I usually try to grab more fluffy weaponry, a character of mine who lived in France mostly uses FN firearms (Since there aren't any specifically french guns mentioned in the books), with another favoring the weapon type and configuration they were issued during their time with a SWAT team.

My sammy's the most weapon-heavy guy in the group, doubly so because his civilian identity's fake job is in private security. He has two different sets of weapons: one that's for non-criminal activity and one for criminal activity. He's an all-range type, keeping just a couple pistols (a Savalette Guardian and a Colt Government 2066), a taser, an assault rifle (the FN HAR), a shotgun, and a knife. His criminal identity uses a similar loadout, with the HAR exchanged for a heavily-modified Ares Alpha, an assault shotgun, a sniper rifle (easily broken down to carry in a false-bottom attache case), a sword, a few grenades, and the blade in his cyberarm. Obviously, he can't use all of those at once, but weapons are just tools used for killing people. You don't bring a socket wrench to do a drill's job just like you don't bring a shotgun when the job requires a marksman's weapon or a sniper rifle when a handgun will do.

How overdone is 18th century combined with very light magic?

More specifically in my world it takes around a day of mediating to release any sort of fireball or anything larger than a person. Steel is limited and bronze and casting is used a lot.

I started DMing my first D&D game last night, it went well for the most part when the more experienced players took the spotlight. But our newer player who's probably borderline retarded, was struggling to do anything, despite our help. I didn't want to say anything because I myself am new to D&D DMing and somewhat new to D&D char playing, but even I wasn't that bad.

He decided to get detained by Guards, essentially a way for us to throw him out for the time being. He ended up leaving the voice chat to do something else, and my other experienced players are currently complaining about him, some tell me they want him out, others think they want to give him another chance.

watdo? How would I tell him to fuck off?

Give him another go. Maybe he just felt weird playing with strangers. One of the games I play in has a guy like this, and all things considered he's a great guy, but god damn is he retarded. Keeps encounters fairly fresh and exciting though.


Give him one or two sessions more. Take a vote. Then if you decide to kick him, just tell him straight up "sorry man, I don't think you are going to be fit for what I want from this campaign


Or just kick from game and server without a word and carry on

It's not so much the style, he's just fucking retarded. I had an entrance and exit to the Town we're in, literally marked "Town Entrance" and "Town Exit". He goes ahead and tries to go to the Town entrance to "go into Town"....despite us already being in the Town.

sup /tg/, I'm working on a setting where the players power will be derived entirely from their equipment and magic items, and I was thinking of just running Strike! and just using the kits as different equipment loadouts while sitting down with the players to let them fluff their kit out a little to better flesh out their character. does this sound like an alright campaign idea, and would there be a better system to do it in?

I dunno if you ever played Blue Dragon, solid game though, but something like that sort of feel. basically, regular power level humans/humanoids who have an extraordinary "companion", or in this case gimmicky armor/weapons/magic items, that let them be adventurers and shit. It'll probably be a pretty lighthearted campaign, more focused on letting the players feel badass

Sounds cool. A pity the monster hunter/equipment guide had not came out for the game yet, I bet you could make good use of that stuff.

If your players are on board, I think Strike! is a great game for simple/fun adventuring with some nice fights. Needs some extra work on the player/GM side to make sure everything makes some sort of sense internally (the curse of the mallable fluff/self defined skill lists/tricks), but as long as you are willing to do that, it's smooth sailing from there.

I am playing DnD in a custom campaign. Class: Wizard- Necromancer.
In order to become a Deity, you have to find your true name, not the one you have been given, but the one that describes your true self.
In order to learn it, you have to make a special procedure.
Recommend me some ways to do that. I have run out of ideas. Perhaps a ritual, anything really that can help me out/give me some inspiration. (Preferably ways that are not combat-based.)

An idea could be a type of very complicated divination ritual that takes at least a couple of days. It should have some rare bones for you to read, maybe the blood of a fiend or celestial. A dragon heart or something.
I think it depends on what kind of deity you want to become.
If you can tell us that, maybe I can come up with something a little better for you - maybe even a good description of the procedure if you'd like.

So I've been invited to a Savage Worlds game (and it seems so far using basic rules only if I understood correctly) but the GM went away for 2 weeks for holidays and is unreachable. I know shit about the system and rules but for depending on different dice for stats and skills.

Now my questions, using the basic rules, what can I make? how CUHRAZY! can a character be? can you RULES OF NATURE!?

Setting is medieval fantasy. Imagine (not that I'm going to) I want to make Not!Spider-man, is it possible? Or is the system low fantasy with martials swinging sticks more or less ok and casters spending all their PMs to cast a fire arrow?

Starting out characters are going to be your typical sort of pulp character in power, so they'll have a couple of neat tricks but you wont be a god by any stretch of the imagination.

The Not!Spider-man is semi-possible with the superpowers arcane background.

It does, but the levels are more like sidegrades than in D&D. A novice character won't be able to do *everything* a high-level char can, but it can pick one thing and do that pretty well.

Spellcasting is better at support than offense. Combat is based on overcoming thresholds, not chipping down hp, so a spell that boosts your buddy's attack from good to excellent will be more effective than casting another magic missile at the darkness.

Melee combat is heavily influenced by gang up bonuses, so pick a team target and start the rape train.

Now let me explain some things. We're really attached to both the campaign world and all of the characters in it. There's waifus, I am not joking one of our players comissioned some artist to draw art of a fucking npc. We spent six months building and defending a village. We knew all of their names intimately.

After looking at the feats, Envoy is easily salvagable.

Operatives are just sneakier Soldiers and contribute nothing to the party except damage and skills, but everyone brings skills to the party. So you may as well play a Soldier and be more effective at doing damage since stealth is entirely pointless in a tech-filled environment..

Now, as you're all likely aware. Our recent battles have nearly depleted our regiment of manpower. Over 77% of our men are dead, and half of what's left, are badly wounded; myself included.

How the fuck did they know Aragorn is king? Asking since I have a similar problem in my D&D game. PC who has noble blood just arrived to another kingdom and got a meeting with a high-ranking bureaucrat who may admit him to the king. PC had a good horse, nice armour but not much else to his name. How could he prove he is part of famous noble line from another kingdom?

Look at real life. There are many examples of kings who became kings simply because they had the banter and the balls to declare themselves true descendants of whatever other king, centuries ago.

It's how it worked in the middle age, before the advent of true record keeping. That guy shows up and declare himself the true descendant of XXX. Do the local nobles have a vested interest in recognizing his claims? Is the actual king really unpopular? Does the pretender have a big army or numerous wealth of fortune to make for it? Then he has a good chance to accede to the throne.
