How would you put a fresh spin on vampires?
Literally play them straight, we're living in an age of deconstruction so obsessed with subverting expectations that an honest-to-goodness haughty decadent nobleman the villagers rightfully fear as a wolf-controlling, bat-shifting, blood-sucking bastard is fresh.
>>54516307
Get this: instead of blood, they feed onsemen
>>54516334
I feel like almost every hentai with vampires uses this twist.
The 90s Romeo and Juliet film ran with this concept and it was fairly entertaining
Nothing too specific, but what melee/premodern ranged weapons would you match with modern classes of Guns? Light Machine Guns, Battle Rifles, Snipers, etc, etc
>>54516051
Pistols particularly revolvers have similar use in american media to swords. This comes from the correlations between the wandering stranger in westerns and the knight errant in European romance. They also share their use as the quintessential weapon in their respective genres despite only really being side arms.
Other things I can think of are shotguns and spears both being sort of peasant / ungentlemanly weapons, as well as body armor and rifles/lances being a good way to invoke the 'strong arm of the law' imagery.
In the film it equates Lord Capulet's longsword with a very large, heavy duty shotgun on the basis that compared to the rapiers and daggers that the younger family members have it was very deadly but larger, slower, a little old-fashioned and certainly less stylish.
>>54516196
Not to mention dueling is only ever really done with sidearms
>>54516303
Something of note too is that I think Tybalt's "Rapier" is an extended and more decorated pistol too
What about broader equivalencies, since the Romeo and Juliet film takes place in a criminal underworld, smaller concealed weapons are only ever displayed.
Surely a sniper or scoped weapon of any kind would find its equivalence in a bow or crossbow right? What about really big swords?
What are some good concepts for hive fleets that are unique but not too lore breaking? I feel like all the current fleets are too similar, with only gorgon and jormungandr seeming distinct. There doesn't seem to be too much variance between Kraken, behemoth and leviathan.
Hive fleet ouroboros.
Tyranids that fell into the warp and adapted to it.
They show up in real space and slaughter stuff before dissipating.
>>54515497
Wait... can they? Do Tyranids have souls?
>>54515748
they have *A* soul more likely then not.
There are nid psykers after all, that implies a soul
So how above the law and Inquisition authority is the Ad-mech?
Complete independent branch.
>>54512462
Admech is separate entity outside of regular Imperial organisation but with representation in the highest offices. It's basically another (trans)human state coexisting with the Imperium of Man. Cult Mechanicus is the second human empire which belongs to the Emperor.
>>54512462
>Inquisition authority
hard to infiltrate/10
But there are canon examples of the Assassins and Inquisition infiltrating their organizations so I imagine they aren't quite as above the law as they think.
Are there mutant or transformed humans in your setting, /tg/? Are they suffering or have they accepted their new lives?
Yes. My favorite cliche is to add an entire race of cursed humanoids. Their level of suffering varies from person to person.
>>54508366
>>54508313
Yeah, but most of them are proud races of monster dudes who barely or incompletely culturally remember their origins. Of the remainder, some have deliberately entered into arrangements where weird spirits inhabit their bodies and so are probably chill about the freakishness involved... people who were born that way or have been fucked up by spiteful sorcerers are probably mostly suffering, though.

You could pull off a rather bland meatloaf that way.

No? Elf meat is still meat.

This interests me. Because I'm genuinely curious what D&D is like in a circumstance like that. Anyone got any stories similar?
>>54505746
I have a buddy that's spent six years in prison. He said that there were three different occasions where he actually had an ongoing campaign. Each time, guards would apparently be okay with the campaign, but weeks or months into it, one of them would have a bad day and come throw all of their shit away.
He said that they played using chits made from strips of paper and used golf pencils. If I remember correctly, he said that they pretty much had 6 hours a day to play as a group, and that's basically all they would do for days on end. He also said that they made a homebrew system because not everyone was allowed access to purchasing or even sharing their own books. He said it felt more like a wargame than an RPG most of the time, because a player would eventually control a faction and another would face him, and they'd draw out the battle on paper.
I wish I could have seen what sort of crazy homebrew shit they came up with.

How are gay people treated in the 41rst millennium?
The Imperium is a big place, so likely in a lot of different ways. Generally, I'd expect them to have significantly more important things to worry about. Although, strangely, you might honestly see the most human on human prejudice on peaceful worlds where the various galactic threats aren't knocking at the door, giving them the leisure to discriminate against proper human beings, rather than heretics, mutants or foul xenos.

Jim Henson's Storyteller series is pretty great, both the old show and the comic miniseries they do now. Loads of inspiration to work from, and a tone that I like to strive for instead of just doing whatever comes to mind.

They're better off sticking him/her in the back of the book and dicking over chaos demons codexes.

Beginner here.
My L(F)GS sells packs of
1x every common card from recent sets (HoD, Amonkhet, Revolt, Zendikar, Moon) for about 1,5 dollars.
If i plan to play pauper, are those good deals so i have a good selection or should i just buy singles and build the decks i want?
It seems nice to buy like 3 of each common in the set for 4,5 bucks and have a wide selection
Not beginner, but wanting to try combo for the first time to see if I like it. Cascade has always been a favorite mechanic of mine, should I roll with Living End or Cascabalance?
>>54500763
that's a great deal, most of the cards aren't great, but it's cheap
