All characters are musicians touring in a troubled world. You are expert on a kind of instrument (choose one). Instruments have pros and cons depending on their type
>Stand-alone (banjo, shamisen, flute)
+melee weapon
>Complex
+extra dice when playing with a band
-need batteries/gig must be planned around town's power source (synth, bass, theremin) or is awkward to carry (church organ, drum set)
>Small (harmonica, triangle, tambourine)
+is small and easy to carry around without encumbering
-dice penalty when playing on your own (no band)
When playing a song, you roll 1d6 + 1d6 if you're expert on the given instrument. Each success (5-6 is a success, 4 is a success at a cost) gives you an Advantage
When playing on a band, each musician rolls and takes his highest die. Each failure cancels a success (because having bad musicians can hamper your gig).
For each advancement you get, you can:
-Say how a person on the audience feels. Even after the concert, if that person was present on it
-Declare that a general feeling/idea has spread among the townsfolk
-Restore the band's HP
-Perform a minor magical act (healing, blessing, hex, win the attention of a nearby force)
-Everybody is astounded by your sound, they will remember your band long after you go.
These are some of my ideas for the next game, guys. I'd thought on sharing them here just to get some feedback. I'd like some ideas in which kind of troubles ill the world the players must tour. Maybe like a 60s revolution against an established order? I like the idea of the PCs being prosecuted in certain towns as "not!communists"; while encumbered in others.
Also, of course, battles of bands are a thing, and they must fight for their name/caché/reputation/lives with rival guys constantly.
My main concern now is the overall tone. There are so many alternatives that I don't know which one to pick (crazy 80s+wild west? jazz 20s+ice age?)
Providing you could do it, which kind of setting would you like to tour as a and which genre would you play on it?
also, which instrument do you like to play when you play a bard?
>>51453916
>while encumbered in others
meant "praised".
Which of the Five Deadly Venoms (Centipede, Snake, Scorpion, Lizard, & Toad) best corresponds to which of the five Chinese elements (Air, Earth, Metal, Water, & Wood)?
I'm building a villain team to pit against my players.
I'm also interested in re-writing the story of the Five Chinese Brothers to star the Venoms, as a sort of origin story, and any help in that regard would also be appreciated.

This is the most racist post I have ever seen on /tg/, and that including the blatant /pol/ bait shit.
>>51453626
I certainly didn't intend it that way.

(YOU)'re an idiot and clearly bait
>>51453610
And if you're gonna make a Venoms thread the least you could do is include some theme music

As a society we seem to have become more accepting on a certain level of our insignificance in the universe and more aware of how much we don't know. Compared to Lovecrafts time we seem to have lost our certainty in importance in the universe and of our knowledge of the world around us and as such cosmic horror seems to have lost its teeth. Today society seems to have moved on and perhaps the most effective horror appears to be that which focuses on our isolation within society and being alone within a crowd while struggling to deal with the kafkaesque bureaucracy of modern governments and the disconnect between the state and its people. What do you think?

There is no more harrowing existential dread than the cold certainty that OP is a flaming faggot.

short answer?
yes
Tell me /tg/, what do you think of the Squats? Also is 1d4chan's Squat codex good & usable?

OP from last time. Thanks for all the awesome armor images.
Someone even got a character out of it.
This time just post whatever.
Armor is beautiful. Fantasy Armor for its extravagant, exaggerated features. Realistic Armor for its practicality and history. Both are creative and beautiful.
I'll chaotically post stuff from last time. Here's a quick dump to get us started.
No WIP thread on /tg/?!? Emperor's Teeth! That's HERESY!!!

update on my castle fort from last thread
Why is light/Dark considered an element?
>>51450524
Something something fear of the unknown, light of truth, religious influences on fiction becoming passed down through memetic transfer and inspiration. Same reason with the typical fire/ice/air/earth combo being from Ancient Greek elemental inspiration, if I had to take a guess, some western mythologies or histories have just stuck, like latin being considered a gothic or 'holy' language.
>>51450524
For gameplay purposes.
>>51450524
Mostly because people look at the elements in pretty narrow terms and find things that don't easily fit into the classic four under such a limited scope. So light and darkness help to round out the apparent gaps.

