I can't tell you how many shameful, early teenage faps I had to that picture of the Nymph from the Monster Manual and this picture of Mailee in the PHB.
You work with what you got.
Just RPGs, or traditional games in general?
>>55088235
When did you first find out you liked men?
Systems with no random elements, whether resource management based, description based, "higher trait wins", etc.
What are your thoughts and why is anyone who disagrees with you an idiot?
>>55087991
>Systems with no random elements
Too many factors to take into account, sometimes people can have bad days and a heavy weight champion can get his ass floored by a sucker punch.
>>55088062
True, but in fairness, it really doesn't happen quite nearly as often as, say, the d20 system might make it look.
Games need some sort of uncertainty to keep them from being solvable and boring. It doesn't have to be randomness (I quite like hidden information), but it's a convenient and widely applicable method.

Hey /tg/. In my OC Donut Steel setting, I plan to feature psuedo rat people called Quicklings as replacements for hoobits. I don't want them to be strictly idealized, but I do want to avoid the many common and completely false cliche's about rats while making them more like actual rat people.
>3-4 feet tall
>short lives, 30-40 years
>fully grown by 6 though
>usually born in litters of 2-6, singles are incredibly rare and considered auspicious
>have large families
>very hygienic, every household will have a water basin outside for washing the hands an face and a rug for feet
>despite this their settlements tend to look ramshackle to outsiders - often springing up inside or on the outskirts of the cities of other races, sprawling mazes of burrows and huts that are thrown up quickly called 'quick towns' (hence the name for the species, obv they have their own name for themselves)
>not actually 'furry', per say, they have largish ears, scaly tails, nimble clawed fingers and thin whiskers
>men will often grow mustaches around their whiskers, making their whiskers whiskers. Few beards, mutton chops are common
>have bad reputations that aren't entirely warranted, but aren't entirely undeserved, due to their tendency to have population booms and the fact they're always under-foot
>also they tend to pick through trash. Their communities will often have public middens and it's perfectly acceptable to pick through them for interesting or useful stuff. This earns them reputations at thieves, which again isn't (always) warranted
>this is probably also why they fucking wash constantly mind you
>mostly regarded as fucking pests by many
>very kind and neighborly though
>very good with their hands, do excellent carvings and scrimshaw and tinkering
>natural agility makes them good runners or deliverymen
>>55084128
I'm looking for a few more idea's and i'm open to suggestions. Should I go muzzles or flat face? Muzzle would be cuter but full furry. Flat face would be interestingly alien when combined with slightly further apart eyes and their teeth (largish incisors, small sharp teeth) but may make them look... unsympathetic or horrific. I'm thinking they should have scaly/leathery patches of skin on their feet, knees, hands, elbows etc that act as natural protection, so many go shoe-less or with foot wrappings - the long clawed toes help - hence the door rugs!
Culturally:
>tend to be somewhat subterranean
>their own myths hold that the world is a honeycomb egg, and that all life has crawled out from inside of it
>this puts them at odds with other races who believe in Gods or this and that
>tend to adapt to the dominant culture around them aside from their own clannish customs
I've owned a lot of rats and all of this looks pretty accurate. Here's something fun for you to have them do: when two rats are pissed at each other, they settle the issue by having staring contests https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DZRl8GZCNk

