For that chrome itch I know you all have. All things cyberpunk welcome; talk about the already published RPGs in the genre, get hype about what's coming up, and post that homebrew setting you're writing up. Suggest some movies, literature, interpretive dance, whatever.

It's okay. I personally wouldn't recommend it, but it might suit your tastes.

The thing about roleplaying games is that the only real way to understand them is to play them and see how you personally feel about them, and whether or not they suit your needs or tastes.

Sure, there's a certain cutoff where the quality is so bad that the game shouldn't be recommended to anyone, but any of the flagship D&D products is pretty safe from that cutoff, and how good it is really ends up being a matter of personal experience and opinion.
>>
Certainly a polarizing edition of the DnD, but as a Tactical Skirmish game, I don't think any edition has done a better job of making each class feel unique.

I personally miss the clear roles or Tank, Striker, Leader or Control, but I do completely understand those folks who don't like it, or think its' "Not DnD".

Its quite a departure from the 3.x formula.

Yes, by accident. My group are a bunch of "pirates" who were hired to take some rich asshole to not!eldorado, and map some of the weird islands there on the way. We only realized how much it looks like One Piece when we were already in the thick of things.

What kinds of characters could you use as examples to new players of bad TRPG characters, not because they're not good characters, but because they are so disruptive to group gameplay?

The first two that always come to mind are Wolverine (edgy loner that refuses to play by anyone's rules) and Deadpool (luLr4ndum attention whore).

Sounds like your group needed a Cyclops. A non nonsense serious leader, who may be a stick in the mud but got the skills to make everyone fall in line. You get one of those then the wolverine dynamic will be legendary.
>>
>>54877463
The problem is when someone makes a character that's such a die hard loner that the game must revolve around them just due to the effort put into getting them to go with the group. It's a backhanded way of trying to be the main character.

Depends on the situation.

I would think poison would be a good choice. Alternatively, Slice an Achilles, bring him down, cripple him carefully, then dispatch him.

Alternatively, enlist the aid of a ballista.

Matrix Edition
What do you hope for the possible Matrix book announced for 2018?
340 posts and 42 images submitted.

That's referring to soaking the damage, it is confusing because it uses small numbers (presumably a tank would need to be dealt more than 4 damage to pass through it's armour), but the rule is pretty clear in the vehicle section that it needs to be over the armour pre-soak not post soak. Otherwise, vehicles would either take zero damage or (at least) the damage equal to their armour, would make them either be 100% fine or just kind of explode randomly.
The way it works is:
>Is modified (Base + Ammo + Net hits) DV less than Armour? If so, ignore the damage.
>If it's higher, roll for soak
>Optionally, to speed things up, have the vehicle buy hits instead

Well, my players are pretty much as green as it get's also between 16-18. So my idea is to put them into the Seattle barrens and have them do 3-4 shitty barrens runs for some asshole, since they need money. Low pay, high risk, minimum amount of briefing on the job.
Cue for the nice Ms.Johnson who pays adequately, the jobs are stil high risk but she seems to be very interested in the success of the runs and actually pays.
I inted to have her as their main Johnson (Beeson if you want so) with runs like (and as an Anon in the thread before mentioned) "Some power hungry ares exec wants tu shut down an SINless work programm, stop him", " Hack a goverment server to locate funding towards a community garden.", "Stop the rampart gang violence in that area so people can life in peace for once."

All that and some more runs in the "Our Johnson has a heart of gold" direction.
Maybe put them against an small hornet insect spirit swarm who have taken ofer a group of go-gangers. Only to have rumors of insect spirits spread AFTER they have dealt with them.

And i think Bees (or bumblebees) would make a good kind of antagonist, since the nymphs of them are actually quite intelligent (according to fluff) and less agressive than locus or said hornets. I imagen that they could keep the bigger picture in mind, plan ahead and use non-bugs to do their job.

DS9 and VOY had decent ratings for genre shows, comparable to other fairly big name shows of the time (like the X-Files). It's actually TNG that "started" the death spiral, because the execs were continuing to chase the mainstream appeal that TNG brought to the table.

Those numbers weren't sustainable because TNG came out at a time when there were only a handful of channels, and it was syndicated, so there were a lot of options to watch it.

What killed Trek was TNG. Both the show, which produced the audience numbers chase, and the movies, which were terrible yes, even First Contact.

The last nail in the coffin was the inability to figure out why chasing TNG's numbers wasn't working, and moving Trek to a single shitty network. VOY tried to be TNG's 8th-14th seasons, and even when it good it was only barely so. ENT had two seasons where they didn't really know what they wanted to do with the show, so it was basically TNG with a new coat of paint.
