It's not a bad solution, though it might be good to discuss what to do with the player in question rather than just ask him to do that. If he isn't a sperg and you talk with him about it he would hopefully do what is best for the group, even if that meant taking a slightly less optimized character. Or he could help bring the other players up. Both are fine, but it's important to talk about these things and make sure every one has the same expectations as one another.
The thing is if he can make an optimized character that tends to carry over into how he view playing the game, which may not mesh, so talking to him about what the group is going for can be important.

have you ever had a treasury for your gaming group?
I proposed that idea to my group, because our DM bears the brunt of the expenses for miniatures and map tiles, and two of the members got at my throat because of it.
most of us work or have some form of income, except for one of us. if we all chipped in 10 dollars each every month (except for the guy that has no money and the other guy that doesn't want to), that'd be 40 dollars that we'd have for the DM to buy tiles and minis and shit.
but apparently I'm a bad guy for suggesting this.

Just to follow on from this, OP - only get people to chip in when there's actually something you need. New map tiles, new minis - everyone chip in. Don't stockpile money, contribute when it's needed.

I think your DM would appreciate some help paying for stuff but he's probably fine with the way things are. I'd say toss him some dosh when he buys new things if you feel like it but don't expect any of the other players to do the same.

This retarded duo was mostly alive because of devilishly narrow luck rolls. Our interactions with most NPCs ended with us getting our way because we so incessantly raped their brain with our combined autism they'd eventually snap and give in just to get rid of us.
It eventually got to a point where we realized both of us were such idiots we had to do thinking checks if we had any semblance of a smart idea in our heads (those were almost always disastrous). We sucked at everything but combat (retard strength i guess?).
Still, somehow, in one session we went from being conscripted into the army to buying out an entire island and ousting the local Grand Inquisitor (we hypnotized him, put him on a boat and told him to row forward).
When my bear told Yosef the approaching northeners pretty much spoke in swear words, he took it literally. We crashed at sea and found their village (which was named Dick). Yosef put it more eloquently:
"The water whore shat us out onto your dick"

I once played a mildly autistic Night-Witches character. I have multiple autistic relatives, so I know how to portray it well, it was an interesting character to play, added another layer to the social encounters and party dynamic with my character's particular difficulties.
Who makes the best Minatures? Ignoring attached systems or licensed products, who has the highest quality minis which have a good level of balance between detail and ease of painting, quality of material, and unique silhouettes?

Guys,
Ever played Minecraft RP? Either way, I would like to cut straight to the chase. This particular server is based on a fantasy/steampunk landscape with various lite plugins, such as Movecraft which allows you to construct ships, airships, elevators etc.
The server is semi competitive, meaning RP is important but purpose is also crucial.
I belong to an emerging Kingdom and we're actively looking for citizens. Our political system is an offshoot of Feudalism for now, with hopes of expanding into more centralized systems such as a Republic and hopefully Empire if we become numerous enough.

Im a fairly new DM. For the most part i think im doing well, but im having trouble figuring out what i should have the CR listed on my homebrew monsters. how do you guys determine the CR of your mobs. also what do you think the CR of this would be.