A general thread for requests that don need their own thread. You can ask questions, for recommendations, or whatever you need.
To start with, im asking if anyone has the greentext about a wizard gnome called tee hee that ruined an anon's DnD because hes the only player that thinks it's dumb.
Minor Magical Items
I'm running a low level adventure but I still wanna give my party some weaker but still magical stuff.
So far I have
Magic Token that can cast Faerie Fire once per day and give off light in a small radius
Holy Symbol that increases all Healing from Divine Sources by 1d4 for the wearer
+1 Dagger that makes no noise because cliche
The Bard has the Token, they haven't decided yet on who gets the Holy Symbol, and the Bard currently has the +1 Dagger as well in case he wants to throw it at someone. I have a Cleric, spear wielding Paladin and a Thief that really should have the +1 Dagger but whatever. I want each of them to get a magical item that's not too gamebreaking. Thinking of letting the Thief have some boots that increase his movement speed and give a bonus to sneaking.
Not sure on what I could give the Cleric. He's kinda been exploding everything with Guiding Bolt so he doesn't need more offensive power, but because he is a threat he's also taking a lot of focus in these encounters and has been downed twice.
Would giving the party an item that grants its wearer a bonus on Death Saving Throws be a bit too on the nose?
>>55080329
you could always make it have limited uses.
>>55080398
Something that prevents a failed Death Saving throw but has a limited number of charges? Like 3 and then it breaks?
Xenomorphs, Predators, and other movie aliens vs. Any of the factions in Warhammer 40,000. Who would win?
Discuss.
>>55080278
Xenomorphs would probably just be more efficient genestealers. Predators would fit right in as a minor xeno race that hunt various groups for sport. Both would be minor nuisances as neither have the capacity or care to wage full scale warfare.
>>55080278
all fall to pretty much anything in 40k. Xenos might stand a chance, but aren't much more of a threat than tyrranids, that being said, they may very well be more useful than tyrranids on a hive world. they are stealthier by far, they breed a bit slower, but avoid the whole long process of genestealer cults. it would literally be a month or two of prep and then the whole world would go dark. getting some ogryn dna would make larger, stronger specimins. if they got ahold of a space marine, you might have something really special, as they *may* be able to reproduce all of the special abilities of the marines. if they came across the tyrannids, you would see tyrannids with slight xeno features, but nothing much more unusual. tau is the same as humanity. eldar is interesting, but eventually the same. Orks might be something special though. imagine a waagh of xenos.
>>55081790
Would Ork xenomorphs be green and have access to the WAAGH! field?
So tell me, if Dwarves are so great, why are there no good books about Dwarves?

>Spends the whole time getting high off a magic ring and sleeping through the Battle of Five Armies

Fucking hobbits.
>>55078776
Wasn't the book Bilbo wrote in universe called there and back again though?
i have been playing 3.5/ pathfinder for years and it has worked for me but i want to try something different. i keep seeing people say AD&D is better but i never see any real arguments in favor of it. i also knew a guy that said gurps is better then all of D&.
what version do you prefer?
Far less character build bullshit, min-maxing math, etc...
I've only played 2e, but my two cents:
>smaller numbers (bonus inflation is present, but comparably restrained)
>uneven, slower progression (the window of martial/caster equality is larger too)
>THAC0 keeps combat at a reasonable level (fewer pluses, non-ascending AC) while retaining a sensible formulae
>caster dominance is earned, thanks to much slower progression and greater fragility
>kits are like prestige classes but not; shaky balance but a great deal of variety (without getting into absurd niches like hulking hurler)
>excellent balance of 'gritty' and 'heroic' elements (you're powerful but threats are more palpable)
>staggering variety of unique, optional features (weapon speeds, knockdown values, etc.) lends a great deal of accessible house rulings
>among the greatest published settings and modules available, if you're into that
>>55076402
AD&D doesn't work well outsode of traditional dungeon crawling (which, judging by your question, you're not familair with), but d20 System doesn't work well in general.

Kithkin.
Look at these adorable little scamps.
Suddenly, only one in thirty rounds of any and all ammunition properly fires. The other twenty-nine don't explode or jam. They simply do not react. The only way you can tell which will or won't fire is to put it through a firearm.
What happens to the world after such a strange event? How would militaries/militas/etcetera have to adapt to such changes?
I want to have this (among other things) be what leads up to an apocalyptic setting across the breadth of North America.I posted this thread earlier but embarrassingly said only one-in-thirty rounds of ammunition misfire.
I'd imagine we'd see 30-round harmonica guns with gas cycling.
That's dumb. Why would that happen?
>>55074298
Why would every gun maker on the planet suddenly become incompetent?
How useful is spear and shield for adventuring?
>>55062756
It's pretty crucial.
Most things you'll encounter will be mindless beasts, usually stronger than a man, where the long reach comes in handy.
The shield is great no matter what you're fighting.
And, besides, a spear is very easy and cheap to repair.
I mean, unless your system is one where reach doesn't count or burying a spear into your opponent somehow deals little damage.
>>55062808
It can also double as a walking stick assuming it isn't particularly heavy if you can't hail a taxi to where you're going. Also useful on horseback if you are adventuring with mounts.
Definitely an asset for the team. I mean, not everyone can be a wall, but also not every wall can be a wall that aggressively stabs you if you get too close, and on which you impale if you are dumb enough to charge.

I'm strangely bothered by the fact that she has a generic science badge in the first picture, but is part of medical in the second, judging by her turtleneck.

Could have jumped career.
Found she couldn't go any further in the old job due to the rapid march of technology and understanding. Doesn't have the aptitude to "get" this new stuff as well as she did before. Decides to go gown the other path she could have chosen during her education days, finds it comes easier to her.
Vulcans can live for a very long time, time enough to retrain and build a new career and excel.
