What ever happened to the Kobold Camp mod for Dwarf Fortress? I wanted to install it but the download had disappeared. Where might I find it?
(Pic not related)
I'm really starting to hate this kobold spammer guy.

Why don't we put aside GURPS, One roll, Fate and SW to talk about some obscure systems?
I don't exactly know how obscure is pic related but I don't remember this one being posted about much on /tg/ (At least not as much as the others above)
>>54997281
Oh yeah, JAGS is obscure as fuck in the general sense, with the single exception of JAGS Wonderland. It's a pretty well known supplement, because of how evocative and intriguing it is. It's one of those splatbooks that makes it way into recommendations of "settings you should read to mine for inspiration, even if you don't play the system".
Which means it's well-known mostly among GMs, the kind of GMs who are willing to devote the time to do that kind of thing to find cool ideas. So even then, it's objectively pretty poorly known. But still, the setting is the best known product from JAGS and among those who are acquainted with it, very highly rated.

>>54997281
What does "obscure" really mean? Is pic related obscure? How about Secret of Zir'An, Corporation, Underground, World of Synnibarr, or SLA Industries?
>make characters
>paint minis
>design setting
>make maps
>put army lists together
>read the rulebooks cover to cover
>too afraid to go out and actually play
Thread for introverts.
Funny stories about being introverted, how you overcame it and got to play, encourage others, projects you're working on instead of actually playing, etc.

>That Pic
I think the best thing about Apes is that given the context, they're smart enough to understand something like a Juice Box and will open and drink from it like a regular person.
You don't need to help them, they're fully capable of picking the straw out, carefully punching a hole in the box, and drinking from it once they know how to do so.
It's great. I love it. Nature is amazing.
>think roll20 might be good for me to practice playing and a good middle ground between going out and playing and being a shut in completely
>still too shy to apply to games
Ive read enough That Guy stories to know staying in is better.
After playing a session of Tunnels & Trolls, why would anyone want to play D&D? It is far less crunchy but still manages to capture everything D&D does but much simpler.
What say you?
Never played it. Always wanted to. I'm interested in any game that influenced Risus. Tell us about T&T OP?
>>54997052
Downloaded T&T free rules, looks bretty gud. I like how spells are more tongue-in-cheek than D&D's.
>Take That, You Fiend
>>54997052
Because personal preference is a thing.
You like a lighter ruleset which achieves a lot of the same things? Awesome. I'm happy for you.
Personally, I like crunch. It has to be good crunch that properly serves the premise, not garbage like 3.PF, but a system with real mechanical weight to it is part of the experience I enjoy, and I always find lighter systems unsatisfying as a result.
I have a strange request, fa/tg/uys. Can you help me with a cute/outlandish character profile thread? Things along the lines of pic related for a cute, aesthetically driven homebrew I have in mind. Focus on clothes and accessories and things like that, but I have no idea what this type of fashion is called.

Yeah stuff like this! Lots of colors and motifs and things that really characterize the wearer.

Thank god, I was starting to feel the itch
Still haven't gotten around to ordering the Pauldrons I need, but in the meantime, do you guys think I should put a pauldron on my Aspiring Champion's right shoulder or leave it bare because Tough McManBeef?
reposting these niggas from last thread
WiP Minotaur. Still need to clean up the highlighting, and pick out some more details. First marine I've painted in almost ten years. Arms and backpack are separate, to make hitting chest easier. Not sure what I want to do with the pauldrons - there are no Minotaur transfer sheets, and my freehanding skill is almost nil.
Excuse the mess in the background, working on some house stuff.

I want people to train monsters in my setting, but what justifications could I have for why a more powerful creature would obey a human being?

