>tfw your DM forbids you from playing an archer because people use bows to hunt and kill deer.
You knew this would happen when you joined a campaign with a deer DM.
>>55389552
It's my own damn fault for playing D&D on state game lands.
>>55389534
People have used bows to kill animals and other humans for thousands of years. What's the issue here?
I want to do a campaign centered around humanity's invasion of an alien planet, but not a military game. More politics, agents and possibly guerilla. Rec me a system

Stars Without Number, it can do the military stuff but also politics, trading, espionage, etc.
I have a low magic pirate/fantasy themed world, and one of my players would like to create a character who'd be able to tinker and invent things like upgrades for guns or ships or whatever. I really like the idea and would like to implement it, but I'm having difficulty finding how to handle such a skill.
The SW manual mentions that suchs things wouldnt be weird science but rather "just 'high tech'" yet I cannot find other mentions to it. The closest I see is the McGyver edge, but I'm hoping someone knows of perhaps an online guide or something that would assist me in creating something which more closely resembles an inventor.
Any ideas/resources would be greatly appreciated

and they succeeded in doing so by becoming undead. doesn't matter what type, one could be a lich, another could be a vampire. what do they do now? what stories can be built with this premise? do they become indifferent and lose their friendship because they are undead?
>>55388252
It could easily evolve into an symbiotic friendship.
Vampires need blood to survive, and tends to be charismatic and charming - Exactly what is need to rule over a bunch of mortals as a cruel overlord. However, Vampires are often less focused on raw power, so they rarely have standing armies.
Liches need souls to sustain themselves, and the stereotypical way for them to get these are to go on unholy crusades, capturing civilians and consuming them. Liches are, thus, very good at warmongering - A Lich without untold hordes of undead at it's disposal might as well just be a Wizard. This often has the consequence of attracting pesky murderhobo adventurers, which, as we all know, can easily put a dent in the most creative Undead's plan.
Having the Vampire sustain a human population for blood and soul-generation, and having the Lich constructing a terrifying undead army to deter invaders - Well, it'd say they compliment each other rather well.
>>55388492
That sounds like a theocracy waiting to happen. The vampire lord feeds on the living as they pray to serve in the lich's legion of the dead as their afterlife.
>>55388516
That is definitely an interesting prospect.
This leads to potential conflict as well; if enough mortals can be convinced of an Undeads divinity, will it be enough to ascend to godhood?
What is the Lich is building up a secret ritual to capture all the souls of the mortals in the area, sweeping through and ascending him?
The Vampire realizes this, and have to stop the Lich from slaughtering his only source of food. He has no alternative than to ask adventurers for help, suddenly needing to protect a 'few' meagre peasants while formulating a strategy that will allow the Lich to be defeated.
Maybe the adventurers need to seek help from other locations?

When two countries fight and one of them loses, what are some common terms the winner can force upon the loser?
>>55386690
Tribute paid to the winners. (War crime reparations, imbalanced trade concessions, foreign aid to rebuild destroyed cities, et cetera.)
Limits on loser's military strength. (Can run from some allowed ala-post WW1 Germany, to none allowed ala-post ww2 Japan.)
Territorial concessions. (Everything from forced recognition of pre-war borders claimed by winning country ala-The Falklands War, to massive concession of previously held territory to the winner ala-The Mexican-American War)
>>55388677
Thanks.
Passing of domestic laws in loser territory. Outlawing certain religions is a common one.
Installation of foreign politicians into loser's government.
Ransom/release of prisoners on both sides. Countries frequently barter for trade of captives during war, and it's much easier during peace.
Establish territory for the winner inside the loser's bounds. Embassies or DMZ.
Altering the court systems to rely on judges favorable to the winner's policies.

There's a thing where once you post a specific file on a blue board it's listed as a posting error if you try to post the same file again. I think it's to try to minimise spam, hence what that other anon said. Also,

Good day and welcome to /tg/, the board where everything's made up and the experience points don't matter, sort of like my feelings when I'm high on smack all day.
Today we'll be playing a game called Scenes from a Hat: /tg/ Edition! We carefully collected suggestions from fellow elegan/tg/entlemen and randomized them in this hat. I'll select the scene suggestions at random and we'll see what kind of responses we get!

Honestly at least a character that acknowledges it as their canon would provide a vaguely more verisimilitude.

because only males have access to higher education while women are sidelined and denied promotions

Hi, my name is Van, I'm a dungeon master, and I'd like to know if you're interested in joining my dark fantasy campaign I've been working on with Billy (he's the boy next door). It's about a party of adventurer in bondage to the local lord who go exploring deep dark dungeons and reach new places together. I've already run some pretty intense sessions and I have some experience as an actor (you know small roles in movies) so i''m confident in my abilities to create a very fulfilling experience that's very emotional but also more psychological too.

>>55384095
I'm in.
I know this is probably asked a lot, but how does one get into D&D with no prior experience and no one irl to play with? I've always wanted to but I have a lack of friends and knowledge about how the game is played.
Go to the nearest hobby shop that sells tabletop gaming supplies, and see what organized play they have available. Chances are they'll have some sort of weekly play for a game like Pathfinder or D&D. If not, see if they have postings from other customers at the store who are looking for groups to game with.
If the store has organized play, find the SRD for the game they play online to familiarize yourself with the basic rules, then look up the special rules for making a character under that game's organized play. Make your character and show up at the store on the night they host their adventure league. If you found a Looking for Group posting from another customer, get in contact with them and figure out if they want to meet you to make your character or if they want you to find the rules online. Either way, show up to the store on the specified date and start playing.
From there, make friends around the shop and get into someone's home game if you enjoy what you experience.
>>55383856
The nearest hobby shop is an hour and a half away is the problem
>>55383797
why would you ever want to inflict that to yourself?
anyway the friends i have that play D&D do so online finding campaigns on roll20 or in specialized RPG play by forum websites that host D&D campaigns as if the entire forum was one big persistent MMORPG world.
