My last Numenera had a character who was a a Vengeful Jack who hunts with great skill. His weapon of choice was a katana with the cutting edge on the inside of the blade.

He punched an NPC for being too cowardice to stop a great evil he knew about from killing a whole village. Later when I brought up someone who knew something about his vengeance he almost killed them. He didn't because I brought a kid into the equation and that stumped his player for like, 10 minutes.

I was running a game set in an apocalyptic world, the characters were from a village built around a radio tower. Winter was coming and the village was getting sick, so the characters were sent to look for medicine in a hospital in the city nearby. They headed there, crossed a broken bridge, fought some demon wolves, then ran into some bandits. This escalated to them fighting the rest of the bandits, who had taken over the hospital they needed the medicine from. One character got permanent injuries from that fight, so he made a new character, and had that one start out captured. The characters rescued him, and he immediately sought out the leader, a woman in her 20s whose parents had been the original leaders of the bandit group, and beat her unconscious. Then, he got a scalpel (since he was in a hospital) and severed her spine. I told him to roll Healing, wondering WTF his problem was. He rolled the equivalent of a 35 heal check in D&D. So yeah he crippled her from the legs down. They cleared out the hospital and kept her with them in a wheelchair. They were going to dump her in the river at one point, but the player who did it actually ended up handing her a written note later saying he was sorry for what he did to her.

How do mono-white vampires work from a color philosophy standpoint? They're kind of selfish by default. If they occured naturally I could see them as Green, maybe even Blue if they sucked out mental energy or knowledge or something, but White just seems so heavily against their inherently parasitic biology

Actual Interest! Edition

Epic is an old specialist game from GW that was discontinued a few years ago, since then the community has taken over. Recently there have been rumors of FW releasing new Adeptus Titanicus rules soonish, and depending on if it succeeds(which likely it will) they plan to expand into classic Epic.

>Where do I get the rules?
http://www.tp.net-armageddon.org/
It's based off of the Epic Armageddon rule set, otherwise known as Epic 4th Ed, with some minor changes and new army lists. You can also find 30k rules here.
>Where do I get those fan made minis that show up everywhere?
You post your email in Epic threads and hope that one of the recasters contact you, or post on Tactical Command (http://www.tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/index.php) and hope you can find someone after you build up trust there.
>Where else can I get miniatures?
There is a lot of old epic stuff on Ebay and some manufacturers produce good proxies, like http://vanguardminiatures.co.uk/. Tacticalwargames.net, and other forums or facebook groups also do lots of trading in second hand epic minis.
>What's the game like?
Players alternate using parts of their armies called formations rather than moving and fighting with their entire force. Morale and fatigue is represented by giving “Blast Markers” to a formation when something bad happens to it, which gradually makes it less effective and stops more and more units in the formation from acting until they rally. The scale makes units with longer range weapons or high movement speed stand out more, makes maneuvering more important and allows for the use of many units that are super heavy or above in Warhammer 40 000, such as Baneblades, fliers, knights or titans without warping the game too much. The new 30k stuff is also great, and they are rapidly developing more rules for the legions as the actual FW Redbooks release.

The setting is deliberately convoluted and inconsistent, and this is even acknowledge in-world indirectly by a few characters. It's a good vehicle for the light-hearted, imperfect porn vibe they got going, but only goes to show that not all fantasy is a good tabletop setting.

Mortarion disappoints me. I don't collect CSM, but I want all the primarchs to be cool releases. Magnus did a god job of impressing.
Mortarion is just fucking small and looks like a generic death guard character. He's only 1.5 x the size of a normal Death Guard marine, which I know are bigger than regular marines and almost primaris size, but not greatly impressive. Just seems this guy is about the size of a Lord of Contagion, just elevated off the ground.

The only thing remotely daemonic is the wings, which is something a normal Chaos Lord could take up until 6th edition. I do like the insectoid style it does work, however older art when he had the grim reaper theme going had with with angelic wings to give that stark contrast which was pretty cool.
I expected a tall, bloated monstrosity.
I know in the lore, not all daemon princes grow into huge hulking figures... but come on, this is a daemon primarch. We haven't had a little daemon prince model in 40k since Doomrider.
I'd happily let someone proxy a larger more imposing model / conversion. This is just a large guy in power armor, not even very mutated at all.The only thing that says he;s mortarion is his gas-mask and scythe.

I've used the DG model that seems to be placed most in line with him for scale. The Lord of contagion seems to be further behind Mortarion so isn't a good example for scale since he's smaller in the background.
>>
>>54815575
You realise he is a way behind the comparison model in that pic right?
>>
>>54815575
i can kinda understand your gripe about morty not being much mutated but its him.

Mortarions deal is that he doesnt like chaos all that much, he wasnt willing in all that heresy stuff but kinda just rolled with it and he probably denies most of the gifts, papa nurgle offers him.

So did Magnus and Tzeentch hi-jack Abaddons Crimson Path in Wrath of Magnus?

>The attack on the Fenris Sector had been more than just simple revenge. Within sight of Prospero’s surface, the empty void shuddered as if in great pain. Heralded by the death screams of Midgardia’s population, the planet of the Crimson King burst into being. The damage its violent transition did to the barrier between realspace and the Warp was irrevocable. A tide of madness and blood began to ripple out across the galaxy, spreading like cracks in a pane of glass and signalling a thousand dooms to come.
>The Imperium would never be the same.

Getting back into 40k and after reading the about the Crimson Path in the Chaos dex it was clearly meant to head to Terra. Yet Magnus just before the 13th Black Crusade does this and it misses and creates the Cicatrix Maledictum instead. Did Abaddon miss? Or was it Tzeentch and Magnus fucking with him?

>>54814761
Oh god how can people get this so bad? Magnus just caused a permanent wound in space by translocating his world. The Great Rift was spawned when Abaddon destroyed the Cadian Pylons.

>"Upon Cadia, Abaddon brought low the mysterious geometric pylons that dotted the wind-swept outlands, and in doing so weakened the barrier between worlds, for these ancient megaliths were fashioned to keep the stuff of Chaos from the material dimension. This same act his agents repeated on every world that harboured such structures. Without these lynchpins to hold the material dimension sacrosanct, warp storms tore the galaxy along its length"

Apparently there are more pylons on the Cadia sector worlds which are preventing the Eye from growing towards Terra (picture related).

To add to this, The Fenris thing among many wars and events like Damocles warzone and the fracture of Biel-Tan helped in the growth of the Great Rift and expansion.

Abaddon broke the dam in Cadia and the Chaos water flowed towards areas o great conflict and warp disruption. Unluckily for Abaddon, the pesky Necrons have built more pylons in his planned path. So they got to go.

I think there is a great chance of missing a lot of things and even breaking pieces if playing that way.
>>
I would if I could, OP

Instead the only place I could play Warhammer 40k would likely be at a Games Workshop with a 12 year old who hasn't painted any of the miniatures that his parents bought him and glued his vindicator together desperately and impatiently, leaving globs of dried glue all over the seams of the tank

Additionally, more middle schoolers are running around all over the store and occasionally my opponent will leave for 10-15 minutes, refusing to take his turn

Finally I just pack my things back up and go to the paint table because I want to paint my new Roboute Guilliman. right before one of his friends runs over and knocks over the water cup directly onto the model and myself
>>

Honestly, if you want atmosphere, bring a fog machine with you and plop it in a corner of the table, treat it as hazardous terrain.

Not that I think the "more civilized" elves COULDN'T drink dwarves under the table, I just doubt they would.
