So I was bored and made a thread again. It's incredible that we are not going to have any news on ANR until GenCon. Besides these spoilers this period seems so deserted.

Anyway, I bought Free Mars this wednesday. What's the opinion on the Criminal cards in the set? I'm thinking of pairing Flashbang with Mongoose and run with it.
The other two events seem NUTS. I love Leave no Trace, particularly with Mammon and how it synergies with Nero.

My boyfriend and I are trying to get back into netrunner, and we think Terminal directive would be a great place to restart. However, the extension isn't available in our country, is there some guide to play it, whether by proxy or on jinteki.net ?

LNT is alright and so is RD, but both aren't exactly general auto-includes compared to the Moose. 'bang and 'goose pales in comparison to that clearly misprinted new killer.

ITT we talk about TCGs, and group card games. Currently, it's mostly Yugioh, but more things are welcome.

Board games and table tops are welcome there too.

Duel Masters, since it is my favorite TCG.

Nothing really.

Has anyone played the Final Fantasy TCG? How is it? I've been thinking of getting into it.

I play currently and I love it a lot. Since you played Naruto, you will like the structure of this game. Well, the battle system.
When you ATK you can form teams but at the end of the damage step, you have to separate the teams at the end of the battle.
Even the way you give points is the same, except you have to turn it over and depending on if it's an EX card or not determines what you do.

How to play a character is super easy too. Each card is worth 2 of its colour. In order to play a character, you have to ditch how ever many it needs.
So if sephoroth says 6, you need 1 of that colour say purple and 5 other of whatever. However, light and dark cards are only worth to each other. So you cannot use them as colourless to anything else.

Which is a bit confusing. But once you play a few rounds, it's really easy. All cards are paid for the same (currently). Lets hope this game stays that way.

In my games, I like to tell my players that they start as a group in-game; so they are all lord retainers, bountyhunters, ninjas, pilgrims, etc, whatever; so they share a goal at least at the start.

They make the character after that, twisting it towards whatever they want.

I've yet to decide their common role this time, I'd love some ideas.

So I'm dm-ing and I was wondering how an actual enemy formation would affect combat. For example, if a bunch of guards get in this formation, how would it affect their AC and if they decide to rotate, would the PC's get an attack of opportunity?
18 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>54910606
There's couple Feats for that in one of the splats.
>>
>>54910606
It's damned rare for splats to cover this but the nuts and bolts are that they give bonuses to the people next to them.

A basic shield wall, for example, gives a defense bonus to the man on your left side. A phalanx gives the second and third lines attacks of opportunity on anyone attack the first rank. A turtle formation (the roman version is called Testudo) gives a big defense bonus to everybody. Almost all formations give bonuses to moral.

When you move a formation, move them all on the same initiative step. Coordinating this many people is difficult so expect an officer to be giving commands.
>>
It's interesting to think about how magic on the battlefield might affect formations. A full testudo might give advantage to save against fireballs (the downside being that you've still got a shitload of men being hit by a single burst,) but against cloud spells and such it seems like a straight-up liability.

Do you have any prejudices against any fantasy races /tg/? Do these show in game?

Personally I'm not a fan of Gnomes.
>Be Gnome
>Be short
>Fucking midgets midget short
>Not cool or tough like a Dwarf
>Not happy or carefree like a Halfling
>Can't go to normal sized people places or get trampled to death
>Can't go hunt or fight cause I got tiny ass legs and can't go far or fast
>Can't talk to people cause they can't hear me from way down here
>Sit at home all depressed all day
>Tinker with random shit because that's all I can do
>Actually make something
>No one gives a shit
>TFW when I'm completely irrelevant compared to other shot stack races and humans can tinker just as much
>TFW Only relevant when I'm standing in a garden

Just not a Gnome guy. What about you?

I think gnomes are great.
I hate all the personality-less block-of-stats races like goliaths or dragonborn. Tieflings are also bad, but mostly due to the players that play them.
>>
>>54910227
I respect your opinion anon, I just can't seem to like Gnome, tried playing on once and just couldn't do it. Talked to the DM to have my character leave so I could roll a new one. I don't mind Goliaths as much as Dragonborn. To me it's either be a full dragon or no dragon not the half dragon stuff. For Tieflings I think are just due to the players mostly, The concept of them is pretty neat.
>>
>>54910200
I don't like aasimars because they imply a celestial being mated with a mortal which seems unlike a celestial being. Also, they're treated as a separate race even though they are mostly human/parent race with only a little angel in their ancestry.

