Start at level five or eight, make the new guy's player. Fuck knows he won't get though D&D's awful chargen process in a timely manner. Just make him a champion fighter or some other braindead class.

Do not do this. Unless you really want to kill the new player's enthusiasm.

If you want to start them at the lower levels then do so, if the group is entirely against doing that then walk the new player through the character generation process. Ask them what they want, offer them the mechanical options for that.

If it's a simple or intuitive system then hopefully it won't be too daunting a task.

The closest I can get was yesterday, when I played a game of chess against some old dude. I lost mostly because of some dumb moves where I effectively gave away my queen, my bishop and my rook. By the time he checkmated me, he didn't even expect it. He said that he saw a checkmate coming, but didn't expect to get it so soon.

In the past few weeks I've been beaten by an old man and a 12 year old girl. I think it's time to stop.

Have no shame anon, chess is a very easy game to loose if you make one silly mistake in the opening rounds.

Keep trying anon, you'll eventually learn how to plan and counter-plan three moves ahead. It's hard going, but it will all be worth it after your first hard-won win.
Unless you lost in the first our turns. Then maybe it's time to hang up your gloves.

A small, fat man who insists he's a droid even though you can clearly see his skin between the metal plates he wears as a costume.

Alternate universe versions of the party.

Grand Moff Tarkin's tea cozy. Utterly unremarkable aside from its famous previous owner. Smells faintly of lavender.

A large, unmarked crate of spice, freshly mined from Kessel.

A droid from the Clone Wars that has been trapped on a feral world ever since and only recently learned the war was over.

A personalized holo recording of young Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi to an adoring fan they rescued.

And Imperial-class Star Destroyer adrift in space. No power of any sort. No life nor droid signs detected yet they can year something is moving around inside(once they board to investigate of course).

A Duchess offering a 50,000,000 credit reward to whomever can retrieve her family's ring. It got lost on a trash barge and dumped on Ord Mantell. She will absolutely know if the ring she's presented is the real thing.

Why does no one ever want to talk about the Chtorr? Is there a place I can go where I can find decent discussion about it? For a series with 4 books and a GURPS book with over 100 pages there seems to be little discussion about it even though the setting would mix well with a lot of other settings. (Fallout and Elder Scrolls are two I have in mind for it)

GURPSGEN focuses pretty well on the generic part, talking about a lot of different game times and making fun of that one guy that made a unicorn that couldn't beat someone 50 points and 6 TL lower then himself.

The SJG forums should be a decent place to talk it if you don't mind the slower pace.

Requesting a drawing of my Half-Elf Inquisitive Rogue/Hexblade Warlock.

He is a detective, very serious, intimidating, and shows no fear.

He also uses a sentient rapier that has a Spanish accent and is usually cracking jokes or wisecracks. Have fun with it

Requesting a warlock none-too-subtly based upon Bloodborne.

He carries a large slug-type creature smushed into a jar which is his warlock Patron, entirely unaware of the character himself.

He's a highly inquisitive and investigative type, and carries no weapons, relying instead on eldritch powers to fight with. He has a short, neatly trimmed beard, with dark brown hair and green eyes. If drawn with the helmet-mask on, it has a snail motif about it.

Feel free to try out whatever sort of pose you'd like for him, or if you want an idea he might be peering into the jar, studying the slug-thing.

Depending on where this final showdown is happening, try to use your minions as distractions rather than opponents. If there are any civilians nearby have them target that, forcing a hero to break off from the main group to rescue them.

Being able to personalize challenges for each party member goes a long way. Offer something only the powerhouse can solve, create a problem only the speedster can solve, have an issue only the psychic can solve. You don't have to do this every time, but being able to offer challenges such that each character shines in their own way really helps.

My last Villain had a lieutentant sorceress who was originally a cat and was turned into a woman by the Villain. She was very grateful to him for giving her sentience so she did not back down like the rest of the villain's allies when the party came a-knocking.

If we try to be "realistic" about it, most of what constitutes for human mind stems from our complex brains, that allows for complex thought processes and learned behavior. However, a huge portion of "proper" human behavior is precisely that learned behavior, so an animal that was suddenly transformed into a human, would lack those learned behaviors.
If they retain the simple memories their animal selves gained during their life before their transformation, one could imagine that those memories would have an impact on their human selves, but to what degree, is hard to say. The question also depends on WHAT animal is transformed. A dog for example, actually is very close to humans in terms of how they understand social interaction etc (it is one of the key reasons we are so good palls with the doggos), while something like a frog is so far away from our state of mind that it is hard to even imagine what (if anything) goes on in their heads.

Depends. If the spell increases the animal's intelligence, then maybe they can be taught. If not, it's still that animal in mentality, it just now has human features.
Actually had an instance of the latter pop up in an Anima game. turns out some dumb young wizard student got his mits on the Chimera spell, was running around turning different wildlife into humanoids in the hopes of getting his rocks off. It led to some serious insanity further on, when the party was called in to capture some of the strays. do you have any idea how hard it is to get a woman out of a tree when she's chittering like mad at you, pelting you with acorns, and naked?

Is there a Separatist Imperium that is opposed to the Regular one, like a North and South Korea situation? Is there a bunch of separatist states the Imperium can't squish?