What's something from a splat you've never played that entices you most about the idea of playing one?
I have a Promethean game coming up in a few days and I'm excited :D

>What's something from a splat you've never played that entices you most about the idea of playing one?
"Going loud" I like the cheesy goodness of having a super saiyen form. Unfortunately, everyone in my area has too much of a hard-on for Judeo-Christian mythology to try nWoD demon.
Hey /tg/, I wanna try and get a group of my friends (4 of them) into an RPG but none of them have any knowledge of RPGs other than it has dice with more/less than 6 sides and its mostly in a fantasy setting. I myself am also a bit new (only played like 5 pathfinder sessions with online acquaintances. Any tips to convince them/how to correctly play with noobs as a noob. It would probably be some level 1 premade adventyure dnd oneshot just to get them to learn.
PS: Sorry for being a newfag
Plenty of free dice apps for smartphone users with all sorts of dice to roll. If you are planning on DMing and aren't great with descriptions I would say to use a grid if you plan to an encounter. You could also just do theater of the mind which is easiest but can get a little confusing. As far as playing correctly I have found 5e pdfs for free online I just googled them. I think the Dungeon Masters Guide might be too and that will help a lot. If you feel like it's something you would get into for sure grab a D&D starter kit from your local board game shop or Amazon they are like $20 might be just what you need. Comes with dice, a premade adventure, and some rules I believe.
>>51449773
figuring how you want to explain PnP RPGs to your friends and figuring out what about them may appeal to your friends is probably a good idea.
I didn't find pathfinder/3.5 to be particularly use friendly when I was new (come to think of it I still don't).
bumpity bump
>A mage enchants his attacks so they do nothing at first, his empowered punches bouncing off his enemies as if he wasn't even touching them.
>Then he turns off the spell and it's like you got punched ten times all at the exact same time.
Logically speaking, would this be a good spell for maximizing DPS, looking at it from a scientific stand point and assuming there isn't any other factors? Pic mostly related.
The only way I can see that being of ANY use that isn't just
>"It'll look cool"
is if the person is fighting something almost completely impervious to it's attacks. Then he'd turn off the spell to stun or create an opening so that someone/something else can land an attack
>>51449044
To further explain,
>Getting shoved 10 different times in a row by 10 pounds of force when you're expecting it
is much different than
>Being pushed by 100 pounds of force suddenly when you weren't expecting it/off balance
>>51449002
>Take ten rounds of unarmed attacks that do no damage
>At the end of the tenth round, they all hit at once
>With a caster's physical stats behind the unarmed attacks.
I think you managed to make the least effective caster build in existence.

First for like hell am I posting this in the dead thread.
Converted jetpack Palatine Blades, because I'm a poorfag. There's still some work to finish on them, and I'm thinking about adding some iconography to some of the more 'bare' spots, but I'm liking 'em.
Reductor and/or Genetor represent. Iron Warriors and Death Guard can take a break, we do it better.
I'm slightly confused that there's pretty much nil fluff about either of them, so of course I decided to make both into an army. Biggest problem is trying to stop myself making over two-thirds of my army out of Skaven kits, they look so RIGHT.
Teeg, can we have a discussion on rules heavy VS light games?
Assuming it's a matter of preference, which do you prefer and why?
>>51444808
Depends on my mood personally.
I was all about D&D 5e when it first came out. This was coming off of Pathfinder and dealing with 20,000 different character combinations. Thing was, once I really got balls deep into 5e, I kind of missed being able to mechanically customize my character, but I also didn't like how Pathfinder kind of stuck its mechanics into my role-play a lot of times. Like, why can't I hit someone with a shield without taking a feat?
fixed

Kamal are known to hibernate and there was already at least one time their remnants resurfaced in Tamriel after the invasion.
Could there be more? Just laying somewhere hidden, frozen? Waiting?
