Given how obsessed /tg/ can be over cosmologies and magical metaphysics, how best would you integrate the world's various beliefs on cosmology if you were to do a magical setting in our current world?

Dont fall down the same rabbit hole i did man im like a junkie for any fucking magical lore i can get my hands on for any game i run, joke aside you just integrate it as best as possible squash the big issues and since the small ones are impossible to anticipate just do it on a case by case basis

i mean you got to think if magic existed for a long time the government would be way stricter then they are now right? basically its a no-brainer that pc's will have to actually work for info instead of just being like "i google it LOL"

Greetings adventurers! I'd just like to tell you that there is a nest of Kobolds about three hills to the west in an abandoned charcoal burner's hut. Just be sure to leave most of the bodies for me when your done. Nothing is as beak watering as spit roasted Kobold.

Worlld building premise:

The Spirit world is a parallel realm to the mortal world, both it's opposite in a number of ways and vastly more than that.

Creatures of all sorts exist in this world and there are various points between the two that sometimes allow beings from either world to cross over but limited who could cross over because beings (human or otherwise) of certain spritual power could not come through.

A group has managed to find a way to permanently force open a portal big enough to allow anyone of any level of power to pass to and from without hinderence.

As demons and gods can now freely come into the mortal realm their presence has had the unintented affect of causing humans with various psychic powers to be born and has caused people who would otherwise have never expressed psychic powers to suddenly express as well.

TL;DR The world of Yu Yu Hakusho of Sakyo and Toguro were able to pull off their plan. The serial number has been filed off to allow for our own bullshit.

Fa/tg/uys, I am looking for a map-maker tool. I tried googling that stuff, but all that comes up is fantasy setting stuff. I need to map out buildings in a modern setting (not post-apoc, modern) and I am having issues finding any.

If there are any favoured tools for this I'd be humbly appreciative for the help. Pic unlikely to be relevant

So you have video games like Doom or Dark souls where you often face large groups of enemies. In these games, the enemies are often fairly flimsy in terms of hits they can take, but you are as well. Part of the fun is the speed and violence combined with the fact that you can easily be killed as well.

Are there any systems which allow for that kind of high speed group violence where the player is fairly squishy as well?

People usually say something about Strike! at this point.

But you need to consider something critical to RPG design: what does it mean if the protagonist dies? Do they warp through time and space to continue rip and tearing? Is the setting a video game with savestates?

It'd be fun to see the modern DOOM emulsified into a Fate Core hack. I considered some parts of it; you chain Boosts via stomping demons, all the while equipped with different Stunt arrays per weapon, and "conceding" means resetting the map.
One of Fate's upsides is its 4DF distribution. Keeping numbers low and narrative elements basic, I think it could be done.

What would a true fantasy "dungeon", that is to say, an oubliette or prison, for various big and nasty boss type creatures and minions be like? What would be important features and stand out oddities?

Could an entire campaign be set inside of one, where PCs are small timers who fucked up so hard they got tossed into the Final Dungeon?

Just wanna see a turf war between the liche gang and the night hags, while the dragons run bets on who'll win.

I enjoyed playing Dark Heresy online with friends. However, my IRL friends who play a lot of tabletop games aren't as familiar with the 40K universe, and I don't want to set something I'd run in that universe anyway because as familiar with as I am, and as much as I sort of love it in a dumb way, I want anything I run to be a little more...coherent.

But I do like Dark Heresy's d100 mechanics. I've also been partial to dicepool-based systems, and really a lot of systems that aren't your standard d20. My friends only pay Pathfinder and 5e, though. What systems can you recommend me to give me an excuse to start something up?

what type of game do you and your players want to play? ask them. find a theme. find something to hold on to. make suggestions based on the things you like, but make sure you listen to your players. that will give you a much better idea of what you're looking for.

Like I said they stick to Pathfinder and 5e, so they're probably most comfortable with generic fantasy and the surrounding neighborhood, but I know a lot of them and they're a pretty diverse bunch so I don't think they'd be scared off by anything outside that wheelhouse.

Sorry I don't have much more information to go off of, I'm more feeling out ideas of what I think I can pull off.

Dark Heresy is fun as fuck, why not run it? It's even more fun when you don't know shit about 40k. When your players meet daemons or xenos it's even better if they have no idea what they're dealing with.