We all know the iconic "Neo-Tolkien" races of D&D - the Dwarf, the Elf, the Gnome, the Half-Elf and the Half-Orc. But D&D has huge history of usual races, spanning from Basic and Advanced through 3rd and into 4th and even 5th.

Let's give those races some love.

Talk about setting where you had races that weren't the Neo-Tolkienian ones, or games where you played them. Discuss your favorite and least favorite odd-ball species and the whys. Hell, even talk about which ones you wish 5e would hurry up and include already - we might even take a stab at converting them, if anons actually do express an interest.
15 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
Personally, I love the vast array of non-standard races that D&D has produced. From embracing humanity's *ahem* "versatility with hybrids like half-dwarves, half-gnomes, half-goblins and half-gnolls to finding plenty of alternative races to build my setting up and make it feel different, there's so many different possibilities.

Lupin Tribal Warriors.png

Lupins: Fun fact is, I came to D&D very late in the game's lifespan. Just the wrong combination of hometown, country, birth-year and being suckered into buying Warhammer Fantasy & 40K codexes instead of D&D books. So, most of what I know was born out of searching for D&D stuff online. Thus, my first exposure to Lupins was in their 3.5 unofficial reboot in Dragon Magazine #325. At the time, I read them and just went "huh, neat", and would have passed them over - I mean, giant wolf-riding Great Plains Amerindian-themed wolf-people is not really that unique. That's, like, one of the more cliche cultures you'd get in most anthro fantasy settings. Except one small sidebar (criminally missing in Dragon Annual) caught my eye. Pictures, evidently taken from old school D&D sourcebooks, introduced me to the kingdom of Renardie, and that caught my attention. Faux-French Swashbuckler-themed wolf-people? Now that is something unique!

Heck, the division between Civilized, Tribal and Nomadic is practically tailormade for 5e's subrace mechanics, although as one who's tried to convert them, I must confess that I struggled with meaningful stats, given their rather lackluster mechanics in previous editions.

Now, I don't know if we can legitimately have Rakasta return, what with Tabaxi already filling the "catfolk" role. But Lupins certainly have a free slot. And if they brought them back, I'd rather they went deeper than the wolf-riding Great Plains Amerindian culture of their 3.5 revival - it's interesting, but obvious - and took from their source. Bring back the Kingdom of Renardie, of lupins who are urbane and cultured, intellectual and studied with a mighty and developed civilization that spits in the eye of all those who insist that beastfolk can never be anything more than blood-drenched marauders or Stone Age tribals.

Besides, are you seriously going to tell me that a jaunty, wise-cracking, devil-may-care, wine-sipping, swashbuckling wolfman paladin isn't D&D?

>It is whispered that the advanced systems of the Redemptor are a curse as well as a blessing. The Martian tech-savants that first built these walking machines of destruction spared little thought to the health of the incumbent, seeing him as little more than another part to be interred or replaced as necessary. Many of those Redemptors that have fought for a sustained period have already had their sarcophagi replaced, their original pilots burned out by the intensity of the machine’s destructive prowess.

True. Gangrel and Nosferatu might flourish there too. Vamps interested in luxury and influence in the mortal world would have a bad time.

I Imagine the vampiric population of the eastern bloc as overwhelmingly Anarchs or Autarkis. They probably celebrate the flight of the established order so that they can start building new forms of vampire society Not burdened by the old traditions or the Sabbath vs. Cam war.

In reality though its mostly small Anarchs fiefdoms (a few that actually have a relativly free structure) with little wealth that constantly have to lay low to not get raped by the intelligence agencies (the eastern ones actually have an idea about vamps and keep the Eastern governments clean while actually aiding vamps in the west to further their corrupting influence).

Once the eastern bloc collapses Cam and Sabbath both begin a savage race to occupy territories. Most Anarchs switch sides or become marginalized. Only a few areas remain in Anarch control.
