Gibus, I just want you to know you ruined this thread. In fact, your reaction to others using your name to the point that you started tripcoding was the model I used for Wayne's reaction when others did the same.

You helped contribute to what became Wayne.

Would AdMech care if it has A.I? Surely they would try to reverse engineer it? O rtry to improve upon it in some way?

Hell might go as far as to try to induct it into the ranks of Tech Priests I could see that happening on the down low.

>if we assume that the most popular TRPG is Pathfinder, a full set of "core" rulebooks consisting of the OGL and GMG is about $17 for PDFs
>each system maintains an ongoing schedule of releasing additional content in the form of supplemental books

I can't get over how expensive this hobby seems sometimes. Seems like every system out there has extra books, supplements, bells and whistles and subscription programs. It's almost overwhelming. Even if you don't care about the price, keeping track of the content of these things has got to be exhausting. These aren't small books, after all! Maybe I'm just a cheap bastard, but Christ, does nobody ever just print a proper, self-contained system in one book and go "Yup, OK, looks good, let's try making another one that has nothing to do with this one"?

Out of all the hobbies discussed on /tg/ you decided to choose one of the least expensive.

Good job.

As a GM, what can I do to accommodate for players with murderhobo tendencies and generally do destructive shot for no reason? I want to try to adapt the game to their playstyle, but I'm not sure how to.

What are some tips/methods to adapt to murderhobos?

Megadungeons. It honestly makes it so fucking easy for a DM too
>no intrigue
>smaller amount of role play, meaning less dynamic NPCs (by number, not in general)
>the game becomes Cowboy from Full Metal Jacket: "there's the enemy, kill em" so you don't need shit tons of locale
It'll get old eventually, but enjoy it while it lasts
>>
That's probably the easiest kind of player to accommodate. If they look or seem bored, throw a fight at them. A bandit raid, a dragon attack, a bar fight, whatever.
I don't see why you'd want to cater to this type of player, because it will turn your game into nothing but a slog of combat scenarios with some light flavor text in between as you try not to go more than four sentences without losing the murderhobo's attention.

/tg/, I need to make an assassins' guild for a bronze age(ish) fantasy setting with a lot of heavy religious themes and demon-worshipping cultists/witches. Any tips/guidelines?

Do you guys prefer religious (a la Faceless Men/Hashashin/Dark Brotherhood) or non-religious assassins guilds?

Also, relevant art would be appreciated.

Given what you've told us about the setting, a cult dedicated to a god of death makes sense. Offering the souls of the slain to their dark master, seeking visions of the future in the bloodstains, etc.
>>
>>54732951
well my concern is that I dont necessarily want the players to have to convert to join the assassin's guild. maybe i should have multiple rival guilds?
>>
Why not go for a more gang like aesthetic if you want rival theives guilds? It doesn't have to be very obvious looking guild members they could just look like gruff commoners with a different color of paint.

Lets say that for one reason or another dinosaurs were around during the height of the Roman empire and were just always around.
How does this affect things? Would there be a Greek/Roman god of dinosaurs and how would these gigantic creatures affect their mythologies? How would Romans hunt something like a T-Rex if they felt they wanted to hunt one? Pic mostly related.

>>
>>54732524
> 'A' Greek/Roman god of dinosaurs
The entire pantheon, yes.
>>
>>54732524
The biggest thing I think would be altered is that mythological monsters would be a lot more fantastical, and any animals used as symbols of strength or something else particular might be reflected by a dinosaur instead.

Other than that, the presence of large, dangerous wildlife would make things more difficult, but it also depends a lot on climate and how far ranging they are. The way to hunt a dinosaur would probably involve large spears designed to be braced against the ground and stopping the thing from pushing its way down it. Essentially, you need pretty solid bronze tridents.

Compared to say, an Elephant, it isn't that huge of a step up for many dinosaurs. You'd probably see more development towards siege weapons, poisons, and other methods to take them out safely from a distance.

