>Great GM
>Terrible Player
>Get to a point where I prefer being GM because I don't wanna embarrass myself in front of my friends with Cringy RPing
>inb4 "If you're a cringy bad player, How come you're good at GMing if you need to RP for the npcs?"
I get much more control with the NPCs and if I fuck up really bad with one I can just pretend he never existed, or create a situation where they can shine and look better for the whole group
>>51486551
Wait.....so where is this thread supposed to go?
I'm not sure I understand.
>>51486605
What are your strength and flaws as a tabletop enthusiast and how do you use them
>>51486645
oooooooooooooooh
I HAVE NO FLAWS I AM MARY S-
Ahem
I love fluff and shenanigans way too much.
I use it for interesting stories while making sure no one is ever bored when played. (as a player)
And for 40k.....memes
Alrighty, fa/tg/uys, it's that time again. Come here to confess your sins, and be absolved. Also, if you were in the previous thread, share any progress you've made on bettering yourself.
I'll start with a new sin.
> Same OP as last thread, so still fairly newfag (3 years, now)
> For some reason all of my GMs love me
> I'll be allowed special requisitions that others wouldn't be able to have, tailored character arcs, the lot
> Example being I started playing a MtA campaign, and my GM gave my character a grimoire that he had previously
> shit has 150 spells in it
> I asked about the limit of what I could do and he said "just make some spells up, you're creative"
> allows up to 10 5th dot spells, but other than that I can go haywire
> My sin is that I fully acknowledge, and actively take advantage of this
As for progress, my last sin was Main Character Syndrome, and I've tried to cut back on taking the spotlight. In said Mage campaign, we need a leader for our Cabal, and I actively suggested a player that was not myself. A small step, admittedly, but it's something.
Most decisions I present to my players are actually just illusion of choice and lead down a narrow railroad. They haven't noticed.
>>51486483
Well, if they don't notice, and still have fun, where's the sin?
How do I break up an IC relationship between two PCs?
So far it's just been implied sleeping together, but I need to kill their romance before it gets serious ingame.
Kill one.
If you mean besides that, kill the other.
>>51484933
What's the problem? Is their child destined to end the world?
>>51484933
Kill both

Before the rampant shitposting one anon had an interesting point about collections. What's your ideal size? How much is too much? At what point if a game played often enough that it's worth the not just the money spent, but the space it takes up in your home?
>>51474097
>collections
Not sure how up-to-date it is.
I have munchkin and adventure time fluxx
>>51474228
I'm sorry.
How do you Paladin?
Start out with an idealistic hero.
If the DM lets him be a hero, great.
If it's a setting where everything is going to punish anyone who tries to be good, than I fall hard and become a blackguard.
>>51466227
You dream the impossible dream, of course.
>>51466227
My ref/inspo folder is severely lacking in the guns department
Could we have a thread about futuristic and fantasy guns?
High fantasy guns I mean
Magic and shit
Futuristic fantasy like magitech shit is also welcome
i'm trying to post what i have to start the thread but i'm already running out
Roll for your characters then give them a name and flesh out their abilities
Rollin'
Rolled 12, 74, 10, 11 = 107 (4d100)

Since Leskovar is taking a break until late april, Rigel and Zyklon_Ben are left to moderate this new /tg/craft. Here are the new rules:
1. Use common sense you cunts.
2. You're allowed to declare war on anyone. This declaration must be made atleast an hour before the declarator begins any conflict. You can do with what you take as you wish. No, I won't protect you if the rest of the server murders you for it.
3. Griefing terrain and fucking up the map for no good reason is not tolerable, either.
4. Everything else is on a case by case basis depending on how much of a obnoxious shit you are.
If you think a player should be banned, make an official appeal on the tgcraft board. In-game complaints against players will be ignored.
Make sure to read /info once ingame!
this will be the rp experience of a lifetime
hello i am weaver
you will come to despise me
ty that is all
Mages guild when?
Let's play "spot a GMGFPC"
> Some free homeruling ability with no flip side
> One-on-one PR way more often than with anyone else
> GMPC looking just like a female character from GM's favorite anime.
>>51503247
You can't just throw letters together like that, you ignoramous.
>>51503256
Don't you mean YCJTLTLTYI?
>>51503256
Not even that Anon, but
>GMPC
A (borderline Mary Sue) non-player character the GM treats as their own player character.
>GMGFPC
The GM's girlfriend's character.
Does anyone know the name of this aesthetic/setting/vibe? It's essentially pseudoscience with some minor occultism from the early mid to late 1800's. Tim Burton's claymation movies are reminiscent of it, like The Corpse Bride and Nightmare Before Christmas. Even the movie Igor would fall into this category. It's similar to gothic and dieselpunk but comes after gothic and before dieselpunk, chronologically.
Dumping pics that fit the vibe.
