Their pods are detected while still in space and promptly get shot out of the sky after it becomes clear that the "maybe alien bombs" are set to fall on a major city.

If they do not get shot out of the sky the marines are quarantined and destroyed by the military while the municipality authority evacuates the landing zones.

So the initial release was a bit of a clusterfucker but things seem to be smoothing out, how are you lads finding the game? Got things you love, mechanics you hate?
For a dungeon crawling beat-em-up I've not gotten bored yet which is nice. If even the base game is providing this much longevity then I have high hopes for the long-term activity of the game.

Some madman also put it all on Tabletop Simulator too, it's missimg a few models but runs great.

Why is it necessary to have GENETICALLY MODIFIED genetically modified SUPER super soldiers?

This makes normal Space Marines seem pretty stupid when they're supposed to be the height of combat prowess in the 40k universe.

GW just wants to sell more toys, and the Design Studio has been gutted of talent and any autonomy over recent years.

Part of why AoS became a thing, they don't care about the fluff any more. It's purely aimed at selling plastic kits to the kind of people that still buy plastic kits off GW.

All for a bit of profit and power-level wankery they're going to shit all over a 40k Universe that isn't a perfect work, but is 30 years of love and dedication.

Questions that don't deserve their own thread.

I want to run a campaign where the PCs start on a spacecraft sent to colonize a new planet. PCs will face challenges due to the disrepair of the vessel, the tragedy of loss upon arriving on the new world (not everyone makes it), surviving on a harsh new planet (hunger, thirst, dangerous wildlife), as well as facing colonists who landed in different areas and formed their own tribes to compete for meager resources.

What system should I use? Am I going to have to home brew something?

Also I'm open to suggestions for specific things (planet environment, NPCs, weapons, lore). I have the big idea, I'm fleshing out the details now.

Fragged Empire has a lot of what you're looking for, along with a lot of customisation options for gear and weaponry. It's not setting agnostic though, so that might be a problem.

Well, d20 Future covers all of those things if you want to run that.

Another QTDDTOT: I'm getting railroaded pretty hard by my GM. We're playing nWoD as humans. Both sessions have followed the same pattern so far. First, we're stuck somewhere. We began in a prison, and are now in hiding out in the country. Second, there's always a reason to disarm us. Our first combat took place in the prison shower room ffs. It doesn't help that only one person has brawl points. And finally, everyone's broke. Nobody can use their resources since we don't have any of our stuff. The only vehicle belongs to the guy that broke us out of prison.

To sum it up
>Known felons
>No money
>Learned that vampires exist like a day ago
> No knowledge of other supernatural beings
>Guy that saved us keeps making us give the weapons back, just before a vampire shows up

If one guy can't make it we just play anyway and NPC their character. One player volunteers to play them and does his best to roleplay them based on how they usually act. Usually everyone can agree on what the character would do in most situations.

Its only if 2 guys can't make it that you start looking at doing something else.

This is pretty firmly "Depends on the setting"/"Ask your GM" territory, my man. There aren't explicit rules for that as fixtures of the system in itself.

The only god statted out is Tiamat, at CR 30, which is the peak of what 5e's CR system allots for. She is a tough cookie but high-level characters could bring her down with some effort. However, if she dies, she just goes back to Baator, so she's basically unkillable.

For other gods for 5e I bet they'll stat them out in the CR 20-30 range but with a caveat that they can't be killed in any permanent sense.

How do you deal with failures on knowledge tests?

Does it mean the pc doesn’t know anything about the subject or that he/she can’t recall said knowledge?

When do you allow the pc to roll again for said knowledge? Or do you lock away any future rolls?
