, pungent smoke trailing behind the Wicker Man acts as a trance inducing incense for the following parade.

The sacrifices that fill the Wicker Man are voluntary, but rarely maintain this commitment when the fire is set.

These reins are merely ceremonial, and the Wicker Man strides forth in a straight line until it burns down (the location of its halting designates the site for further rites).

While mystically powered and animated, the structure of the Wicker Man still needs wooden joints to move in its characteristically loping gait.

Got an idea for a setting. It's reconstruction but with dragons. There was a civil war in a dragon ruled continent between Chromatic and Metallic dragons over whether they should let humans rule themselves. The Metallics won, but spared the Chromatics.

What about kobolds & dragonborn? What are they doing in this new system? Are dragons still allowed in the new human lands or did they leave/get kicked out respectively?

And how do the other races react?

Hi everyone.

Basically just want someone to help me figure out some things for two systems in particular.

Can the Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars RPG be refitted to the KotOR era? Does anyone have experience with that kind of thing, and does it work well? I've never tabletop'd Star Wars but I know a lot about the setting, and /tg/ seems to generally agree it's a good game.

Secondly, where do people recommend one start with the World of Darkness games? I've seen Hunter and Vampire recommended in particular. I don't know much about WoD other than there is some weird lore separation from new and old WoD? Can anyone tell me more about how these games work and which of them are generally more entertaining?

Thanks. :)

>Can the Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars RPG be refitted to the KotOR era
Yes, it can be done. I don't know why would you want it, but it can be done. You WILL need to refluff some things, however, and that requires a DM open to refluffing.
>Secondly, where do people recommend one start with the World of Darkness games
They're all trash.
>>
>>54454285

I prefer the thematic flavor of KotOR to the movie era. Prosperous Sith Empire and whatnot. I am the DM and I am willing to refluff, but all the mechanics for Jedi and whatnot are more or less transferable?

Could you expound upon why WoD is trash? I vaguely remember enjoying a oneshot game I played several years ago of VtM.

So, my group just blew up.

>Playing something that's a bit too long to call an adventure, but a bit too short to call a campaign, we just blew up in our 14th session.
>Reasonably early on, players ran into an NPC, a disgraced swordsman who got sidelined out of a very distinguished duelling/tournament career because of religious politics.
>Now spends most of his days in a backwater fort, generally grumpy at the world.
>Players met him, befriended him (entirely incidentally by beating up a guy he disliked before they even found out the enmity between the two), and since he's really good with light swords, offered to train anyone in the use of them.
>In game, that means they have to spend fewer XP if they want to rank up that particular weapon skill if they train with a master.
>One of them does so, and on occasion when they returned to the fort to practice I mentioned how he helped her character's stance, form, sparred, etc, describe him with terms like "unbelievably fast"
>Latest session, get up to rank 10, the peak of human skill.
>Head back to her former mentor to show off for a practice spar.
>No rolls or anything, (the other spars for training were simply narrated), just say that she duels him to a draw, to the astonishment of the other soldiers looking on.
>Total meltdown of half the group, starting with our swordswoman.
>OMG! Why is the NPC who has never been stated to be anything other than an unbelievably good fencer extremely good at fencing? Why can't I beat him in a fencing match?
>Why isn't he out saving the world? Isn't he this badass super-fighter?
>Get accused of DMPCing (not in those words), and "shit worldbuilding", since apparently 'every NPC is stronger than we are, so why do they need us'?

Why the hell does this happen? I realize it's not every player out there, but there seems to be a lot of people who get incredibly insecure about powerful NPCs; and I'm not talking setting breaking ones, just competent NPCs.

Do you want to DM for our group instead. I can promise you that won't happen.

We do have a guy that breaks all immersion constantly to make dick jokes though.
>>
>>54453910
I'm quite certain that you're telling only half the story, and if any of your players were here to tell the tale, your game would be shown in a much different light.
>>
OP, if someone is at the highest rank of a skill, and wants to show off, that sounds like they want there to be rolls. While you may not want to drag out a practice spar, these little things can be the things that your players end up loving.

Just spend a little more time letting the players explore and learn more about the world and the people in it, learning about the greater storyline and world at large.

Have other players experienced this? Did your GM make it clear before the game started that purchases have to be verisimilitudinous? What are you trying to buy?
>>
>>54453199

I explain why I considered it thematically appropriate and point out the precedent for taking it, or remind the GM that we talked about refluffing it.

Because my group isn't a dysfunctional mess of bad communication, most of the time.
>>
>>54453285
Other players didn't have that problem, since their purchases were adapting to the situation, you took one skill that was out of the blue, but you presume it might come in handy
DM didn't straight up state that, but said that "purchases" need to make sense IC-wise
Purely theoretical situation

A large amount of Terran forces are from that general area, but I don't think they're actually Persian. They have fictional names like Xeric and shit, but almost all of them had a pan-oceanic background since that was the reigning empire before unification.
