Most of my runners start out living in the hood, keeping their gear in their apartment. Most games end before they've gotten successful enough to have both a safehouse and a 'real' lifestyle.

Nope, those are hard 'no' responses. The whole point of being a runner is not having to deal with being a criminal for 95% of my month. If I wanted to do the kinds of crime that get me a real criminal record, I'd be a Made Man for the mafia instead, with all of the support network necessary for that kind of non-shadowrunner crime.
AAs, Barrens, wilderness, AAA subsidiaries. I'll do a wide variety of types of runs, but anything that takes place in other locations is just regular crime, not a shadowrun.

I really don't know what to think about this system. On the one hand, it has what I think is by far one of the most lazily designed games I've ever seen, what with the lack of any modifiers or actual skills to differentiate characters and instead appealing to some airy-fairy sense of fiction.
On the other hand, when it *does* bother to flesh out anything resembling actual game mechanics, it looks kind of neat. The combat design looks pretty neat. The chase system looks entertaining enough.
Still, I find it very telling that whenever I see people posting about it, the only game mechanics anyone ever brings up is the combat system, because of how much nothing there is to everything else in the game.
Has anyone actually played Strike? How was it?

The Gotrekh Dynasty, a Necron house which aims to preserve the galaxy's myriad life forms. As Necrontyr they were a minor dynasty, hoping to cure their race's genetic infirmity by researching the flawless genes of the Phaeron's youngest scion. With that opportunity lost to them after the War in Heaven, and with the Phaeron himself lost to the Great Sleep, the scion has seized the mantle of Phaerakh and decreed that if she cannot save her own race, she will be a savior to others. House Gotrekh aims to preserve lush worlds from incursion and destroy defilers wherever they arise, particularly Tyranids and the forces of Chaos. After a successful campaign, the crypteks take a small sample of the population, to be added to the Gotrekh Menagerie... for the sake of preserving the species, of course.
I've formatted their full fluff into a rather extended mini-narrative, if anyone would care to give it a read. I'd be greatly obliged for feedback from anyone more familiar with typical Imperium terminology and copy formatting. I threw lots of +++plusses+++ in there but that's about as far as I got.