I haven't played Standard since Origins came out. Is it good? I've heard it's been a total garbage fire recently.
>>
>>54733383
It was a garbage fire.
The new set shook up the dumpster and ignited a blaze of RDW decks.
But the jury is still out on how the meta will settle.
>>
>>54733383
RDW is stomping standard right now.
A friend and I won several FNMs before the pro tour with Monored Desert. Even if Wizards have the stupid idea of banning one of the pieces, the prizes were worth the cost of the deck (some cards has now skyrocketed).

Post system ideas, can be RPG, board game, anything /tg/ really. Here's one for a strategy board game I wrote some rules for a while back, though I lost most of them so I can only give a summary

>Setting: 16th century Asia
>Working Title: Wokou
>For those who don't know the Wokou were Japanese pirates who raided the coasts of China, Korea and Japan from the 14th to 16th centuries
>Each player is a different pirate lord among the Wokou
>On their turn a player raids various trade routes stretching from Hokkaido to Ceylon
>I also had mechanics for tech research but I forgot how it works
>Players move their fleets around and try to out compete their rivals

If I ever finished the game I'd like to include the ability to play as China or Korea, and have changes in the situation in warring states Japan as time progresses to add some asymmetry.

>A tabletop wargame (40K, Bolt-action, etc.)
>The whole idea is to make the wargame more realistic by simulating the unreliability of communication and command chain.
>Setting: originally WW2, but can be anything really.
>6-10 players
>2 teams
>each team has following: 1 commander, 1 messanger and 1-3 officers.
>Messanger never makes any decisions himself
>Officers cannot talk to each other, nor the commander.
>At the begining of the game, messanger draws a map of the battlefield. No photos allowed.
>Commander never sees a battlefield.
>Commander can only look at the hand-drawn map of the battlefield.
>Then, he selects the deployment zones for the officers and their troops. He also devides the army into battlegroups.
>Then, sends out initial orders to the officers.
>Officers deploy their groups within their deployments and try to follow their orders, received from the commander.
>Officers can only move/command their group, and do not affect the other officer's units.
>Then, actual game starts.

cont.
>>
>>54734332

>Officers can only move the units and execute all the combat actions, dice throws, etc.
>At the end of their turn, they relay the report to the commander.
>They MUST specify the mean via which they send it.
>They write down the report on the piece of paper and give it to messanger, who then gives it to caoomander (or not)
>Messanger, then makes a throw which affects the messages (both to and from commander.)
>Depending on the mean of communication (Radio, landline, courier) They have different chance of getting reaching their destination.
>Each method has their own advantages/disadvantages/specials
>I:E:
>radio can be easily jammed or the signal can be weak, but it can be repaired or boosted.
>The message can also be interrupted, which means that messanger must tear the piece of paper he carries the order on, and give only one half to the commander.
>Landline is fine, but it can be cut and takes long time to repair.
>Courier takes up to three turns to deliver the message and can be killed, preventing the message from being delivered.
>Flare is always visable, but troops that fire it get revealed and there is only certian meaning a flare can have.
>If there are no orders, the officer can only hold position and return fire, but cannot move his troops.
>He can however, use a "Initiative token", which allows him to perform an action or series of actions that do not follow the commanders orders.

>Other than all that, it plays like normal tabletop wargame.

Any idea why this would fail horribly or why it might actually work?
>>
I've been working on 2 different wargame rulesets.

First is a skirmish game set in an apocalyptic earth after demons invade. Core mechanics are action point based alternating activation and opposed dice rolls which inflict multiple hits depending on the difference of the rolls. The forces are power armored Templars, demons, cultists and warlords taking advantage of the chaos, and radicals using the demons power against them

Second one is a platoon fantasy game set in an ancient/classical era themed setting. The focus is small groups of 4-8 models that can combine attacks to take on bigger targets. Resolution is an opposed roll dice pool mechanic.