.....are you actually that stupid, or is this bait?
Just make them Dumb? Like an amplification of the real world with fantastical elements?
Are there any systems that replicate the feel of a Final Fight or just general Beat 'em Up style games well or would I be better of just trying to find something that replicates fighting games and moving from there? I've seen a couple discussed here before, but I'm not sure what would handle a fight with multiple mooks as well as big boss characters well.
Also if anyone has character art for modern fighters, gangsters, or general street tough type characters I'd appreciate it,
>>54996542
That'll probably work, thanks! I'll give it a read.
Are [people] genetically predisposed to a life of adventuring and dungeon delving? / How likely is it that the offspring of an adventurer and great hero grows up to become an adventurer themselves?
>>54996132
Humans are genetically disposed to be adaptable to a very wide range of potentially very hostile environments. So humans CAN adapt to a life of adventuring, unlike, say, a goldfish which can't even fucking adapt to minor water changes.
But to have the sort of inclination you are referring to would be a cultural thing. The child has the genes to make a good adventurer, but the child is only likely to grow up to be an adventurer due to the environment it was raised in. If the hero-child were birthed in a peaceful kingdom, he may have become a guard or an athlete or some other profession. Professions are not DNA based, I feel like I shouldn't have to say that.
>>54996132
People born with innate special abilities like an exotic bloodline, whether half-breed or something like a sorcerer, would be more likely to take up a life of adventure. Probably because they'd be less able to fit in with the common folk and their unique nature would infer benefits that make them more likely to survive the experience. The children of a famous adventurer would hopefully benefit from inheriting whatever exceptional attributes that allowed their parent to survive. The fact they'll likely grow up on stories of their parent's adventures, along with having access to the best mentor possible in a parental figure, means even an otherwise mundane child could easily be inspired to follow in their parent's adventuring footsteps if they wanted to.
>>54996132
Even with the best adventuring genes, it's still possible to get the most dull witted and inept offspring. That one kid that has fantasies of running his very own shit farm with an ugly wife and 20 children. The one that would take the family heirloom sword that was bestowed by a god and slew the greatest evil of the land and use it to chop down a tree.
So I'm trying to get into Warhammer Fantasy, what's the best way to do it? I bought the 8th core rules and the Empire army book off of Amazon earlier. What is the easiest and least painful way to build an army in this game that isn't being made anymore?
>>54996031
cover yourself in square bases and roll across the table.
Pick what army looks nicest to you, most easily one that GW still carries most of the models for (Orcs, Lizardmen, Skaven, Vampires,Ogres)
Though if you want to hunt for OOP models for Bretonnia or Tomb Kings go right ahead. Some stuff has been repackaged with round bases now, so you may need to figure out the right sizes for big things. Once you pick something get the leader and core choices you want, then expand from there. 1d4chan has plenty of tactics pages for 8th ed if you want more detailed army advice, but really it's fairly easy to build an army if you just buy and paint it bits at a time.
The real hard part is finding people to play with, especially someone experienced enough to help teach you. You're not in OKC are you? Maybe a proper opponent will motivate me to paint my Empire
>>54996942
How common are Empire models? I really dig the flamboyant aesthetic. Also, What's OOP and OKC?
Is anyone else sort of miffed about the dominance of Roll20 these days?
Don't get me wrong - it's pretty damn nice in a lot of ways, but the addition of the map is something my old irc-using brain is annoyed by. I liked being able to just...describe a room or area, instead of having to have a fucking map for it.
What's worse is that I can't even do quick half-assed attempts because there are no basic-ass "Draw a line" things, everything you draw using their tools becomes a shape and you end up accidentally clicking on it and all that annoying bullshit. So then, if you just try to use a map someone already made by searching for it, you eventually run out, or can't find the right sort of thing.
So now i'm making my own maps (Pic Related), but it's taking so god-forsaken long to make something that doesn't look like clown vomit that it's slowing down every other part of my planning workload for the game. Seriously, this shit is taking me hours in photoshop for each map if I do it to this level of quality, and lots of them end up being walked through in 10 minutes and never seen again. I used to use a program called fantasy grounds, and honestly I liked that more. It just had a map you could use an MS Paint-tier line brush on without it becoming a fucking geographic object you could move around.
I've also found that now that i'm using all these maps and tokens instead of descriptions...I end up describing stuff less. It's my own fault, but It just keeps happening. Why describe your npcs or room when you can see a decent approximation of it to the left of the text box? Players tend to do it too, i've noticed. I dunno. I mostly just wanted to vent my frustration. I honestly wish roll20 would just add a way to remove the map entirely, because even if I try to not use it, it's still there to the side taunting me.
And don't even get me started on using voice chat or god forbid, webcams in roll20.
Use other voice chats and roll20 for the rolls, you don't have to use the map either, just paste some fancy ass picture or something.
>>54995949
So don't use the map? I'm not playing the sort of games that require us to use maps.. So we just use it as a backdrop. Pic related is from our musketeer game.
>>54996095
>>54996110
It just seems like such a huge fucking waste of screen space, I dunno.
How would /tg/ do a skeleton city?

Jesus everloving christ why can't I ever play my rainbow warriors without some brokedick piece of shit manlet who thinks he's funny manhandling my models and going "hurr durr are these the GAY marines?" like, fuck off
