What are the most important differences between this and other superhero RPGs?

Mostly that it's built specifically for its setting, by that setting's original author, with the intent of creating a system that emulates that setting's themes (to varying degrees of success).

I haven't played it yet, but I was hoping someone on /tg/ might have, and could give their opinion on it. I kinda want to run a campaign but I'm not quite sure if I shouldn't just run some other system.

Classes are stereotypes/clichés. The dwarven fighter is a different thing than a human fighter. An elf being good at both fighting and magic but slow to progress fits their characterization. Basic also added more racial classes like the dwarven cleric that had rune magic.

As >>54666330 said, with the addition that there ARE dwarf "thieves" and elf "clerics", but they don't adventure so can't be used by players.

The merit is that it lets you make the races feel very different. If Elf is the only warrior/mage class in the game, then being an elf will feel special.
Of course, it does also torpedo other options.

I've created a world that is really clichéd and I'm enjoying it. Everyone always complains about fantasy tropes, but it seems most people haven't ever actually played a completely "vanilla" campaign.

Being present as an impartial witness for trade agreements while secretly being courted to favor one side of the agreements over the other

Player gets wind of a good becoming scarce and knows he can make a killing if the group can find some.

Player recieves a calling to invest in a small business and drive a competitor out of business.

Player knows that the frontier needs supplies and that the players should journey out into the wilds and,brave the dangers to bring it to them.

What if your enemies had to make a WIS saving throw (becoming immune to this effect for 24 hours on a success) to hit you instead of their ally if you're within 5ft of their ally? Shapechanging to look just like their friend and confusing them in the process. Like one of those Hollywood "shoot him, I'M the real one!" Moments.

Would look like:
>Your ability to shapeshift in combat lets you take on the surface traits of your enemies in heated melee. Whenever an enemy attacks you for the first time each turn and you are raging, if you are within 5ft of another medium humanoid the attacker must make a [DC 8+Prof+Your Charisma] saving throw. On a failure, the attacker accidentally attacks the wrong target. On a success, the attacker becomes immune to this effect for 24 hours.

Also

>In addition, your duplicitous nature allows you to easily lie without breaking a sweat. You gain proficiency in the deception skill, and if you are already proficient, double your proficiency bonus for any check you make using the deception skill.

Gives the Barbarian an out of combat usefulness, (lying, as is in a skinwalker's nature), and in-combat their class identity becomes causing mass confusion in the enemy's line.
