the players have finally gotten off their asses to make their way to the first "Dungeon" of my campaign.
theyre going to the temple located deep within the mountains, once a terrible event happened here and now its abandoned. aside from he demons that resulted from the event (the event? I'm not entirely sure, but it caused demons)
within they will be fighting of course the demons that have persisted here, but also for some reason another faction of creatures is tearing the place apart looking for something (the same thing theyre here for)
theres no tl;dr sorry, I'm looking for help.
I'm trying to think of more stuff to throw in here, so far I've got
- having to keep from alerting the troops of roaming monsters.
- Find the key to open a majority of the doors in here without breaking them down or lockpicking them
- pits of this black goop that will potentially attack them cause demons whatever
- terrain and cover actively falling apart
- couple hard to kill enemies that use debilitating effects
- a roadblock where they have to restore the holy symbol to the statues in the room for the door to open
- and the final guardian being the priest that was at the center of this outbreak
thats about all i got, i was trying tot think of non shabby problems to throw at them, in terms of traps. but i can't reasonably think about why there might be traps the players would have to avoid? the demons wouldn't set them up, the new faction hasn't been there long enough. maybe the priests set them before they were all killed by the demons?
and uh, anyone got anything they wanna add? I'm sure some people have done churches/monasteries before?
and thats about it.
oh fuck how could i miss why i originally came here. what i get for taking a shower mid post.
I wanted to reward the players with various holy relics as they progress through the dungeon, but I'm having so much trouble thinking of relics to add on top of their gear instead of replacing their gear.
as opposition, i was thinking about having a "friendly" demon offer them stuff as a reward for giving him the artifacts instead.
side notes
- heres the map i found and plan on re configuring to work for my needs.
- secondly, i have never run something with this much damage so i was considering having "Healing Zones" since the system doesnt incorporate rests like D&D, i was hoping to get your guys thoughts on that.
I've been shitting up some random magic artifacts, I'm still here if anyones interested?
- Sword that can convert 1/2 the damage its dealt into healing
- Shield shaped like a cross that can guard multiple allies
- Amulet that lets you recover from one killing blow essentially
- Collar and crown, anyone wearing the collar is controlled by the wearer of the crown
- Holy hand grenade, a grenade with good holy damage, limited uses.
- Holy Knives of the Father, neat little knives that mark a foe and make them take damage for 1dX turns
- Crusaders Garb, reduces all evil damage, but not very effective against non evil shit
- earrings of the angel, allows you short term flight
- Healing Draught, a chalice with a healing liquid in it, but its only got enough sips for 3 uses.

unfortunately I'm still having trouble with more add ons, Its easy to make equipment that replaces.
What do you think about japanese take on dwarfs /tg/?
>>54451716
fine?
The fact that dwarves have beards in the first place always confused me (them being not!Jews isn't an excuse), since they're a subterranean species, but I have no bias one way or another.
>>54451716
japanese male dwarves are dwarves
japanese female dwarves are aimed at pedophiles as their target audience
Draph aren't dwarves.
I guess I'll do it this time.

How much do you create on your own for you campaigns? How much do you randomly generate?
>>54442297
I shamelessly steal bits and pieces from everywhere and stitch them together. Wandering monsters and their treasure account for nearly all my randomization.
Also holy shit please stop forgetting the trove
>>54442317
See that third link up there? The trove is right there.

Thanks bruv
>fills the character sheet with numbers that mean nothing but are there because they always were
>filled with archaic mechanics that the rest of the industry abandoned decades ago.
>plays like, and is written to be, a war-game where your army is reduced to a single guy
>1d20 roll over for all checks, which makes your stats practically useless as it's almost entirely luck or not wether you succeeed, not your build
>supposedly rules medium but in reality just over-complex in certain departments and over-simplified in others without ever finding a solid middle-ground to stand on
>>54438323
This is how Americans think RPGs should be. Their burger filled brains cannot comprehend role play as something deeper than "oh no, these are orc babies, should I kill them or not?"
>>54438323
So this is the power of marketing
Op question: How're we building Crisis Suits now? 3 Flamers?
>>54361041
Sadly, until a much-needed internal rebalance, triflamer suits are basically the only thing that crisis have over similarly equipped Commanders. I have some ideas for other crisis loadouts, but they're all inferior to commanders doing the same thing right now.
>>54361680
What about 2 flamer 1 fusion blaster?
>>54362263
It's an odd loadout, as those two weapons are generally intended for opposite targets, meaning that the suits would be somewhat mediocre against either.
What's the best superhero system? M&M is terrible.
>>54448586
The problem is that 'superhero' is a really wide genre so no one rpg is going to be a good all-round superhero game without also being really generic.
That said my favourite is Masks: A New Generation, it focuses as much on the team dynamics and social drama between the PCs as it does the heroics which I like for giving the game stakes (since the PCs can't actually die) and helps give the fights with various villains a bit more emotional depth.
It's Wild Talents.
>>54449570
This. It can be dense to new comers, but that is more a "problem" with superpowers then anything.
Post your ideas for the next BioShock game or discuss the original trilogy and DLC.
Inspired by a thread I saw on here a few weeks ago.

