As of right now there's 3 Days, 14 Hours (give or take a few mintues) left to for the Imperium to take back the planet of Vanitor. Based on the narrative GW's pushing right now, the Imperium must win this planet, or else Chaos will consume the system via Warp Storms in the long run (-insert preferred grumbling about Chaos being Geedub's pet faction here-).

Can the Imperium pull out a come-from-behind win, or will Chaos finally win a planet?

A couple of friends and I were talking about the hero shooter games that have become popular recently and the idea that they force the developers to try to get across a character's core idea very clearly with only a few abilities.

How would your last character play in that style of game/what are the things you'd say are the core parts of them to be represented.

Let's go with one of my magical girl characters.

>Descendant of ancient nobility with a chip on her shoulder desperate to make her family name mean something again; utilizes mixed sword and gunplay with ice magic and precognition.
>Average stats across the board, base movement on the slower side.
>Two stances: Gun and Sword. Basic attacks are medium-damage, high accuracy in both.

>Passive: Die Sphare der Zukufnt Kalten: Passive and innate 5% chance to avoid damage from any attack as if dodging it in Sword stance; in Gun stance causes every attack to have a 5% chance to deal damage as if a headshot if it hits.

>Ability 1: Freeze the Soul: Blast of ice magic slows enemy speed and cooldown timers. Deals more damage but has less range in Sword stance than in Gun stance.
>Ability 2: Pragmatism Wins: Next attack deals extra damage to crowd controlled enemies, based on how controlled they are (slow is only a bit; fully paralyzed would be a massive amount.) in sword stance. In gun stance, the next attack causes a massive slow for a short duration. Cooldown is such that you cannot chain the gun attack into the sword attack.

Honestly I think that if you just have a sentient dimention you have to travel through instead of a sentient planet you have to live on the game would still pretty much be the same.

but i did like how the feats were more punchy and there is no more negative ability score mods for race, i would have preferred character creation be more about racial and class feat choices that you can use to assemble a character

At best, you can fault it for not being balanced, but it makes up for it by there being plenty of assistance and guides on how to make it balanced.

What's the equivalent of a an FTL/Mass Effect/Star Trek/KOTOR kind of game? Just a crew doing their business and trying not to get rekt along the way. The only system I know (but have never played) is Star Wars d6. TRAVELER intrigues me, and so does Eclipse Phase (but I know very little about that one). Usually I run 5e for my group, so anything not too dense is welcome, but I'll take a look at it anyway if you bring it up.

This doesn't seem to fit. But whatever, Traveller can be that, Edge of Empire can be that, you can probably run most SciFi games with spaceships being on a suitable scale like that.

Traveller is a good bet, just be aware that it is a lethal system and it takes some getting used to the rules.

I've been using Inkarnate which is a free browser-based map designer. You can import custom images and textures as well which is pretty neat.