Allright /tg/, I'm a first time GM who's never even played a paper and pen game before and i want to run a MAGOS DEL TIEMPOS game. I've had a single friend over to try the system and I like it, but I just have a few question.
-Should I write out what happens in the characters lives before we start, or just make it up as I go along?
-Who decides how the players look?
-How the fuck do I plan a campaign?
-Where can I find the YES/NOPE cards?
-How do I decide if a players magik is feasible?
>>51501173
>-Should I write out what happens in the characters lives before we start, or just make it up as I go along?
Up to the players what their characters backstories and motivations are
>-Who decides how the players look?
Up to the players
>-How the fuck do I plan a campaign?
Like playing jazz, have few flexible ideas
>-Where can I find the YES/NOPE cards?
What do you need them for exactly?
>-How do I decide if a players magik is feasible?
No idea, never heard of your system before
>>51501708
>Up to the players what their characters backstories and motivations are
So when I'm describing the week where they choose their powers from, do I get them to tell me about their character beforehand?
>What do you need them for exactly?
uhhhhh....... they tell you how your 'spell' works.
>No idea, never heard of your system before
You mean my personal system or TIME WIZARDS? Because all I mean is how do I decide if a player is just pushing the limits?
>>51501173
What the hell is this?
Given a lawful character whose alignment is in question between neutral or good.
That character visits a tavern's bathroom, whereupon they relieve themselves and wash their hands in a basin provided.
Also provided is a pile of papers to dry one's hands with.
The character crumbles the paper after use, attempts to shoot it into a waste basket, rolls a natural 1, and misses.
As they are a non-evil lawful character, they understand it is right and proper to make sure the paper towel is in the waste basket. Upon bending over to retrieve it, the character notices two other paper balls which have not made it into the waste basket.
The character only retrieves their waste. Is there any grounds to argue they are a good character rather than neutral?
>>51500915
What kind of shitty game are you playing where OTHER PEOPLE'S LAZINESS affects your alignment?
>>51500987
This. Good is not a doormat.
>>51500915
A particularly considerate person might decided to pick up the other wads. But it's not really Evil or even non-Good to not pick them up.
The kind of interpretation of Good where the LG person *has* to pick up other people's garbage is what leads to an especially obnoxious brand of busybody players.
Welcome to living room 40k!
Where I run around taking awful blurry shots of a 40k game, almost as bad as GW's official stream!
/tg/, that means you palying guard
>>51499976
>>51499645
and I am the Orks
>>51499609
The rules are like so.
If you squint you may see 6 small disks, each of these are worth 2 points. Line breaker, firstblood and slay the warlord are all 1 point.
The Orks set up first and are going first without a lucky seize. Warlord traites are master of the vanguard and divide to conquer.
The weird boy has da jump and da krunch
The enemy warlord is pask who has old grudges.
Night fighting is in play.
Quick, the Orks are assault the book gate of carpet town. Deploy your guard no further than the dice line to try and stop them.
>>51500402
Terrible. Get a proper play space or don't play. That means no unpainted or improvised scenery, appropriate terrain only, and no unpainted or proxy models.
>>51500452
(you)
>>51500452
Sounds super elitist, but this. This game is a visual hobby. It's why we have miniatures and not just tokens and gaming pieces to begin with.
How do you design a good modern fantasy game?
I really like the whole 'magic is real but hidden from normies' stuff a lot of things do, but I feel as though some of these could be combined.
I also really like a few settings like The Secret World's setting and Unknown Armies, but it depends on what kind of campaign you're going for.
>>51499909
Ask the World of Darkness people.
>>51499909
I thoroughly despise the whole "Magic exists, but shhhh it's a secret" thing. Not only is it a cliche, but it's a badly done one that makes no sense whatsoever. There is no way in Hell that you could hide the existence of magic in the modern era unless your sthuper shecret organization is Mary Sue Incorporated and controls the entire internet.
Suspension of disbelief can only go so far.
>>51500544
Depends on your magic I think.
Something like Dresden Files/World of Darkness/Nasuverse could never be hiden.
But something more lowkey like xxxHolic/Pact/Kult could maybe work as a masquerade type setting
*the villains being able to affect the physical world blatantly was very much a plot point and shoudn't be possible
So I've been wondering.....
LISA: The Painful (And joyful, though we'll leave the first out for now) has a nice premise with lots of interesting abilities. There are even technically classes, and various defining feauters. Plus the story rocks.
Now, do you think we could transform that into a tabletop RPG?
Or should I clear out and pack up.
(And yes, I'm tripfaggin. I've decided to make all me replies known as to who they come from-and see how long it takes before someone tracks me down)
>>51498980
Well I tried. RIP thread. Guess it looked too much like /v/ came over.
damn.
>>51498980
Not everything needs to be a tabletop game.
>>51499220
Well I felt it was a good premise.....
If I had just posted stat this I feel like this would be way more successful.....ah 4chan the ways you work
