What do you think of the game and the Kathar Sys, /tg/?
What campaigns have you run with it?
>>54632265
I like the setting. Never played the system but I sort of wondered why psychonauts weren't an option. Having a team of super powered dudes teetering on the edge of losing their humanity sounds way cooler than religious fanatics and African stereotypes.
>>54632265
I've played in one campaign. It was a pretty average campaign right until my Scrapper found a disused astronaut suit, and then it picked right the fuck up as my legend began to spread around the wasteland.
>>54632660
They have all the rules for how psychonauts work. If you really wanted to do it, it wouldn't be hard to try and make the attempt to play one.
>>54632701
This. The GM uses a basic character template for psychonaut foes (and most others), but gives a set of abilities that the PCs don't have access to.
Hey Tg, is it better to smite evil or try to redeem It? Nothing morally gray just wondering which one was more good!
>>54632071
Redeem it.
Christ forgives all anon. Which also means redemption may be found on the lap of Abraham. So, kill your enemy if you have to, but be sure to always give them hope and an opportunity to do good.
>>54632071
Redemption is always better, but sometimes it isn't possible, or the risks outweigh the benefits. It's often not an easy call, whether to take the risk for the greater good or stick to the reliable end for the safety of others.
>>54632071
Redeeming is a luxury. In a world with objective morality with an active good vs evil fight going on, smiting nets you one fewer evil, while redeeming can net you both one fewer evil and one more good. Redeeming, however, is both risky and time-consuming due to the potential for failure.
Is pic related any fun? I mean, ignoring the setting and minis which are both painfully generic, is the actual gameplay any fun? Does it offer something that would make me want to play it over another fantasy wargame? Or is it just FFG trying to cash in on WHFB getting squatted?
>>54632060
Man, all I want is that Golem and those skelemen.
No idea about the game itself, sorry anon. Just thought I'd be unhelpful.
>>54632159
I agree the skellies are great, but the Golem's a bit too Blizzard for my tastes.
>>54632060
>painfully generic
I actually like the cartoonish style here.
Have you ever gotten "meta" at the table /tg/?
I was thinking of having my players find a skull belonging to a dead god. The dead god would be me. Inside the skull would be the origins of the world they inhabit.
I was also thinking of having them find the 5th Ed players handbook at some point. They wouldn't KNOW it was the phb at first, I'd describe a book with a giant on the cover, and a strange text they can't read.
Is this a terrible idea?
>>54631983
>Is this a terrible idea?
Probably. Do it anyway.
>>54631983
Can you give more details on the god skull?
Im curious
>>54631983
Fine for a "fun" game, with whacky situations.
For a serious game, it would instantly break all my immersion.
Working on a low fantasy homebrew skill system. The players spend xp like currency (like in Only War), so i’m looking for something a bit better than “add a point”. My current build uses an evolving dice system (d4-d12 (sometimes d2)), so i thought what if start at a d4 and increase the dice for each rank (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12).
Each rank would increase the avg and max of the skill while also decreasing the chance for a natural 1 (which i’m treating as failures).
So an unranked skill will have a 25% (d4) of a natural failure which will go down to 8.5% at rank 4 (d12)
My hope is that this will make the skills more appealing to buy.
Thoughts?
>>54631758
Natural 1's being an unavoidable auto fail isn't fun, and that the lowest chance of it happening is close to 10%, regardless of how well trained you are, is frankly ludicrous.
>>54631785
I'm working with mechanics not setting.
>>54631790
The idea is that the players aren't god who never fucks up.
8.33% vs the regular 5% doesn't seem too bad
pitch a campaign based on this image

