How do I find a die system for my homebrew game that is both simple to use, interesting, and from which the odds of succeeding can be easily eyeballed? Considering 2d6+modifiers atm.
Also homebrew general I guess.

Alright lads, settle down, we're not dead yet.

I know it might be odd for me to be doing this, instead of the Commissar. But unfortunately, I'm best you've got.

Now, thankfully the recently activated Void Shields around this crashed Mechanicus Explorator vessel, is keeping out the Necrons for the moment. But I doubt the generators will hold out for much longer. So in the meantime, I'm open to any and all SERIOUS ideas. And before anyone asks; no, both surrender and retreat are off the table.

Perhaps by having a quick field kit inspection, we can come up with a way to get out of here alive. As such, I am calling for a mandatory inspection. So present arms and equipment, for a Field Kit Inspection!

Epic is an old specialist game from GW that was discontinued a few years ago, since then the community has taken over. Recently there have been rumors of FW releasing new Adeptus Titanicus rules soonish, and depending on if it succeeds(which likely it will) they plan to expand into classic Epic.

It's based off of the Epic Armageddon rule set, otherwise known as Epic 4th Ed, with some minor changes and new army lists. You can also find 30k rules here.

You post your email in Epic threads and hope that one of the recasters contact you, or post on Tactical Command (http://www.tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/index.php) and hope you can find someone after you build up trust there.
>Where else can I get miniatures?
There is a lot of old epic stuff on Ebay and some manufacturers produce good proxies, like http://vanguardminiatures.co.uk/. Tacticalwargames.net, and other forums or facebook groups also do lots of trading in second hand epic minis.
>What's the game like?
Players alternate using parts of their armies called formations rather than moving and fighting with their entire force. Morale and fatigue is represented by giving “Blast Markers” to a formation when something bad happens to it, which gradually makes it less effective and stops more and more units in the formation from acting until they rally. The scale makes units with longer range weapons or high movement speed stand out more, makes maneuvering more important and allows for the use of many units that are super heavy or above in Warhammer 40 000, such as Baneblades, fliers, knights or titans without warping the game too much. The new 30k stuff is also great, and they are rapidly developing more rules for the legions as the actual FW Redbooks release.

You can get a bucket load of miniatures for cheap, like an actual bucket load. They show up in shoeboxes.

Short answer? A long time, it's usually about a year, the earlier you back the earlier they ship, currently they're looking at February 2019

Yes it is, but you're not going to get minis like these for quarters on the dollar any other way.

Yes you heard that right, quarters.

Currently there are 93 miniatures available in the core $100 pledge, which grows as the kickstarter swells in backers.
The first bones ended up around 250 minis for the low price of $100.

First you wash them, get a tooth brush from the dollar store and scrub them using warm soapy water. Rinse the suds off and then they're good to go.

There's a back forth contention in the community for the next step, Reaper advertises that the PVC Bones material does not require priming. Many people prime anyways. Popular primers are Krylon from walmart or any other hardware store. Cheap cheap cheap. Cheap and good.

Next apply your preferred acrylic with your preferred acrylic delivery method, if you need more direction than this, well, there's over a million painting tutorials out there.

Less obvious, however, is that, along that path, his actions have gradually unpicked the veil between realspace and the warp.
During the course of his long years on the threshold of the Eye, Abaddon discovered a strange truth about the barrier between the materium and immaterium. Dotted across the galaxy were ancient structures of black stone, stark and monolithic on the outside but extremely complex within. There were many of these upon the fortress world of Cadia. Known as ‘pylons’ to the planet’s militarised populace, they were so old that none gave them more than a passing thought. It was Abaddon’s belief that these structures were the very things that maintained the stability of the Cadian Gate – something about them kept the energies of the warp from spilling through the Eye of Terror into realspace.