It's your fault for not overseeing character creation.

you brought this on yourself
What if the Library of Alexandria never burnt down?
Pic unrelated maybe
>>54468241
It's a romantic image but the library was in decline for a long time before the events that might have destroyed it. So, it would probably not change anything.
>>54468545
This
It's a romantic idea that such a bastion of knowledge was destroyed by a bunch of rampaging barbarians and what could have been were it not for its loss
But it really wasn't as bad as it's been romanticized to be
>>54468241
What if Alexander never died?
Post reasons why you've left previous games, or had to kick a player, not including scheduling stuff. Looking for stuff on the tier of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--lGnFC4otM
I'll start.
Two weeks ago, my character died. I'm now seriously considering leaving our biweekly game. It's not so much that I was inordinately attached to the character - it's moreso the way things ended up happening.
Long story short, I was pestering our DM. I thought it would be really funny if he gave me a way to permanently turn into an elephant. Now granted, I was always assuming that there would be some way to change back but I never made this clear. Hence, I think the DM wrote this character off as "anon doesn't want to play this character anymore."
>>54464910
Fast forward to last week. An evil wizard changes me into an elephant - I assume shenanigans are to ensure. I run around like an asshole for thirty minutes, I guess wasting everyone's time. We secure a mcguffin that might change me back and attempt to use it - lo and behold, it turns me into a hideous monstrosity that the team then has to fight. They fight, they win, I die. Permanently.
>DM has to stop in the middle of his sentences every three words just to breathe and usually he repeats the last word of his sentence so everything he says drags on
>also he lets out this weird laugh whenever something dies or crits/crit fumbles and has to pause in the middle of speaking just to get his little bit of laugh in
the result is something like this
"hhuuhh...so the um... hhuuhh hehehehe... the um ogre take his... um, hhuhhh hmmm... club and hehehehe lifts it up, huhh and brings it down hhuhehehehhuhh down upon your uhh head"
everything took forever and a 4 hour long session would usually consist of a minuscule amount of roleplaying and two simple, short combat encounters. weirder yet, whenever he was talking in certain NPCs voices, he would talk 90% more normally and pause much less often.
also he also made it to where we killed a goblin who had an orc as a passionate gay lover and i just lost all interest in the campaign after that. it seemed like everything was improvised and he had 0 maps or tokens ready for any encounters at all besides a map of the starting town we were in. and we were supposedly playing princes of the apocalypse.
What do you eat whilst adventuring?
Mostly MREs, occasionally local fauna and flora.
>>54463863
I don't like your character art, it looks gross and is hard to understand. Is that skin or armor or something else? Dose that thing have 2 sets of ears? Don't even get me started on that face. A complete mess.
Most campaigns I play in focus more on things other than food. So at the start the party will buy "rations" and never worry about eating unless for role playing like when you enter a bar or something.
I did just end a campaign where I was a cook for an ant-artic expedition. I would cook up the "spam like stuff" and cook up whatever wildlife we could hunt.
>>54464228
>I don't like your character art
The fatty lovers are getting anxious again. They posted this character in another thread too. Prepare yourself for a wave of fatposting.
MaRo asked me for a picture today at SDCC!
Have you been to a game con/tournament, /tg/?
>>54463801
>not whispering "mind if I bring the rest of the Jacetice League in for the next shot?" into his ear
Missed oppurtunities.
>>54463801
Why do I have the feeling that if I gis the picture in the OP I would find it posted somewhere else before this
>>54464702
I mean, that's likely, but irrelevant
Besides pictured, what are some decent Original RPGs spawned by Kickstarter? There's plenty of reprints of great games, but what other way out-there and inventive ideas have been successfully published through KS or other crowdfunders that you've seen and enjoyed? It's hard to find them underneath the waves of miniatures-heavy board games.
>>54463517
Strike! and Shadow of the Demon Lord spring to mind immediately.
Z-Land. Well, it's as original as zombies get.
I'm waiting on Red Markets myself, I love futzing with economies and performing CAPITALISM in my games.
>>54463555
I forgot about SotDL, that's some solid stuff. Really scratched the WHFRPG itch for me, while be something new as well.
what kinds of ways could someone make a druid character unique while still keeping them intertwined with their class?
Drugs, bestiality, eco-terrorism.
>>54463216
What do you mean? How to play a druid without having to be a forest dwelling loincloth wearing weirdo?
Ever see that one old dude who is a professor at the university and is always out in the field and in the mountain and can tell you everything there is to know about all the plants there?
Basically make druids Nature Wizards. They could be scholars or they could be religious mystics
>>54463216
>cookie cutter powers
>unique
By being good at writing and roleplaying.
Try consuming media that involves characters with similar powers. That can give you inspiration.