Everyone is a bard. Do you have what it takes to be the next [insert kingdom name here] idol?
Chaotic Evil Bard roams the land playing magic music that causes people to turn mindlessly violent
The party has to follow him around and heckle at his every performance
A man has a dream to go to every show and call the person a fag.
My home-made MSPaint map for my campaign is almost done, /tg/. Do you ever make your own world maps?
>>54631317
That's a horrifyingly legible map
What the hell
>>54631491
As in hard to read or easy to read for MS Paint?
>>54631491
9000 hours in MSPaint was never meant as a joke, anon.
Any of you think that the Dark Eldar are sectretly ashamed of what they are doing. Like a once proud race have turned into what are essentially rich frat kids throwing an endless party. They are barely relevant in the lore and are pretty much permanently stuck in Commorragh. They dont have the numbers or gear to do anything more than just be glorified space pirates. That the webway is pretty much the only reason why they are still around at all. That if Commorragh was ever hit with a full scale attack that they would be wiped out within just a few days...
I really do think that they are actually very ashamed of what they have become. And I almost feel sorry for them
>>54631308
There probably are Dark Eldar who feel ashamed but they drown it out in copious amounts of drugs and deafening sounds of ecstasy.
>>54631308
I didn't know the Tau were still this naive or that they had access to the internet.
The ones that didn't like it joined the Ynnari for a chance at redemption.
The ones that are left are the Eldar gangbangers who are perfectly fine with being glorified space pirates, and Haemonculi covens who prefer things this way.
What are some good models that I should buy if I just like painting/owning cool models?
Not playing games with them
>pic unrelated
>>54631042
Depends on what you like.
Scale tanks? planes? sci-fi? horror? fantasy? pin-up?
You're gonna have to give us more to go on.
Either way, I'd probably ask /toy/ instead.
>>54631081
I like the warhammer stuff especially the more modest 40k stuff.
war game stuff is just cool.
Any really standup models?
Also /toy/ is a board? What the heck consitutes a toy? I really like using the models I have for my rpgs if that's any consolation
vvv.ragingheroes.com/
Raging heroes has some good models in various styles, a lot of them are 40k or fantasy counts as but there are a fair few fun ones.
Do you have any interesting dungeon maps?
>>54630789
That map is fuckin evil yo
>>54630842
I agree. Got any more?
>>54630789
>just a regular 3D cube
We need to go deeper.
Pathfinder General /pfg/
Casting Couch Edition: How far have you gone to prepare a character for a campaign?

Old Thread: >>54620096
We were on page 6, cocksucker.
>>54630721
I don't generally apply to a campaign unless I can build up a lot of passion for it. To the point of making a strong backstory, a fully-formed character, an appearance that can inform or display their personality, a bunch of extraneous detail in case it ever comes up, and a build to make it all work.Oh, and an F-list.
>>54630721
Skulls GM is a slut.
>All children are magic-users, and are capable of seeing the evil pervading all of reality.
In this world, the natural reaction of a parent hearing their kid cry about monsters in the closet is to put them to bed, assure them it will be ok, then quickly leave the house
>The type of magic user a child becomes is loosely connected to the zodiac star sign they are born under.
>the government is mostly controlled by monsters and their slaves
Lets play a little game.
I'll name something, you give it a description, then name something that has an association with it.
As in "Hellblade" leads to "Devils Eye" since the devil resides in hell.
Let's start:
Leviathan Guard
As the name implies, the Leviathan Guard is nothing short of enormous. Towering metal giants guarding the seaside city of Leviathan, as ancient as they are powerful.
>The Iron Organ
>>54630393
The Iron Organ is the only thing capable of rousing the Leviathan Guard from their slumber. An enormous artifact, located in a temple overlooking the shore of Leviathan, its music awakens the metal giants and gives them purpose. It's only been played in the face of great threats. But, if seized by the wrong hands, it could be used as a tool of great power and even greater destruction.
>The Song of Dawn
>>54630675
The Song of Dawn is the standard series of musical notes that need to be played in order for the Leviathan Guard to awaken. It is the first song taught to apprentice organ players once they have proved their loyalty to Leviathan. Since the Iron Organ and the Leviathan Guard are so dangerous if misused, this song only awakens the golems so they can perform basic actions. Patrolling the city and attacking any obvious large scale threats. More complex songs are taught once the apprentice can be fully trusted.

Hydrogen-Based Life
(Frozen worlds below -250° F or Gas Giants)
live on land ( desert)
Trappers
They often have an advantage connected
to their trap mechanism, like
Binding or Tunneling, and frequently
have a fast-acting Innate Attack or
Affliction to subdue victims (on Earth
this is usually poison, but aliens might
use electric shocks, acid, or psionics).
They may have racial skill in
Camouflage, or some form of
Chameleon ability.
Slithering
No Legs (Slithering) disadvantage.
On low-friction surfaces like water,
ice, or loose sand, creatures can slide
along. This is especially useful if one
can get help from gravity and thereby
achieve high speeds without expending
any energy. This would be Terrain
Adaptation (by terrain), or a 1-point
perk (built-in skates), which would
then require a racial skill level in
Skating or Skiing. Sliding can be combined
with sailing (below), and probably
requires walking or some other
form of locomotion as a backup.

Is it possible to have a low-tech empire (17th century europe) which has the size of picture? Is supposed to be very decentralized like the HRE.
>>54628545
Only if you are George R.R. Martin.
But seriously, its possible. Look to China or the Mogolian Golden Age, but decentralization is unlikely. Vast territory may have decentralized power locally, but always relied on a strong central core area of authority.
>>54628545
That's not much bigger than the Spanish Empire would have been during the same period, I'm going to say yes.
>>54628545
Ottomans had pretty large empire in this period. As long as it have competent administrative caste it's fine
